Book two centers around Roland, the pack's beta, and his haunted past. While I loved finding out more about the mysterious and dark beta, I had sort of had my heart set on him with a different wolf from about half way through book 1. This has tainted my feelings a little. Now, in werewolf terms Natasha is a much better match for Roland than the one I had picked out, and she was a great character as well. Even the wolf I originally wanted to be with Roland found a bit of a happy ending of her own. Being introduced to Natasha's pack and her crazy father added some extra excitement to this story as well.
For some reason I just couldn't get into Untamed as much as I did Legend. I enjoyed Roland and Natasha's storyline. Who doesn't enjoy a happy ending for two damaged souls? I think my problem was that Sam and Nefarious' relationship hit a weird bump for me. They still had the physical heat from the first book, but emotionally they didn't seem to grow anymore. When Samantha takes the plunge and decides to be with Maddie for the first time, she doesn't even consult her mate over the prospect of bringing a third party into the relationship. Maybe wolf mates are different than human relationships, but it bothered me. Other than that, the novella was good fun :)
I couldn't wait to get straight on to this one, only finishing the first part earlier today! Not disappointed, just as good as the first. Again, the dynamics between the characters is heartfelt and intense. The writing is cleverly done and wonderfully intricate, discriptive and emotionally powerful. I genuinely welled up a few times. I love this series, I am desperate for the next...I'm totally hooked. Reccomend to anyone who loves this genre. Its a great, and unique approach, with diverse characters, charged storyline and overwhelming atmosphere. Love it!
So this story is about Roland and Natasha, not much wrong there. I was actually looking forward to it and enjoyed the beginning. But then there is this tension between Maggie and Sam.. followed by a wolf/wolf chase and some girl/girl action. I couldn't be bothered to read it, started skipping pages and finally just stopped reading. No, no no no no no no. Not after the whole "wolfs mate for life" stuff from the first book. Sure it's okay to mess around, if you're not mated. But this? Just no. Didn't finish the story, sorry Roland and Natasha. Deleted the books from my computer. Just NO!
I'm loving this storyline and this second book has me hook, line and sinker in love with how all these alphas come together and make you anxious to read more. Jennifer Kohout is a talented story writer and a great addition to the paranormal genre. I look forward to reading more of her work.
The first in the series was a free download and I liked it sufficiently to purchase the sequel. It was money--and time--well spent. I look forward to reading the third book. Nicely done.
I liked this one much better than the first. I do think that it could benefit from adding more of the villain and expanding the military/government stuff.
