Hey, everyone. Several readers have asked, so I thought I'd mention that this will be the final book in the Sultry Springs series. (I may revisit this decision in the future...we'll see.) I hope you enjoy Colt's story--it's my favorite of the three. I also hope you'll check out my new series coming from Penguin, which kicks off in early 2014 with PREMARITAL HEX. Thanks for reading! You guys are the best. :)

Edit #1: Yes, that's a new cover up there! Sourcebooks decided to go with a different look, and I think it's an improvement. Hope you like it, too!

Surrender to Sultry
2 Stars

Once a wild and wicked bad boy, Sultry's newest sheriff, Colton Bea, had learned his lesson the hard way and cleaned up his act. Amongst his many regrets is the loss of Leah McMahon, the only woman he ever loved. But now Leah is back home with secrets of her own. Can Colt win her heart again?

A disappointing end to an otherwise charming series.

The book contains a problematic trope that can go terribly wrong if handled incorrectly. Sadly, this is exactly what happens as Leah's secret overshadows the entire story not only due to its nature, but also because the reader is constantly waiting for the inevitable angst of the big reveal.

Moreover, Leah's actions, i.e., are unforgivable regardless of her motivations. Consequently, it is impossible to identify with or sympathize with her character.

Colt hero status is also questionable. His womanizing ways in the previous installments do not endear him to the reader, and his apparent redemption cannot fully compensate for his earlier behavior.

In sum, the first two books in this series are excellent, especially book #1. Unfortunately, this one is frustrating and overly angsty.

First I must mention that the book was good, but there was something that made me really really mad. Leah had done something unforgivable. Of course there is a HEA, but I would not have forgiven her. Some things are not to be forgiven. Even if she thought it was for the better good. When I have that off my chest I can get on with the review.

Colt was around in the two previous books, but he is changed now. And in comes the lost love of his life. Yup he hurt her cos he was young and an ass. But he still loved her, he should have gotten a punch in the face and shaped up. Leah is mad at him still, and he wants her back. So the whole book is a dance between these two. He tries to win her affection and she starts to fall for him again.

I love small town romances. I love meeting old friends and watching these fight their way back together again. What I did not like was the THING. I hated that. It made me so mad.

It was a cute book filled with passion and drama.

Oh and if you wanna know why I am mad?

Review of 2018 :

Before he became a cop, Colton Bea was a delinquent hell-raiser who broke the heart of the preacher's daughter after she gave him her virginity. But Colt is not the only one who wasn't honest back then. Nobody knows the real reason for Leah McMahon's mysterious departure, or so it seems. After ten years, she's back in Sultry Springs to be a temporary home health aide for her father who had open-heart surgery.

For Colton, Leah is the one that got away. He knows it's his fault and that he's got to win her trust again to get her back. He wants her forgiveness and the chance to show her he's not the same man he was. Leah would prefer to keep her distance, but he's persistent and much too charming and repentant for her to be able to resist.

Reread can be risky. Sometimes you get the same giddy feeling you had the first time and sometimes, even if you still enjoyed it, you can't quite understand why you were so excited and captivated by a book and their characters. Don't get me wrong, it was still an amazing romance with a great writing style, but I didn't fall as hard for the hero than I did five years ago and I'm still searching for the reason why I wrote such praises about him. I'll say this though: I liked the fact that even if he was trying to show he's a serious man now, Colt still had a playful side and he did what it takes to make amends.

Review of 2013 :
Such an exciting and sweet book. I didn't think I would love Colt that much but he won his place in my list of hotties :) This book made me cry and it's definitively my favorite of this series. Macy Beckett is obviously very talented at telling a story but I think her greater ability is creating such loveable characters. You've got to try her Sultry Springs' series but I'm warning you, it's addictive :)

Loved, loved, loved this book!!!! I literally carried this book around and sneaked in reading it through work & play. I had to get to see if Leah and Colt would get their happily ever after. Leah McMahon comes back to town to take care of her dad. Local bad boy turned sheriff Colton Bea pulls her over. He realizes this is his ""one that got away"". My heart went out to him as he tried to execute a traffic stop while checking her out.

Leah hasn't had an easy time of it since she had her heart broken by Colton and left town. She has fears, insecurities, and secrets she wants to keep hidden. Who would want to be the same fool twice? But Colton is determined to swallow his pride and risk everything to right his wrong. I thought this was going to be a run of the mill star crossed lovers reunited story, and I started out thinking that I really wasn't going to like Colton. However, I found myself tearing up, laughing, and yes...outright crying---the ugly cry --- at times. Colton was so sincere and their chemistry was off the charts. I ended up putting Colton on the short list for book boyfriend/husband. The story pulled me in right from the start and my emotions rode all the peaks and valleys.

The entire cast of characters added to the depth of Lea & Colton's story. I didn't realize this book was the last of a series, but that impressed even more because I had absolutely no problem following the story. However, I have to have the others now because I enjoyed it so much. I can't say enough how much I enjoyed it, and I look forward to reading the previous titles in the series.

Macy Beckett, what do you think you're doing creating the most perfect 'small town romance' series and stopping it at a mere 3 books - how could you do that to us adoring fans who soak up every single word and sigh longingly at every sentence your handsome heroes utter?!

In case you couldn't tell, I loved this book (and the two others in the series) a LOT. The writing, the characters, the setting - everything was perfection.

I strongly recommend this series to fans of contemporary romance and to those who have never been convinced by the genre before but are willing to give it a try - this book is for you!

Macy Beckett has done it again. I absolutely LOVED Colt's story and I think it was the hottest one yet. Trey won me over but now? He has serious competition with Colt.

If you liked Sultry with a Twist and A Shot of Sultry you're going to enjoy Surrender to Sultry just as much. It has the humor, heart, sweetness, and love that you've come to love.

My least favorite part of this book? It marks the end of something I don't want to say goodbye to just yet.

Another home run from Beckett and I can't wait to read what she comes out with next and to add this to my collection.

Well I have good news and bad news. The good news is that this is the best book in the series and I am so glad that Colt redeemed himself with a beautiful HEA. Surrender to Sultry is Macy Beckett’s 3rd book in the Sultry Springs series, where first loves find second chances, and Colt gets his 2nd chance to make things right with Leah. This book was beautifully written, packed with emotion and the power of forgiveness was most evident for both the main characters.
Leah has returned to Sultry Springs after a 10 year absence to take care of her father after heart surgery. She was hoping to avoid contact with Sheriff Colton Bea but she couldn’t have such luck. Colt is dumbfounded to see Leah again and is determined to get her to forgive him and get her back in his life. It is a few years after the end of book 2 and Colt has changed his ways. He gave up alcohol and his womanizing ways and still suffers a bit from his accident. Even though Leah tries to stay clear, Colt still has the charm that she can’t resist.

I have to say once I figured out Leah’s reason for running away all those years ago my heart went out to her. Trust and love from your heart is a hard combination to overcome when you feel it has been betrayed by one that you love. Colt did her wrong but she was wrong too by leaving and keeping things secret. My only wonder was how hard it was going to be for both of them when the truth came out. I think that the way Ms. Beckett sequenced this story was brilliant, with just enough build up to get you to understand both the main character’s points of view. She writes two complex main characters with flaws and depth to them. They show people what they want them to see but there is much more and you can see sometimes what is hidden behind their eyes.
Colt was out to win Leah back and his seduction scenes were absolutely swoon-worthy. He had me swooning! Colt just had a tendency to live a little too much in the past and had put Leah to high on a pedestal. No one is that perfect and is very much human and prone to make mistakes. Even Leah’s pastor father fessed up to his part in her leaving when he should have been a guiding influence instead of shirking his parental duty. There was a lot of blame on all fronts but most of all with Leah because she did something without Colt’s knowledge.

Once the story was finished I was an absolute mess from crying over the heart ache and then the tears turned to ones of joy over a happy ending. This story captivated me from the beginning and I was pretty much was glued to my sofa until late one evening. I even reread it the following morning because I wanted to feel again the joy of the ending and the richness when good things go right for good people. What we saw of Colt throughout the first two books just whetted my curiosity to see him get his own story and Ms. Beckett wrote his story wonderfully. It definitely captured this reader’s heart.

Ms. Beckett also wrote into this story songs and smells that just enhances the story. She included a couple of songs that fit right in to describe a moment for both of the main characters. Sometime the song itself can go a long way in describe a time or place or a mood. For this reader it is always a plus because I can hear the song in my head as I read. When I read the part where Leah hugs her Dad I knew exactly what she felt at that moment. This is real writing for me and I absolutely love it.

Like I said in the beginning that there was some good and bad news and here is the bad news. This is the last book in the series and there are no plans for a 4th book. I would have loved to have seen a story for Leah’s friend Rachel because it was a perfect setup with a side story in Surrender to Sultry. The end of one series definitely won’t be the end of my delight in this author and her writing. I look forward to her new series and will toot her horn to anyone interested in well written, beautiful love stories of second chances with the Sultry series. If you haven’t read it, then run to the store and get it! You are truly missing a delightful story.

Ten years ago 17-year-old Leah McMahon ran away from her tiny Texas town. Suddenly the only life she had ever known - and the boy she thought she loved - was gone and she found herself along and scared in Minnesota. The preacher's perfect daughter was pregnant with the town's bad boy. At the time adoption seemed the best choice, along with feigning ignorance as to the baby's father. Until now the open adoption has worked: Leah and her son maintain contact and have a special bond. Unfortunately, her father's surgery has called Leah back to Sultry Springs and they both know questions will be asked - and certain people can't be avoided in a town as small as theirs.

Going into Surrender to Sultry I hadn't realized it was the third - and last - novel in the Sultry Springs series. Thankfully, however, this is a series where each book focuses on a different couple, so I had no problem jumping in at the end. Leah's arrival back to Sultry Springs raises questions - and eyebrows. As far as the rest of the town is aware, a decade ago Leah and her father had a huge falling out and haven't spoken since. What they don't know is that Leah discovered she was pregnant with Colt's child. Through the wonders of Skype and the Internet, Leah and her father have remained in constant contact and he's even met his grandson.

When Leah left Colt's world fell apart. A stupid prank by a lousy friend caused the girl he loved to run away and he sort of lost it without her. In an attempt to fill the aching void, Colt spends more and more time with alcohol and strippers, quickly becoming someone he doesn't want to be. This small town sheriff still carries a torch for his first love and no one could ever come close to replacing her.

Leah's first night back in town results in being pulled over...by none other than Sheriff Bea. A decade is an awful long time to harbor pain and heartache. Now that Leah and Colt are older (and wiser?) could they find it in themselves to move past high school? Colt is more than ready to make up for lost time. Leah, however, is still reeling from the hurt and embarrassment Colt and his friends put her through - not to mention she's debating whether or not to tell him about their child.

Surrender to Sultry really took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting to like this story as much as I did! Admittedly, it took some getting used to reading my name over and over again - and, um, let's just say certain scenes were WAY awkward. HA! That said, everything else about this book was great. Leah and Colt felt real. They were both flawed and conflicted. What Colt and his friends did was completely inexcusable and I don't blame Leah at all for being so hurt. He wanted to see how far he could go with the preacher's sweet and innocent daughter, already aware she had planned on waiting for marriage before having sex. Colt bragged to Tommy and soon the entire school found out the two had slept together. By the time Leah discovered she was pregnant she was long gone. The pregnancy/adoption aspect was really nicely done, though the final conclusion was a bit too cutesy for me.

The couples from the two previous novels are featured in this book as well, though obviously they're not nearly as prominent as Leah and Colt. I'm eager to read the other books now, I'd love to see the beginning of the other relationships! If Happily Ever Afters are your thing, definitely pick up a copy of Surrender to Sultry!

Another great addition to this series, Ms Beckett writes amazing small town stories that encompass engaging characters and interesting premises. I thoroughly enjoyed.

Sheriff Colton Bea has known his share of troubles, especially when he was younger, however three years ago his problems finally caught up with him, he was run down by a stalker in a car and has suffered severe back pain ever since, so he has toned down his lifestyle.

Colt is shocked to see Leah driving through town; she has not been seen in ten years. He tried several times to find her with no luck. Their relationship ended badly years ago, she moved keeping a huge secret from everyone except her father. Leah came home to help her father through his illness; he has always been there for her so she came out of hiding for him.

When she was seventeen she had a relationship with Colt, after he embarrassed her and she found out she was pregnant, she left. Because she was so young and Colt had recently been arrested again, she made a decision to give her son up for adoption without telling Colt. As Colt and Leah try for a second chance at love, she is afraid to tell him, believing it will turn him against her forever.

I really enjoyed this book as it tells of an emotional struggle between the past and present. Ms. Beckett’s characters are interesting and realistic; they feel like your friends and neighbors. I love the small town romance; the camaraderie, family connections and friends who are so enjoyable to read about.

Leah and Colt have history so the chemistry is built in and they fall back toward what they had before so easily, it just works between them. I like the characters of Sultry Springs and enjoyed seeing several play key roles from previous books, I hope Rachel finds her true love one day and that the boys (men) from high school grow up – lol.

The plot progression is well paced without much “over the top” drama. I did have a small problem with the fact that Colt was never told, but I liked her father’s comments and I could feel her regret and how sorry she was. Life is like that sometimes, you do what you think is best at the time. All in all this is a wonderful romance full of real life problems and solutions - with a happy ending of course.

If you are looking for a story that has everything a great HEA should have, then look no further than Surrender to Sultry by Macy Beckett. This is the third book in the Sultry Springs series, and this book is even better than the last two, which is hard to believe because I thought the last 2 were awesome.. Let's review.

Leah McMahon is a home care nurse who has come back to her home town of Sultry Springs, Texas to care for her dad after he has had heart surgery. 10 years before she ran from her home town, family and friends to get as far away from the only man that she has ever loved, the man she still loved, Colton Bea.

Colton, "Crazy Colton" as the town calls him, was a wild youth, the devil in cowboy boot, and crazy in love with Leah. He never saw himself as good enough for his "beautiful Angel" (Leah), so he did the unspeakable and broke her heart. Now the respectable town sheriff, Colt has spent the last 10 years searching and hoping for another chance with Leah, and now that she is back home, he is going to do everything in his power to make sure she stays this time. But Leah has a secret that she has been keeping from Colton and the rest of the town for the last 10 years, if she tells him, will he be able to forgive her or will she lose his love forever.

I really connected with this couple. Colton tries so hard to show Leah that he has changed, not with words, but with his actions. For example, because they had broken up, and Leah had left town, they never got to attend the Senior Prom. Colton sets up a "prom" for Leah at his home, including decorations, a photo station, dinner, dancing, flowers, and he retrieves her prom dress from the Goodwill where she donated it, had it cleaned, pressed and ready for her. I literally cried, it was just so touching. They were wonderful as individuals, but even better together. I was cheering by the end of this book.

Their friends and family are hysterical. They add some great humor and some great entertainment to the story. This book is touching, sad, exciting, funny, and really romantic, Everything a sigh-worthy HEA is made of. I would recommend this book, this series and this author to all of my friends.

Macy Beckett delivers yet another sweet and sexy romance! This time sweetness comes in the form of Leah McMahon who returns to Sultry Springs, Texas after leaving for ten years. Her father recently had surgery and she is there to help him as he recovers.

Nobody but Colton Bea knows just how sweet Leah is as he remembers their time together nearly a decade ago when they first fell in love. With her return, it brings back a myriad of memories that haunt Colt as he works as the new sheriff in town.

SURRENDER TO SULTRY had all that I want in a small-town Contemporary Romance. A hot cop hero, a sweet heroine and loads of charm and comfort!

Leah and Colt are adorable together. The touch of angst and heartbreak is great and definitely adds definition to this book that makes it stand out from the others of the series. Beckett infuses the book with a shot of playfulness with the several side characters and it only adds to the overall small-town feel.

I’m actually really sad that this series has come to an end. I thought the town of Sultry Springs was unique and cute, the perfect place to set a small-town Contemporary series. Beckett has a way with words and her stories are always able to make me smile and swoon. I’m looking forward to what she has planned next!

Loved...This entire series was incrediable. When Leah McMahon returned home after 10 years to take care of her dad after some health issues the last person she expected to run into was Colton Bea. The first thing that happens when she returns to her home town of Sultry Springs is just that. She has a big secret she has kept from everyone except her Daddy.
Colton Bea is stunned to see that Leah McMahon is home...was he dreaming? When he looks at her license he just can't believe it. He takes off leaving her sitting on the side on the road...trying to apologize to her after all these years is not going to be easy...He tries, and he will go to extreme lengths to do just that..until he finds out what she did.
The story between these two is earth shattering and a must read...will these two get a second chance..They have missed so much and he's doing this for her and its touching and so sweet. You just want to cry...How can someone be that sweet to do that? If you miss something that happened a long time ago..well CJ as Leah so long ago called him takes it upon himself to re-create.

What do you do? Listen to your heart? Or let something you love just go away? In this story you will learn what is meant to be. Macy Beckett is one wonderful author. The first two books in this series...Twist of Sultry, and Shot of Sultry, but a must read...

Here's the deal, the heroine in this book has a huge secret that overshadows the entire story, including the "romance". The secret is revealed pretty quickly, within the first five or six chapters. The problem is that it involves the hero and he doesn't find out the secret until later on so the entire time you are just focused on when she is going to share her secret with him.

It was a decent story that could have been a lot better. I just don't buy the fact that after dating for only a month when they were 17 that the hero has been pining for the heroine for 10 years. And then when they are finally reunited they are saying I love you after only a few weeks together. It just did not ring true to me.

potential spoiler alert:

I also don't like romance novels that heaps on angst and hardship on a character. It is bad enough that the heroine has this huge secret but the fact that she could also not have children made the story almost unredeemable to me. After all, this is a romance where everyone gets married and has kids at the end.

I enjoyed the majority of this story, but I had to knock down a star for the unforgivable act the heroine did. And I'm so angry that the hero forgave her so quickly. I'm normally all for a HEA but I really wanted the heroine to get what she deserved. I suppose that's cruel given her condition but I feel like the author only inserted that tidbit so that the reader would feel sorry for her.

I had very mixed feelings about this book. I'd been looking forward to the Colt/Leah story and resolution, given the build-up in the other two books. And the fact that I gave it a four overall reflects how much it kept pulling me back, even with the issues I had with it. I was happy to see the two previous pairings and I liked the new characters. (Is Rachel the next book, perhaps? Maybe even Rachel and Marcus? We'll see...) Also, given the way Colt has been developed over the previous books, I found his connection to Leah entirely heartfelt and believable. The prom scene was wonderful. I also found this to be one of my favorite endings that I've ever read. But I'll come back to that in a minute.

First, some of the issues. In some ways this was the fluffiest of the books in the series -- there didn't seem to be as much of a build up for the relationship, almost as though the author decided that the other two books gave enough of that so we could just launch into the Colt/Leah thing. Leah resisted, yes, and for good reason as it turns out, so I didn't have too many problems with that, although there did seem to be a bit of an incongruity between the religiousness of the character and how quickly she, well, let her walls down, let's just say. For Colt, though, being the sheriff and all, I would have expected at least a little bit more digging into why she'd left town rather than just immediately setting his sights on getting her back. I mean, he spent ten years trying to find her, now that she's suddenly back, no questions asked?

At the same time, the underlying tension in this book... ... Needless to say, I was sobbing at the end. Happily so. Enough that it made for all of the issues I had in between.

I hope that there is more to come in Sultry. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more of Macy Beckett's books.

The final chapter in the Sultry Springs series is a tough one. Macy Beckett wraps up her delightful series about a charming Texas town with an emotionally heavy installment featuring Sultry's resident bad boy, Colt Bea.

Ten years is a long time to try and get over a girl, but as much as Colt drinks and sleeps his way around town, he can't forget the girl that slipped away. As sheriff of Sultry Springs, he's trying to tame his sinful ways and forget the past, but the only girl he has ever loved arrives back in Sultry Springs to tempt him once again. Leah McMahon is just here to take care of her father after his surgery and then she plans to walk out of Sultry for the second time in ten years. Yet everywhere she turns, she can't seem to escape Colt. The man is trying desperately to worm his way back into Leah's heart, but she can't and won't let that happen again. As Leah realizes Colt has dropped his bad boy ways, she begins to fall again, not for the boy he was, but for the man he's become. But Leah has a serious and devastating secret. If Colt ever finds out, she may as well kiss their happily ever after goodbye.

I have to say this novel was a pretty big disappointment for me, and I could not seem to shake it. Don't get me wrong. I loved, loved, loved the first two installments of the series, but this one just left me frustrated. Without giving anyway any major plot points, Leah has a HUGE secret. So big it eclipses most of the story. I felt this secret was the ultimate betrayal and one I just couldn't forgive. The hero and heroine most definitely share a rocky past, but I felt all the past sins of the relationship paled in comparison to hers. Colt eventually forgives her and of course it's not a big surprise they figure out a way to have their happily ever after, but I was left feeling frustrated by the whole situation. The problem and the resolution left me feeling very unhappy because if I was treating this as a probable type of reality, this situation would never work for me.

After I consider my biggest complaint, it's not fair for me to say I completely disliked this story. I did love and enjoy a good part of it. Colt has been my favorite character from the very beginning and he had a great chance to shine in this novel. He was first introduced as a troubled womanizer, but this book begins with Colt's first steps to redemption. I enjoyed reading his various attempts to sweep Leah off her feet. His words and actions were all made in an effort to keep her in Sultry permanently, which meant he pulled out all the stops for the romance. He had a chance to show a more sentimental and sensitive side, especially when he was interacting with his adorable little niece.

All the classic and loveable details readers have come to love from Ms Beckett are there, so it's highly unlikely fellow readers will share my objections. Fans of the Sultry gang will rejoice when they revisit these quirky and humorous characters. Yet even if you haven't read the first two books, you can still start with SURRENDER TO SULTRY. This contemporary romance doesn't depend on the details of the first book to let you enjoy the final installment of the series. Macy Beckett does a great job of keeping the focus on the main couple, yet still keeping the details familiar, as if you have known Sultry Springs your whole life. Still, I wouldn't discourage you from checking out the first two, mostly because I think both of those books were near perfection. I truly wish I could say the same for SURRENDER TO SULTRY, but it just didn't hit the mark for me. Personal objections aside, it's still an enjoyable story, but not the five star excellence I've come to expect.

I loved this third visit to Sultry Springs! Macy brings the characters to life, they jump off the page and entrance you!

Leah is back in Sultry Springs after leaving very suddenly 10 years ago, and as far as anyone knew without a word to anyone. She left behind Colt, her first love, her father, friends, and the community, never to be heard from. Suddenly Leah is back after her father requires heart surgery, to take care of him and help him as he recovers. She really hoped to fly under the radar and not run into Colt, but that was not meant to be.

Colt, a former bad boy who has reformed his ways, is now the sheriff of Sultry Springs. He and Leah had a bad break up before she left, he never thought he was good enough for her anyway "I think I knew, deep down, that you wouldn't stay with a loser like me, and I panicked. I ruined everything so you couldn't dump me for a better guy." To his surprise, it's Leah he pulls over one day on her way back to town. Colt went a bit crazy when she left, but he has never gotten over Leah. As soon as he sees her again all the feelings come rushing back and he wants to get to know her all over again "...I'm all grown up now, and I'm not afraid."

Leah is afraid though. She tries to keep Colt at a distance, but it is impossible. He is irresistable and knows what who he wants...Leah! She is afraid of her heart breaking all over again, and she is afraid of Colt finding out the secret to why she left all those years ago without a word to anyone. She knows what she did was right, but parts of what she did were wrong too. She's going to have to come clean with Colt...especially as their relationship becomes deeper and Leah is comtemplating staying permanently in Sultry Springs. Will her secret be bad enough to drive a permanent wedge between Colt and her? Or have they both matured enough that they can deal with it and move on in a positive direction, hopefully together? Come to Sultry Springs and find out! :)

Surrender to Sultry is another winner by Macy Beckett! Her writing is smooth and flawless...I stayed up way too late reading Surrender to Sultry but could not put it down! I really liked both of the main characters, Leah and Colt. They are real people with real problems and real feelings. Colt really is a reformed bad boy, but he's got enough 'bad' left in him to go after what he considers his and look out anyone who bothers Leah! He comes across as really sincere, and he doesn't beat around the bush...he's not afraid to show his feelings. Leah grew up with her father who is a preacher...but that doesn't make her any less likely to have problems! Colt considers her an angel, but she definitely does not feel that way. Her life has been basically on hold for the last 10 years, she has been unable to move on. Maybe being back in Sultry Springs surrounded by family and friends is just what she needs! As I mentioned Leah has a secret she's withholding from Colt, and as bad as the secret is it doesn't make me like her any less. She tries her hardest to resist Colt this second time around, thinking maybe of everyone but herself.

I loved catching up with the other characters from Sultry Springs and getting a peek into their lives now! Preacher Mac (Leah's Dad) is a great secondary character too...strong enough but not overpowering.

Overall I am so impressed with Macy's stories! I love them all, and this one was no different. This will be going on my keeper shelf!

A flirtatious tale that will take you from laughter to tears! I actually rated this book 4.5. Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies.com:

Ten years ago, Leah McMahon left Sultry Springs, not even staying for her prom, leaving everyone to wonder why she left. Now she is back to nurse her father, the town pastor, who has just had heart surgery. Growing up, she had been madly in love with the town bad boy, Colt, but he had broken her heart. Years after leaving town, she became engaged to another man, but that did not work out. She has heard rumors about Colt’s wild life style and is determined to avoid him while she is in town. Leah and her father have told everyone that they had a disagreement and that is why she left town, but that is far from the truth. During her time away, she and her father kept in touch through Skype and though her father is happy to have her home, Leah harbors a secret that she dare not let anyone find out, especially Colt.

When he was younger, Colton Bea had been a wild, reckless juvenile delinquent, stealing hearts as well as cars. Colt had no wish to grow up…until he met Leah. However, falling in with a group of wild boys and peer pressure had ruined that for him. Colt had been devastated when Leah suddenly disappeared, right out of high school, not even attending her prom. He had tried desperately to find her, to no avail. After she left, Colt fell apart and spent his time in a bottle and womanizing, but none of that had helped heal his heart. Now Colt is the town sheriff and has mended his ways, but he has never forgotten the only woman he ever loved.

On patrol, Colt is shocked when he pulls a car over for a minor traffic infraction and discovers the driver is Leah. Seeing Colt again is like stepping back in time as Leah feels the same attraction to him as before, but she knows once he finds out her devastating secret, he will turn his back on her once and for all.

Colt has never forgotten her. Knowing that she will leave town once her father is on the mend, Colt figures he has only six weeks to get Leah to forgive him and hopefully, give him a second chance. He is not about to let her get away a second time, but will her secret destroy any future they may have together?

A flirtatious, yet poignant, tale, SURRENDER TO SULTRY, the latest book in author Macy Beckett’s SULTRY SPRINGS series, is a touching, sensual contemporary romance that is sure to steal the hearts of readers. This story will take readers through a range of emotions, from laughter to tears with a lusty sigh along the way. For Colt and Leah, their hearts have only ever longed for each other, but before they can have a future together; they must overcome some struggles along the way. However, this only serves to make their love for each other stronger. The one thing that never changes is the chemistry that blazes between them and I could not help rooting for them. Secrets, scorching passion, betrayal, small town and family dynamics, tender romance and true love intertwine in this emotion-packed story that will captivate readers from the first page. If you are looking for a heartwarming book with plenty of humor and heat, this is the one for you. Even though this story is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed this story immensely and look forward to seeing what Ms. Beckett comes up with next. Be sure to pick up a copy of your own. I highly recommend it!

Another wonderful book in Beckett's Sultry Springs series. Full review Surrender to Sultry is the 3rd book in Macy Beckett’s Sultry Springs series. The story begins with our heroine, Leah McMahon, who has just come home to Sultry Springs, Texas, after being away for 10 years. She is home to take care of her ailing father, the town’s preacher.

Colton Bea, is the town sheriff, and our hero in this story. Colton was the reason Leah left town 10 years ago, though no one knew why. Colt was the typical bad boy, but now he has matured and he constantly thinks about Leah, even searching for her to no avail. Colt has always loved Leah, but he treated her badly, as boys like to be boys. When he finds out she has come home, he rushes out to find her. Leah had hoped to avoid Colt at all costs, just help mend her father, visit a few friends, and go back to Minnesota. Leah, even 10 years later, finds herself still attracted to Colt, as she has never stopped loving him.

Colt does everything he can to get Leah to talk to him, and let him apologize. There were a couple of scenes early on, where Colt is trying to make amends or to get Leah to open up to him. But the things ‘Crazy Colt’ says, brings back horrible memories for Leah. I myself did not like when he kept reminding her of what he did, as well as the stupid joke from one of Colt’s friends that was embarrassing.

Leah has her own secrets, which is the real reason she left Sultry Springs. Only Leah’s father knows the truth. As much as Colt shows Leah how much he still cares about her, and that he has changed, she is very much afraid. She was hurt badly, and fears that if she rekindles this romance, she will not be able to handle the heartbreak again. But it is this secret that also keeps Leah at a distance, for she knows if Colt finds out the truth, there relationship will be destroyed. Though she knows what she did was the best thing for everyone. Since I will try to stay away from spoilers, you will have read this book, to find out this secret?

Despite not being crazy about Colt very early, I really loved how Beckett slowly built up this romance again. They ended up being a great couple, each having their own issues. There sexual chemistry was great, and very steamy. Colt did everything he could to win Leah back, even setting up a prom atmosphere in his house, with her prom dress, flowers, éclairs, and music; since they did not get to go to the prom, when she left town years before. Though this had its wonderful HEA, the last ¼ of the book was an emotional rollercoaster of a ride, with Beckett pulling all of our heart strings. Macy Beckett has a wonderful series in Sultry Springs. I have read them all, and look forward to continuing to spend time in Sultry Springs. Surrender to Sultry was a wonderful read that I wholly recommend.

Surrender to Sultry is the third book in the Sultry Springs Series. While it can be read alone, I think your reading pleasure would be enhanced if you read at least the second book, A Shot of Sultry. In the second book, you get a glimpse into the life of Colton Bea, the hero of Surrender to Sultry.

I’ve read all three books and I have to say this book has a completely different feel to it. You still get the funny moments Macy is known for but there aren’t a lot of them. Surrender to Sutlry is deeper, heartbreaking, and touching all at the same time. The book takes places two years after A Shot of Sultry. During this time, Colton has grown up a lot. He now takes his job as the sheriff extremely seriously. Colton no longer does one night stands and drinking like there is no tomorrow. But one thing about Colton that hasn’t changed is his feelings for the one who got away, Leah McMahon.

Colton was a bad boy trouble maker in high school. His parents sent him to Sultry Springs to stay with his grandfather, in hopes that the judge could straighten him out. Leah MaMahon was and is the only daughter of widower Pastor MaMahon. Colton and Leah became friends, with Leah tutoring him in different subjects. With Colton’s bad boy reputation on the line, he made a bet with another guy that he could get Leah to ditch her purity vow. When Colton succeeded he was happy to report back what he did, to which the other guy made a grand announcement about it. Leah and Colton breakup and a month or so later, Leah left town.

Ten years go by with Colton not being able to find Leah and with Leah not speaking to anyone in town or returning for visits. Once Leah is back, Colton makes it his mission to show her he’s a changed man and win her back. However for Leah, her only goals are to take care of her father and avoid Colton like the plague while she’s in Sultry. Since she’s left, Leah has been hiding a secret from Colton and everyone in town. It’s a guilt she’s carried day in and day out. It’s definitely a secret I didn’t see coming.

The romance in this book is a slow burn, until it heats up to boiling hot. Surrender to Sultry is a story about forgiveness and second chances. Everytime I read a Sultry book, I think it’s better than the previous. But no... By FAR Macy has saved the best for last. Surrender to Sultry wraps up the series nicely.

Review from Backchatting Books

"Surrender to Sultry" definitely falls more into the sweet category than the sultry. This novel has a bit less humour and more Christian values than the others. If you’ve followed the series, you’ll know that Colton Bea has carried a torch for Leah McMahon since she upped and left town ten years ago. Colton did everything he could to find her but failed. Now Leah is back and Colton intends to win her heart.

Leah, the only child of the local pastor, abruptly fled Sultry Springs when she was seventeen. She worked as a home care nurse and was paid under the table just so she could live underneath Colton’s radar. Her father’s heart attack brings her back to town again and back to Colton. Both Leah and Colton were guilty of immaturity when they were young but Leah’s actions had a greater effect. Leah has a very strong moral compass and tries to do the right thing, no matter what the personal cost is. She needed a lot of courage to confess after all this time and although I respect that, I wish she had found her gumption a little earlier.

Colton has a fairly idealised view of his ‘Angel’. It’s a shame he can’t see the same good qualities in himself however and continues to castigate himself for his treatment of Leah when they were young. Colton tried to forget her with booze and women but after receiving a debilitating injury from an ex-girlfriend, he gave up his tom-catting ways and turned into a really decent guy. Unfortunately the rest of the town hasn’t exactly picked up on his change of heart. If he is going to win Leah’s heart, he has to convince not only her but her friends that he has reformed. There were some very sweet scenes between them, especially when they finally get to dance together. I particularly liked how Colton didn’t muck around – he really worked hard to win Leah over.

The plot isn’t complicated and once Leah reveals her big secret, it is fairly obvious how the big complication between her and Colton will play out. I didn’t mind this though as in this series it is more about the journey than the final destination. Previous HEA couples make an appearance and I enjoyed finding out what they had been up to – especially when linked with Colton and Leah’s romance.

I enjoyed my time with the good folk of Sultry Springs and am a bit sorry the series is ending here. I hope Rachel gets a HEA in a novella just to tie up the final loose ends.

This series just keeps getting better and better. Surrender to Sultry is the 3rd book of the entertaining Sultry Springs series by Macy Beckett and quite possibly my favorite, thus far.

Colton Bea is crazy and everyone knows it. He's known far and wide for his wild antics and womanizing ways. Forget the fact, that he's the town lawman. Life is changing for Colt and it's not necessarily for the good. I guess being hit and almost killed by a disgruntled woman will do that for you. His body is healing, but his heart and mind may never. He knows he needs to change his life, it didn't take getting run over for him to know that. His wild ways have always been a way for him to ignore the one woman who ever truly had his heart. It was his fault that everything went south and he knows it, but he never got the chance to make amends or even apologize. She disappeared and if her daddy knew where she went he wasn't saying. That was a long time ago, but he never got over it. Now, she's back and he'll stop at nothing to re-write history.

Leah McMahon is back in Sultry Springs to take care of her ill father. The town's people and his congregation all think she ran off and left her widowed father. She hasn't been back since high school, but she's surprised she hadn't met up with a lynch mob upon entering town. As fate would have it, she meets up with someone worse - the reason she left town in the first place, Colton Bea. Contrary to popular opinion she didn't abandon her dad. She's stayed in close contact with her dad and has been told the details of the many adventures and exploits of Colt. Knowing all that she knows, her heart still beat faster when he was near. Insisting he's changed, Leah is torn between the desire she clearly still feels for Colt and the problems that she could unearth if she incorrectly trusts him, again.

Leah's story was bittersweet. The sacrifices she has made to make a better life for others is astonishing. It really made me stop and think "could I sacrifice so much?". Colt's complete change was so painful for him, at times, but a long time coming. The way this couple found their way back to one another and traversed the rocky past and secrets to create a new bond was entertaining and heartbreaking all at once.

Title: Surrender to Sultry

Series: Sultry Springs book 3

Author: Macy Beckett

Genre: Contemporary

Leah McMahon is back in Sultry Springs, Texas to help her dad recover from surgery. But there's a new sheriff in town and he's none other than Colton Bea, the wild-as-weeds boy who stole her heart a decade earlier. Colt's a changed man now and the feelings between these high school sweethearts are stronger than ever. But Leah's got a secret so devastating that he may never forgive her. Can she find a way to earn absolution and build a future with the sultry man she's loved half her life?

In the past Colt was the good old boy, the flirt and the ‘go to’ guy for a fun time. After a one night-stand gone wrong ran him down with her Ford Taurus, he now sees his behavior as reckless, arrogant and stupid and for the last couple of years has lived life quietly.

Leah McMahon has been gone from Sultry Springs, TX for 10 years and as far as the town knows she broke her daddy’s heart when she left and never came back… until now. She’s back to take care of her dad after open-heart surgery. From the interactions between Leah and her dad Pastor Mac we learn why she left. I agree it’s a WHOPPER of a reason and poor Colt is in for a shocker. I hesitate to say too much in my review because I don’t want to give anything away but as always Macy Beckett and her story telling drew me in and made me laugh and cry. She took my breath away and made me feel the longing, sorrow and regret that both Leah and Colt felt over their decisions. I will say that I got my HEA and in my opinion that's what makes reading romance books worth while!

The supporting cast in this series has always been exceptional… it was great to catch glimpses of June and Luke from book 1 (they are having a baby!! YAY) I loved that we were able to be at the Welcome Home party for Bobbi and Trey, the leading characters from book 2. Throw in Colt’s sister and niece and Leah’s best-friend, Rachel, who is NOT Colton’s biggest fan and Colt’s granddaddy Judge Bea and watch the sparks fly! This is the 3rd and final book in the series… I was sad to see this come to an end. I feel like I had made life-long friends with the Sultry Springs residents and I know that I will follow Macy Beckett for a long time to come!

Oh man. If you haven't read this series or this book yet, do it now. Run, don't walk, to wherever you can get your hands on it. This book is equal parts sexy and sweet and will make any reader happy.

I teared up several times and full-on cried at the end. Feel like such a sap, but it was worth it. My emotions were going through the whole book. I'd smile, laugh, tear up, and plenty of times I was so nervous waiting on what was going to happen that I could barely breathe.

I loved the first book, and really enjoyed the second book too. But this one just blows the first two out of the water. I read it in two sittings, and that's only because I was getting just too tired to keep reading at 2:30 am!

I love Colt and Lea. I didn't realize how emotion-filled this book would be. They have such a rough past but are so sweet together. Colt is one hell of a bad boy hell-raiser but with her he is a completely different person. My favorite kind of hero.

Lea is so sweet and so haunted by her own past and desperate for happiness. I love the two of them together.

Just going to add that this book is sexy, but it almost takes a backseat to such a sweet and emotional story.

A bittersweet ending to Sultry Springs. Reformed bad boy Colton Bea is now the Sheriff of Sultry Springs. Colt’s living life with a lot of regrets of his past. His biggest being the girl he let get away. When that girl whose now a woman suddenly shows up back in town ten years later Colt vows to win her back.

Leah McMahon comes back to town with ten years worth of secrets. Not only from the town but also from the only man she’s ever loved. All she wants to do is nurse her father’s health back and go back home and hope all her secrets stay just that. She wants nothing to do with Colt even though he manages to stir up feelings inside her she thought long dead.

In the previous books I didn’t like Colt very much. He was a womanizing borderline drunk that didn’t have very many redeeming qualities. But after a woman he had a one night stand with goes ballistic and runs him over, his time in rehabilitation opened his eyes to the man he was and it wasn’t the man he wanted to be. Colt made a lot of changes in his life and he see’s Leah as his final redeeming factor to having the perfect life. Colt is the perfect example of what happens when you put something up on a pedestal for a long time. He’s always thought that Leah was perfect and he was the one that did all the wrong and when Leah’s secret comes out and she falls off that pedestal Colts initial reaction is to lash out and hurt Leah for not being that perfect person he thought she was. Colt just thought he was a better person but he still had some more to learn and had to be open to forgive as Leah did with the pain he causes her all those years ago.

Author Macy Beckett has captured the small town atmosphere in SURRENDER TO SULTRY. She brings the best elements - friends, family, love and loyalty - together for a tender love story with bits of suspense woven in.

In a town where everyone knows everybody and what they’re doing, Leah McMahon is determined to stay under Sheriff Colton Bea’s radar. She’s returned to Sultry after a 10 year absence to care for her father following his heart surgery. As soon as he’s on the mend, Leah plans to return to her life up north and far away from Colton.

When he stops a car for a traffic violation, Colton never imaged it would be his long-lost love Leah. Struck speechless, Colton can’t tell Leah how sorry he is for the way he treated her all those years ago. Having given up his hellion ways, Colton is determined to get Leah’s forgiveness and try to make things right this time.

After a decade of womanizing, can the reformed sheriff finally do right by the preacher’s daughter? But Leah has her own secrets that could jeopardize any chance of happiness. Would he ever forgive her if he knew?

Beckett’s characters, realistic with flaws and problems, are well developed. Her secondary characters are rich in flavor adding to the depth of the story. Her detailed descriptions of the small town and its residents places the reader among the characters.

SURRENDER TO SULTRY is a tantalizing read with a hometown feel. The story flows smoothly and at a steady pace holding your attention as the sparks fly between Leah and Colton.

After reading Shot of Sultry, I looked forward to another Sultry Springs book. I grew to love the quirky characters of the small Texas town of Sultry and felt like I was coming back to a well-loved place.

Beckett has written another flawed hero (my favorite kind). In Shot of Sultry, Colt was a devil-may-care womanizer. I kind of fell in love with him so I was happy to see he was the main attraction in Surrender to Sultry. Colt is one of those men with a sordid past that he struggles to put behind him, but is so endearing and charming that he can be forgiven most anything. He has an adorable sense of humor and knows just which buttons to press to sway Leah back to his side.

Leah was a little tougher. I had a hard time understanding why she left town, even though it was explained throughout the book. Perhaps other readers will get it but I kept thinking any other girl would have stayed at home, especially since she had a loving father. (Although her father’s reasons for letting her, even urging her, to leave home are explained and I can see his point of view.) But as to character, Leah has bucket loads of it. She is intelligent, savvy, knows what she wants from life, and has struggled to provide a good life for her son.

Independently I like and admire both Colt and Leah. Together, they are adorable. Surrender to Sultry is another light-hearted, warm, funny boy-reunites-with-girl kind of story. And while it may be the third in a series, you don’t have to have read the first two to enjoy Surrender to Sultry. It is utterly charming all on its own.
