Now Officer Ashley Hanson and her K-9 partner are on the case, and it’s up to them to track down the assailant and keep Cade and his nephew from harm. This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the first book in the Mountain Country K-9 Unit series. I was pulled into this story right away. I really connected to the characters in this book. This book has a lot of suspense and action with a little bit of romance mixed into it. I really loved the K-9 dogs in this book. I love a book that works animals into the story. The only thing I really did not like about this book was the ending because I felt the story just stopped there was no true end in my opinion. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Love Inspired Suspense) or author (Laura Scott) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
Cade McNeal is giving his sister Melissa a bit of a break. He has his nephew Danny with him when he is suddenly grabbed by a man whose intent is to grab Danny. A shout, Stop! Police! foils his attempt and before he can do anything about it, the man grabs Melissa and shoves her into a van. The woman who shouted was dressed in plain clothes and was accompanied by a dog. As it turns out, Rookie K-9 officer Ashley Hanson stopped the man from grabbing Danny, which was actually his intent. She is accompanied by her K-9 partner, Ozzy. Ashley is new in town and has just been added to a multiagency task force with hopes of tracking and catching a serial killer.
As a rookie officer, Ashley is excited that she will be a part of the task force, but with the sudden kidnapping of Melissa, Ashley is immediately reassigned. Her new boss insists it is because she was a witness to the kidnapping, and also due to the fact that her partner Ozzy is excellent when it comes to tracking.
The serial murder case is a big deal, and Ashley excitement from becoming a part of the task force was clearly short-lived and now she feels stuck. Guarding over Cade and Danny, and searching for Melissa, well this is not what Ashley had in mind. Quite naturally, Ashley wants to quickly reunite Danny with his mother, but that task force was important to her.
This warm and engaging story has Cade and Ashley as excellent characters, characters who sense an immediate connection, despite what is going on. Ozzy steals many scenes throughout, and if you like dogs, you will love Ozzy. The romance was sweet and the intrigue and action went a long way in making this first book in the Mountain Country K-9 series a compelling read, and I do hope I get to read the other four books in the series.
Many thanks to Love Inspired Suspense and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
Baby Protection Mission is an exciting first book in the upcoming Mountain Country K-9 series. I loved Cade and Ashley's story. The story started out with action, and it was that way all the way to the end. If you like K-9 stories with romantic suspense, then you don't want to miss this.
This is exciting, keep the reader on the edge of the seat suspense story! I was immediately hooked from the very beginning. I couldn't believe who the perpetrators were and their motive.
Ashley is an amazing woman! She's good at her job, compassionate and protective of those in her care. Cade is extremely likable and competent. The real star, though, is Ozzy! He's a wonderful companion, and he loves his job!
The love story is sweet and romantic! I thought it was so romantic when they cooked meals for each other. They both deserved their second chance at love! I can't wait to read the next book in this series!
Baby Protection Mission is a good clean sweet faith based easy flowing story with plenty of action and drama the characters are interesting and well round with likeable personalities I look forward to reading the next book in this series and being introduced to a new author
I received a advance readers copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review..
Baby Protection Mission is a well written romantic suspense. I throughly enjoyed the fast paced plot.. I definitely recommend this one. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
BABY PROTECTION MISSION by Laura Scott is the first book in the Mountain Country K-9 Unit series. It’s the fast-paced suspenseful story of Cade McNeal, rancher, and Officer Ashley Hanson.
Cade went to meet his sister at Elk Valley Park after he received a text from her while out with his one-month-old nephew. Thinking it odd since he’s taken the baby out so she could get some rest, he was leery when things didn’t seem right. Thankfully, he had picked up the baby out of the stroller and had a good grip on him when a man ran at him trying to grab the baby just as he heard his sister’s scream to save the baby. When kidnaping the baby was foiled, the perpetrator grabbed Melissa, his sister, threw her in a van and escaped just as a police officer, while walking her K-9 in the park, arrived to give an unsuccessful chase. After his parent’s death six years ago, he had felt more like his sister’s parent than brother. He’d taken over full responsibility on his family’s McNeal Four Ranch providing them a living and for all their needs. Cade had to find his sister! Plus, Danny, needs his mother.
Office Ashley Hanson had just been assigned to the multiagency K-9 task force to help find the Rocky Mountain Killer. The cold case of three murders from ten years ago had been just recently reopened when two recent murders were tied to them through bullet tested proving they had all been shot from the same weapon. All the victims had been members of the Young Rancher’s Club. Ashley’s automatically gotten some push back on this assignment because it appears she may be on the team due to her father, the Bureau Chief in the Washington FBI office, and his influence. She’s out to prove to them that she and Ozzy, her scent trained K-9, will be a contributing and integral part of this team. When she happens to be at the right place at the right time of the attempted kidnap of a baby and the successful kidnapping of the baby’s mother, much to her dismay, she was partially withdrawn from the one case in order to continue to be part of the kidnapping case. However, she’s determined to stay in the loop on the Rocky Mountain Killer case as well.
Cade’s heart had been trampled by the woman he had once thought he would marry. When her true colors came out, he really wondered why he’d ever thought they would have had a lasting marriage. It left him determined to keep his heart in a vault. Besides, he’s too busy with the work needed to run a ranch and with his only family – his sister and nephew. That’s all he needed. Or was it? Seeing how well Ashley blends into his every day life and her willingness to lend a hand when not necessary might have him having to rethink things.
Ashley was proof that once cheated on in a relationship leaves one leery. Ashley’s worked hard to get where she is determined to make it on her own with no favors from her father. Proving herself to be worthy of her position and being skilled to do her often-dangerous duty was all she wanted. Working in close proximity constantly with Cade has her seeing him for the man he is – kind, considerate, a rough rancher that could be so loving and gentle with his nephew, and a man of faith. Starting to have feelings, she reminds herself to stay professional. It's her job to protect and help to capture the bad guys while saving the victim from harm. Is it possible to have both?
Who would want to kidnap little Danny? His own father hadn’t wanted him leaving before he was even born. How will they find Melissa and can they find her before harm comes to her? Can they keep Danny away from the black masked person that seems determine to grab him? Is the ranch safe? If not there, where? Is there a connection between the recent Young Rancher’s Club murders and the kidnapping of Melissa and attempts to nap Danny? Or are they completely separate cases? Will special skills in investigating give them any clues? Can they set a trap or will it back fire on them? Can Cade and Ashley fight their attraction or will romance start to bloom? If so, what will the future hold. Through it all, most importantly, can they keep Danny safe and happy?
BABY PROTECTION MISSION is definitely a read in one sitting book because you will find it impossible to put it down. It’s a story of family, dedication to one’s profession, suspense, loyalty, sweet growing romance, danger and mystery. Laura Scott wraps it all expertly with a thread of faith that adds quality to the story. BABY PROTECTION MISSION is positively a FIVE STAR story that I highly recommend to everyone. Regardless of the genre you read, this story will touch your heart – for baby Danny, for K-9 Ozzy, Cade’s love of family and his faith in God and for the clean romance that blooms within the pages. Do yourself a favor and grab a copy for yourself today!
I receive a copy of this book with no requirement or expectations of a review. All opinions are completely my own. #LoveInspiredSuspense #InspirationalRomance #MountainCountryK9Unit #ChristianRomance #mustread
His sister Melissa’s text said to meet her at Elk Valley Park. Cade was there. Holding his nephew, baby Danny. And then things get ugly.
One of the kidnappers headed for him and the baby. They ended up grabbing Danny’s mother, Melissa. Did the kidnappers really want Danny? Who were they? Why? Danny’s only one month old. And why Melissa? All Cade knows is he will protect Danny with his life. And he will do everything he can to get his sister back, unharmed.
A black lab wearing a K-9 vest along with a female officer runs by him. Her name is Ashley Hanson and she is on a multiagency K-9 task force team to find and capture a serial killer. The team leader acts as if her father (FBI) made a call to add her to the team and if that’s the case, she can’t blame the team lead. It makes her angry as well. Shortly, she finds she can attend the task force meetings but she is assigned to protect Cade and little Danny.
You will grow to love K-9 Officer Ozzy. He’s search-trained and excellent at his job. I have a friend who participates in meets for agility AND for search. Her Charlie keeps getting better and better at both, often winning the top awards. And guess what breed her dog is? So I was intrigued to see how the author utilized Ozzy in the story. I was not disappointed; the bond between Ashley & Ozzy is close. Did you know that a search dog such as Ozzy can hold one hundred million UNIQUE scents in their brain? I didn’t either. Ashley uses a different word for each “seek”, for example, “Seek Glove” or “Seek Melissa”.
There are reasons Ashley hadn’t said a prayer — well, in a long time. But Cade is a praying man. It is something that I don’t think the character thinks about — like, I ought to pray about this. Instead, he just prays. He wears his faith like a favorite old sweatshirt. His faith is part of him and Ashley finds comfort when he prays.
The attack in the park is not the last time the kidnappers try to get Danny. And they are dangerous. They will kill anyone who gets in their way as long as they get the “kid”. Ashley may be a rookie but she’s a good cop and Cade finds that she is willing to watch Danny while reviewing reports, etc. while Cade does ranch chores. The more they are together, the more each appreciates and likes the other. Then it becomes important that nothing happens to that person … … …
Turns out there are several people who might want to grab Danny — all for different reasons.
I’ve read and reviewed several Laura Scott suspense books and truly enjoyed reading this one. It has a dog; I have a dog. Okay, he’s not a searcher like Ozzy but he a treasure to me. The story has intrigue. The continued attacks keep the story suspenseful. And I genuinely appreciated how the author handled Cade’s faith so it was just part of him.
I received a complimentary DRC (digital review copy) of “Baby Protection Mission” via NetGalley from the publisher, HARLEQUIN – Romance (U.S. & Canada), Love Inspired Suspense. A positive review was not required; the opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Rating: 5 stars Series: Mountain Country K-9 Unit #1 (each book in the series by a different author) Cover: So glad to see “Ozzy” on the cover. Pages: 211. Publish Date: 26 Mar 2023 #BabyProtectionMission #NetGalley #LauraScott
Jump right into the action as Cade, owner of the McNeal Four Ranch, arrives at the Elk Valley Park in Wyoming to meet his sister Melissa. He is puzzled by her text request as he has been taking care of her one month old baby Danny while she gets caught up on her sleep. Enter a masked assailant and Cade’s sister desperately screaming for him to protect Danny, followed on the scene by police officer Ashley Hanson and her K-9 partner Ozzy, a black lab.
Ashley is there as part of a larger investigation by the FBI and other law enforcement agencies into a cold case that has been revived when two new murders seem to be similar to the five previous murders. She is a rookie with a lot to prove as her father is a top official in the F.B.I. in D.C. Ashley has good instincts, a kind heart, and excellent rapport with her tracking dog.
The kidnapping of Melissa is confusing because it seems she might not have been the intended victim. Ashley, with help from her team’s support group, investigates the many possible perpetrators and their motives. While she does her job of detecting and protecting, she also tries to help out Cade by doing a little cooking and caring for Danny so he can perform the essentials of feeding the livestock twice a day. As there continue to be more life threatening events, Ashley stays at the ranch and alternates guard duty with Cade. Their physical proximity leads to feelings they know they need to keep a lid on.
Cade is a Christian and he prays with Ashley before every meal, a practice that is not part her life. She appreciates, however, that he gives thanks to God for the food and His protection. He also asks God to protect Ashley and the others involved in the search for his sister as well as for the safety of Melissa and Danny.
I enjoyed this story, especially the efforts of several K-9 officers. Watching them work has encouraged Cade to get another dog when everything settles down. Ashley and Cade each have past issues they need to work through before they act on the attraction they have for each other. The other officers in the story are respectful, hard working, and supportive of each other. Surprisingly, there are none of the power plays between different agencies as is often depicted in the movies. I liked the conclusion of the kidnapping thread in Baby Protection Mission. The wider search for the murderer in the cold case was not resolved, and I assume it is a continuing thread in future books in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Baby Protection Misson by Laura Scott (Mountain Country K-9 Unit Book 1) When a baby is targeted, Can a K-9 team keep him safe? When his sister is kidnapped, rancher Cade McNeal will do anything to prevent his baby nephew from being next. Now Officer Ashley Hanson and her K-9 partner are on the case, and it’s up to them to track down the assailant and keep Cade and his nephew from harm. But as the suspect list grows and the attacks escalate, will they bring a kidnapper to justice…before he strikes again? This is Cade McNeal, sister Melissa and baby nephew Danny's story. This is Ashley Hanson and her K-9 partner's story. Something was wrong. Tugging his brown cowboy hat low on his forehead, rancher Cade McNeal cradled his one-month-old nephew, Danny, to his chest as he scanned the area around him. His sister, Melissa, Danny’s mother, had been acting strange lately. Jumpy, nervous and, of course, exhausted from caring for her son. She’d asked for some time alone to sleep, so he’d taken the baby with him to the store to pick up ranch supplies for the McNeal Four Ranch they’d inherited from their parents following their death six years ago. After picking up the necessary supplies, he’d lingered in town to give her extra time to sleep, buying packs of diapers, other baby supplies and some toys. “Stop! Police!” Another female voice reached his ears. The masked man abruptly shoved Cade forward. Now it was his turn to be caught off balance, his booted feet slipping on the snowy ground. When he felt himself falling, he twisted his body so that he fell on his right side to protect Danny. He struggled to sit up as a woman dressed in gray slacks and a puffy black coat, accompanied by a black dog, ran toward him. Cade turned to look for the masked man in time to see him brutally shove Melissa into the open door of a dark van. Melissa screamed, but then there was only silence as the assailant jumped in behind her and slammed the door. Whoever was driving took off. I recommend this book. Baby Protection Misson by Laura Scott is a 5 star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Laura Scott. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Mountain Country K-9 Unit Book 1: Baby Protection Mission by Laura Scott Book 2: Her Duty Bound Defender by Sharee Stover Book 3: Chasing Justice by Valerie Hansen Book 4: Crime Scene Secrets by Maggie K. Black Book 5: Montana Abduction Rescue by Jodie Bailey Book 6: Trail of Threats by Jessica R. Patch
I would read this book just by looking at the cover with the majestic black lab showcased on the front. Ozzy is the K-9 featured on the front cover, and he will quickly be your favorite character.
Cade is taking care of his nephew, Danny. when his sister comes running out of the woods instructing him to run and keep her son safe. Someone kidnaps her right in front of Cade. To say he is traumatized is not even a good word. He has no clue who would want to kidnap his sister.
Ashley is an officer with the Elk Valley Police Department. Ashley and her K-9 officer, Ozzy, are first on the scene. Ashley is tasked with keeping Cade and Danny safe until they can figure out what is going on. The mystery was interesting, and the author provided plenty of suspects to choose from. I always enjoy a book with a K-9 in it. Ozzy plays a major role in this mystery with his sniffing skills and protection skills. The faith thread is interwoven into the story as both characters have to lean on their faith for survival. The suspense really snowballs toward the end of the story. Both characters have some things in their past that have left their mark on each of them, but it also brings them closer together as they can feel each other's pain. This is the beginning of a new series known as the Mountain Country K-9 unit. It is a great start to what I know will be a wonderful series showcasing K-9's.
Ashley is also part of the Rocky Mountain Killer Task Force as they are looking for a killer, which I assume will build as each book is released.
Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Baby Protection Mission. This is book one in the continuity series Mountain Country K-9 Unit. Laura's one of my favorite authors so it's a great way to start the new series. Like all Laura's books it's well-written, action-packed, and full of faith. You are going to love it.
Rancher Cade McNeal has taken his one-month old nephew to the store with hm. His sister needs some time alone to sleep. His sister sends a text asking him to meet her at Elk Valley Park. When he arrives at the park a man dressed in black runs toward him. Cade runs still holding the baby as Melissa screams for him to run. The man slips and falls. "Stop! Police!" a female voice rings out. Cade slips and falls. He sees Melissa shoved into a dark van.
Mountain Country K-9 Officer Ashley Hanson is a rookie on the task force. She stares at the black van. Its license plate is covered in mud. Turning to the man holding the baby she asks what is going on. The man explains that the man was trying to kidnap the baby but took his sister instead. She finds out the father isn't around here as he wanted nothing to do with the baby. Ashley calls for backup.
A terrifying journey to stay a step ahead of the man who has kidnapped Melissa and find out why he wanted a one-month old baby. God has a plan for these two, a plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. A good plan for peace and not for harm. Give Him your heart and watch Him work in your life.
"Baby Protection Mission" is a Christian romantic suspense. This is part of a series but works as a standalone. Unknown to Ashley, her usually-absent FBI father got her a spot on a task force (for the ongoing case in the series), and she felt like her teammates doubted her abilities because of that. She's nearby when someone tried to kidnap Cade's nephew from his arms and ended up taking his sister (the baby's mother) instead. She used her K9 to immediately track down clues and was put on the case. She helped protect Cade and the baby while also investigating possible leads. Cade's worried about his sister, the safety of his nephew, and how to run his ranch as the animals still need tending.
The main characters were engaging and reacted realistically to events. Ashley and Cade worked well together and generally got along well. They came to admire and care for each other as they spent a lot of time together. Cade (and Ashley) prayed for protection and guidance. Cade trusted that God was in control, and Ashley grew stronger in her faith. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable suspense.
I received an ebook review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.
Rancher Cade is taking his nephew Danny to the park to meet his mom Melissa, when surprisingly he sees someone in a ski mask coming at him. Melissa screams to take Danny and keep him safe. Suddenly, he hears someone yell "Police! Stop and drop your weapon!" Then the bad guy shoves Melissa in a van and takes off. Ashley is in the park with her K-9 Ozzie when she sees what is happening to Cade. The van gets away and she is given the task of keeping Cade and Danny safe as well as tracking down Melissa. Someone keeps trying to get Danny and is willing to hurt others to do it. Can Ashley and Ozzie keep them safe and still help to track down Melissa's kidnappers?
The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with an action and character oriented storyline that has a few kisses only. The characters are vivid and engaging. The Christian ideals are worked in seamlessly without taking any punch from the action. The overarching mystery that will go on throughout the series is introduced as well. I am happy to start this new series that has started out with a bang! I can't wait to see what happens next! Enjoy this action packed Christian suspense romance.
Woohoo! We’re at the start of a new Love Inspired Suspense continuity series featuring K-9s. That right there has sent me into a euphoric state of bibliophile bliss. Plus all the books will be available in audible format too which has me a tad shy of giddy. I know, I’m such a ridiculous book nerd.
Laura Scott has us off to a great start with lots of adrenaline rushes and high intrigue. And, seriously, who can resist a rough, tough cowboy cradling a baby in his arms? Not me!
So, the suspense in this first novel deals with an abduction which involves lots of tense moments and heart-stopping action scenes, but there’s also an over-arcing series suspense involving a serial killer. We’re introduced to all the team members in this book though the focus stays mainly on Ashley and her K-9 partner. And I love that it’s a multi-state task force so we’ll get to do some traveling as we follow the team on the hunt for a killer.
An absorbing, quick read (or, in my case listen). Jennifer Jill Araya’s narration enhanced my ‘reading’ enjoyment that much more.
This first book in the series is a clean Christian, suspense romance centering around K-9 Officer Ashley Hanson and rancher Cade McNeal. During a run with her K-9, Ozzy, Ashley comes across the kidnapping of Melissa McNeal as her brother, Cade is struggling with the criminal. The moment Melissa is taken, Ashley is determined to keep Cade and baby Danny safe. While protecting both Cade and Danny, feelings developed, as the danger continues. Who is the person that kidnapped Melissa? Was it her ex or Cade’s ex? Why kidnap a baby? Intertwined with this kidnapping, is the involvement of the FBI and a multiagency K-9 task assigned to find a serial killer that struck 10 years ago, and recently has reappeared. In the end, will Melissa and the kidnapper be found? Will Cade, a man for whom family is everything, get a chance with Ashley? While part of the mystery is solved, the other will continue to be followed in the subsequent stories. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Harlequin Love Inspired Romance. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Who kidnapped Cade McNeal's sister, and why do they want her infant? Does K-9 officer Ashley Hanson and her lab have what it takes to keep them safe? And is there any connection between this case and the Rocky Mountain Killer, who murdered three young men a decade earlier and just recently added two of their friends to the list? "Baby Protection Mission" by Laura Scott is the first of the Mountain Country K-9 Unit series. If you've read many Harlequin Love Inspired novels, this is what you'll expect in great characters and edge of the seat action.
Criticisms that have no effect on the five point rating of this book. One, I like the picture of the dog on the cover, but to me, the baby doesn't look real. Of course, you can't judge a book by it's cover. Two, a year ago the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit series started with "Shielding The Baby," another story where a toddler is target of kidnapping, likewise written by Laura Scott. Like I said, does this diminish the quality of the story? Nope.
I recommend this book, and hope you enjoy it as well.
What a great start to a new K-9 series. Police officer Ashley Hanson isn't too happy with her father because she wanted to be on the multi agency K9 taskforce by her own doing and not because her FBI father got her a spur on the team. As she was the one who witnessed someone who tried to abduct Cade and Neal's baby nephew and instead abducted Cade's sister, she is pulled off the Rocky Mountain Killer case and is assigned to work the abduction case. Ashley and Cade worked well together. Even though she was investigating the case and danger showed up on Cade's ranch, she still helped out with his nephew and with meals while Cade tended to the animals on his ranch. It was sweet to see Cade's care and concern for his sister and nephew and their wellbeing. Baby Protection Mission was an engaging suspenseful read with the search for the kidnapper as well as the ongoing investigation of the Rocky Mountain Killer. I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Ashley is assigned to protect Cade and his nephew after his sister, Melissa is abducted when an attempt on her son failed. The story was quick paced and broad but not deep. Cade and Ashley had growing feelings during their forced proximity. Their histories and appreciation for one another was sweet, but the constant statements of needing to distance themselves from one another because of the unfortunate circumstances didn't really reinforce their depth of feeling.
I could tell that this was the beginning of a series where other barely mentioned characters would return. Unfortunately, I felt like there was too much going on for this one story to feel complete. The overall storyline of the series is left completely undone, while Cade's sister's abduction was solved.
Thank you, NetGalley for providing an ARC of this title.
When Cade's sister is kidnapped, he will need the help of rookie K9 officer Ashley and her dog, Ozzy, to keep his nephew, Danny, safe and sound.
I loved the relationship between Ashley and Ozzy as a scent dog. Cade's warm demeanor toward Ozzy and Danny was an endearing quality for Cade. It is nice to see a rookie cop like Ashley shine in this book. You don't see too many rookie characters in books which made this book stand out.
I enjoyed the story and the interweaving of two crime investigations together. I also enjoyed the two characters developing as the story progressed. Ashley overcame her insecurities and Cade learned what real love can look like.
If you like books that emphasize the importance of family, this will be a great read for you!
Danger lurks at every turn! When Cade McNeal's sister is kidnapped, he must protect his nephew and work with Abbey Hanson, a canine officer who witnessed the kidnapping. Cade's first priority is providing protection for his nephew while trying to figure out who has his sister. Abbey Hanson is trying to prove her worth as a new member of a regional task force and is frustrated she has been assigned this kidnapping case. But she desires to protect both Cade and his nephew while rescuing his sister and finding the kidnappers. The three stay at Cade's ranch but even there they are sitting targets. Can they discover who desires to snatch the baby, harm his sister and sabotage the ranch before it is too late? You'll enjoy this fast-paced novel in a new series.
I was gifted a copy of this book by the publisher through NetGalley and all opinions are my own.
Baby Protection Mission by Laura Scott starts off with a bang when Cade McNeil’s sister is kidnapped. I liked the characters in the story. I enjoyed getting to know Abbey and Cade. I especially liked Abbey’s K9 partner, Ozzy. There is an abundance of action and suspense along with a touch of romance. There are two mysteries as they search for Cade’s sister and the Rocky Mountain Killer. While one mystery is resolved, the other will continue in Her Duty Bound Defender. Faith is nicely woven into the story. I liked seeing Abbey grow stronger in her faith. I appreciated that Baby Protection Mission is a clean story (no foul language or intimate relations). I enjoyed reading the engaging debut of Mountain Country K-9 Unit series. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Starts with a bang and takes you on a winding road. Cade (rancher) is out with his baby nephew so his sister can get some rest. He goes to meet her and she is kidnapped. Ashley is our rookie FBI K9 Agent who is out an about when it all goes down. Ozzy is the K9 and any dog lover will appreciate this book, as we meet several K9's and officers. New series that is off to a great start. There are plenty of suspects and things are popping all over. One of the red herrings I thought for sure would turn out to be the real mccoy. Fooled me. There is plenty of suspense and Cade deals with it all, the day to day and the main issues with faith. I appreciate how Laura Scott shows you that faith can be day to day enrichment. Thank you for the arc! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #BabyProtectionMission #MountainCountryK9-Unit1 #LauraScott #LoveInspiriedSuspense #Harelquin #NetGalley
Officer Ashley Hansen and her K-9, Ozzy, are assigned to protect rancher Cade and his baby nephew after kidnapping of the child's mother.
Meanwhile ranchers are being murdered, can Ashley and Cade keep Danny safe, while putting a stop to the threat. A suspenseful read, filled with action, great characters and good interaction. Ozzy is a very well trained dog, skilled in his specialty of search and rescue.
Overall, a great introduction to a new series, wonderful as a stand alone or as the entry point for the overarching larger plot. I admired Cade's strong and steady faith throughout. A highly enjoyable and entertaining read!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Laura Scott did a phemonal job writing the first book in this new six book series. Baby Protection Mission is a fast paced ploy twisting book. I listened to it on audible (amazing) the rancher the police officer and the K-9 Ozzie work hard to protect baby Ian and find Ian's mama who was kidnapped at the park. Another case is going at the same time with other K-9 police officers and their handlers trying to solve several cold case and recent murders. I didn't want to stop listening to the audible so i could do things like sleep. Get this book. It is a stand alone book but these characters will be seen again in the series. I cannot wait to get all 6 of them. Thank you Laura Scott.
Cade's sister was kidnapped and it seems the person is after his nephew next. Officer Ashely and her K-9 partner will do everything they can to protect Cade and his nephew but also help find his sister who was kidnapped. As they get closer to the person behind this it looks like the stakes are getting higher.
This was a pretty good book I really enjoyed reading it. there was plenty going on to keep the readers hooked. There was a better romance and seeing everyone fall into a comfrotable pattern of almost being a family. There were the times that popped up here and there or the sister would try to reach out to them or they were they would almost seems close to figuring out who was behind it all and why and it was just an overall fun read.
Officer Ashley Hanson and her K-9 partner are working on a cold case that has turned hot with new murders. Cade McNeal is in town with his infant nephew waiting on his sister when he is attacked, and they have kidnapped his sister and want the baby. Ashley is a witness to the attack and is now working the case. Ashley is staying at the ranch with Cade for protection for him and the baby. They are working together to piece the clues together in who has his sister and wants the baby. Seems there are a lot of suspects. Well written; held my attention, can't wait to see what is in store for the cold case conclusion.
