Love is giving him the power to destroy you but trusting him not to…-Unknown
Chloe Harper has lost all trust in men. After a BDSM scene gone wrong, Chloe never thought she would be able to explore her desires or trust again. Three years and a lot of pain later, Chloe finds herself face to face with Professor and BDSM club owner, Lucas Walker again.
Lucas Walker has spent the last couple of years protecting himself and his heart that is until his research assistant Chloe Harper walks into his office with a bruised face. After a confrontation with Chloe and her abusive boyfriend, Lucas vows to protect her at any cost, even if he loses himself in the process.
The two begin a journey of healing, trust building and explorations of desires. But is it enough for Chloe to overcome her abusive past and Lucas to release the control he desperately craves and thrives on…or will their pasts devour them?
I am totally flabbergasted. The book starts off with Chloe in an abusive relationship. Lucas is her advisor for her dissertation. He notices her bruises, and confronts her. She pushes him away. Finally she confesses that her boyfriend beats her. They are having coffee when the boyfriend confronts them. Then Lucas let's her go back to the apartment she shares with Sean (the boyfriend).
I get that she is adult, but he is supposed to be all ultra protective. What did he think was going to happen to her when Sean got back to the apartment? She is beaten and raped - and calls Lucas. Then, only and hour after she is raped, she wants to get it on with Lucas, and is pissed when he refuses. (WTF?)
Lucas and Chloe get together. She get pregnant - they don't know who's baby it is. There is no discussion of what the future holds. No one really seems freaked out about the baby after the initial reveal. However after just finding out about the baby because she was so sick with morning sickness she had to go to the hospital - Lucas wants to get more into their D/s relationship. (Like as soon as they get home from the hospital).
Then they do a scene at Lucas's BDSM club where he shares her with another Dom. (That was another WTF moment for me). (Because let's frame this up again - this is your pregnant, barely girlfriend (because you pissed her off so much she didn't speak to you for month until you found out she was pregnant) who just got out of an abusive relationship where she was often called a whore, and you want to go slow with the whole D/s). Humm. Nope.
Then Chloe finds out about Julie, Lucas' ex. Who he tried to collar. She asks him about her - and instead of having a dissuasion he acts like a child and lashes out - to the point Chloe is sleeping in the guest room for two weeks. Then she makes the poor decision to go out without the bodyguard she's had because of Sean - and of course ends up getting beat up by Sean. While this is happening - Julie has shown up at Lucas condo - and he lets her get her hands all over him - including in his pants and he kisses her.
Then the timeline stops making scenes. You get Lucas's POV where he's all into Julie (I was SO pissed!) - but eventually pushes her away.
From Chloe's POV you have her calling Lucas after the beating, and a woman picking up the phone and Lucas sounding out of breath. So she hangs up, calls Marcus (the guy Lucas shared her with on the beginning) and and gets him to take her to Lucas's place. Julie is STILL there? If Lucas pushed her away - got the phone call ect. why the heck was she still there (and Lucas was kissing her when Chloe walked in). That had to be at least 20 minutes later. Why was he letting her kiss him again?
Chloe looses the baby - is pissed at Lucas - but then after one not so good apology forgives him - and he proposed.
Ok, what? There was more to the Julie thing - even Marcus says he's still a little hung up on her - and apparently she and Lucas were switches together which he needs at the time because of "issues". Which are never brought up again.
Then there is the fact that once again no one seems to care about the baby at all. The fact that she was pissed before all this happens because Lucas was being an ass is never addressed. Also the fact that Lucas likes to "whip a sub until she bleeds" is never brought but (he doesn't want her to know because he's afraid she won't be ok with it ) - you'd think pre marriage proposal would be a good time to discuss everything.
Ugh. I'm just so mad at so much of the crap. Half of it doesn't make any sense - and the other half pisses me off. The two stars are because, despite it all, the sex was hot.

This book was just okay. It needs to be sent back to the editor. There were added words and his was used when it was supposed to be her. A few times would be okay but it was throughout the book. The characters were all over the place. Considering all that had happened in the last part of the book, I was surprised by the nutshell ending.
This is an ok read and the story is interesting but the problem is with the characters. Something happens with Chloe and then within no time she is doing things that a normal person wouldn't. Lucas takes Chloe to a club and the minute they arrive Lucas introduces her to Marcus and some things happen - with all that had went on with Chloe this was just unbelievable and left her confused. That's just a couple of things, but there are more. The book also leaves a lot of questions that don't get answered and the ending was rushed.

Crack into the realm of the BDSM world with this read...
This book brings you through Chloe's emotions and clearly she's looking for a strong figure to protect her and Lucas seems to fit that to a T. He's been her mentor and authority figure. Once she leans on him she realizes her own strength; her own power and it takes twists through this books.
I loved the public scene at the Club...this writer clearly set that scene with exquisite detail, and I could even see the other ones playing out around them. All around delicious fun.
Both characters change and fight their own internal battles and you, as the reader fight your own just hoping they can figure it out and come together.
Atrocious. Pulled him away from the throne of his admirers? His shirt was rustled? When an author shows such a lack of command of the English language, is it any wonder her characters are also completely and utterly stupid and abominably predictable? Defintely WON'T be reading more of these books.
Devour Me is the story of Professor Lucas Walker and Chloe Harper. Chloe is an assistant to Lucas and has pretty much lost all faith in men. She is in an abusive relationship and when Lucas finds out, he is determined to keep Chloe safe. He wants Chloe to trust him to protect her, but that's hard for her to do since she doesn't really trust men in general. But with Lucas's persistence, Chloe slowly comes around and begins to let down her walls and let him in. Even though Lucas is domineering and has to have control, he is really a sweetheart. I love the way that he took care of Chloe. And there's a club scene in this book that is very hot! If you're looking for a BDSM novel where the heroine is in need of being rescued and the hero is a dominant sweetheart of man, then definitely check this one out!
I loved how their love story progress. I loved how Chloe and Lucas gets close in this novel and how they overcome their own personal stress. But for me there are still more to tell about their story.
I don't quite satisfied with the ending of their story. As much as I wanted to know if Sean got killed by Marcus or Lucas? Or how there wedding will be like? Is there a chance they were given a child? So hows Lucas doing while taking his sabbatical? And ofcourse how Dr. Harper enjoyed her teaching? So theres a tons of question for me like to have a answered real soon. I just wished Lucas and Chloe story was a bit more longer.
But above all Paige you given the new idea of BDSM a new level. Thanks for sharing this to us. More of Lucas and Chloe's story to come.
I liked this story it has a lot of potential for a series but I did not like the ending. I thought it was to abrupt and leaves questions unanswered. The reason that I gave this story 4 stars is because with the exception of the ending I liked the way this book went you can really see potential for future stories in this series with all of the characters that you meet in this first book. I do like that no matter what Chloe though she is a submissive really stands up for herself. I think for the price this is a good beginning to this series and I would like to if the price is right see more from this author.
If you can get past the atrocious editing, or lack thereof, the story did have potential.
Unfortunately, there were many elements that were hard to fathom. A victim of abuse, who becomes aroused, hours after a sexual assault?
A Dom who needs some self-refection as to whether he truly is a Dom at all; and an ending that is simply………where’s the rest?
I never write negative reviews, but the story had the ability to go so much further, which was the saddest part of all.
I will probably read the second book, only because it too is short and I already own a print copy. However, if the editing and content aren’t vastly improved, that will mean the end of this author for me.
Although I found the sex super hot, the repeated redundancies were too frequent. This novella ended like it started, STUPID! I'm not put out by the $1.99 (overpriced by $1.98), but by the lost 4 hours of my life, reading this mess. C'mon! This sad sorry tale is a water downed, DUPLICATE version of 50 Shades. I wouldn't read the next book in this series if I were paid to do so. Devour Me really disappointed me.
First of all for a Dom Lucas was very weak and lost, he was kinda pathetic begging Chloe to forgive him because he said or done something stupid. Isn't he the one who should know what's best for her controlling himself the situation and her? He didn't do any of those things, whatever happened either she ran away or they had sex I wonder if the Author decided it by flipping a coin.
I wanted to like this book way more than I did. Chloe got on my nerves. I thought she was a bit childish really. Lucas irritated me with his snarky comments. I was trying to understand how he loved her when he obviously had a low opinion of her. There were a couple of other things that did not work for me either.
3.5stars. It was a story that unfolded in a way I didn't fathom from the short description of the book. Overall it was a good story but for me it had unbelievable parts that I just could not over look.
I love Lucas & Chloe. I felt so bad for what Chloe had to go thru and to find someone like Lucas to love her the way she should be loved. I loved all the characters except Sean, I wish someone would kick his but.. I have read the other books in this series and I couldn't get enough of this series
