C.D. Reiss

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestselling author. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping a single cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

(Warning: This review contains spoilers if you haven't read the first three books in the Songs of Submission series - Beg, Tease, & Submit)
At the end of book two in the Songs of Submission Series, Monica was left reeling after Jonathan's ex-wife Jessica described how she had broken her wrist. We were dying to know,

Jonathan?

This book is told 100% from Jonathan's point of view - which is AWESOME - and starts at the moment he moment he drops off Monica following the Eclipse Show. We get to see exactly what went down with his ex-wife that night, and all the raw emotions which continue to effect Jonathan following their divorce.

JONATHAN DREZEN
"I don't want to hurt anyone. You're so fucking vanilla, Jess. It's like a religion. You can't see outside it."
JESSICA
She was a bundle of nerves, which no other person would notice because she never wasted a movement. She didn't have a set of sweet little tics like Monica. Jessica was still water, her tension revealed in her gaze, which sat in the middle distance.
I wasn't thrilled to see the behavior that either character exhibited in this novella, and we're beginning to see how toxic their relationship was... especially near the end.

Which by the way... Jessica,

★★★★★! Dominance Series! Stories of woman dominated by the same man, during different times!

“You’ve been a bitch, goddess. That’s over. From now on, you step when I say walk. You eat when I feed you. You come when I allow it. If I so much as look at your knees, you get on them and open your fucking mouth.”

The Submission series is the whirlwind saga of aspiring singer Monica Faulkner and hotelier and real estate magnate Jonathan Drazen. Books/novellas should be read in order:

My individual reviews of bundle:
Book 3.5: Jessica & Sharon
Book 5.5: Rachel
Book 7.5: Monica

A smile spread across my face, and I laughed so hard I had to pull over. Laughter overtook me, turning to tears and back to a deep, silent laughter in my chest again. From relief. From a break in tension. From sheer joy. I was free. Fucking free.

So, this is a very short story describing what happened between Jessica and Jonathan before he left for San Francisco. It is given from Jonathan's point of view and the best thing here is that Jonathan was not lying to Monica.

JONATHAN - INTENSE - DEEP - DARK & DOMINANT.

So, Monica gave him a Gin & Six-pack on their first meeting but he didn't need the Botanicals exquisitely trickling down his abs; he'd already drunk her in with his eyes and was currently fucking her with his mind: one way or another she was always gonna get him wet, and Jesus Christ he was drenched.

Hey, so just to reinforce for us what a player Jonathan is, or was, he's just met Monica at his Hotel K and he's already decided that she's special. However, he's got Wendy waiting in a bedroom with her legs in the air while she metabolises her Colombian Marching Powder, to summarise:
Special@K with Bendy Wendy sounds like the Breakfast in Bed from Hell.!!

So, Jonathan's met Kevin and he's not too impressed with that self-absorbed Fuckwit's emotional manslaughter; no it brings out his protective instinct. He may want to fuck Monica to within an inch of her life, but he doesn't want to damage her, oh no.!!! No one else is going to take a trip down the Faulkner Coal Mine if he can help it, and let's be honest, he's struck a deep seam of Dark energy in there which he intends to exploit to the full, but for his benefit only, well, maybe hers too.

So, Jessica then; she thinks she's still got Jonathan on a short leash and summons him to her presence.
Oh dear, Erik has gone Viking somewhere else and, oh no, he's not got a pair of horns after all, to quote Monty Python, he's Erik the Half a Bee. This leather skinned Ocean Glider is a Surfer not a Pillager and he's no longer riding the waves with Jessica looking for the Big One.
He's even taken his BBQ Grill, so, no more fires in her Back Yard, either.
So, Jonathan's back on the menu but, guess what, he's no longer looking for an Entrée, he's tasted the Forbidden Fruits elsewhere, and now he wants his Just Desserts, oh yeah.!!! He so nearly cracked. He'd wanted her back for so long; but wait, she's not offering a reconciliation, she wants to start over, go back to the beginning. She's offering the purest Vanilla, but it's no good, they've traversed the Rocky Road and now he wants Hot Fudge Sundae with Chilli Sauce. Monica can handle the Heat.
Ten Pound Blue Balls or not, he'd walked out the door and left her; until she fell over and broke her wrist.

We all know what Jessica told Monica the next day.
We know what happened when Jonathan got back from his trip.
Now we know why, and we know why he's rejected Jessica. We don't know "what they went through", we don't know how they "hurt each other" and we don't know "all the promises" he made her. We do know she's back with Erik, but we don't know if she intends to harass Monica any further. Oh, and we've no fucking idea what Kevin is up to.
Roll on.

Sometimes it's the small things that are the best!

I don't quite know why I waited so long to read the shorter books from the 'songs of dominance' series. This one was only 19 pages, and as the author says 'Songs of Dominance' novellas are more like little extra 'scenes' to add more insights into the characters from the 'songs of submission' books. So ok, technically you don't need to read them in order to understand the Songs of Submission series but I'm so glad I did.

This one in particular allows us more of an insight into Jonathan and his relationship with his ex wife (whom I affectionately refer to as Bitch Face), its written from Jonathan's POV, and lets face it, the more written about the gorgeous and dominant Jonathan Drazen, the better!

Oh and I couldn't miss this opportunity to yet again share with the world MY Jonathan.............

I loved getting a chance to see Jonathan's POV. Even though the initial moments with Jessica made me want to squeeze the life out of his balls he made up for it with his inner musings over Monica.

I am just dying to uncover all of his dirty secrets.

4.5 stars for me

I enjoy reading scenes from the male point of view.
It's the only way that we really get inside a man's head! And Jonathan's is certainly worth it.

I'm very much looking forward to the next sequence.

This is a collision of music, art, BDSM, dominance, submission, possession, obsession, guilt, unresolved love, unforgettable sex and memorable characters.

CD Reiss masterfully weaves a plot full of mystery and suspense while giving us erotic love scenes to rival all best selling books in any genre.

I fell in love with Jonathan from the first. Just like Monica, this man was so real and mysterious that he immediately gripped my heart and did not let go. I adore Monica with her sarcastic view of life and quick wit. She is a survivor and fighter. She deserves to succeed. The way the story evolves, her path to success and a happy ending is not a given and is fraught with obstacles.

I became very emotional while reading this series. I have to admit that I experienced every emotion possible to a human being while I devoured these pages. At the end, I was sobbing relentlessly, unable to control myself. I had no clue how CD Reiss was going to end the series and I must tell you the ending will ... surprise you. I did not expect it after reading all the installments.

NO SPOILERS HERE! This is one of those series that any reader of romance and erotica must read. It is unique in the quality of the writing and its plot line. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a superb book and loves life.

Okay, well I feel like Jessica and Sharon might as well be the same book, since they happen right after each other and are both super short, so I'm just going to copy and paste this review for both books.

I'm really glad that we FINALLY got some answers about Jonathan's feelings for Monica and Jessica. I was feeling really iffy about continuing on with this series after the third book, because I was having trouble shipping Monica and Jonathan romantically, but these little novellas helped me get over that and now I'm really excited to see what happens in this next book!

The only reason I rated these three stars instead of higher is because they were so short that there wasn't much to judge them on in terms of their quality.

Short but clarified Johnathan's feelings, that were hinted at in the Sbmit book. I got the feeling Jessica wasn't rainbows and sunshine when she talked with Monica at the end of Tease. Now I definitely know what her motives are. Johnathan comparing Monica and Jessica in his head, then eventually choosing Monica was the sweetest. Can't wait for more.

Short little book of Jonathan’s POV which is was kinda just like fine ig. Idk what the real point of this was like I didn’t get anymore insight into him and it feels like hearing the same thing he alreayd said. Here’s quotes that were lowkey funny.

“How do I like it, Jess? Maybe you can just repeat back to me what you told all your friends?”
“I needed to tell someone!”
“Everyone. You told everyone that I wanted to beat you. Beat you?”
“You changed, Jon. I was scared.”
We’d been through it so many times, the tracks of the argument were smooth and well worn, but that felt different. It felt like the last time”

CRYING

“You’re so fucking vanilla, Jess. It’s like a religion. You can’t see outside it.”

Told from Jonathan's POV regarding his meeting with Jess-the ex. There's really not much to say as it is extremely short. It was nice to be inside his head & how he felt about her. Makes me like her even less. She's a manipulative bitch, plain & simple.

Definitivamente, odio a Jessica. ¿Te quedas sin un hombre y vas con el otro? Perra!
Y la actitud de Jonathan no me agradó del todo :/
