Ok so I love Olaf ⛄️ and I love kids books. I however dislike when a book is geared towards child participation and then doesn’t lend itself to that. Have the number in the same spot on a sentence to offer consistency. Perhaps put the number separate from the sentence to allow for opportunity for the child to count.
A Frozen themed counting board book that features Olaf as the main character. Other Frozen characters makes appearances, but it's Olaf who is sharing a "story". During storytime, I focused on the counting and made my own story to tell. I ignored Olaf's conversational story with Sven.
A nice little and colorful book to aid a young child learn their numbers through the digit 10. Simple sentences in short paragraphs and the illustrations are colorful.
A nice little board book with sparkly pages. Simple pictures and things to count. MAB4m is too young for the Frozen connection but I imagine this will be a favorite as she gets older.
"But where is Elsa? How come there is glitter and no Elsa? Where is she?" My preschooler was very hopeful by Anna's end appearance, but she was mad that Elsa did not make the cut in this board book.
My granddaughter loves this book. She had me read it over and over again. It is great for learning to count from 1-10. I loved all the glitter and sparkle.
When sharing this at library baby time and story time, be sure to engage the children in actions, using cues from the illustrations.
They can touch their nose, wave their arms, touch their tummy. They can stand up and stomp their feet (or babies legs can be gently tugged or toes wiggled). They can hold a hand up and count five fingers, pretend to be a pine tree by raising arms high over head and touching palms together, and make icicles either by bending over or dangling hand down. They can pop hands open and shut eight times. They can hold arms tightly to their sides while making tiny flapping motions (so as not to bump their neighbors) imitating making snow angels. They can hold up both hands and count to ten and then blow a kiss.
Follow up by singing "You are my snowman, My only snowman, You make me happy when skies are gray. And when the sun's out, You'll hear us all shout "Please don't take our snowman away!" from "the Social Butterfly".
Olaf goes counting things from 1 to 10 in this short glittery board book. Sven, and Kristoff, and Anna show up to help too, and the things that Olaf counts are appropriate for the setting, like icicles and snow flakes. I especially liked that the things aren't necessarily lined up all nice and neat to be counted, like on the snow flake page you have to do a little bit of looking to make sure you counted them all, so it doubles as an easy hide-n-seek on the larger number pages. A fun board book for fans of Olaf, Frozen, winter, or just counting.
Riding on the popularity of Frozen, Olaf's 1 2 3 has some of the qualities of a good counting book. The items to count are on the same page or a facing page and there is a number on each page. However, the numbers are small and the written word for the number is not given. I suspect this book will be popular only as long as Frozen is popular, and it is too soon to tell how long that will be. I do not think I would get this book for my classroom.
This book was fun to read with my son. The only thing he likes about frozen is Olaf and the silly reindeer. This is one of the first books my son helped read. He counted all the number and repeated most of the words after me. Great book for a beginner counter/reader.
This book was fun to read! It teaches children how to count by incorporating their favorite Disney characters from the movie Frozen. The pages are colorful and full of glitter! My 1 year old loved it!
This is just kind of an odd one, though we love Frozen. It just didn't flow well, and though your little ones likely won't notice the halting text, you definitely will. But still we read it anyway, because my little one loves Frozen!
