This sing-along book is perfect for reading or singing. It treats the youngster to good farming vocabulary and remains relatable.

Moral: Honor thy farmers - it’s hard work.

Length: Much shorter than a real day on the farm, but that doesn’t take away from its substance.

Favorite Line: We’re down at the pigsty, peeping through the door at one mother pig and her family of four.”

Overall impression: Big love to all the farmers out there who grow our food and make sure we’re healthy and happy. This book celebrates that farm. I guarantee this book features an organic and family farm, as no feedlot or mechanization is present. You can almost hear Willie, Neil and Mellencamp celebrating these children.

I would chose this book for my classroom because it teaches all about farm life. It tells what its like working and playing on a farm throughout the day. The reading age is 3-7 years old. I also like this book because its illustrations are very beautiful and colorful. At the end of this book it includes educational notes about farm life. Its a good book for children who are not familiar with farming and animals. It also has a nice sing along at the end.

This is a fun introduction for children to "farm life," taking a look at where and who is responsible for growing and producing our food.

A simple story about the life of a farmer with each page having a verse and illustrations for one of the tasks the farmer's family have to do. Each ends with the same refrain 1-2-3 a farmer's life for me.

A great idea to introduce younger children to farm life and in the back there are more details about each of the task which you can talk about with your child. My 6.5 year declared that the book was for children younger than him but that he really liked it!

This version also comes with a CD. This includes a group singing the book to appropriate country sounding music. If you are brave the score is included in the book! There is also an interactive animation of the story with the word to sing highlighted as you go.

Nice bright illustrations and a good book to share. I'd say this was best for 4-6 year olds.

A Farmer's Life for Me by Jan Dobbins and Laura Huliska-Beith is a terrific sing a long produced by barefoot books. The song talks about what happens on the farm and stars a great multicultural group of kids. The song can be found on youtube if you need a copy.

I recommend this book for kids 3-7

Barefoot's latest singalong is just as fun as others. Jacob loved when I pointed out that there is a kid hiding on each page for him to find.
