After her grandfather's death, mounting debts force Annie Crawford to sell her inheritance to uphold her family's honor and avoid bankruptcy. Financial stability comes with an even higher price: her heritage. She must rebuild her legacy from nothing.
Purchasing Annie's property means three things to Luke Maxwell: financial burden on Maxwell Development, opportunity to propel his career to the top by developing the old ghost town, and, ultimately, approval to take over his father's company. All of which take precedence over his attraction to the pretty seller.
While touring the property, Annie and Luke are whisked back in time to the 1891 mining community. Together, they endure antiquated hardships and turn to each other for familiarity. Comfort soon becomes passion. As they face a lifetime in the wrong century, Annie and Luke discover a predestined responsibility to the future. Can the love they've propagated in the past take root in the present?

If you like romance and time travel woven together, this book is for you! Annie Crawford is emotionally invested in the land where the town of White Rock once stood, a mining community her ancestors helped build. Fire destroyed White Rock in the late nineteenth century and, although it was never rebuilt, the vacant ground has always held a special place in her heart.
When her grandfather dies and she is left with unexpected debt, Annie is forced to sell the land to Luke Maxwell who plans to bulldoze the ground and put up condos. These two are polar opposites—a rich developer focused on progress and expansion, and a down-to-earth woman who desires to preserve memories of the past. When the two are involved in a lightning-strike that transports them backward in time to 1891 White Rock, they learn they have more in common than they originally thought.
I was particularly smitten the charm of nineteen century White Rock and, especially, Annie’s ancestors. The end of the book brings even more surprises and the ending is satisfying with all of the plot lines woven together. I will be looking for more from this author!
This story feels so real. It doesn't read like a time travel fairy tale romance; the characters are much more than just a romance and I just loved it. I started reading this as a free read from Amazon and could not stop reading...so I reviewed it on Amazon and here.
I would really like to read more books with that mysterious Nez Perce shaman in them...Please!
A cute little time travel novel. I found myself rooting for the two characters to get together in the past, but was surprised by their problems when they finally have the chance to be together. This has some great twists the will keep you guessing.
I liked the sound of this, but found it a little...dull :-(
I didn't really feel any chemistry between Luke and Annie, either in the past or the present. I did enjoy their time in the past, meeting the other characters, but found it odd how accepting the townsfolk were of two strangers arriving out of the blue. Also given they arrived with nothing except their clothes how on earth did Luke get to be in the position he did, he seemed to be pretty much what he was in the present, some kind of wealthy building contractor.
I quite enjoyed the double twist at the end, but the shaman was a bit of an oddity - came in, did a couple of mysterious things and disappeared. I felt his presence very weird, as if he was brought in for a sole purpose and I hate that kind of ploy in a story. I did wonder too, where did Luke disappear to when he went to search for him and was missing? No-one, not even Annie, seemed to wonder where he'd been.
Its an interesting premise but lack of real emotion, and too many oddities for me to rate higher than a three, OK read but not one to keep.
Stars: Three, barely. An interesting idea but one that didn't hold me for long.

I got this book for free on my Kindle, and I have to say, for a free book it's really good. I mean, it's actually a decent book, free or not. You can't always say that. Annie Crawford was forced by circumstance to sell a ghost town that had been in her family for generations, and she meets the developer and new owner, Luke Maxwell, there to look over his plans for the land. But something strange happens to the two of them while they are there, and next thing they know, the wake up in 1891. Why are they there? Are they ever going to get home? As Luke and Annie try to figure out what's happening to them, they of course fall in love. It was an interesting story, and I liked seeing the ghost town come to life, and how life was compared to modern life. It was a nice mixture of modern and rustic. But what bothered me in the first half or so of the book was Annie. She was prideful and stubborn to the point of being stupid. I mean, if it walks like a duck, looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it's a duck! I understand her confusion, and not wanting to believe in time travel, but she acted like a moron for far too long for my tastes. But it didn't last forever, and the story ended up being pretty good.
I do not usually read time travel. This one is not your typical medieval time travel though. Nope, Annie and Luke travel back to the late 1800's to a small town in Idaho. It's small town now and then. This story had everything I love, suspense, romance, and intrigue. It's has a good lesson also, but you'll have to read it to find out what it is. But be careful, once you pick it up you won't want to put it down. Well done Ms. Fletcher!
This story was extremely compelling. The time travel element works well and is directly correlated to the romance. The relationship between a woman struggling financially and a rich real estate developer could've felt contrived, but the author uses their time in the past to connect them believably.
I definitely recommend this book to fans of historicals, romance, and time travel. You won't be disappointed!
