Havenverse #2

Knot For Keeps

Rate this book
Clearmont Haven gave us everything: protection, peace, opportunity, and safety within the walls we called home.

It only took four alphas, an impossible crime, and a single night to shatter everything. Drugged and stolen away, I'd overheard something vital, but I can't remember what the hell it was.

The problem was, I needed that information if I was ever going to escape this pack. Archer, the sweet-natured computer tech I'd already been talking to for months. Gage, the exhausted pack leader carrying the world's weight on his shoulders. Finn, the small-town veterinarian who might be damaged beyond repair. Kane, the pack's stoic guardian despite his reluctant, complicated place within it.

Behind me, the safety of the home I'd always known. Ahead of me, the dangerous but exhilarating unknown with four men I was strangely drawn to. No matter which way I chose, one thing was certain: everything was about to change.

Hard to rate, more like 3 1/2….

Okay, so. I actually really really enjoyed this story. I liked the characters, I liked the plot and the omegaverse details. This really was an enjoyable read. But….

There were a lot of grammatical errors, names spelled wrong, consistency issues and the like. I felt like I was repeatedly pulled out of the story with all the minor errors. I also don’t really feel like the blurb for this book fits the story.

I finished this book feeling like there were a loooot of loose ends. Things that were brought into the story but never revisited, things that referred to past events that we didn’t see as readers, things like that.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. As a new to me author, I did like her writing style and her characters. I just think this could have used a bit more editing and revising to hit that 5 star for me. Definitely would recommend this book to others tho!

Enjoyed it overall, but some of the pacing was a little weird and some of the heavier themes like the are treated with such little angst. And then the very end of the book's pacing was kinda awkward to me, it was supposed to be this satisfying "look everyone's together and happy and in domesticated bliss," but the fact that it made the happy ending weirdly hard to believe, especially since it meant that the entire conflict of the book was still unresolved lol.

This book has so many errors it was almost impossible to read!
I understand we live in an instant gratification state currently where people want books immediately but it would have taken 5 minutes to run this through a spelling and grammar check!!! Editors while expensive are invaluable in making books readable!
Also in the UK lavvy is another word for toilet so the fmc being nicknamed lavvy and lavvy girl make me think of toilets it was very cringe

Lowkey ngl. This was the best of the 3😭😭 I’d want even that, like exceptional, like it still had all of flaws but at the same time. It was so much better i had to high rate it.

This wasn’t overly exciting.

I enjoyed all four of the guys. Obviously Theo was the best and deserved all the cats! I think Arch wasn’t seen enough and that I found to be problematic especially since right off the bat he was amazing. Gage didn’t seem like much of a pack alpha but I still liked his personality. Kane’s story from start to end was well written and he was definitely a favorite.

Lavender… meh. I liked her from the first book and in the beginning she seemed cool. But once she was taken I really just didn’t like her. Her entire personality was just true crime fanatic. That’s not really much to go on. Literally all she does is watch that while at the haven and while she’s with them. She seemed like such an interesting girl but in the end was quite boring. We kind of see her astrology interest but not really. We know she has two degrees but wtf were they? We don’t see any of this and it’s disappointing.

I didn’t like Lavy’s behavior during the beginning of the kidnapping. I don’t think it was handled well the fact that in reality Arch was leading her in for months. He in fact lied to her and made her look incredibly gullible. There was never a real conversation about that and an apology. Lavender just went with the flow of it all and didn’t put up much of a fight besides the lamp incident. I wanted to see a bit of backbone, she seemed to be a spitfire that I wanted her to make them work for it. Instead we just got the boring answer of omega instincts telling her they were safe. That’s just not good enough to me. She never even tells them that she never heard anything to begin with.

My overall issue with the book was the entire story though. From start to finish there was just not enough information. The timeline was confusing. She was taken and then what was supposed to be a few days was being forced into a few weeks. She has her heat and then all of a sudden it’s been 2 months?! Eh?! More than once it’s stated that it’s been 2 months. But when she gets her second heat she says it’s only been 2 weeks since her last one. Which happened 2-3 weeks after they first took her. So that means at most it’s been 5 weeks, not 2 months. And how long did it take them to put a 10ft fence around what sounded like dozens of acres of property?! Did they hire it out or do it themselves?! Eh???!!

And why had it stretched to being so long? I don’t understand what they were doing that needed her to be kept? The deal went south then they got ambushed and then that was it. That was all we saw of their attempts to buy an omega to find Juniper. The whole basis of this was that and it’s nothing.

Then there’s the fact they are really bad at being criminal masterminds, terrible at security, terrible at being omega detectives that they never bothered to look into the guy who was obsessed with her and trying to get them all arrested. What even was this whole plot?! It was awful ffs. How did they not ever come anywhere close to looking into Alec? What evidence did they have that she was even trafficked? What the actual F did they do for 5 years to find her?!!! There’s no background at all about any of this. It makes it hard to get into a story when the main thing that caused it all isn’t really covered.

Then Alex comes by and catches the scent and they just sit there like yeah she’s totally safe. Wasn’t her kidnapping made public? Alec knew there was a missing omega. Obviously one could deduce a girl named lavender might smell like that. So no bros she wasn’t safe ffs. They are not good at being criminals or protectors quite frankly. Tf.

AND THEN!!!! They don’t bother to check out his house?! They don’t bother to think that maybe MAYBE he had something to do with Junioer?! After all that?! WHY ARE THEY SO DUMB?! And once they do figure it out who is helping them to find her when Kane gets that call?! Why didn’t Lavender tell anyone that there was another omega with her to be sure she was found and not wondering in the damn woods hurt?!

They’re all idiots. It made it really not enjoyable that the only plot was sex. Everything else was not covered well enough to consider it plot.

And the number of times that the pov changed within a chapter making things confusing is insane. There was only a couple in that first one but this book had several more. Needs to be cleaned up in editing.

Solid story

This was a good little book. I have enjoyed the series. Lavender was a spitfire. I really liked her back bone. I enjoyed the alphas because they were not perfect. They each had something that made them human. I liked the way their personalities meshed with Lavender.

I was not sure what I was going into reading this book, it was recommended and I went with it. It was really good and I only later realized I have read this author before.

Slow burn to start, it spices up about halfway through. There is not as lout of spice, probably 3 peppers. But it is well written. The world building is a bit lacking, but that may be more due to my not reading the first book in the series yet, but it makes this a bit confusing as a stand-alone.

The characters are all well written and developed, the storyline was great, nice bit of mystery. It did seem to need some help editing for clarity, because some sentences seem like they would have made more sense in a different order. Mostly it was a solid 4 out of 5, and I would totally recommend it if you like a sweet/slow burn love story with little twist.

Lavender is content with her life at the Haven. She loves her nest, her best friend, Fawn, and revels in the comfort and safety. She hopes to find a Pack one day, but she knows she's a little quirky for most Alphas. The highlight of each week is talking to a geeky Alpha, Archer. But her innocent conversations led to her being drugged and kidnapped by his Pack. They mean her no harm. They plan to return her as soon as they can. It's complicated.

I struggled with this book. I loved Lavender. I did not love the Pack. Lavender's quirks amused me. Her love of true crime and serial killers was oddly endearing. She was just the right amount of messy. However, I never connected with the guys and wasn't impressed by their relationship. I hated that they quit their lives to find Juniper. Yes, search for her, but continue living. I hated the Stockholm Syndrome sex story. It would have been so simple to include wooing into her time with the guys, so that the relationship felt healthier. But my real issue was with the guys. The damage to Theo bothered me. Brain damage that comes and goes? Did he lose intelligence or only impulse control? It wasn't clear because we never saw anything but golden retriever energy and goofiness. Archer remained too removed once they kidnapped Lavender. Their friendship was wonderful in the beginning, but never resurfaced. Gage was not developed enough. Only Kane's character impressed me, and he was the most conflicted, so he was the least in until the end. The connections weren't enough for me. The later drama was excellent, especially with the revelation. However, the aftermath was nonsensical after the last 5 years. I know it was meant to lead into the next book, but there had to be a more intelligent path.

Summary

Lavender lives at Haven which houses single omegas. Lavender has been speaking to the handsome Archer for a while now. During a call, she may or may not have overheard the pack discussing some unsavoury plans. Since they don't know if she actually heard them, the only option is to kidnap her from Haven so she can't tell anyone... right?
Lavender is swept up in their plans but not all is as it seems. They are good alphas who got themselves into a bad situation trying to save someone they care about.

I enjoyed this. I like omegaverse and I don't even mind some MM along as it doesn't take away from relationship building with the FMC.

What I liked

- Lavender was a great FMC. She was happy with who she was and had fire.
- The Alphas. Theo was probably my favourite. He had golden retriever energy.
- The spice was great!

What I didn't like

- There is a seggsual relationship hinted at between Theo and Gage. Rather than little comments here and there, I wanted it confirmed. Do they have feelings for eachother or is it simply just for stress relief since they don't have much contact with anyone outside their pack?

Like I said it's hinted at and nothing actually happens with them during the book.

It's only a little thing but it irked me.

- Plot was fine. I didn't have any shocker moments but still enjoyable.

There is mention of human trafficking, mental health issues, sexual assault. Slight o/w drama as one of the alphas is adamant his kidnapped sister (an omega) should have belonged to the other 3 Alphas and feels like they are all cheating on her with the FMC.

Overall it was a nice read.

I really enjoyed this, the second book in the series. For the most part, I have enjoyed this author. There are most definitely some issues here, but I have liked the stories she tells.

The biggest problem with this book... the editing (or lack thereof). This book was sooooo rough. There were so many basic punctuation mistakes all throughout this thing. That's not counting the overabundance of runon sentences. It doesn't hurt to put a period down and start a new sentence, rather than just throwing a comma between them all. I think this has to be the worst book, grammatically, that I have ever come across, and that's a shame.

Because I really did like this book! I enjoyed the story and the characters, I just wish we could have gotten some more of their background.
Yes, pacing had some issues, as well, but if you fix all the grammatical issues, I can safely overlook pacing, as long as I don't get bored.

I will continue this series and read that final book (Have to find out what happened to Juniper!).

DNF.

One, not a fan of the kidnapping love interests/falling for your kidnappers trope. Over 100 pages in and there is no way this book will make that work out satisfactory imo.

Two, WTF is this already having an omega thing?!?!? The dude has an omega sister so therefore she must end up in a pack with his three totally not pack mates because she told him she liked one of them? But every time he says they have an omega the male pov says they do not but he wants them to. So in a world where they didn't kidnap the omega the will obviously end up they just going to go with the flow and shack up with her? What unnecessary other woman drama bs is this? I don't want to root for any of these mmcs which is a shame because the fmc was fun. I want her to escape and find men worthy of her.

Also I can generally ignore the errors and inconsistencies in a book but when they add up to make plot issues it is too much. Especially if I can't even tolerate most of the characters in the story. Dnf. Not for me and i will not be trying the next book.

I’m on chapter seven. I want to like these books. The plot sounds good. I was looking for sweet verse with omega havens, and lots of comfort. I like the world building details. The author is not a bad writer. Great ideas.
That being said, this needs a beta reader sooo bad! Majorly needs a good edit.

One minute we’re returning to the living room fmc just ran past, and then right after that she’s describing the smell of an alpha sitting next to the bed. There’s a bed in the living room? Nooo. It’s the bed from the room before the escape attempt. I think this is called a continuity error?

I noticed the author mixing up the male main characters in the first book. I’m beginning to suspect I’ll be catching it again in this novel. There seem to be some characterization mistakes in both.
I just feel like this could easily be better.

cute and definitely funny at times

Lavender doesn’t think she will find a pack who will want her quirky self. She has been talking to an alpha for a few months now but there is no indicator that he is interested in anything more. She hasn’t met the rest of his pack and he hasn’t talked about their relationship moving forward. But he is a comfort and sends her yummy snacks. But when his pack thinks she overheard something she finds herself kidnapped and held until their mission is completed.

This was a fun read. I enjoyed how each alpha fell for her and how she was everything they needed. I also laughed hard when it was revealed that Archie kept sending her gummy bears because that is what he smelled like.

I really enjoyed the first book and was excited to read the second. But the more I read it, the more confusing it got. The whole point of this story alone was that Lavender was on a video call with Asher and Gage thought she heard something she shouldn’t have.

The guys were trying to find Juniper, which is great! She shouldn’t be dealing with all of that shit that dickhead put her through but at the end, Juniper escaped. When Lavender found out that she hadn’t been found, she demanded that they search for her. And it was barely brought up! Then all of a suddenly they are happily living in their house; Juniper still missing at this point; then suddenly they get a call that she was found and packed up already? Seemed like a rushed ending.

Loved Lavenders story. She's a fiesty omega. Love her.

Lavender an Omega an the omega facility was kidnapped from the place she calls home all because some bunch if Alpha thinks she heard something she shouldn't of. Her kidnappers is someone she knows and talked to for months and wished one day she could meet him. Well not she can. Just not in the way she hoped.

As weeks go on she starts to trust these Alphas. They have told her what has been happening and why they kidnapped her. But, can Lavender see past the kidnapping and fall in love with these Alphas?

Absolutely lovely story. Loved it all.

much better than the first

The first book in this series was not my favorite and it made me very hesitant to read the second. However I finally gave it a chance and oh my goodness how happy I was! Lavender was a fantastic FMC and I loved her quirky personality. She was a no nonsense and spitfire type of omega. Her (eventual) pack was a mix of everything you would want. I wish we would’ve gotten a little more Lavender/Archer banter near the end of the book but it didn’t detract. Now I’m excited about the 3rd book!
Btw if you like OV this author is def one to dive into. She writes a wide range of OV and everything from her I have enjoyed.

Issues, issues, issues....

First, the author couldn't decide on using the word CUM vs.COME.
Seriously, all through the book she first misused the words, then properly, then not...over and over.
Pick one, and commit!
Though, I am confused, as this is the SECOND book in the series, and the first book, she used the words almost with 100% accuracy.. So, why were they so fucked in the second???

Next, the way the author frequently mixed up whose POV we were supposed to be following...

And then, omg, the grammar! Just bury me now...

I suppose I will read.the last book, since I have come thus far...but, the author and editors failed with this book.

Knot For Keeps Omegaverse

This is the 2nd book in a standalone series and so far the series has been really good. First off I absolutely love Lavender and her energy! I love that she stands up for herself and won't take their crap. Theo is just a golden retriever alpha, Archer seems to have a huge heart, Gage is just 'Daddy' Gage and Kane- idk where to ever start with him. I have a love/hate for him. Kane really got on my nerves with pushing his omega sister on them. Took 80% of the book for him to accept Lavender. It's a really good book and definitely should be read. Check TW as always with any book. Now off to the 3rd book. Happy Reading 💜

I was excited to go through the second book after reading the first, but was disappointed sorely that they both end the exact same way.

I'm a massive fan of omegaverse and reverse harems, and cannot get enough of them, and on the whole I did enjoy the books. Lavender is a sweetheart, and I find her a genuinely likeable character as well as the four alphas in the pack. But as with the first book, the whole last third of the book is basically dedicated to setting up the cliff hanger to lead onto the next one. The pack barely get a happy ever after before there's a one-line drop that's meant to shock and lead onto the next.
Still enjoyed the books, but it would have been nice to see the focus of the book get their ending, and enjoy life a little before dropping us straight in the drama. Makes it feel a little unfulfilling.

DNF. This novel held so much promise for a captivating read. Even though I found the characters likable, I wasn't quite taken with the plot, especially with one character's self-destructive behavior that I found hard to stomach. Given these factors, I doubt I'd pick up this novel for a second read. Watch my full book review here: https://youtu.be/Pg4vsmQrMA0

Overall, I enjoyed all the characters and the general plot, but I’m not going to lie…I did almost DNF the book halfway. The grammar errors were plentiful and distracted me throughout the book. Additionally, the timing was really confusing. I thought she’d been with the pack for a week or two, and then suddenly it was two months? Finally, the pacing was sort of odd at the end and went weirdly fast? I guess my enjoyment of the characters got me through, but there was definitely some skimming towards the middle of the book 😅

Good Read

This was another brilliant book with a great cast of characters and a story that drew me in from the beginning. I loved that Lavender was so quirky and not quite your average omega. I especially liked that she had an obsession with true crime, it’s not something you’d automatically associate with an omega which made me like her character more. The premise of the story was good and I was actually shocked by the ending of the book. I didn’t see it coming at all. Overall, this was a fabulous book and I’d recommend giving it a read.

Great story that just needs polish!

I thoroughly enjoyed the kidnapping premise and the true crime obsessed omega FMC. I only subtracted a star because, just like the first book, this book was in want of a decent editing. The errors were the glitches in the matrix that kept taking me out of the story. I am still looking forward to the next book and I hope that the author can up her editing game.

I liked this one much better than the first one.

We still had a lot of the same issues, though. Switching tenses and POVs mid paragraph. There was an instance where I'm pretty sure 2 paragraphs were switched around.

Also, Theo and Gage? Where they a thing, or was Theo just kidding? I wish that had been clearer.

I would like to read poor Juniper's story. As soon as she disappeared in the end, I figured she had found her pack when she escaped lol

Excellent continuation of this series!

This was so great. I love the hippy, relaxed, style the FMC rocked as well as her love of true crime. Such a unique personality.

I think it’s hilarious how she met her pack. Everyone’s just trying to do the right thing and she just gets a little mixed up in it. But I’m glad because they definitely belong together.

So much excitement and a bit thrilling near the end. Definitely kept me on my toes!

Loving this series so much! I hope there will be more books to come!

Sorry, but I couldn't get past the absolute dysfunction of one of the Alpha's just assuming the rest of the guys were going to pack with his little sister when they finally reunited, even though no one expressed interest in that. And the guys just went along with it for YEARS?

This book also really needed an editor.

this just wasn’t really for me. i wanted to lvoe it because i really enjoyed the first book, but i didn’t feel a strong connection with the main girl or any of the lvoe interests, and i felt like the kidnapping trope just wasn’t super well executed. i guess some people could like it but it just wasn’t for me

Action, true crime lovers, and in stubborn omega

Lavender is amazing. I thought she maybe timid at first but she had no problem going toe to toe with alphas. While she does unconventionally meet her pack, I loved watching them together. There was a good balance of action and smut. I really liked the story and I definitely need Juniper’s story.

meh

the story line was good in the beginning but it got messy in the second half. they could’ve found both girls in the end. Don’t know if i like the kidnapping stockholm syndrome love story. The spice was good. Their goodish alphas but the way that this was played… meh 🫤
