After an accident allowed surgeons to reconstruct her face with Barbie in mind, Misty Cordell focused on proving to herself she's much more than a pretty face, even joining the Medusas, the first all-female Special Forces team. But when she saves a handsome pilot, it's a good thing she knows that looks can be deceiving. Because Gregorii Harkov isn't who he says he is.
As Greg and Misty run for their lives from an unknown enemy, they hardly know whether to trust one another, let alone anyone else. Can they find their way through the layers of deception to the only truth that matters?
Cindy Dees started flying airplanes while sitting in her dad’s lap at the age of three and got a pilot’s license before she got a driver’s license. At age fifteen, she dropped out of high school and left the horse farm in Michigan where she grew up to attend the University of Michigan.
After earning a degree in Russian and East European studies, she joined the U.S. Air Force and became the youngest female pilot in the history of the Air Force. She flew supersonic jets, VIP airlift and the “C-5” Galaxy, the world’s largest airplane. She also worked part-time gathering intelligence. During her military career, she traveled to forty countries on five continents, was detained by the KGB and East German secret police, she got shot at, flew in the first Gulf War, met her husband and amassed a lifetime’s worth of war stories.
Her hobbies include professional Middle Eastern dancing, Japanese gardening and medieval reenacting. She started writing on a one-dollar bet with her mother and was thrilled to win that bet with the publication of her first book in 2001.
During a training flight in Alaska Misty Cordell guides a Russian defector in a safe landing of a stolen Russian stealth aircraft. As she speaks Russian she becomes his liaison until an assassination attempt and then the destruction of the aircraft make Misty and Greg flee for their lives. Trying to sort out why it seems both sides are trying to kill them and also being drawn to each other despite the secrets both harbor makes for an intriguing adventure. Really like this series.
The plot runs in the same vein as its predecessors so rather predictable development. Dynamics between the two main characters is moderate as well as character building, very lukewarm. Poor Misty! It’s like she is being ‘played down’ compared to the other Medusas.
I enjoyed Misty’s book. Definitely wasn’t expecting it to go the way it did. I wish there was more of a closing. As for Greg I don’t know what to think of him yet. But I did enjoy it & can’t wait to read the next one now.
Misty Cordell, one of the Medusas, a group of Special Forces, made up of women, is out flying a plane in Alaska. A Russian pilot has been injured and is having trouble flying the MIG that he has stolen from the Russians. She helps him land the plane at an air force base in Alaska/ There she finds out he is not a Russian but an American.
Misty rescues him a second time when someone tries to kill him in the hospital there. Both escape and it seems like everyone including the CIA is out to kill Gregorii Harkov. He has many secrets that he won't divulge unless to the right people. As Greg and Misty are on the run, they devolp feelings for each other.
Will the relationship last? With both having secrets that they won't talk about, it's a hard guess. And why are the Americans wanting to kill one of their own?
This is the fifth book in the Medusa Project. The book holds its own in suspense as well a romance, though the suspense takes center field with the sparks between the two coming in second. A really good series overall.
While there is some romance to this book, I love the fact that they had an incredibly strong, smart woman as their main character, along with an incredibly, smart, kick-butt group of women for her team.
