The perfect snuggletime book and an ideal firsrt read-aloud book, this addition to the popular Baby Faces series has appealing photos of multicultural babies and toddlers, and a brief, rhyming text.
I'm not the biggest fan of this book, but my toddler is! He will dig through a pile of books to find this one and bring it to me for him to read. It's short and sweet, so it's easy to recite this book during snuggle times or diaper change times - whenever you like giving hugs and kisses to your little one. The pictures represent men and women of all different cultures engaging with their babies.
Oh we both rate this one 5 stars as it always elicits laughter and smiles and of course hugs and kisses. Lillian loves the kiss on her belly and the kiss on her feet and claps at the end. I hope she never gets tired of hugging me.
My daughter picked this board book out as her summer reading prize from the library since she's going through a babies-are-so-cute phase, so she def enjoyed it!
Jack borrowed this book from the Ashland Public Library.
He loves any books with photographs of real kids, and this is no exception. He smiles so big at all the hugs and kisses, especially when I kiss his cheek or hug him like in the book.
Personally, I find the photos a little weird and off putting, but the words are sweet.
Update: Jack has started now wanting me to kiss him during the kiss pages and hugging me during the hug pages, so naturally, this is now a five-star read and probably my favorite book of the year. Lol
Ordered this because my son's at an age where he likes looking at pictures of other babies. I was a little disappointed with the photos. Some seem overly staged, and they could all stand to be brighter. I was surprised to see this was published in 2002 -- the photos look more 80s. Still, they're large photos and depict babies and moms of a variety of colors (there are even a couple of dads). The text is simple but sweet. My son seems to really enjoy it and even gives me hugs during the hugging parts. A good book for cuddling with baby.
I thought we had seen all the books in this series, so finding this one was a pleasant surprise. It was great to point out the babies to Natalie, but also the hugging and kissing. It was a great excuse to hug and kiss her and got me at least one rare toddler kiss. Natalie liked the picture of the daddy with his baby near the end. That was a nice aspect of the book, a variety in not just the babies, but the adults with them. Though, I thought one picture of a mom kissing her baby's cheek shouldn't have made the cut.
This book is pretty simple and easy to follow through, it talks about affection and relationships between caregivers/parents. The book is made out of hard material for children that like to put things in their mouths, this book would be an introduction book for infant to invite them to the world of reading. I like it because it is simple and understanding for infants. The pictures demonstrate a joyful vibe children can pick up from. The reactions from children would be positive.
This books is perfect for my newborn daughter who showed interest in it at 1 month old. My newborn boy is not so interested in the pictures, but when I orally tell the story and kiss his feet, tummy and cheeks, he reacts positively as does she. It will be fun to continue to read this and tell this until they are old enough to read it themselves. And it would be a fun book to create with your own family pictures too!
I loved reading and doing the actions of this board book with my infant and he responded to each and every hug and kiss. The photographs of the children are beautiful and paired well with each action.
Another great book in this series. My 17 month old daughter enjoys the photographs of babies and she loves when we act out the words (kiss the tummy, kiss the feet, kiss on the cheek, etc.). We borrowed it from the library, but she loves it so much we might have to buy our own copy.
Another favorite from the Baby Faces series. It's hard to go wrong with pictures of babies. This is perfect for my 17-18 month old toddler since she's just starting the stage of more kissing and hugging. Not too many words per page for this age either.
Straightforward simple text, broad range of babies/families represented. Pictures feel dated though that doesn't stop 11mo old from being drawn to look at them.
