Rebecca Shultz has always known she was adopted. She couldn’t have chosen better parents than the ones that chose her. They’ve always made her feel loved and she’s never wanted for anything—except knowing why she was given up in the first place. Until she finds those answers, Rebecca feels as though she’s stuck in her past.

In the hopes of finding those answers, she accepts a job hundreds of miles away from the only home she’s ever known. However, not everyone is happy about her arrival. Someone wants her to give up the search and go back to her small town.

What Rebecca didn’t expect to find was Ryan Thomas. No one understands the attractive ad executive the way Rebecca does. He would rather spend his free time playing baseball with the kids in the same group home where he once lived than spend it with anyone that wants to take him away from there. Rebecca understands that these kids deserve a chance. Will Ryan be able to convince her to take one with him?

With Ryan distracting Rebecca with feelings she’s never felt before, roadblocks popping up that keep her from the answers to her past, and someone desperately trying to get her to leave, will she give up before her questions are answered? Will she stay and fight to find the truth? Or will she find that she already has everything she ever needed and that home can be anywhere you want it to be?

B.L. Mooney started writing when the voices and storylines in her head ran out of room. They were getting too cramped and neither B.L. nor the characters could take it anymore, so she did the only thing she could do—she made room. She always knew she wanted to write, but vowed to make time for it later. Now that she’s made time for writing, most everything else falls to the wayside. That seems to suit the characters that keep popping up just fine.

B.L. lives in the Midwest and her other talents include in-demand cookies, a very dry sense of humor, and stealth eavesdropping. Some mannerisms, attitudes, or twists come from random sentences picked up while passing by strangers. So speak up the next time you have something to gossip about. You never know, it may just end up on the pages of the next book you read.

Coming Home is one of those books that you pick up, and the next thing you know you’re 80% through with the book. It’s a romantic suspense that keeps you on your toes as the main character, Rebecca, moves to Dallas in search of her birth parents. Along the way she runs into many roadblocks as someone is very much against her being there and will stop at nothing to get her to leave town and go back home. The questions are why and who. The author writes a story where anyone could be a suspect.

Rebecca was adopted at 5 years old from a group home, but has no memory of her life prior to that. Thankfully she has an amazing relationship with her adoptive parents and considers her mother her best friend. Although she has a happy home life, she’s always wanted to know who her birth parents were and why they gave her up. She decides to move to Dallas after receiving a job offer from Matt, the owner of an advertising firm.

The story primarily takes place within the corporate environment as she develops an unusual and strange relationship with the owners Matt and Vicki, who treat her as if she is family instead of one of their employees. There is also Wade, a co-worker who has a crush and can’t take no for an answer; Stacy, the office gossip and promiscuous close friend; Mandy, the office secretary who is extremely jealous of all the attention Rebecca receives; and Ryan, the office heart throb, who everyone is after, but has never shown interest in anyone until Rebecca comes along. When you add a series of threats including slashed tires, drugged coffee, a ransacked apartment, etc, it could be anyone that is doing this to Rebecca. The fact that she remains in Dallas instead of running home is shocking, but it shows her strength and determination.

Along the way she develops a relationship with Ryan, who had the chance to be a professional baseball player, but gave it up to volunteer at a group home for orphaned boys. Rebecca and Ryan have much more in common than they realize. The romance is very sweet and clean. I would not have minded more steaminess, but I’ll take what I can get ;) I think their developing relationship is also a reason for her to stay in Dallas.

The author does a great job developing all these characters and keeps you wondering who could be doing this to Rebecca. What I also love about Coming Home is that it’s a stand alone book with an an HEA, so no cliffhangers here. I know many readers will appreciate this. Kudos to author B.L. Mooney for an excellent debut novel! I’ll definitely be adding her upcoming book Striving for Normal to my tbr.

3.5 stars!

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The only truth Rebecca knows is that she is adopted. She does not know the circumstances that involve her adoption or her birth parents. Although it bothers her adoptive mother, Rebecca is determined to find the people that gave her up so many years ago. When she moves hours away from home for a job, she meets Ryan. They have so much more in common than either of them thought. Little did she know that on this journey, she would end up where she belonged all along. This story was filled of love, hope, and forgiveness.

Coming Home was a slow paced story, but quickly made up for it in the end. I thought I knew what was going to happen, and then all of a sudden, everything changes! I enjoyed the mystery to this story as well. Just when I thought I found the root of the problem, the author had me second-guessing myself. I love when that happens! I didn’t know which character I could trust. I felt betrayed by all of them! In the end, it was a sweet story with characters that tugged at your heart strings.

“I think I’ve always needed you. I just didn’t know you yet.”

Overall I found this to be an easy read that lovers of YA may enjoy. I liked that this story wasn’t your everyday YA read. There was tons of story and mystery to keep the reader intrigued.

Coming Home is the story that made me fall in love again with romantic suspense stories. I have tended to stay away from these recently as I have overly fond memories of those child and teen ones and never found a romantic suspense that made me do this …

Make a video trailer and send it to the author!

This is something totally out of my comfort zone and something I never would have thought I would be doing when I started blogging last year. This book is sweet but at the same time creepy. The way this book is written you would never expected the way things turn out. Last time I reviewed a suspense book I could definitely guess who was one of the bad guys. Well, this one I couldn’t. I was reading and thinking ‘ohh maybe it is this person’ or ‘wait could it be this person?’ plus I wasn’t expecting a strong romantic element here. I was expecting a sweet story about falling in love and finding yourself. Yes, we did get that but this book become is something different and interesting with a romantic element thrown in.

Rebecca wants to find her birth parents. She can’t remember anything before she was four and adopted by her parents. She has loving parents and she is very close to her mum who understands that she needs to find the truth since she can’t remember anything and was adopted as so late an age. So when she is given the opportunity to move to Dallas for a job as a graphic designer, she takes it, despite knowing that Matt, her new boss, appears to be hiding something. When she gets there everything is different and it’s at this juncture that the story takes on a different edge as mentioned above concerning the romantic element. Every successive chapter has little hints and this is why I loved the book. The kind of storytelling the author employs leaves a bread trail leading us up to the end of the book where everything comes to light.

I can’t stop fangirling over this book because B.L. Mooney has taken a cliché and used her writing skills to create a refreshing take on a story with a different angle and elements.

What an enjoyable, intriguing YA read! With the knowledge acquired from an early age that she is adopted, Rebecca has always desired to seek out her birth parents. She has a very supportive set of adoptive parents who understand her passion for discovering her past. She takes a job in Dallas that will allow her to conduct her background search. She instantly bonds with her new boss Matt and his wife Vickie, whom the reader realizes very quickly will play an integral role in the storyline. She meets Stacy, the office gossiper, and develops a friendship with her that makes the reader dislike Stacy one moment and then like her at another. When Rebecca meets the office hunk, Ryan, sparks fly, but unfortunately, that's when her troubles begin. She endures a series of misfortunes that drive her back home and end her search. However, it's an unlikely character who brings her back to Dallas with a renewed attitude to continue her search for her biological parents.

This novel has many plot twists, which keep the reader engaged. At one point when I thought I knew where the story line was headed, I was hit with a twist. I really enjoyed the secondary characters in this book. Rebecca's adoptive father is a quiet man, but in the end, he gives her wonderful advice as well as another character named Heather, who is dealing with her own set of parent troubles.

I love discovering great YA authors, and Ms. Mooney, you have acquired another fan in me! I can't wait for your future endeavors!

I enjoyed this book. There is suspense and a great who done it feel. There are some mysteries and not everything in this book is immediately revealed.

I enjoyed Rebecca as a main character. She is confident in herself and developed as a great main character. There were times when I felt like the people around her were treating her more like a twenty year old than an independent twenty six year old. I was sometimes bothered that this strong character let people around her take charge of her life so easily.

Rebecca meets Ryan at her new job. She likes him and goes slow. They have a sweet love story but I felt like their love story was secondary in this book and there was a much bigger story to be told. I would have like to see a little more spice here between Ryan and Rebecca, I think I would have felt more connected to them as a couple had I. Despite that though I really did enjoy how he quickly became her rock and that she had confidence in him.

I also wish that the pace of this story moved a little more quickly for me.

Lastly even though I did not fall in love with this book, it was a really nice read for me. There is something different about it that is very special and will keep you wanting to learn more. I will be interested to read more B.L. Mooney I want to find out what she is going to dive into next.

What a great story! A sweet romance but with suspense and intrigue as well. I loved the characters and really enjoyed watching their relationships grow throughout the book. I don't know what I was really expected but I have to say I got more than I bargained for. Which was a pleasant surprise! Usually I am pretty good at predicting ths outcome of various plot twists but I had to reevaluate my theories a couple times. Some of it I was right about but others got me...so I enjoyed that! I love Ryan...such a sweetheart and so patient and understanding. And Rebecca was pretty loveable and well adjusted though I could relate to her desire to look into the past for answers.

I won this in a giveaway but am posting this honest review of my own freewill...I love that authors give copies in giveaways and contests and believe the bestway to support them is to post reviews so new readers can decide to pick up the book. I really loved Coming Home! I whole heartedly recommend this to fans of contemporary romance and romantic suspense...although it is a lighter on the suspense than some in that genre. I hope that if you pick this up that you enjoy it as much as I did.

Rebecca knows one truth, she's adopted. She has a mother and father who loves her but she can't stop wondering who and why she was given away. Rebecca, a graphic designer, is given a job opportunity in Dallas, which happens to be where she is from. This is a chance to try and find her birth parents and find out what plaques her dreams.
Once Rebecca arrives she meets an array of different people, who all seem to have different quirks, secrets, and motives. Someone knows her secret and is trying to force her to leave. It first starts as harmless acts but they soon escalate to dangerous. Will Rebecca stay and figure out what's going on, or will she run to the only home she remembers?
I really enjoyed this book. The writing and the dialog flowed well. The characters were well developed and all of them seemed "shady" at one point or another. I was suspicious of everyone. I enjoyed the romantic aspect between Rebecca and Ryan and found myself really pulling for them to work things out. There was drama, suspense, twists, and turns.

If this book is on your must read list, don't wait to read it! No Cliffhanger either! :)

B.L. Mooney has truly captured a love story in this book, along with mystery and suspense. You think you know what is going to happen and then out of left field it changes. This book was a book I couldn't put down. I enjoy how Ms. Mooney gives so much detail and really brings to live these characters. I laughed out loud, gasped and even shed a few tears. I love a good book that can suck you in from the first chapter and keep you guessing and loving it!

I can't wait to see what books she has coming out next!

It had a good story line and though I kind of had it figured out pretty early, I really didn't! But there was a LOT of drama, got to be a little too much sometimes.

Rebecca has always known she's adopted. It's kind of hard to hide that fact in a small town when you bring home a five year old girl one day, so her adoptive parents have always been upfront and honest with Rebecca about it. That still hasn't stopped Rebecca from wondering who her birth parents are and why they gave her up from adoption. She always wonders why she wasn't good enough for them to keep. When the opportunity presents itself, Rebecca applies for a job in Dallas at an advertising firm and when she lands the job, decides it's time to pick up her life and return to the place where she was adopted from.

While Rebecca's mother doesn't love the idea of Rebecca moving away to Dallas to continue her search, she reluctantly lets her go and promises to help her resume the search for the answers she so desperately wants. Rebecca loves her new job. Matt her new boss has been so kind to her and has welcomed her with open arms. So does his wife Vicki once she gets over the initial shock of not being introduced to Rebecca before she was hired. There in Dallas, Rebecca starts to make new friends at work, one in particular being Ryan Thomas. Her co-worker Stacy tells her to stay away from Ryan since he loves to flirt but never takes it any further with the women that work in the office, preferring to spend all his time with his brother at the homeless shelter playing baseball with the kids. While Rebecca is not looking to form close bonds with people, she finds herself drawn to Ryan and he is drawn to her.

While everything appears to be fine on the work front, Rebecca is no closer to finding her birth parents. Her mom has become best friends with her boss Vicki overnight and Vicki treats Rebecca as more than just another employee. She treats her as a friend and a member of her family. Rebecca even begins to form a bond with Ashley, Matt and Vicki's daughter. But while she's forming bonds and a new developing relationship with Ryan, someone wants Rebecca to leave Dallas. It starts off small and innocent. Copying and hanging up her sketches of Ryan on the office walls, slashing her tires, and locking her out of her work computer. It slowly begins to escalate into more when a coffee left on her desk is poisoned landing her in the guest bedroom at Matt and Vicki's house. Rebecca tries to move on from that, but when her apartment is completely destroyed Rebecca begins to struggle to hold on, being watched by those around her so she's never alone, and making her regret her decision to leave home for Dallas. But at the end of the day, will Rebecca find the answers she is searching for or will the unknown party send her running from Dallas forever.

I enjoyed this book. It was a nice and easy read that was full of mystery as well. I loved Rebecca and Ryan and while they had bumps in the road I thought they complimented each other well in this story and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable weekend read. This book kept me up late at night trying to find out what would happen to Rebecca next, I give it 4 stars.

*I was given a copy of this book in return for a honest review*

I have to say this book started out really slow. You would think you were reading about someone you knew life. I have to say that I really have a lot of resect for Rebecca when most people would have given up. She had stayed strong and continue to fight to find her birth parents. When the truth came out I thought she would have handle it better then she did. It will take time. The part that upset me the most was you had read about her and the battles she goes thru to find them. That's when the book ends. I would have love to be able to how it turns out with 2 mom and 2 dads. I hope that there others who will agree with me and then maybe there will be a second book.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this book. Loved Rebecca's character and her storyline of wanting to go find her birth family. The story progressed nicely (loved the romance aspect of it), until the end. I had a sneaking suspicion about the end, but I did not imagine it playing out in that way at all. Definitely an interesting twist but still the ending felt a bit forced for me and then the story seemed to end abruptly (but that could just be me--I love long epilogues). This is a pretty good read, but nothing spectacular.
