Uriel is one of God's Four Winds, the Archangel of Destiny. He has helped thousands of people throughout the ages find their destiny according to His will. This time however, what he doesn't realize, is that it's his own destiny he's supposed to fulfill. Heather is an exotic dancer, who's stage name is Heaven. It's not that that's what she's always wanted to do, it's just that it helps her pay the bills, and she's got a lot of bills, with taking care of her mother and her sister. When the mysterious Uriel comes into the club, she can tell he's different, just how different will rock her world...
Anne has written her entire life and has the boxes of angst-filled journals and poetry to prove it. She’s been writing for public consumption for the past several years. She lives in rural East Texas with her husband and children in her own private oasis, where she prides herself in her complete lack of social skills, choosing instead to live with the people inside her head.
Currently, she has five romance series. Playing with Fire explores the trials and tribulations of a small team of fire fighters in the fictional mountain town of Pamona Gulch. In Pierce Securities, she gives us Ryan, Evan, Miriam, Zack, Quinten, Jordan, Hollerman, and Simon. Her favorite series, Book B!tches, is all about a group of women in Mystic, Texas who get into all sorts of shenanigans. In Stories of Serendipity, she explores real people living real lives in small town Texas in a contemporary romance setting. In The Four Winds, she chronicles God’s four closest archangels, Uriel, Gabriel, Raphael, and Michael, falling in love and becoming human.
ARC received from the author in exchange for a fair review.
I should preface this review by saying that Falling for Heaven is not the sort of book I would typically read. While it is labelled as a paranormal romance, it's not what I would normally put in this class. Having said that, it is a novel of the paranormal and there is a romance. There is none of the explicit sex that I believe most of us have come to associate with this genre. I should also say that I am not a religious person and the author obviously is. So a novel that is so clearly about good (God) and evil (the Devil) is pretty much out of my realm. Having said all of this, I'll do my best to review based on the merits of the writing and the story itself.
Heather is a stripper who is essentially a good person. She strips because the money is enough to cover expenses for herself, her invalid mother and drug-addicted sister. One night Heather is dancing and encounters 2 very unusual clients in her audience. Uri, the gorgeous blonde and Damien who is dark and clearly dangerous. Heather gets to know Uri better and he reveals his true purpose to her - he's an archangel sent to guide her to her true destiny. As the story progresses, Uri finds that the tables are turned by "the boss" and it is actually his destiny that he is to find.
From the beginning it is pretty obvious that the author is setting up a battle between good and evil here. I would have liked the author to be a little less explicit in her depiction of the forces - trust your readers to determine that Damien is actually the devil; they're smart enough to know this, no need to tell them outright. I found this plot just a bit "simple" for my tastes.
The romance between Heather and Uri develops in a nice manner. The plot twist, while predictable, was well done. I really liked the author's descriptions of Uri's reaction to . I felt she depicted him in a realistic fashion as he struggled with this change. As the 2 move towards their inevitable HEA, I would have appreciated a bit more romantic tension. The sex was clean enough for my grandmother to read, and I can live with that in my books - sexual tension would have held my interest a bit more though.
All in all, this was a nice light read. The author has a good clean style and the story flowed well. It was also refreshing to read an indy published work with very few typos - something I definitely appreciate. 3 stars.

Too much paranormal romance these days focuses too much on the romance and not enough on the paranormal. Falling for Heaven by Anne Conley stands out from the rest in that the author has stepped into the paranormal and returned with a novel that puts the paranormal back into the paranormal romance genre, where it belongs. It does indeed have a wonderful romantic element, but unlike many recent efforts (Twilight?), Falling for Heaven doesn't allow itself to become an amusing , at times insufferable, parody of the genre. It stays true to what it is, a strong story with strong characters you will connect with and be swept away by. Read it once then read it twice. Not because you won't have "got" it the first time, but because it is so damn good you simply won't be able to not read it again.
I loved this book. This is a great start to a new series that is well worth your time and money. The only thing I wish is that this could have been a wee bit longer. It was such a good read that I did not want it to end. I can not wait until I get to read the second book of the series.
This was not the usual paranormal romance that I read, however I enjoyed it from the first page until the last. The author has a nice writing style and the story flowed very smoothly. The romance between Uri and Heather was well written. I also love having an epilogue to find out how the characters are doing at a later time.
Series: Four Winds #1 Category /Genre: Paranormal Romance Received from: Anne Conley (in exchange for an honest review) Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Grammar/editing: B – a few small errors
This is the first of a new series from Anne Conley. I’m told that they are each stand-alone stories and do not need to be read in order.
I remember once seeing a t-shirt that said “Being a Christian may not be easy, but the Retirement plan is out of this world!” In this series, God has decided that it is time for the archangels to retire, but there is no Senior Center in Heaven, so he has other plans.
Imagine you’re just doing your job and in walks two gorgeous guys. One is dark, brooding, gives off the sleaze vibe, and is cold to the touch, but HOT. The other is light, warm, makes you warm inside and out, and also has the hot-factor running off the scales. Both want Heather/Heaven. She knows the club rules and doesn’t date the clients, but she soon finds out that all bets are off when the clients aren’t human.
This was a fun, light, paranormal romance that I absolutely loved. Several serious topics are broached, but Ms. Conley manages to keep them from bringing the whole story to a depressing level. Hot angels are never going to lose their appeal for me. Even the Boss, unintentionally funny and with an unique fashion-sense, made several appearances.
This is also the first of Ms. Conley’s books that I have read, though I’ve been talking to her on Facebook for months. I am excited to say that I have the next two books in this series that I get to read later on this week (reviews on Mon and Wed next week). This is another one of those “why did I wait so long to read” authors.
The story of Uriel, the Archangel of Destiny, one of God's favorites. He's sent on "assignment" to earth once again, but isn't given any clues as to what his assignment is this time. Usually The Boss lets him know what destiny his mark is supposed to achieve, but this time he finds himself in a strip club. What in the world could The Boss have to show him here? This is where he meets his mark, Heaven (her stage name of course, real name Heather). Uri is drawn to her immediately, and she to him. Unlike some of the strippers who break the rules that Mama (the owner) has set, Heather isn't into drugs, performing "extra favors" for clients or even dating them outside of work. She's a good girl doing what she has to do to take care of her family. Her drug addicted twin, Tiffany, and her mother who has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. She works to pay for her mother to be in a home and rent for her sister so she isn't homeless. Plus taking care of all her own bills. Uri struggles with what The Boss tells him about this assignment because being the Archangel of Destiny is all he's ever known. And of course the Deceiver shows up to try and take Heather as his own. Since The Boss won't let him have anything good... he wants Heather because she is good. It's a great story about who you are destined to be. Really you have to read it! Uri is sweet and just *swoon*! And yes, while Uri is an angel the story isn't preachy about anything religious... it's a love story. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a great love story.
This was a fantastic paranormal romance story. This series centers around the archangels. Uriel is the archangel of destiny sent on a mission to guide Heather on a different path from being a stripper, or so he thinks. Ms. Conley has weaved an emotionally charged story around a less than perfect occupation. I felt throughout the book a strong connection to the main characters and their lives. The author does an exceptional job building these characters' personalities and pulling you into their world. The romance is slow building making it all the more gratifying when the main characters finally come together. The attraction between Uriel and Heather is instant, and the formation of their friendship is awe inspiring. I hadn't realized how much I missed the build up of forming a relationship until reading this book. Most books are so fast paced these days that we don't always feel the complete connection between characters, however Ms. Conley has taken the initiative to flesh out a complete relationship between her characters from beginning to happily ever after. I would recommend this story to anyone looking to feel the complete package of friendship and romance. This is a story I will come back and read again and again, and look forward to the next installment Falling for Grace coming out hopefully later this year. I am so pleased to have been lucky enough to stumble upon this fantastic author and look forward to following her works of PNR.
I've read many fallen angels stories and this one is in my top 10 list. This one involves Uriel, not one of the most common archangels to be written about. It was a nice change.
This book differs in that the story didn't begin with Uri already fallen. He is on assignment still in the good graces of up above. His assignment is Heather. This one is different from the many jobs he had been tasked with before. He is not given a directive with this one, only her name.Heather is a stripper. She works to support her drug addicted twin sister and their mother that has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
Uri is unsettled with her career choice but knows he has a job to do despite not being given direct orders. As he watches Heather and gets to know her, her realizes he is not the only one watching her. The Deceiver is also watching her.
Finally his objective with Heather is revealed. It's a heart warming idea. God loves his faithful servants so much that after many millennia of servitude he grants his archangels free will. Now Uri is faced with the decision of continuing to serve or to remain with the woman he had come to care a great deal about. What well he chose? Go read the book to find out. You will not be disappointed.
I fell in love with the characters and was ensnared by their journey. I couldn't put it down! I was enamored as I read Uri's reactions to emotions that we are accustomed to feeling like love, lust, and fear. Definitely worth the time to read!
Falling for Heaven is a great read. It has a different twist with Archangels and romance.
Heaven is a stripper who only dances for the money. She takes care of her drug addicted twin sister and a mother who is in a home because of a disease. Heaven does what she has to do to keep her family a family in some way. I mean we all don't want to put our parent in a home because we can't take care of them.
Uri an an archangel who was giving a mission and it has to do with Heaven. What he mission entails Uri doesn't know. The Boss hasn't told him.
Lets just say Uri and Heaven get to know each other. Heaven isn't even her real name. I will keep it at that and let you find out what it actually is. Uri is trying to figure out what he is suppose to do with Heaven when another fallen angel the Deceiver is trying to get Heaven to go his way. It is kind of like good verses evil.
Will Heaven take Uri up on his offer after Uri finds out what is mission with Heaven is? Or will Heaven follow the deceiver?
You need to read this book to find out what happens. I am not going to give to much away. I will that you will like the ending as much as I did.
Uriel, is an Archangel of Destiny. Heather (Heaven) is his assignment. All he knows is her name and has no idea what the outcome of this assignment should be. After millennia of performing his duties Uriel has become world-weary and is losing his compassion for humanity. Heaven chose the life of a stripper in order to support her drug addicted sister and to pay for her mother’s medical bills. The Father makes appearances in the story guiding Uriel along and with his odd fashion sense lightens the mood of the story. Fully aware of how Uriel feels, he gives him the choice to fall in love with Heather and become human. Damien (the Deceiver) knows this and will use his deceitful ways to try to get Heather for himself.
A light paranormal romance. Noticed a variation in the spelling of Damien (Damian) in the beginning. The “burning sensation”, “the heat”, used too many times. It took an encounter with the devil to convince Heather of who Uriel really was – such is human nature. I like books where I actually learn something and I got a few new words from this one (old English no less) - a definite plus. Uriel giggled. Do men giggle??? (smile)
This book was picked for me to read in a challenge and I must say that if I had pick it I would have stopped reading it. Heaven is a stripper who only dances for the money. She takes care of her drug addicted twin sister and a mother who is in a home because of a disease. Heaven does what she has to do to keep her family going. Uri is an archangel who was giving a mission and it has to do with Heaven. God has decided that it is time for the archangels to retire, but there is no Senior Center in Heaven, so he has other plans. This was a quick read with no erotic which I like to read the book cover is hot and the paranormal was light. But I guess when you are talking about God you I don't want to be thinking about erotic plots. Overall this book was well written this was my first time reading this author.
I really liked the premise of this story. I did not think I would enjoy Heaven the main character, but the author proved me wrong. I was not only sympathetic to her circumstances, but found myself routing for her. I like the Angel thing, it was nice to see the dark and light displayed so easily for contrast. The author brings a lot of humor and human-ism (is that a word?) to the unearthly characters in this story. It was light, but not too fluffy, perfect for an evening read. Can't wait to see what else is in store for this author.
This is my first Anne Conley book and I know due to her writing ability and the way she pulls you into a book I will read more from her.
Paranormal reads are out of my normal but I do read them from time to time. In this book it is more focused on (the paranormal aspect) and although there is romance in it its not an overbearing amount. You have a storyline that stands out from the rest.
I did enjoy this book and can honestly say that if you enjoy Paranormal read then The Four Winds series by Anne Conley is definitely the book for you.
A nice read. In my opinion it didn't seem spectacular, but it didn't waste my time. The book isn't too short nor is it long so if you have time to kill, this book would be worth the read. Nothing's wrong with the story. The writing isn't bad, the romance is a little cute, and the heroine is admirable, but I don't know...I just didn't fawn over it. If you enjoy stories with angels, romance, happy endings, and a slightly rated R sex scene or two, this book is for you.
I loved the concept of this book. God's archangels are becoming jaded in their work and God wants them to retire. In Uriel's case, he is captivated by Heather (Heaven being her stripper name) and coming to blows with Damien (the Deceiver). Heather cannot believe that Uriel could fall in love with her, but he does. She's his happily ever after. Sweet story. Easy read. Can't wait to read the others in the series!
There was something so soothing about this book. It put me in a very peaceful trance. The flowing way in which it was written just seemed to be humming Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, throughout the whole story. All along awesome story. Good vs Evil, Love vs Lust, and Destiny conquers all! Loved it! ! Ready for my next Angel!
If you like a good VS evil story, this is it! Uri is an angel who is sent on a mission to help Heather/Heaven, but he is unsure as to how to go about it. Heather is a stripper and he goes in a few nights to try an figure it out. Another figure is there as well....who wants Heather for himself. As Uri slowly figures out what needs to do, the dark figure is getting closer. All in all a great read.
This is a well-written, fluid romance with a very likeable and well-developed main character. It's not predictable, but rather had me guessing until the end what would happen.
I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
I received this book from the author for an honest review. This is sweet romance, mixed with religious references, light on the PNR elements and sexual tension. This is love story about good Vs evil and the rewards for helping others
Overall: Wow this is addicting. I wasn’t sure what to expect, other than there was maybe a religious history aspect with the archangels. Uri pretty much fits in as a ‘regular’ dude, though Damien stands out more. The dichotomy is brilliant, making it all seem like Damien doesn’t care enough to, like he’s that much more bad or something. I completely couldn’t put this book down. I literally was sneaking in sentences from it around watching my family open Christmas presents. As I wondered why I haven’t picked up this book sooner, I also realized I had a problem.
Heather is a very likable character, strong and been through way more than her share. Handles it better than most would and just… inspirational.
There are some profound quotes regarding darkness and light in this book and lots of ‘the feels’. There’s some action and leading up to it, some mystery. This book’s got it all and I read it in one sitting, around holiday chaos because I was hooked.
Editing/Proofing/Formatting: Easy on the eyes, formatting is fine. Could use another pass by a proofreader, but the mistakes don’t distract from the reading experience too much - it’s in overall decent shape.
Uri (short for Uriel) is an archangel who's searching for his target for "The Boss" but isn't exactly sure what he is supposed to do. Heather works as a stripper under the stage name Heaven, but as Heather she takes care of her drug addict twin sister Tiffany, and her pet Chihuahua named Taco. After Heather sees Uri at the club she dances at, she is immediately drawn to the handsome, mysterious stranger, and in spite of club policy that it's not allowed for dancers to become involved with clients, she finds herself opening up to him and trusting him. Uri isn't supposed to feel, just follow orders, but ever since the night Heather caught his eye he can't stop thinking about her, and doesn't realize that he's falling for Heather as he gets to know her better. However this assignment he's been given is still a puzzle to him, and he cannot figure out what Heather's destiny is, and that bothers him. What a terrific paranormal romance story; I loved the writing and the characters, I loved the romantic development between Uri and Heather. I would love to read more from the Four Winds series!
A surprisingly fun read, wasn't sure I'd like it, but the more I read the more I couldn't stop. It's a paranormal romance, there is a tasteful amount of sex, not too much, just right. But the paranormal part leans towards the religious, archangels and God. I'm not a Christian, but that doesn't mean I don't love Christian lore, and while stories like this could be off putting to someone like me if done wrong, this wasn't. It was written beautifully and we'll balanced, I can't wait to read more about the other three archangels. I'll be telling everyone I know who likes paranormal romances to read this series
