I received this bible as a gift from my husband for Christmas. I love it! It contains beautiful devotionals from wonderful Christian women with real life situations they have dealt with. The bible is simple to read, I really would recommend the New Living Translation to everyone. It contains a 365-day reading plan, which I am about too complete the end of this year.

Although I haven't read all the devotionals, this edition of the Bible and the lovely perspectives and insights into God's word from a multigenerational group of contributors was a lovely read. The New Living Translation is one of the most reader-friendly versions of the Bible, so I highly recommend this to a young believer who is, quite simply, looking for sanctuary in God's word. It is not full of commentary and doesn't have as many cross-references as you can expect from an ESV or NIV study Bible. It is just God's word, written in today's vernacular. For one who wants to read through most of the Bible in a year, the devotionals (at least one per weekday and one per weekend for a whole year) will give you a nice sampling of the most readable parts of the Bible. And when you're finished reading through this version, you'll have enough familiarity with God's Word that you can advance to a more difficult translation, like ESV or HCSB, that is closer to the original text. Want to fall in love with God's word? This is a great introduction.

I bought myself a copy of this Bible in 2012 after reading bits of my husband's NLT Men's Bible. I'd never read the New Living Translation before, I was curious to see how it compared to other translations I had previously read.

I loved it!! I found it a very easy translation to read and in addition to the look (I love the color scheme and font...yes - font can, and does, make a difference in one's enjoyment of reading - especially if the text is justified! *lol*), I love the extra content included in it. Other than my husband's edition, I'd never read a through a Bible with extra notes in it. The devotional content of this one was just perfect for where I was in my faith journey at the that time.

Together with a year long reading plan, there are reflections from both historical and contemporary faith writers, profiles of key women in the Bible, and a weekly hymn feature where not only a well known hymn is shared, but also the story behind it.

The NLT has now become my favourite Bible translation! I've read it so many times that my own copy is now looking a little worse for wear with it's weakened binding, dogears, and scribbled personal reflections on nearly every page.

I also enjoy listening to the audio version on YouVersion while I'm doing housework. If you haven't tried an audio Bible before, definitely give the NLT audio a try. The narration is beautifully done.
