Dona Herweck Rice has written hundreds of books, stories, and poems for kids on just about everything, from acrobats to zucchini. She also loves reading, live theater, dancing, and singing at the top of her lungs. She lives in southern California with her husband, son, and one cute, silly, and loveable little dog.
I have never been a big fan of nonfiction books, but this book was engaging and had a lot of visual things that kept me interested. This would be great for a child who is learning about a frog. It is easy for kids to follow along with. This book was educational, but not in a boring way. It is a quick book to read, while still being educational at the same time. It provides visuals that help with the understanding of what happens in a frog's life. If you love frogs or are trying to teach a young child about frogs, this book is perfect for that.
A Frog's Life by Dona Herweck Rice is a non-fiction story intended for children in the 1st grade. The story focuses on the life cycle of a frog. I liked this book because I thought the different stages of the life cycle of a frog were fully explained and were accompanied by colorful illustrations. I think this book would be appealing to young readers because the information and facts about a frog's life are written in a way that's easy for children to understand and read. Teachers can use this book for a Science lesson where the students need to identify the basic needs of plants and animals. As a project or formal assessment, the teacher can have the students create a poster that identifies the different stages in the life cycle of a frog. The teacher should have each stage be identified by a heading and includes a drawing of that stage and a short description of what happens to the frog during that stage. For example, the tadpole stage should have a heading that says Tadpoles, a drawing of what a tadpole looks like, and a description of a tadpole: Tadpoles is the second stage in the life cycle of a frog where they have tails like fish but no arms or legs.
This is a very informational book, with just the basic information. It has simple words and pictures to follow along. I would recommend it for young readers because of the simplicity of it. I do with it had more interesting facts about the frogs, but otherwise it was a good read.
Quick and informational non-fiction book about the life cycle of frogs. I particularly enjoyed the pictures of the tadpoles growing into frogs, but would have liked more information on different aspects of a frog's life such as diet, for example.
This book has some useful information in it, although it is short. I feel that it would be more beneficial for students to read a book about frogs that has a little bit more information in it. I might use this book in my classroom for lower performing students, as it is short and an easy read.
This book is exactly what it looks like. A small informational kids book that helps tell the story of a frogs life. I think this would be good for a classroom to have as silent reading or simply free time books for your reading nook.

This type of reader will probably interest boys a little more than girls, but is overall a nice book to learn about nature. This would make for a good science lesson on how tadpoles become frogs. You could even buy some tadpoles for your classroom to get more of a hands on feel for this lesson.
A Frog's Life is a nonfiction book that explains in simple language how a tiny tadpole grows up to be a frog. The pictures are wonderful, and will help keep young readers engaged. This is a great non fiction book that I would incorporate into a science lesson for elementary school students.
1. None 2. 1st grade 3. This book is showing the stages of a frog's life. It is very colorful and isn't too dense to where children wouldn't pay attention while reading. It has photographs and illustrations to show the different stages. 4. I enjoyed reading this book. Even though I knew the stages of a frog's life it was interesting to see it again and with pictures to describe it. The pictures really help if a child is having trouble reading, they are still able to follow along using the pictures. 5. Children may be able to use this during a science lesson. They can see their own tadpoles or take a trip to a river bank.
