One hundred and fifty years ago, Warrior Jovan of the Six Saviors realized he had a gift: the ability to feel emotions through touch. Over the years, the gift has intensified allowing him to hear others thoughts, and this uncontrolled skill has forced him to keep his distance from both humans and those of his race. He fears the impact on his sanity if he doesn’t.

Liberty, an SR44 female has come to Earth by a set of circumstances beyond her control. Born into a life of servitude on SR44, she is alone, afraid, and stumbling her way through learning the customs and language of her new home on Earth. When Jovan meets Liberty, it becomes clear that they are of the same species, and Jovan takes Liberty under his wing, despite his commitment to himself to limit interaction with others.

As Liberty reveals the reasons for her coming to Earth, it becomes apparent that the Six Saviors are in danger, not only from the FBI, but also from those who have journeyed to Earth with Liberty, and they are seeking revenge. Jovan must quickly learn to control his gift, and Liberty is the only one who can help him. As they deal with danger from all sides, Jovan and Liberty must find a way to compromise on the lives they desire, or they will be forced to go their separate ways.

REVIEW:
Background: 6 saviors warriors from planet SR44: Rayner, Hudson, Noah, Cohen, Jovan & Talin. The warriors were sent to earth 212 years ago to stop and eradicate the 12 murderers who escaped from one of the moon colonies of planet SR44. The Colonists, as they were soon called, made their way to Earth, took the human body form, mated with the females and populated the earth with Colonist DNA. The savior warriors are part of the elite military from planet SR44, commissioned to remove the Colonists from Earth. The beings on planet SR44 are incorporeal bodies of mist and smoke, each bearing a different color, but in their corporeal bodies on Earth, their eyes will glow their familiar- planet SR44 color each evening. This is Jovan’s story and his eyes are emerald green.

I love the Six Savior series by Carly Fall. Early last year I won a copy of Carly’s second storyline in her Six Savior series-Finding My Faith-and I have been a big fan ever since. Destiny’s Shift introduces several more beings from planet SR44 and one in particular will bring about a change in Jovan that he never thought possible. Carly has brought together more of the inhabitants from planet SR44 and not everyone is happy under the circumstances. With their introduction into the stories, Carly opens up a much larger field of potential storylines and relationship scenarios.

Jovan and Liberty’s relationship follows the usual romance storyline premise. Jovan was a reluctant SR44 male who wanted nothing to do with looking after a mate, especially one that came with baggage in the form of an over-protective big brother, but Jovan’s attraction to Liberty could not be denied. Even many of the other members of the communal household saw the attraction between the couple before anyone involved was willing to admit there was something between the pair. And Liberty as naïve and innocent as she was, soon learned what it was she wanted and she wanted Jovan. And apparently Liberty has a thing for leather.

Carly adds another familiar face to the storyline-an overzealous FBI agent who knows more about the Warriors than anyone thought. When he reveals the information about the missing SR44 beings, the Warriors are forced to bring this stranger into their fold, and in doing so another potential storyline for one of the beings from planet SR44.

The Six Savior series and Destiny’s Shift by Carly Fall is a well-written and fascinating storyline and, one that brings a tear or two to my eyes every time-and Destiny’s Shift is no exception. My heart broke for a couple of the Saviors when they ‘lose their everything’ and you can almost feel the anguish of Jovan’s gift whenever he is in proximity of those suffering and in pain. Carly has written an amazing series of characters with whom I have fallen in love and I know you will too

I've been an avid follower of the Six Saviors series since being introduced to it last year. I've eagerly anticipated the release of each book and it's story of each unique SR44 savior. Jovan intrigued me in book 3, as we got a little glimpse of the pain he endures by having to feel and experience the emotions of others. Imagine having to avoid being touched, accuse you can feel whatever pain, anger, despair, sadness that someone else feels. It's a lonely existence, but Jovan would rather be alone then endure such torture.

Of course we have a heroine who is more than up to the task of taking Jovan and his problems on. Liberty might be sweet and innocent, but she has a quiet strength that develops throughout the book, and makes for a likeable character to read about. The best part about her is that she's one of them! This is what I like best about this book. By adding in a fresh cast of characters from SR44, the story of the Six Saviors goes to a deeper level. Now, Jovan's problem is not like the other three Saviors before him. There is no worry of him falling in love with a human woman and losing his SR44 form. In this case, it's about him opening up to Liberty by allowing her to help him learn to control his gift and learn how to shrug off his 'loner' state of living. Jovan learns a valuable lesson about the value of relationships and comes to see that he needs the others in his life more he thought.

I also love the added element of danger now that the FBI has gotten involved and gotten wind of the existence of aliens on earth. Now, not only do the Saviors have Colonists to deal with, there is the issue of the FBI, as well as another group of SR44 males that have less than honorable intentions. At the risk of giving too much away, I'll stop there, but suffice it to say that you won't get bored reading this action-packed story! Jovan truly shines and holds his own as one of the Saviors and doesn't fail to deliver when it comes to macho heroics. And as if the action weren't enough, the chemistry between Jovan and Liberty is sweet and steamy all at once. Liberty's innocence is cute in a way that's not annoying and her curiosity about Jovan, and human relationships leaves a lot of room for comedy, as well as some very tender moments. By the end, though, Jovan helps her discover her true sex kitten, so she doesn't stay innocent for long!

Just like the last story, this one's left me ready for more of the Six Saviors. Now that there are more people living in the Silo...I won't say who or how many....it looks like we might have potential for a love triangle on our hands and I am loving that! Based on the things that happened in this book, things will be hard for our last two Saviors. They had a hard time in this book, and the consequences of that will be painful to read. But I, for one, love the idea of watching Cohen and Talin come back from the depths they've fallen into in this book. I. Can't. Wait. For. More!!!!!

I was asked to review this book, really knowing little to nothing of the series, yet I was able to grasp the current storyline without difficulty, and it did increase my interest in reading the other stories. I do think, however, that I would have liked to know the other saviors as well as I came to know Jovan in this series.

Jovan is beautifully developed, his particular talent is empathy, which has him feeling all the joys and pains of those he encounters. Not a surprise to find him more comfortable living alone and isolated than thrust into the maelstrom of emotional pain that others bring. There is a core of determination and honesty in Jovan that is just attractive.

Liberty is an intriguing character, innocent yet very strong and possessed of a willingness to share and help Jovan control his gifts, their relationship is quite interesting to watch. As they got closer, their story and relationship went to steam-powered, and I appreciate the subtle change in his attitude toward ‘partnership’ that Jovan was able to accept and start to integrate into his personality now that he has discovered the pleasant side of contact with others from being with Liberty.

And there is danger aplenty, with the FBI not particularly happy about the existence of aliens on the planet – which could threaten the protection that the saviors provide humans. Additionally, there are other SR-44 natives who have less than honorable intentions, and we all know that governments are not always able to determine good from bad when all they hear is alien.

There are some heartbreaking moments, even to a reader not familiar with the entire story: but for the most part, this was enjoyable and fun to read with only a few references leaving me puzzled. I do think that it would be best to read all of the books in order – but I’m certainly intrigued enough to add the others in this series to my tbr pleasure pile.

I received an eBook from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I was so excited to have the chance to be a part of Carly Fall's book tour for the latest in the Six Savior series, see at the end of 2011 or beginning of 2012 I won a copy of The Light Within Me in a blog hop. I have to admit I am a closet sci-fi romance geek and I fell in love with the six sexy aliens here from SR44.

With the gift of empathy Jovan is finding it harder to be around people including the other men on his team and there mates. Liberty is part of a group of refugees from SR44, when Jovan steps into help prevent Liberty from being assaulted he finds that he feels the need to protect her and takes her in.

I love the way that Ms. Fall has created a world where aliens are responsible for protecting us from escaped criminals from their world and that those criminals are some of the worst men in history (Saddam Hussein, Jeffrey Dahmer, ect...) The six saviors as they were dubbed at the beginning of their mission are sexy warriors that kick butt and have hearts of gold. These men are uber alpha males, Jovan is no different he finds when he starts to fall for Liberty. I loved seeing Liberty's self confidence bloom so that she was willing to go for what she wants and stand up for herself.

The sexual tension is ratcheted up when it is revealed that Liberty is Noah's half sister and Jovan has to decide if it is worth the risk of upsetting Noah.
Love this book, love the series, I can't wait to see what happens next.

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

And now we have Jovan and Liberty's story. Turns out there are more that escaped from SR44 and Liberty is one of them. When their ship crash landed on Earth, Liberty made her escape before the Men in Black could pick her up.
She is rescued by Jovan whose gift is feeling the emotions of others. This is very hard on him and he keeps to himself quite a bit. But it turns out Liberty who is also the younger sister of Noah, has the same ability and is able to help Jovan.

I love Liberty is this book. Considering how tough her life has been to this point, she's wonderfully optimistic and appreciative of all the good things happening to her.

Review
I was all "yippee," when I was offered a chance to read and review Destiny's Shift by Carly Fall. I'm a Science Fiction and Paranormal kind of gal, so I always get a wee bit excited when given the opportunity to try a new book in those genres. Destiny's Shift was, in fact, a really good read. I was hesitant at first, noting that this was the fifth book of a six book series. The Series is called the Six Savior, and the reading order can be found by clicking here. But I was assured that it was a standalone book.
Well, this is where one of my pet peeves about series comes in. I really hate to start something from the middle in any series, standalone or not. I just feel completely detached from the characters and the story line when I read out of order. I feel lost and confused. But, I gave it a go, and I'm really glad I did.
Having read the synopsis above I don't really want to reveal too much of the story and give away any spoilers. However, I will comment on my impression of the storyline and the endearing qualities of the leading characters.
Remember in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home where they go back in time to the year 1986? They had to return because this big, black shaped water heater was cruising along in space in the year 2286 threatening to destroy the Earth by disabling global power and blocking out the sun along with it. So the crew comes back, and they find themselves at a loss, desperate to fit in so they can steal George and Gracie. The water heater only knows how to speak in whale for all you non-trekkers out there. The crew walks around not knowing how to act or how to survive.
Well, reading this book gave me the same feeling I had when I first saw that movie.
Liberty is as cute as a button. Despite her innocence in all that is Earth related and the tragic circumstances befalling her, she remains buoyant and optimistic. Liberty confesses her reasons for coming to Earth to the Six Saviors, and like a child, entrusts them wholeheartedly to fix all of her problems. Jovan first finds her surviving on tacos and waitressing at a strip club dressed in a French maid's outfit and living with a drug addict who thinks she's an angel. She's elated when Jovan introduces her to macaroni and cheese, which quickly becomes her favorite gourmet dinner.
It was excerpts like these that quickly turned me onto the book.
It was funny, straightforward, and innocent, just like Liberty. A servant in her home world, the idea of equality was foreign to her, and it took time for Liberty to get used to this concept. Jovan, dominant and alpha to her submissive nature, helps her to adjust. Although there is a strong attraction, Jovan is hesitant to start a relationship, being the Lone Wolf that he is. Add to the fact Liberty just arrived on Earth, and he feels that she is much too innocent to even be thinking of her in a sexual nature. But Liberty is not a child, nor is she a nun. As things become dangerous and chaotic (while there are threats surrounding the Six Saviors and their mates), Liberty can't help but ask what The Sex is. She feels sick every time she is around Jovan and wonders if this attraction is what is ailing her.

This was an enjoyable read, and I am thankful for having the opportunity of reviewing it. Author, Carly Fall can be found here on her blog.

I found the tale of the fall of their planet implausible at best. Also, why wouldn't they have sent someone to ask how it was going rather than declaring them dead? I find it unlikely they would have sent mated soldiers on a long dangerous mission in the first place if they do so poorly without their mates. Given that they survived without them for over 200 years and weren't even faithful during that time, their grief on learning they were gone also seems unlikely to be that devastating.

I found it extremely out of character and pulled out of a hat that this born in servitude thing is making a comeback while they are gone, if it has truly been eliminated as a custom for millenia before that. Liberty's whole backstory seems manufactured and forced in order to create conflicts and new stresses in the series.

I did like the story of Jovan and Liberty. I also enjoyed the new character Blake. Unfortunately the above points cost this tale two stars and have dropped the series as a whole in enjoyability.

Pretty in Pink

I enjoyed this next book in the ongoing saga of the Six Warriors from the planet SR44.
In this book , we get to see Jovan's story .
Jovan's is the Warrior that feels everyone's emotions. And now there is another layer that that entails !! He finds it difficult to be around anyone , even his brothers, because their emotions are so overwhelming to him.
Liberty is a woman who seems out of her element. As she leaves from work Jovan notices that a few men are following her.....
That can't be good....
When Jovan's rescues this damsel in distress, he finds out something about her that he NEVER would have guessed.
And both of their lives will never be the same !!
Plenty of action and adventure that kept me interested enough to buy the next book !!!

Carly pens "Destiny's Shift" in a plot that is fascinating and well written. Her characters are extremely interesting. likable and filled with emotions, they make it hard to put the book down. A great addition to the 'Six Saviors Series' and I look forward to the next book. I suggest reading the series in order so you don't miss out on anything.

It is always the quiet one the most surprising! I have to say, Liberty is more than worthy of her name!! I loved her evolution and how she discovered herself.
Jovan has gone through a lot too and really changed thanks to Liberty. He was the least present in the previpus books but I really enjoyed readying about him. A great story and a family that keeps growing.

Fantastic book. Loved finding out more about Jovan and his gift. The new characters introduced are terrific additions. They add extra oomph to a series that was already terrific before.
