Taking a week off from her internship at the Denver Art Museum, twenty-two-year-old Brooklyn Foster is headed up to her family’s private cabin near Vail, Colorado for a little rest and relaxation. Unfortunately, she isn’t aware that her brother-in-law, an all-pro defensive lineman, has already offered the use of the cabin to his friend and former teammate, Ryan Landry, the drop-dead gorgeous NFL superstar she’s had a not-so-secret crush on since she was a teenager. As luck would have it, he is also the same man who rebuffed her youthful advances four years earlier, after she ineptly attempted to seduce him in one of the most humiliating moments of her life, and much to her dismay, the same man who can still start her heart racing with only a smile.
Temporarily sidelined from his position as one of the most-celebrated wide receivers in the NFL due to a mild concussion, Ryan Landry eagerly accepted his close friend Wade Calloway’s offer to rest and recuperate at his cabin in the Rocky Mountains, unaware that he wouldn’t be the only one making use of the luxurious retreat. But when Wade’s sister-in-law, the lovely Brooklyn Foster arrives unexpectedly, he can’t deny that spending the next week with the tempting young beauty holds a great deal more appeal than it should. And all too soon, and despite the warning bells ringing in his head, Ryan realizes that keeping his hands off of his temporary roommate isn’t going to be easy, for it is glaringly apparent that Brooklyn in no longer the off-limits, precocious teenager she once was.
Locked away from the outside world by a fierce winter blizzard, their passion for one another can no longer be denied and soon eclipses even the furious storm raging outside, leaving them both wondering what the future holds once they leave their perfect mountain hideaway.
Zero character development and poorly written. The author does an excellent job of stating the obvious. At one point she describes the hero as "looking like the Michelin Man, the well-known symbol of the Michelin tire company". Who else would the Michelin Man represent? While out snowmobiling H/h encounter "several other riders along the way, fellow men, women and children". Who else would be riding snow mobiles? Elk? Deer? Gnomes?
The author does a lot of telling and little showing, and her dialogue is completely flat. At one point H/h stop to admire the view:
"Isn't this a marvelous view?" she said, once she'd pulled off her helmet.
"I'll say," Ryan agreed.
I can't recommend this novella and I won't be reading any other of this author's books.
Brooklyn and Ryan both found themselves together a cabin on the mountains above Denver that was owned by her brother-in-law and sister and friends of Ryan. The week they spent together started as a Love Storm.
Brooklyn had a crush on Ryan for four years, since she was eighteen and now she was alone on the mountain with him. She decided he would have to make the first move, as she had trouble seeing him interest in her; he was a professional football player in the NFL and she was just an ordinary girl.
Ryan found the beautiful Brooklyn funny, smart and fun to be with and moved from being interested in her to wanting a permanent relationship. This is a sexy and cute story with two attractive characters and a happy ending too.
I was rather generous in rating this book as "okay" because it really wasn't, but I save the one star rating for stories that are torture to slog through, and this one wasn't. It was a quick and not unpleasant read and blessedly short. I could not figure out the target audience for this book. The writing and characterizations were so very juvenile that I thought it was meant to be a kids' book and then the author throws in a boring sex manual that had to be skimmed over, which seemed so out of place in a kid's book. Maybe the target audience is anyone who doesn't know who the Michelin Man is (sorry, you have to read the book to get that remark). This book may also be okay for readers who think romance novels should consist of cardboard stock characters superimposed on a generic formulaic stock story.
Love Storm is written by Jennifer McNare. It is a short book but very good.
Brooklyn Foster is headed for her sister's cabin in Vail. She is driving the treacherous roads in the middle of a winter storm. She just hopes she makes it to the cabin quickly and without any trouble. She is looking forward to staying a week at the cabin and really resting.
Ryan Landry is staying at his friend's cabin in Vail after sustaining a head injury while playing football. He is staying here because his place is being worked on and he needs solitude. Little does he know that Brooklyn is on her way.
Brooklyn finds Ryan at the cabin and panics. She has had a crush on him since she was eighteen. Now he was here and she was stranded at the cabin with him. What will he think of her now. After all, he rejected her eighteen years ago.
Love Storm Loved the cover and the summary of the book. Starts out with Brooklyn and she's just arriving at her sister and brother in law's cabin in the CO mountains. Problem is the BIL also told his football friend Ryan that he could stay there for a few weeks while his house is being repaired and he's recovering from a head injury. They appear to get along well and have much to talk about as they've not seen one another in 4 years time. It's rather predictable, you know they will get together in the end. Like the area and learning about the surroundings. They have fun with the snow outside and fun bantering with one another...hot tub scenes...and then she reveals a special secret to him, will it matter though? Hot firey steamy sex and thoughts...good short read, just the 2 characters along with others in phone calls.
Brooklyn was eighteen and had a crush on Ryan who was older and a friend of her brother-in-law. Ryan has been warned 'hands off' and well as the rest of their football team mates. Four years later, Brooklyn was heading up to her sister and brother-in-law's cabin in the mountains above Denver. What she didn't know was that Ryan was already at the cabin recovering from a concussion and was on the injured list for a month. As she pulled up to the cabin she checked her phone to find a message from her sister letting her know. It was too late to turn around because there was a storm and snow had been falling for quite a while. So she decided to head into the cabin and hope Ryan wasn't there yet. If he was there, what was she going to do? Would she still feel something for Ryan?
Hooked immediately! Hot, passionate, sexy, a great plot that readers will easily resonate with. This story keeps on giving & keeps on loving. Sexual rather than erotic, you feel the embarrassment, hope, flirtation, the what will be will be attitude disguising the want from start to finish & a finish you hope for a happy ending. A definite 5 star for me. Hopeless romance - tick
I took a risk on this book since it was free on Amazon and by an author I had never read before. Overall, I think it was exactly what it was trying to be - an enjoyable way to pass a few hours. The characters are familiar, the plot is predictable, and the writing isn't challenging. It is brain candy and meant to be enjoyed for what it is.
I found the writing lacking. Basically no character development at all and the author managed to confuse me a couple of times. Better not get me started on the "condom" thing. Seriously, there are things an author should tell you right away, not five pages later after you felt like the author thinks you are dumb... Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends.
Characters not richly developed, cute story, however very predictable. The description of the scene allowed the reader to capture the surroundings, but the characters were mostly skin deep at best.
For a short book (which i usually don't really like) i was a big fan of this one. the story pace moved well, the back story was explained, and their was a short epilogue so it covered all the main details. Highly impressed.
Patient with me to come back from the publisher of a week and I will get it was the first place in the world and I have no choice for the true story is not a lot of time and effort to get a week ago when the market was a little
This was an amazingly sweet snow drenched romance story about an NFL player and a girl with some interesting history getting stuck in a cabin together and what happens between them is fantasy worthy.
This story seems rushed and incomplete. It had the potential to be something great, but there were too many awkward narrations and dialogue to do it justice. Overall, a great idea told through poor execution.
