From New York Times bestselling author Julia Kent comes the second in the Her Billionaires series... SHE DREW A LINE WITH A ONE NIGHT STAND When Laura Michaels got one hot firefighter pinging her for a date after joining a popular online dating service, she thought she had won the lottery. A night with Dylan Stanwyck, professional (firefighting) hunk and former model, had been too much. Fearful her curves would turn him off like so many other guys, her pleasant surprise turned to white-hot passion as she broke her own rule and slept with him on the first date. That turned to regret when she awoke in the wee hours of the morning and found pictures of a hot, buff surfer-type woman with Dylan plastered all over his bedroom. Taking the hint, she made the walk of shame home, deleted him from her contacts and chalked it up to experience. To her shock, within hours a new guy - Mike Pine, a ski instructor and marathon runner with a body and face like an actor in a superhero movie - messaged her and asked her out. Lightning struck twice in 24 hours! Laura was incredulous but, emboldened by encouragement from her best friend, Josie, she took the plunge and accepted the date. HE WANTS TO BE LOVED ON HIS OWN Mike likes simple things. Skiing. Running. Being outside. Uncomplicated love. Good food. For nearly ten years he, Dylan and Jill had a simple love that was achingly easy on the inside, and oh, so complicated from the outside. It worked, though, and made him whole - until Jill's lymphoma diagnosis and her early death. What he and Dylan had never expected was what came more than a year after Jill's an inheritance. From her family's trust fund. More than $1 billion each, with a perpetual income that made everything go from simple to chaotic. What Laura doesn't know is that Dylan and Mike are roommates. More than roommates. And they are looking for a third in their relationship. More than a third...but Mike has something to prove, first, and snagging this first date with her is just the beginning. This title is published by Prosaic Press and is distributed worldwide by Untreed Reads.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julia Kent writes romantic comedy with an edge. Since 2013, she has sold more than 2 million books, with 5 New York Times bestsellers and more than 21 appearances on the USA Today bestseller list. Her books have been translated into French, German, and Italian, with more titles releasing in the future.
From billionaires to BBWs to new adult rock stars, Julia finds a sensual, goofy joy in every contemporary romance she writes. Unlike Shannon from Shopping for a Billionaire, she did not meet her husband after dropping her phone in a men's room toilet (and he isn't a billionaire in a rom com).
She also writes romantic suspense as Meli Raine, sexy shifter romances as DJ Jennings, billionaire shifters as half of the author team Diana Seere, and co-authors with Elisa Reed.
She lives in New England with her husband and three children in a household where she is the only person with the gene required to change empty toilet paper rolls.
I’ll start with a disclaimer. This story is actually more of a two star rating than a three. However, it was such an improvement upon the first story that I decided to give it a three star rating by way of well done.
Why did I read this one if I hated the first so much? Other than being a masochist when it comes to my reading habits, the entire collection was free on Amazon and I thought ‘what the hell I may as well find out how it ends’. Thus, I found myself with the rest of the series on my Kindle despite having disliked the first one so much.
I’m glad I carried on, though, if only to see that the first book in the series was not representative of the entire collection. I have not finished the entire collection yet, but if they’re all to the standard of the second book then it will be a great improvement upon the first book.
Unfortunately, you cannot skip to this one – you have to go back and suffer the first book before you can enjoy (I use the word vaguely) book two.
Although I like where this is going, I'm still not clear on Dylan and Mike's relationship with each other. I also have an issue with the fact that Jill was their soul mate and it feels like Laura is a consolation prize. That they still haven't gotten over the loss of Jill in order to find new love with Laura.
I don't like that Mike is being sneaky. I get that he wants to feel like the big guy, but but I don't like how he's going about it with both Dylan and Laura.
Laura is still heartbroken about Dylan’s cheating ways.
So she sets up a date with the hot ski instructor Mike.
Mike is sick of being second best when it comes to Dylan. Yes Mike loves Dylan He also loved Jill Yes he loved his life with Dylan and Jill, and technically Jill was Dylan’s girlfriend first before they became 3. He misses Jill but he wants to show that he can get the girl too.
Yes, technically Dylan found Laura online.
But he wants her to like him for him. Not his money. Not their lifestyle
Just him.
Hence he decides to start “wooing” her on his own without Dylan knowing.
And WOW! Does he bring the WOO!
Laura is a total whore! And I love it! The big beauty gets it on with both men in the space of 48 hours..
I mean yes this is ménage story so you know they are going to get together, but Mike and Dylan are complete opposites, in every way. And I LOVE IT!
Laura’s best friend , Josie calls Mike “Thor” because he looks like Chris Hemsworth *YUM*
This novella ends with Dylan borrowing Mike’s laptop and seeing that Mike is in fact dating Laura too.
Is that why Laura won’t talk to him still? And Mike is teasing him about it all the time?
Dylan is NOT HAPPY!
SO I WAS STRAIGHT ONTO THE NEXT!
Warning!! It is super short! I was only at 70% when it finished. The rest was a sneak peak into the next
You barely get past the halfway mark on your eReader when the story suddenly ends. Yes, the ending is sudden. I don't understand this new trend where one story is split up into several extremely short stories. Is it because authors write half a story and itch to have it published? Or is it so that they can drum up more sold units? Is it about the money? (More units sold cheaper = bigger bottom line)
This one really is only a few pages long, and the rest of the eBook is filled with excerpts of other books. What pissed me off the most, is that I was made to pay for these excerpts.
Now, on to the story... Can I say that Laura is an idiot?? The slightest thing goes wrong, and this bitch is running! And really, that's all I have from this part of the story. (It was THAT short)
Book 1: 3 stars I purchased on KU a copy of the steamy multibook complete novel Her Billionaire which is divided into the smaller novellas Her First Billionaire, Her Second Billionaire, Her Two Billionaires, and Her Two Billionaires and a Baby by Julie Kent and this review was given freely. Not my usual fare as this is ultimately a highly descriptive menage romance with one steamy scene after another but the story is interesting, easy flowing and told in a flirty over the top way and has closely linked characters. Curvy 29 year old financial analyst Laura Michaels laments her single life and the shallowness of men until her friend Josie creates for her an online profile which peaks the interest of two seemingly opposite but equally athletic men { Firefighting, competitive weightlifting, triathlete Dylan Stanwyck and triathlete ski resort owner Mike Pine} who just happen to be roommates, competitive, grieving over the recent loss of their life partner Jill and newly made billionaires. Lies of omission and misunderstandings provide for a rocky romance with multiple breakups only to have them reunite again after a tragic fire. Contains the portion of the story from Laura's meeting Dylan and Mike to their reunion with a 5 month pregnant Laura.
* Her First Billionaire contains the roller coaster of emotions Laura Michaels and Dylan Stanwyck experience as their instant attraction leads to more but ends poignantly with a misunderstanding. 18+ recommended for vivid intimate scenes .
*Her Second Billionaire is a bit repetitive in thoughts and emotions containing Laura's angst with Dylan, her moving beyond her semisedentary comfort zone to start another instant attraction romance with Mike Pine the day after her date with Dylan, and Dylan's frustration with Laura's silence . 18+ recommended for vivid intimate scenes.
*Her two Billionaires is a fast paced segment of doubts, frustration, jealousy and steamy scenes as Josie tries help Laura find peace and Laura tries to handle the emotions caused by Dylan and Mike suddenly springing their relationship on her in Mike's cabin. 18+ recommended for vivid intimate scenes.
*Her Two Billionaires and a Baby is the longest of this four part story highlighting the rocky romance and break ups of the threesome who finally reunite after a tragic fire where the men learn of Laura's pregnancy. 18+ recommended for vivid intimate scenes.
Book 2: It's Complicated 3 stars I purchased on KU a copy of the steamy novel It's Complicated: Her Billionaires book 2 by Julie Kent and this review was given freely. A story of finding love, trust, and stability despite a dysfunctional family combined with a steamy instant attraction romance with a preference for outdoors. A good story but vivid at times over the top descriptions and unfiltered scenes may not be for everyone. Carrying the name of one of Dylan's standard phrases this novel depicts Laura and Josie's close friendship becoming more distant as Laura's family takes up her time, Josie receiving the dubious honor of the only one to know the baby's paternity, the potential job of running a menage based dating service is brought up, as well as an emotional and at times humorous rendition of giving birth combined with Josie's steamy budding romance with OB resident Dr.Alex Derjian. Can be read as a standalone as it contains recaps from the four preceding sections but is best if read in order. I skimmed over most of the vivid intimate scenes. 18+ recommended for vivid intimate scenes.
Book 3: Completely Complicated: The wedding containing the novellas Complete Abandon, Complete Harmony, Complete Bliss and Complete We. 3 stars I purchased on KU a copy of the steamy novel Completely Complicated: Her Billionaires book 2 by Julie Kent and this review was given freely. This is the rocky romance of Alex and Josie with a heavy emphasis on Josie's dysfunctional family, her cousin Darla's moving to Boston with her two male band partners Trevor and Joe but also weaves in an update on the sleep deprived parents Laura, Mike and Dylan. I skimmed over most of the vivid intimate scenes. 18+ recommended for vivid intimate scenes
Book 4: Always Complicated 4 stars I purchased on KU a copy of the steamy novel Always Completely Complicated: Her Billionaires book 4 by Julie Kent and this review was given freely. Jumping four years into the future this is emotional, stress filled and at times suspenseful, we are shifted from Boston to the reunion of dysfunctional family members in a Maine campground where another rich threesome are in the owner's family and, best friends Laura and Josie plan to marry their men but life events and doubts interfere. I skimmed over most of the vivid intimate scenes. 18+ recommended for vivid intimate scenes
After the disaster of an amazing first date with Dylan, Laura is nursing her hurt. But things get interesting when mere hours after that date she pinged with another request for a hiking date by Mike.
Dylan and Mike are best friends but Laura does not know that. She also does not know they are billionaires and they are partners looking for the perfect third in their relationship.
Mike wants her every bit as much as Dylan but, he wants her for himself for a while to see if they will connect. In being in a complicated relationship before he felt like an add-on. Now he wants to feel like an equal.
But there are consequences to keeping secrets from his best friend and even more for keeping them from Laura.
This is not my favorite episode. I loved that we get to see more of the author’s trademark humor in action, but all the deception and sneaking around that Mike and Laura are doing left me feeling more than a little squicky. It was interesting to see that Laura and Josie had taken words that are usually thrown at women in a derogatory way and embraced them as badges of honor, but I was uncomfortable with the usage of those words. Considering the way this episode ends, I’m very curious to see what’s next.
When Thor sweeps you off your feet! Putting Dylan's date behind her, Laura meets Mike from the same date site... a steamy-as-hell-Thor-look-alike skiing instructor. He manages to woo the pants off of her... literally and figuratively!!! But what happens when Dylan pops back into the picture... as a triad? Yeah... you can close your gaping mouth now... or not! Read it and keep a change of panties handy! 4 Blazing Stars for "Her Second Billionaire".
4.5 stars!! This series is actually really good!! After Laura's failed relationship she decides it's finally time to get back into dating by hitting an online site .... Dylan and Matt have both had a 10 year relationship with Jill but she died so after a while Dylan decides to get them on a dating site to find the right woman to complete them ..... the story is quite good and totally m/f/m!!!
In her Second Billionaire Laura is reeling from her date with Dylan when Mike sends a message. I like that this is a story Julia writes from all points of view because it’s fuller knowing the guys motivation. While I like Dylan, there’s something deeper about Mike and I think Laura sees it too. Funny, hot and hopeful is how I felt reading this; and still wanting more.
Don't know if it's just me, but Dylan and Mike still don't seem ready to move onto another relationship after Jill. They're still grappling with their sudden, overwhelming wealth, Jill's death, and Laura just seems like a pick-me-up even though I'm sure she's supposed to be their new love. This one also ended rather abruptly; I'm not sure why this series is divided into long chapters.
I wasn't a fan of this one...or two. I do find it funny the picture on the cover. I mean, Laura is a plus sized girl, yet, the author chose to have some thin woman instead?
What exactly was that part at the beginning BEFORE the actual story? At first I thought that maybe this story was a part 2 or something in a series, and the author was giving us a recap, but it wasn't. This is the first in the series. Yet, the very beginning basically tells a basic fast forward version of who Dylan, Jill and Mike were and what happened to them prior to meeting Laura. IDK, it just seemed kinda weird how the author did that.
The fact the author has the second story in the series after the first, I thought was cool. But then realizing that it was only half the story...Um...yeah. So considering these were both really short stories, the author actually expects a reader to read half of it (30 pages tops) then spend $3 on the rest? Right. Some might do that but not me. Sorry. I never understand how an author can charge the same amount of $$ for a short story as they do for a novel? Whatever.
How could the author have used, "Her First Billionaire," as the title? Considering Laura never even knows about Dylan being rich?
Questions/Comments:
I don't like when author brings up real present day kinda stuff. I know there's a term for it, but my minds a blank right now. For ex: using references to Snooki, or Kim Kardashian, Prince William, etc.
Laura's constantly bringing up her weight issue, which seems strange considering she's supposedly comfortable with her body. I didn't get that.
She seriously thought he was only interested in having sex with her because she was basically available? Really?
Stupid Question...So Dylan tells Laura that he has a 24 the following day or something along those lines. How does she not know what that means? I mean, she seems smart, I guess. I don't know any firefighters personally, but even I knew what he was talking about.
Laura is in the shower. "...the strands stretching long enough to tickle the top of her sacrum." Now, I know Laura isn't a doctor, so why in the world would the author have used the word, 'sacrum'?
How did Dylan and Mike end up together? As far as I know, that was never explained. Technically, only when the three of them (Dylan, Mike and Jill) were explained.
When Laura finds out that Dylan had 'googled her', what exactly was the big deal with that? Just the way the author wrote it, trying to make it sound like something really personal or something, stupid.
Yes, I can't think of all the times I've described food as being 'luscious'. Especially when it's fish. haha
Why does Laura first get scared when her phone vibrates, shouting shit...then again when a window pops up on her computer, shouting ow? Does she startle that easily?
I didn't like the fact that Laura didn't even bother talking to Dylan afterwards. She just automatically blocked him from everything? That was just stupid.
PART 2
So Laura and Mike are planning on meeting up after work. We know from the ending of Part 1, that she had to get up early for work. "So, how about this afternoon. After work? You wanna do lunch...0" Why would he have asked about lunch if she'd be at work? I didn't get that. And who wants to go hiking right after they get off work? Seriously?
I would love for the author to draw a picture of what Laura would look like. I mean she basically meets 2 different guys online, date both in basically the same day, and both are getting raging hard -ons for her...before seeing her fully. I don't get it.
The weird part was her and Mike had been talking, making plans. Suddenly, she's going to shower and masturbate and whatnot. But then, she's on the computer talking to Mike again, saying what was already said before the shower. Huh?
I swear if in the rest of the 2nd story, her and Mike end up making out or having sex while they're hiking....puke!
Laura, A plus size, curvy, analyst, has had a difficult dating history. She (with her BFF's help) joins an online dating service (a last ditch effort in her eyes).
Dylan and his roommate/friend Mike have been trying to get over the death of their longtime girlfriend Jill. Dylan thinks that it's time to find a new person to help them heal. Dylan finds Laura and thinks she is beautiful, and her reference to being in a "Man-witch" makes Dylan think she would be perfect for him and Mike.
Laura feeling betrayed by her exciting date/night with Dylan (thinking he has a wife or girlfriend), had blocked and denied all communication with Dylan.
Mike is tired of being the Beta to Dylan's Alpha, and wants to see if he can make Laura fall for him. He see that she's online and asks her on a date.
This book is about Mike and Laura's Journey, in the steamy love triangle.
This is a short sexy little read, but be prepared to buy the 3 other books in the series. You are left hanging, and wonder what happens next. This really should be combined into one, maybe two books, but I bought all 4 books, so I guess mission accomplished. ALso, one other thing that upset me was the first 3 books all end at 69% (this should be a crime).
Overall, this is a fun sexy read, the first book was free, so give it a try.
So, I accidentally purchased this without realizing I was buying approximately 40 pages. The 80 pages were free from Amazon and I guess I was so involved with the story that I hastily purchased the second.
I do enjoy the story line. I don't enjoy the price. It would cost me more just to finish the story than it would to buy an entire novel from someone else. So this is where I'll leave off in the series. I was so astonished by the price that I almost looked into returning it if Amazon would have let me.
Anyhow, the story starts way in middle of where we left off. So it seems as though we get less story than originally thought. The only thing I can think is that I was reading the sneak peek of the next story which is what happened at the end of this one. Basically, Laura gets a message from Mike the day after she ran out on Dylan. Not only does she keep thinking about Dylan but she also feels like there could be something with Mike. Little does she know that Mike and Dylan are roommates. Mike's playing a dangerous game. During the sneak peek of the next book Dylan finds out and it all comes to a head.
As much as I enjoyed this story and where it may be leading to I simply can't justify the cost. So, I guess if cost is not an issue I'd recommend this one.
Her Billionaires was a typical "can't resist the 0,49€ offer - one-click-buy" read. I should have been less tempted by the price and have read more reviews; consequently Amazon’s mojo wouldn’t have won out. The story is about a cookie-cutter ménage involving a BBW who previously had mostly bad experiences with the male gender due to her pin-up model buxom size 18 body and two average gorgeous hunks made billionaires as they inherited a brick load of money from their late wife/life partner.
Considering some serious spelling mistakes and the rather unimaginative and generic plot, the story's first two instalments turned out ok but underwhelming. What made me discontinue the series ultimately during the third part was the actual “ménage à trois” sex scene itself. Double penetrating a woman with zero anal sex experience and only using two fingers and a splash of lube to prepare her is, well, hurtful to say the least and not at all realistic. Ten years ago these scenes were aplenty in ménage stories, I have less knowledge how this is handled today as I tend to avoid love triangles, but I sincerely hope the genre can do better. DNF
this was short as well but still good. Laura meets Mike on the same dating website that she met Dylan on & is contacted. Just 4 hours after leaving Dylan she makes a date with Mike trying to get on with her life & leave Dylan behind. Mike being an outdoors person they go on a hike up a mountain outside of town. Laura is not at all an exercise person but, goes ahead with the date beings that it's something she wouldn't normally do. Their date goes great so they make set another one up for hiking again, only this time Mike brings along a picnic & the mind set to replace his memories of this spot & his dead girlfriend with new memories of Laura. What Laura doesn't know at the moment is that Mike & Dylan are best friends & that Mike's dead girlfriend is also Dylan's dead girlfriend. Things get moving fast for Mike & Laura but she can't forget Dylan & wishes that things had turned out differently.
I liked the book, a lot! I just get so frustrated with the back and forth and not being honest with each other. It creates too much drama and you wanna smack them! But I guess without that then the books would be boring and I'd be much less happy with them.
I also wish that the relationship between Dylan and Mike was explained or voiced by the two more. I never felt like I had an adequate description of it and so the entire series I wondered in the back of my mind about them. Just a few words could have cleared it up, or some memories so I got a better understanding.
The book was good and I did like it, altho it doesn't sound like it from my review! Pay me no attention, I guess I'm woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning!
Okay, so I admit I love this one more than Her First Billionaire, maybe because I prefer a guy like Mike over Dylan. He was just a sweetheart (biased opinion), all calm and kind and hot. (Told ya I'm biased.)
The story picks up as soon as Her First Billionaire ended, which is, admittedly, too soon for Laura to pick up another billionaire (that lucky girl). With Mike though, everything is more romantic and sweet. Not that I'm saying that Dulan isn't romantic, he was more into primal instinct and all rough and impatient. It also seemed like Laura prefers Mike as well, despite how Dylan refused to leave her mind.
All in all, Her Second Billionaire a good, smexy novella. 5 stars for this one.
First novella was all about Dylan and the second was all about Mike. How quiet and trusty Mike became the best guy Laura could ever hope for. Mike was tired of getting second helpings from woman Dylan hoked up, so he decided to go after Laura on his own and discover if she could want him for who he is and outside of a threesome relationship.
It was actually really nice meeting him and discovering his fears and the way he handles things but I didn't like the fact he went behind Dylan's back and started dating Laura without telling him, after knowing Dylan was crazing trying to find out why Laura had blocked him.
I'm not really sure why these tow guys were in this menage. I never felt any connection between the two of them. In fact the author goes out of her way to make sure we know they are not gay or even bi. In fact they never touch each other. No bro hugs no nothing and this doesn't work for me. For me to believe the relationship between the three of them, I needed some sort of emotional connection between the two men.
I also do not like Laura's friend, Josie. She is a nosy bitch and most of the time I don't feel she is a true friend.
I actually liked this one better than the first one but that's because I like the male lead in this part of the story more - the strong, silent, marathon runner type is, apparently, sexy. Draws you in to read the next. I would give this a 4.4 of 5 ... really I'd go with a 4.5 but then I'd feel obliged to bump it up to 5and it's not so good that I love it ... I just really like it. Good thing: It cost $0.99 on Amazon, so it's not too steep of a price for the story you get.
What a follow up! I immediately purchased this after reading the first sample. This lady knows how to write to keep you buying. The best friend/lover coming in and swooping in on the potential girlfriend/wife material was ingenious. To have him not be up front about it and then end the story with the friend finding out about this separate relationship to leave us panting for the 3rd or 4th installment? Man, this is getting good!
OK, now i'm really jealous :)) This girl is so lucky! How can you get the big prize by dating two gorgeus men in two days? And having orgasm after orgasm after orgasm? Even from a kiss? This is surreal. But as i said in the review of book no 1, I apreciate that it makes me laugh a lot and everything that happens is so twisted and out of this world ... It's a good series and I don't regret buying it.
This series is like a mini-series. Each book gives you a part of the story but not the whole tale. These books DO NOT stand alone. Reading them out of order will likely leave you with a lot of holes that aren't filled.
This is a fun set of episodes that tell the tale of a girl meeting a great guy, then another and building relationships. Mistakes are made, apologised for and forgiven and lesson learned. All in all it's a cute story.
I didn't think there would be a real "story" here but I was drawn to the story of Mike, Dylan and Jill and despite the fact I don't really agree with a "tiresome" I found that the s e two men were very much in love Jill. then there's Laura. lookin for love Laura. could she really be fa lling for two men. I can't wait to read the next book what will happen when she realizes these two men not only live together, love together and they are billionaires.
