I really like this second addition of the book. It gives a lot of ideas about how to start Guided Math and Math Workshop into your classroom, especially with the First 20 Days guide. The other thing that it encourages you to do is to make sure that higher level thinking and deep math understanding is happening in both the teacher led station and the student work stations. I feel like it's a good beginner's guide, and even though I have been doing Guided Math rotations for several years, I want to retool and fix my schedule for the next coming up year to accommodate.

This book was helpful overall. It has more specifics than the Sammons book (which was a lot of theory). For someone new to small group instruction, this book contains ideas on structuring your math block and planning for working with small groups of students. For those who have been doing guided reading and writing, this probably won't give you any ahas, but it may help you make decisions about how to structure your math time. It seemed focused more towards primary grade teachers.

This is a great resource for any teacher looking to implement guided math for the first time and/or any teacher who has already been doing so. This is a great resource that expounds on the what, why, & how of guided math. The only thing that could make this book even greater would be a CD-ROM with all the blackline masters as editable Word documents or PDFs. Even better yet, Google Docs.

Similar to the daily five readers workshop approach but only dealing with math. Very clear and concise explanations as to how to go about implementing this strategy into the everyday classroom. I would recommend as a start and guide for anyone looking for a guided math workshop model program .

Loved this! I actually liked this better than the book by Laney Sammons. Easy to read, easy to follow, great ideas, descent amount of masters and anchor chart ideas. I've heard she's amazing to see in person, too.
