I’ll get you and your little dogs, too!

Veterinarian Poe Madigan enters The Fur Ball with her Jack Russell terriers (aka The Terrible Two) to compete for a substantial cash prize that will keep her mother from losing her home. But when her fabulous partner sprains his ankle, Poe must trade him and his talented Bichon for a sexy, muscle-bound hunk who can't dance and his Basset Hound, Lazy Daisy. If that's not enough to make her despair, it seems The Terrible Two have angered someone and they're receiving death threats!

Security specialist Jared Taylor promises one of Poe's friends that he will go undercover as her dog dancing partner to protect her from danger. He didn't expect to find his staid, traditional life would be turned all topsy-turvy and he would find a soft spot for a neglected hound and fall for a Goth princess. But when he reveals who he really is and why he is in Poe’s life will it destroy the foundation of trust they’ve built? Could he lose the real prize - Poe?

Hounded by Zoe Dawson
Going to the Dogs Series Book 3
Poe Madigan judged her men in an unusual way. Were they bacon worthy? Would they be Zombie killers or Zombie food? She tended to date the more brainy guys who were more likely food than killers. When her partner for the Fur Ball had to back out he was replaced with a definite bacon worthy Zombie killer type. It didn’t take long for the hunky Texas and his adorable basset to work his way into her heart and home.

Jared Taylor felt he owed his life to the man who rescued him when they were in the war overseas. So when his sister asked him for a favor he didn’t hesitate to say yes. To enter a dance contest with her friend so that he could be her bodyguard without her knowing it. Seems he needed some shields of his own to protect him against this unique woman he was protecting. And when she found out he hadn’t been completely honest with her would there be any hope for a future?

This series is about four friends who met at a dog park. Poe’s two dogs are known as The Terrible Twosome. Two Jack Russell terriers who are a bit too smart and busy for their own or anyone else’s good. Callie and Brooke’s stories were told in the first two books; Leashed and Groomed for Murder. The fourth friend Harper Sinclair, will have her tale told in the fourth book; Collared. You can actively help choose Callie and Owen’s wedding cake by going to Zoe Dawson’s blog, http://zoedawsonauthor.blogspot.com/ , and help vote on the cake. The contest ends July 31st, 2013.

Hounded by Zoe Dawson
(Book #3: Going to the Dogs series)
Source: Purchase
Rating: 5/5 stars

POE!!! Poe Madigan and her Terrible Two (the terriers known as Edgar and Allan) are the focus of Hounded, book three of Zoe Dawson’s Going to the Dogs series. Of the dog park group of girls, Poe is by far the weirdest of the bunch. Poe is a strange mix Goth girl and nerd with a passion for animals and bacon and a true belief in a Zombie Apocalypse. Does it really get any better than this? Yes, it does. When Poe gets nervous, she has a tendency to ramble super-intelligent veterinary type stuff.

Poe’s story begins with a nasty mugging that leaves her in the hospital and the Terrible Two temporarily missing. As always, the dog park girls rally around their own and come running to Poe’s bedside; one which is carrying the Terrible Two. But, Harper goes a bit further than a hug and an offer of a night or two stay at the penthouse. Harper, totally unbeknownst to Poe, enlists the help of her friend and security expert Jared to watch over Poe and ensure her safety. How does Harper pull this off? Cleverly! She pays off Poe’s dance partner for the Fur Ball dance competition and inserts Jared as the replacement. The only two problems? Jared can’t dance and the competition requires canine competitors. So, Jared borrows a dog from his brother and prepares himself to be humiliated in front of a large audience. What could possibly go wrong?

As Jared and Poe get to know one another they both discover a ginormously inconvenient attraction to one another. Poe is hot, a little naughty, a little nerdy and all kinds of right as far as Jared is concerned. Jared is a smokin’ hot man with an interest in half Goth/half nerd veterinarians who fits so nicely and comfortably into her life as far as Poe is concerned. To seal the deal, Jared runs through the streets and gets all kinds of banged up in order to save on of the Terrible Two. But, Poe can’t afford to get distracted; she has to finish her residency, find a real job and win the Fur Ball dance competition so she pay off her mother’s mortgage. Oh, and the mugging has turned out not to be an isolated incident but an ongoing threat to both Poe and her dogs. Crapsicles!!!

Slowly but surely, Jared and Poe come together as a couple but there is always the threat to Poe and the dogs hanging over them as well as the real reason Jared has come into her life. For a variety of reasons, Poe has a hard time relying on others so it is a particular betrayal when the truth of the situation finally comes to light. Poe has to come to terms with everything and accept both Jared and Harper back into her life or continue on as she always has, self-reliant and alone. For a girl like Poe, this is a hard decision to make especially when she single-handedly resolves the threat to her safety.

The Bottom Line: I am totally and completely in love with this series!! Even with the same characters, Dawson manages to keep everything fresh and new. Poe is a gem, Jared is a doll and the Terrible Two are simply fantastic!! Seriously, the scene with the TT’s and the classical music is priceless!! Dawson delivers yet another fine read in the Going to the Dogs series and I will truly, truly be sad to see this series come to an end with book four. The writing style is smooth and easy, the plot is filled with light suspense, humor, excellent dialogue and, some yummy naughty bits. Well done Zoe Dawson; you have created a super-fan who will sing the praises of your work far and wide. Woof!!

This is book three of this series and they just keep getting better and better. The first two were really great and I didn’t think you could beat it, but Zoe has done just that.
Hounded is Poe’s story and Poe I have to say is my favourite of the four girls, and the Terrible two are just so darn cute! I love them all but Poe I just relate with more. Poe gets mugged and threatening letters, so her rich friend, Harper, secretly hires a body guard for her.
Jared is a specialist and ex- marine that served in Afghanistan with Harper’s brother and Aiden had saved him. Harper calls in a favour with Jared to protect Poe until the private investigator she hired also find who is after Poe.
Sounds good doesn’t it? I love all of the characters they are so well developed and grow in each book. The women are strong, intelligent, and independent. The men are the perfect hero types each one in each book very different, and the dogs all are key characters also. The little mystery is just enough to add fun, depth and bring together the girls and heroes without overshadowing the friendship of the girls and the romance. Nothing about this series or book is run of the mill romance. It’s light-hearted with romance, mystery, hot sensual sex scenes, and plain fun.
I highly recommend this if you like romantic comedy, mystery, romance, charity balls, dance, and of course DOGS!

Poe is getting threats, so her friend Harper gets Jared to protect her on the sly.

What I enjoyed:
* Jared was awesome and unfortunately caught in a bad place due to a promise. His having to lie to Poe so he could protect her made things a bit uncomfortable. I loved his interactions with Daisy and am glad he kept her.
* The terrible twosome were great, especially since I don't have to deal with the mess.
*

What could have been better:
* Poe. I wanted to hit her every time she complained she could look after herself. Yes, daddy disappointed her when she was a kid, but get over it! People offering help doesn't mean they think you are incapable. This kept me from enjoying the story more.

Unconventional Poe

Leave it to Zoe to find new ways to keep a story unique. New terminology to keep the story fresh! When Harper wants to protect Poe, she convinces her brother’s friend, Jared to play a secret role. How will things change if Poe finds out the truth about his reason for being there?

OK, I have to get this out of the way: I’m a cat lady. I love dogs, have had three very special pooches in my lifetime and I’m grandmother to a delightful cattle dog mix BUT…I’m a cat lady. Now, though, I have to change my tune a little because I’ve fallen head over heels in love with Poe and Jared and the Terrible Two, Poe because she’s a goth and is into bacon and zombies and the Terrible Two because it’s awfully hard to resist Jack Russell terriers. Then there are their names—I mean, come on, Poe and Edgar and Allan? How perfect is that?

When Poe Madigan finds herself added to the Endangered Species list, she’s determined not to be diverted from her goal of winning a rather unusual dance competition because she needs the prize, a bundle of money. Trouble is, she has to have a partner and they each have to have a canine but, being the anti-social sort, she hasn’t got a clue where she’ll find a suitable replacement for the one that had to drop out. Enter Jared, undercover protector extraordinaire, and the competition is afoot. so to speak.

Needless to say, this hunka burnin’ love and his borrowed Basset hound, Daisy, soon worm their way into Poe’s life and heart. Can this seemingly no-nonsense former military man who can’t dance and a girl who defies society’s expectations and believes in the coming Zombie Apocalypse find true love? It’s possible but Poe might have to learn how to depend on someone other than herself. Perhaps Edgar, Allan and their new buddy, Daisy, will convince her it’s okay to trust.

Hounded is part of a projected 4-part series, Going to the Dogs, that revolves around four young women who become friends at a local dog park. Ms. Dawson has a charming way with words and I intend to read the first two books as soon as I can.

But I’m still a cat lady ;-)

Hounded is the third book in the Going to the Dogs Series. It is fun, mysterious, and full of laughs.

Poe and her two dogs, Edgar and Allan, or also known as "The Terrible Two", are mugged at the beginning of the story. The Terrible Two do their best to protect Poe, but it doesn't keep Poe from going to the hospital with a concussion. There her three best dog park friends, Harper, Brooke, and Callie come to check on her.

Worried about Poe, Harper hires her friend and body guard expert, Jared, to watch over Poe. But how does she do it without Poe knowing? Harper pays off Poe's dance partner and replaces him with Jared. Poe is relying on the money from the dance competition to help with her mother's mortgage and more. The problem with Jared being Poe's new dance partner, he doesn't know how to dance.

As the story progresses, so do Poe and Jared's feelings for one another. And when it becomes apparent that Poe's mugger wasn't some random attack, but a directed one with more to follow, Poe's life become even more complicated. She doesn't know who she can trust. Poe has to make a choice between walking away from everyone and the competition, and trusting those she cares about.

My favorite character was Poe. She's fun, gothic, but also nerdy. When she gets nervous, she starts spouting off intelligent veterinarian facts, which is just funny. The romance that builds between Poe and Jared is slow but steamy.

I would recommend this book to all those that love a good mystery, romance, and all in all fun series.

I received an ARC for Zoe Dawson's "Groomed for Murder" and she was gracious enough to include "Hounded" also.

Poe Madigan is being threatened and after she is mugged, she lands in the hospital. One of her closest friends goes to Jared Taylor, a former military man who now owns a successful security company. He agrees to become Poe's new partner for the Fur Ball, a dance competition that includes dogs, in order to guard her without her knowledge. Of course, things don't always go as planned. Jared had no intention of falling for Poe and vice versa but sometimes there is just no stopping the attraction that lies beneath.

Zoe Dawson's style of writing is exceptional. She includes the right balance of romance and suspense to make every novel worth the read. I still haven't read the 1st book in the series, but her books can be read as stand alone books. I am really looking forward to reading more by this wonderful author.

Love This Story

This is the first time I've read a book by this author and I loved it. Poe is a smart, sassy vet that loves animals that's having problems with an unknown threat. Knowing how independent Poe is (make that hard headed) her friend Harper hires an undercover bodyguard to watch over her. Jared protects Poe as a favor to Harper. It should have been a simple job but things get complicated when Jared falls in love with her. Edgar, Allan and Daisy are the comic relief in the story ( Edgar and Allan are Poes' jack russell terrier and Daisy is Jareds bassest hound puppy they arena riot). He entered her life based on a lie. Will Poe still want to be with him when she finds out the truth? The only way to find out is to read the book.

A great addition to Zoe Dawson's Dog series. I loved every minute of the book. Poe enters a dance competition with her two dogs and a partner that backs out. She needs to win the competition so she can give the money to her mom to pay off her mortgage. Her new dance partner that was hired by her friend Harper as a body guard but she doesn't want Poe to find out. Jared can't dance the steps Poe wants him to do and the dog he borrowed Daisy is very lazy. Can they make this work? Both of them are fighting feelings they have for each other. So many twists and turns in the book. It kept me guessing until the end of the book. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Zoe Dawson has written a series of books about 4 New York girlfriends and their dogs. She has given this, Going to the Dogs series, catchy titles including: Leashed, Groomed for Murder, Hounded, Collared, Tangled, Handled, and Captured. I recently read, Hounded, book 3. This installment features Poe Madigan and Jared Taylor. After finding out that Poe has been mugged and has received threatening notes, her friend, Harper, hires Jared to protect her without her knowing. Poe and Jared get to know each other as they prepare for The Fur Ball, a dance contest for dogs and their owners. This book has a few different story lines, includes some twists, and is a fun entertaining read.
