Niko is broken, as his city is broken. An unmatched assassin—yet still a just a youth, haunted by dreams of fire and blood, and robbed of free will.
Little Brona is the spymaster, and the architect of a deadly web of blackmail, kidnapping, and torture. She is a kind of mother to him, but not the one he deserves. She speaks, and Niko obeys.
The balance of power shifts when a beautiful boy comes between them, in a dance whose steps are no accident. His body can deny Niko nothing, yet his face hides a secret only Brona knows.
But Niko may not get a chance to discover it, or learn how to live out from under her shadow.
A monster stirs in the dark labyrinth of Niko's mind—and once it breaks free, not even Brona may be able to stop it.
this is right up there with Volume 3 of Captive Prince: things i'm sure will never get published because the author dies before finishing it. i don't know how supacat will meet her end, but i'm damn sure julio will be shot by ms. llewellyn for his review of the most terrible blurb ever.
in 2025 some artsy "filmmaker" will make an oscar-winning short movie out of When You Were Pixels, which will make m. night shyamalan direct a horrible prequel some greedy hollywood jackoff wrote in the back of a starbucks. it'll be called A Syntax of Memory, sure, but in a shocking twist niko will be the next aang and you'll damn well know you got ripped off paying for that shitsummer blockbuster.
To counter the asshats who one-starred a book they didn't read... probably out of spite or jealousy. !@#$ you and the horses you rode in on. Carry on, Mr. Genao.
