Not what I expected.
I am glad Nemrah Ahmed doesn't write like this anymore.

The story had no clear plot, as I am still not sure if it was on cricket, revenge, the girl Almas or I don't know Maryanne?

The last conversation between Riyan and Almas was so stupid, I mean who in their right senses proposes like that.

And how did Almas get enough money to travel around the world following the cricket team? I'd think it would've cost her a lot.

Then there is this ego that Riyan has, where he expects the cricket board to wait for him to recover before announcing the future captain. Seriously?

I just give it 3 because this story is the author's earliest work plus the author is Nemrah Ahmed.
Let's dive into the theme of the novel. The story is ridiculous I still didn't get the idea of the story's main message. All the characters of the tale were weak. Not a single entry becomes successful in making an impact. The only positive was the discussion about cricket and policies in PCB. Nepotism and bootlicking are very common in cricket board. Overall an average tale with a fragile plot and with a senseless ending.

I've got mixed feelings about this book. As always, Nimra Ahmed did an amazing job and the message is well conveyed to the readers. However, at some points I found the story a bit unreal and at others dragged. Considering the age of the writer, she has done a splendid job. My favourite aspect of the book was the story of Hazrat Suleman (A.S)

This book is a work of art considering the age of the writer at that time! only in her teens

some times it was felt that its dragging but the story has its way of capturing the reader !
Its a must read book

i am still amazed that Quraquram ka Taj Mahal is not added here! it was an amazing book!

Being nemrah ahmed's fan this novel was a great disappointment for me.As I'm an honest critic too and i know passing comments is so easy but writing is painful
Well my bad cus this novel was her earlier work so maybe she couldn't handle such plot.Anyways story about paasion of Riyan's cricket.his love for cricket was explained beautifully.she did justice to rules n regulations of cricket and other minor details of cricket. The best thing is this novel can be best for Crazy cricket lover boys
Flaws as far as i found are mentioned below. Please these are my personal views and i don't want others to agree with me..it's their choice
Almaas aka amal was just a lower middle class girl.she was maid.Raniya helped her.gave her shelter..Though such women don't exist in our society
N what she did in return?.she dreamt about her rich n beautiful son n then Cursed her.Took revenges
I'm not arrogant but i found it offensive that a lower class girl dreaming about her Owner's son..i know riyan did mistake.he befriend her..but almaas should've known her limits
Then Sp was so kind so much like other common films and he helped almaas.handed her over to rich lady who without knowing background made her daughter n made her rich day n night
This was just a laughing moment for me and was so fake.
And riyan went into coma.writer proved that it happened beacuse he broke almas' heart and he was cursed.writer tried to justify "A maid can marry her owner's son" so it was worst novel.
Won't recommend anyone.
Sorry but nemrah sometimes support bad characters so much.for me Almas was unacceptable as a heroine
Me myself cant allow my brother or my son to marry a maid.
This novel was just to play with feelings of Lower class girls so that they can leave their house easily..can find Kind women like raniya n then like that lahori auntie..
Lol..n in d end maid becomes renowned fashion designer.
So weird.

Sometimes it made me feel like there r 2diff authors with same name 1is mature women & 2is a imature teenage girl. Sorry I always expect more but except few novels she always disappointed me especially from the short one's like paras, mery khuab mery jungo, bcz my first nimra ahmed novel was namal where everything was just perfect character didn't lose there personality & dumb heroins like jkp, the thrill, no one was totally evil or angel & so on.

Well let's talk bout this novel first of all i don't like the fact that a maid fell in love with her owner, then she wrote islam say we shouldn't be frnds with non Muslim with any reason & showed them greedy while its not true & muslim can also be it depends on person not his religion, then how can a poor girl can easily get rich supporting people everytime? + How PCB can gave direct captain seat to the one who was in bed for more then a year? Who lost his memory & got disabled? + She clearly didn't mention things bout marry past, her martial life & health, then how ali got into business even tho he wasn't responsible + in 1scene she showed herion working in pcb as secretary but in last she was a designer not on ... Boteque but someone else + hero committed suicide on wedding night didn't want to marry herion but endup destroying her life for the sake of family reputation like a typical men still he wanted her to be with him? Saying "wo uski bv h oro ki bviyn b to sabr krti hn sirf hariya jasi chor jati" while he forget oro ki bviyn jabhi sabr krti jab unky shoro na unky sth time spend kia ho ya bcho ki ki khtir majbori b qk wo akely ni paal skti educated independent na hony ki wjha sa + the last scene talk feel like teenagers weird frank talk

This is one of the earliest work of Nemrah Ahmad.

This story talks a lot about Pakistan Cricket Board, and all the politics that goes behind the scene for selection of players and captain, etc. I think it can be generalized to every cricket board.

The main story is of Amal and Riyaan. It talks about heart breaks. Not everyone can handle heartbreak gracefully. The book narrates how far, and how wrong one goes for taking revenge.

My favourite part is, (spoiler alert) when Riyaan goes through the tough time and realizes his flaws. I rrpeatedly prayed, “Ya Allah, aye rabb-e-kayenaat, please don’t let me or anybody go through this. Amen.”
You know when you have ego, and you know you have to curb it, but it's so damn hard, isn't it?
This has the usual mystery element that Nemrah brings to the table. However, I felt that at that time, she hadn’t got her groove. The writing style, in a few places, was very similar to two of other great names in Urdu writing scene these days.

All said and done, a nice story, albeit annoying in a few places. Do read but don't expect usual Nemrah magic.

Story is full of confusion, still, I am confused on many points.
How Amal (almas) become rich in a short time? Rameez was like a farishta, he comes in the middle of story and start liking amal then he suddenly left, then we never heard anything about him.
Almas lived in Rania home for many years, but when she left, rania or Azeem never talk about her or try to contact her.
rania was also a designer, amal become a famous fashion designer too, But Rania never heard or meet amal.
Why nobody cares about amal marriage? Her 2nd or 3rd mother (whatever) died, we don't know about his money or boteeq etc, Who will be responsible for that?
How Jibrael become friend with amal and he has only one friend. and why amal comes to his house every time without any reason.
Why Reyan didn't ask to his mother about Almas, and what will be their reaction when they decided to get married (even without a proper proposal)
There are many other points like this, that was not clearly defined.
All the other information about Cricketers are sensible and this makes the story successful, especially when Reyan goes to comma, then I feel it a little interested.
The end of the story was also confused...

Pretty average. Story was prolonged without any meaningful ending. Some scenes were cute but I don't think there is any lesson in this book. Okay for time pass.

An impactful and amazing story.
I had heard some of it about more than a year ago from my friend. And decided to give it a shot now.
And don’t regret that.
I mean… just fabb.

Almas. Her story. Rayan and his story. His cricket career. Her revenge. The way they both found their way to each other at the end.

I just think that he should have returned that ring to Almas on their meet. But still, luvv itt. I also wanted Rayan to resign from Cricket as his health was deteriorating.

His whole cricket career and the way she described ups and downs of life.
As the saying goes “har urooj ko zawaal hai”

I know Almas shouldn’t have done that. But the way she grew up. She never knew about rights and wrongs like that. I know it doesn’t justifies what she did. And that was another one of the lessons that we girls should never trust guys like that and should never talk to them or keep relations with them even if it’s over phone by betraying our parents.

And the way she signifies that we should never give someone “baddua” even if we hate that person.
And that we should always ALWAYS keep praying that Allah never makes us dependent on someone. (Allah kabhi kisi ka mohtaaj na kre, Ameen)

Another character that I LOVVEDD was Jibreel’s character.
Aww that kid was cutiiee. His comebacks and everything. Just lovveee himm. I really loved the fact that Rayan adopted him.

Another lesson was that our fam should be our top priority cause we r theirs as well. All the other things are secondary. When we r at our lowest, the only thing we have is fam. Rayan had spent his life staying with his friends and doing everything for them. He never gave that much time to his family. But when he fell ill, the only thing he had was his family.
Especially his mother, whom he had misunderstood throughout his life, thinking that she doesn’t love him like his other siblings.

7 months he was in coma. And then when he came back, it took him 3 and a half yrs to walk on his own. And 1 yr or smthng to talk but he did stutter a bit. But not everytime.

He had that stair falling accident on the day of his marriage (after nikkah) but when he was in coma, his wife never came to visit him. Even she and her family urged for divorce. But then when he came back, they greeted him nicely thinking he doesn’t know all the stuff the girl’s father had said when he was in coma but he had heard and he gave her divorce.

I think the story was smooth. Especially how Almas met Jibreel and they both became friends and slowly she started visiting his house thinking his father is a professor at an Academy cause Jibreel had once told him that he goes to Academy so she can come during that time, as she didn’t want to visit during the time his father would be in the house.
And Rayan thought Jibreel’s friend is a child. He never thought she was Almas.

But then when he came back after Resigning from cricket, he saw Almas in his house. She was there as usual but he was back earlier so she didn’t know and didn’t see him as he hid behind the pillar.

And then he asked Jibreel to call her the next day and they both had that confrontation and he proposed her.

“Too Many Characters, Too Much Confusion = A Disappointing Read”

Nimra Ahmed begins Sans Sakin thi with a disclaimer, admitting that there may be mistakes in the novel. As a critical reader, I did notice quite a few, and they affected my reading experience.

Issues in the Story

1. Unnecessary characters and plots
The novel introduces too many side characters and backstories that go nowhere. For example, the secretary/receptionist in the PCB chairman’s office gets a full background story, but then completely disappears from the novel. Similarly, the overwhelming number of cousins, and characters like Aisha, Marianne, Aaniya, Daniel, felt unnecessary and confusing. Their roles were unclear and only added clutter.

2. Inconsistencies in the opening scene
The book begins with a mysterious visit to the PCB chairman’s office, where the visitor is described as very old and fragile, in his 50s or 60s. Later, this seems to connect to Rayan Haider trying to regain his captaincy. But the descriptions don’t match, and the connection feels forced.

3. Unrealistic cricket elements
One of the most frustrating parts was Rayan Haider’s return to cricket. He was in a coma, paralyzed, and out of the game for a year, yet he expects not only to rejoin the national team without playing a single domestic match, but also to reclaim his captaincy. This is completely unrealistic and against the rules of professional cricket.

4. Family chaos and confusion
The novel suffers from too many family mix-ups. Cousins appear and disappear, relationships are unclear, and sudden fights (like between Marianne and Reyan) come out of nowhere with little explanation. Instead of adding depth, this just created confusion and frustration.

5. Unbelievable coincidences
I dislike when stories rely on coincidences, and here it really damaged the book’s credibility for me. The final coincidence, when Rayan Haider’s foster son goes to Lahore and randomly visits the zoo at the same time that Almas also happens to be there, was too contrived. Instead of feeling natural, it felt forced and unrealistic, the story should have unfolded through natural events, not chance encounters.

Final Thoughts
Overall, the novel felt overstuffed with unnecessary characters, confusing relationships, and unrealistic scenarios. While I managed to finish the book, it was a tiring read, and the lack of coherence made it hard to enjoy. For that reason, I would rate it 2 out of 5 stars, and honestly, if I hadn’t finished it, it might have been a 1-star read.

Ummm....In starting I thought this is not a Nemrah's work, It was confusing and too annoying in starting, like novel is written without any purpose. I am not a cricket lover that's why I found lots of scenes dragged, unnecessary detail were also there. In mid of the story, it was a bit interesting.

This is one of her initial work so yeah thats appreciable, and Reyan's comma scene was also explained very well. However its a nice work of her initial times.

"Revenge can never bring true peace."

That's the powerful message the writer wants to deliver with this beautiful piece of writing. I gotta say, I really adore Nemrah Ahmed and her writings. The only thing I didn't quite like was the slow pacing in the first half of the novel. But overall, I loved the story and the message it conveyed. And I'm glad the ending wasn't tragic!

Enjoy the book! 📚
