Rate this book
Daisy's back, and getting into more trouble than ever -- this time as a detective!

No matter the occasion, Daisy just can't help getting into trouble!

When three actual burglaries happen in Daisy's town, Daisy is beside herself with excitement. Two houses and the fish and chip shop have been broken into (and lots of cods and haddocks have been stolen). Anyone could be next!

Daisy wants to help. Together with Gabby and Dylan, she forms her own detective agency. Armed with a notebook, a magnifying glass, a camera and a box of icing sugar, she sets out on the burglars' trail.

Trouble is, detective work is hard when you're not allowed to go further than the end of the road.

Ok, so I'm 15. Yeah, I'm too old for this book. Erm.

Loved it! So I have not read all the other Daisy books; I still have yet to read Christmas and Coconuts. This was DEFINITELY not my favorite of the series. Life, Zoo and Kittens are all better by far and I can't remember a lot of the others.

This particular book tells the story of when 3 burglaries happen in Daisy's town. She needs to start a detective agency and QUICK but how can she do that when Mum keeps giving her jobs; brush your teeth, comb your hair, get dressed etc. Once she's started her detective agency the search for clues begins.

Another beautiful story from Kes Gray and the ending is brill. Will be sure to read this to my younger sister.

I loved it when Daisy was jumping on her mum's lap and spilt tea everywhere. And when she was calling 999 straight away. Her mum went crazy. Since the fish and chips shop has been robbed, Daisy and gabby are on a secret mission to solve this problem. 🙊

Daisy has a very overactive imagination, which seems to get her in trouble throughout this novel. Also, she's incredibly dramatic, even over dramatic at times.

The repetitiveness of 'the trouble with..' within the novel is an easy way to help children keep focus in various areas of the novel, but I have to say, it irritated me. What I did enjoy was the fact that Daisy is really smart, and does seem to think of new ways to catch the burglars (even if her ideas are very strange and way out there).

Though it's marketed for 9-12, it would defiantly suit for younger as well. Though I shudder to think of a child would start to emulate Daisy. Imaginative playing is great, but I can completely understand her mother's frustration with her.

This is defo one of my favourite Daisy books. The storytelling in this book was incredible, and it was very lighthearted and fun. Daisy becomes a detective after finding out a fish and chip shop got robbed by her grandpa and causes all kinds of mischief for her mother because she's scared of being burgled. I felt really bad for Daisy's mum at the end of the book. It was a twist I didn't expect.

Love the book and I think Daisy could make a good detective when she's old enough.

I've never read any of the Daisy books before and so wasn't quite sure what to expect. This was funny and a little annoying in its format for me, although I am very much not the target audience for these books (I'm about 20 years too old really). Anyway, when two houses and the fish and chip shop in Daisy's town suffer break ins, Daisy, along with her friends Gabby and Dylan, decide to set up their own detective agency and catch the burglars themselves.
I genuinely loved some parts of this story, such as Daisy's input into the meeting between the residents of Daisy's town and the police and her trying to find fingerprints on the outside of the fish and chip shop using only some icing sugar that she bought. I did snort out loud at how funny and matter of fact she could be. I did find the constant 'the trouble with' references a little repetitive though, although I can understand that they're an essential part of the story and the series.
Despite that though, this was an enjoyable read and a nice introduction to the Daisy books. 3 stars.

This book is part of a series of books about a young girl called Daisy who has an over active imagination. She is always on the lookout for new adventures. The story centres on a burglary at the local fish and chip shop. Daisy and her friends decide to investigate the crime by setting up their own detective agency. Grays use of the familiar is pivotal in making this book suitable for KS1 children as she uses many common situations that children have experienced such as parental control such as Daisy’s mother telling her she is not allowed to investigate the crime beyond her street, although the fish and chip shop is located on the next street. Gray uses humour that young children can relate to and involves the reader into the plot and one wants to know if Daisy will solve the crime by the end of the book. This book would be useful for independent reading, it would help to children to become more imaginative and explore their thoughts and ideas in order to find out where it could lead them.

It was a good book, but it did scare me a little, because I thought the burglars might come to our house and try to steal something.
