When cold-blooded Croc attacks with his army of snakes and alligators, it's up to Batman and the DC Super Friends to stop this reptile ruffian's sinister scheme. Boys and girls ages 4 to 6 will love this Step 2 leveled reader that features action-packed comic book-style panels!
My son and I really liked this book. It’s a step up 2 so it’s going to be a little more challenging for your kindergartener . But your still dealing with the sight words that they are going to see in kindergarten - grade 1. If you have a young one that is interested in superheroes and you want to get them involved in reading this might be something to check out from your library.
Text to self- As a kid I wished I had superpowers. I wanted to help fight the evil lurking in dark corners. I’ve always loved action and Batman. That’s probably why I gravitated towards this book. It was a super easy book to read.
Text to world- There’s always a fight against crime in the world. Real life super heroes are ordinary people who put their lives at risks for others like police officers, military, and the many others in service. Society has made us believe of this constant fight between good and evil.
Text to text- I have so many books I can relate this book to. There are many other books about Batman and Robin saving the day. There are also many other books about super heroes fighting against evil. It’s a very common popular theme. It has made its path into television and movies. I don’t think it will ever go away. There will always be more villains to create for the super heroes to save the day.
I did really like Wrecks' children's comic version of Catch Catwoman, but this comic reader did not seem as well organized. I do like it gives little ones a preview of comics and how to read them as it is a skill.
For teachers, we could use this for inferencing as it is a comic book and we must use the words and pictures to determine what is happening in the story.
