El Cuento Hispanico: A Graded Literary Anthology

Rate this book
This anthology introduces the intermediate Spanish student to major Hispanic writers from both Spain and Spanish America including Ana Maria Matute, Horacio Quiroga, Julio Cortazar and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The unedited, full-length fiction works featured are short enough to be read in one sitting and are accompanied by language development exercises. The graded reader eases students from simpler to more advanced material. The second part of the text studies some writers in greater depth. Six stories and more women writers are new to this edition, as are new reading strategies. An expanded version of this work will be available on the PRIMIS electronic database, allowing instructors to customize the text and have it printed to order.

Easy to get into because of the structure and breakdown. The way it is organized in three sections is also nice. Language is very advanced and refreshing to read. Enjoyed the writings that one can easily knock out pretty quickly.

beautifully written short stories by the masters of Spanish literature— Quiroga’s works were my favorite.
