Samantha Sweet and Beau Cardwell are getting ready for their September wedding, with the whole Sweet clan about to show up for the celebration. Dealing with her mother may turn out to be the least of Sam’s problems when an unwelcome visitor walks into her pastry shop—Sam’s old heart-throb, the charmer, Jake Calendar. Jake wants money for a Hollywood get-rich-quick scheme and he wants Sam to finance the deal. Can Sam convince him that the answer is ‘no’ or will he sabotage the plans for her wedding?
My love of books started with weekly trips to the library as a child and from the moment I learned to read I can't remember a time that I didn't have at least one book going. For the past 25 years, that list has grown to include what I'm reading and what I'm writing at any given time.
I began writing my Charlie Parker series when my husband and I lived on Kauai, then continued them in my home state of New Mexico. Charlie lives in Albuquerque and manages to travel to a variety of locations, wherever her investigation business and her husband's helicopter business take them. My second series featuring Samantha Sweet, the 50-ish woman who breaks into houses for a living, is set in Taos, New Mexico.
In addition to reading and writing, I've traveled quite a lot, taught writing courses, and been a speaker at a whole lot of mystery conventions and writing conferences. In my spare time I also love to paint, draw, cook and spend time at the beach.
these books are really good. Wish they were longer. Right now I am reading them on my kindle, but hope to find the paperback ( if there are any! ) and add to my library
Samantha Sweet is a week away from her wedding, when surprises come her way. Her inheritance from a great Uncle in Ireland, her daughter's father showing up and being charged with his murder. Another wedding postponed as the chase is on to learn who killed Kelly's father and framed Samantha. Wacky family members come out of the wood work, as a man claims to be setting up a new reality show, he has more secrets than can be kept tracked of. Its a quick read, perfect for the summer. The series continues to be interesting with each new story released.
Sam and Beau are getting married. The family is present as the groom, minister, wedding gown, flowers and cake; but the bride is missing. Sam has been detain by APD because she is the main suspect in the murder of her daughter's father. Sam sets out to find the answer so she can be wedded.
Samantha is trying to get married but her daughter’s biological father comes to town. It’s interesting to meet Jake and the interactions Sam and Kelly have with him. Then he gets himself killed and Sam’s wedding is postponed because she is the Taos city police chief’s top suspect. It is really interesting who the murderer turns out to be and the reason for the murder. But don’t worry, Sam and Beau do finally make it to the altar.
One week before "I do" finds Sam and Beau weighted down with wedding details and surprises. Dress woes... unexpected arrival. Unfinished cake... exposed secrets. Family tensions... surprise behest. Lovely wedding morning... surprise arrest. Oh, yes, and a murder! Now, there's a delay to catch a killer that a petty police chief is unmotivated to search out. A lot of trails to follow keep this storyline interesting to read.
This is one of those series that grabbed me with the first word and I've not been able to put them down yet. The characters are real and became family. I have fretted over what was going on with Sam and Beau from one book to The next. I empathetic time for a longtime.
Sam is a baker and owns a bakery and her boyfriend is a deputy sheriff they are the main characters. Murder happens in their town and Sam gets blamed for it so while she’s trying to plan her wedding shes trying to solve two murders too. Got started and couldnt stop reading.
Samantha and Beau are getting married! Family and friends are gathering for the event. Suddenly, the father of Samantha’s daughter appears in town chasing a business deal. He was unaware he had a daughter and that Samantha and her daughter live in Taos. Unfortunately, his death puts a major glitch into the wedding plans.
Such a good book! I read the book before this and cannot wait to read on. Such wonderful characters and a great plot. This book and all the books before this one are superb!
This story has your heart racing trying to figure out how Sam will get out of this predicament. Will the wedding take place? Start reading for all the answers and an enjoyable read.
This book started out fast and never stopped. Now I can't wait to read the next in the series. Connie Shelton is an author that I'll be ?looking for in the future.
Full of plot twists and a wedding that just doesn't seem to be getting any closer. Great surprises all the way through not the least of which is the ending!
Love this whole series. I read them all very quickly at the beginning of the lockdown. Reread them a year later and now I am getting ready to reread them again.
I probably should have skipped this book because I hate weddings, and much of the book was about the wedding. I'm sure if you like weddings, you'll like this one better than I did.
The best book yet in this series! Beau and Samantha are finally getting married or are they? Sam is the prime suspect in a murder, a mysterious letter arrives from Ireland and Sam's family are all in town. The funniest and most fun addition to this series.
I really enjoyed this book. Just like the others in the series it had me hooked into the story from the first page. I have grown to love the characters and find myself having withdrawal symptoms between the books. This book was very easy to read, had great interesting characters and the story took me on an emotional journey as one min I was smiling the next I was holding my breath wondering what was coming next. I will add the ending has a cliffhanger and I can not wait for the next book! Highly Recommend!
This was excellent! It was a bit heartbreaking to see the wedding set aside for the murder of Jake, especially since Sam and Beau and Kelly had nothing to do with it, but the bad blood at the local police level caused enough grief to make me want to boil. Glad it all finally got resolved and with a really nice ending as well. Don't want to spoil it for others, but this is a must read if you like this series...
This book did not have the same zing as the previous ones. Things got convoluted. Also I got tired of all the going to the hotel and home. This story did not flow as well as the others. And what is the box doing with shadows? How is she to know just from them until after the fact when everything comes out. Rather useless. Yet I still love Sam, Kelly, and Beau.
This is another great mystery! It grab my attention right away. The author does a good job of balancing the romance with the suspense. It picks up where the last book left off, but you can read each book as a stand alone story.
I always love Connie Shelton's books, but this is her very best! I couldn't put it down. She creates great tension throughout. I highly recommend this enjoyable mystery.
