Valerie Hansen is the pen name of Valerie Whisenand.

Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name. See this thread for more information.

Although I have been a published author since the mid 1980s, I have been writing women's Christian fiction almost exclusively since 1999.

There is a longer, more detailed bio on my website so there's no need for me to repeat all that here. Right now, I write for all three Love Inspired lines, Romance, Suspense and Historical. I'm delighted to have been included that broadly and besides, it keeps me so busy that I stay out of trouble. Well, mostly.

You'll find me on the LI Historical blog as well as other LI features. If I try to do much more I won't have time to write my books!

2.5 stars (rating may differ depending on whether site allows half star ratings.) A friend sent me this book in a box of books. I thought they were all ones she'd read, but I don't see that she entered it on her virtual bookshelf, so I might have been wrong--or she may have just had a lot going on in her life and gotten distracted and not realized she hadn't entered it.

I feel bad ranking it so low since she gave it to me--I did enjoy most of the story--but I start all books out with a 3 (the middle/average rank) and then add or subtract from that. The main reason I subtracted from this one was that the suspense part is left hanging. That's probably not the author's "fault" since I saw at the end that this is a series where each book is written by a different author, so I suspect whoever was in charge of organizing the series gave each author an outline. So we have this mysterious "Chief" (also called El Jefe)--and there probably are clues to his/her identity within the story, but not enough that I could recognize them to have any point toward a suspect of who wants to get them off the ranch.

I haven't read the first book in the series, and don't plan to seek out the rest of the series--which is a good indicator of how much I didn't like the way the suspense part of the plot was handled.

The book "Danger Within" (Faithat the Crossroads, #2) by Valerie Hansen has an epilog that gives hints of what the next story will be about. The creative characters including different animals, Colorado setting, and an ending that will entice readers to search for more books in this series. This book is from the Love Inspired Suspense series. copy right 2006 243 pages

The 2nd book in this series- Faith at the Crossroads.

Out of the many Series I have read by multi-authors, Valerie Hansen has written in most of them. She keeps the details accurate with the other writers along with adding to the story with her writing as well.

The more I read series books the more respect I have for these authors. To keep personalities and traits the same as another person has in a previous book takes alot of talent I believe. In this case, many of these traits in personalities have been continued from the first six books in the Faith in the Line series.

We met Michael Vance in the previous series when his sister Holly came to the ranch with Jake Montgomery to hide out from someone stalking her while they were putting a case together.

Michael is needing a vet and his Aunt Fiona introduces him to Layla Dixon, who just happened to mention she was a vet while waiting for a seat at the Cafe. She helps on his ranch as both a vet and housekeeper. Although being a vegetarian she is not much with cooking and she don't seem to be into housekeeping either.

A great read.
