Empath Basics

Rate this book
This book talks about the main energy kung fu techniques empaths need to have a happy life:

Shielding: strengthening your aura. A strong aura can break apart undesirable external energies, before they get to your perception areas.

Flushing: moving energy along the chakras from Sky toward Earth. Here you put your own names, depending on your main spiritual beliefs. It is a yin / yang movement.

Grounding: moving energy along the chakras from Earth toward Sky. It is a yang / yin movement.

Balancing: attaining the best possible energy state for your situation.

Cleaning the chakras: to move energy through the meridians, they need to be clean. The chakras are the main pumps along the way; make friends with the concept and keep them clean.

Cutting cords: cords are created every time we emotionally interact with someone. They can become draining points.

Stopping psy-vamp attacks: people have the bad habit of stealing energy from others, instead of creating their own or gathering it from the environment. And we are usually easy targets.

This really is a great little book for understanding what (or who) an empath is, how to shield (and why you should only do so temporarily), the importance of flushing, grounding and replenishing, and other techniques.

I was already familiar with many of the techniques and/or ideas, but it's always useful to try new ones, which may be (a) easier to use, or (b) have a more directly beneficial effect. Maybe even both. ;)

However, for me, the main blessing of this book is that it has clarified much of my personal experience and learning, metaphorically tying a few loose ends together so that I have a clearer, more whole understanding of my energy and how it interacts with the world. New tools to try, a new focus to keep in mind, and hopefully a more balanced energy field. ;)

This book is a must read if you have an empathic nature / physiology. As one who has this talent/curse and spent decades understanding it, there is much value to any and all within these pages. To me this book is true, practical and representative of my life's experience and understanding and I am over 60. It represents a simple window to personal housekeeping that is as essential as a regular shower is to a coal miner. It might not be American Express but if your empathic don't leave home without this.

I don't feel like I learned anything.

This book is so vague that I didn't learn a single thing! The instructions aren't specific enough to make sense of unless you already know what you're doing, in which this is far too simple.

Very helpful Introduction

Some good tips and helpful guidance. Pitfalls to avoid and spiritual practise exercises, one of which is a chakra cleansing and opening meditation.

Quick overview as claimed. Interesting topic with some tips, though for putting them in practice they are a little difficult to understand. Still, it's a decent starting point for reading on empaths.

This book provides a basic overview; a starting point for empaths to begin further research. However, the techniques in this book lack detail. I feel that one would only be able to perform them if they already had an idea of what they were doing. For a "beginners" book, I would suggest a bit more detail and description, as people are not yet trained in these methods and practices.

I would suggest to the author to proofread for grammar/spelling, and omit the use of emoticons (smiley faces) in future books.

This is a well-organized how-to, which is the basis of this review and rating. It doesn't have dense explanations of 'spirituality theory.' It begins with identifying yourself as one who does or doesn't need the techniques, then describes them and what they will do in an economy of style that makes it easy to reference, as the techniques are practiced. If you think you are an empath, or are just curious, this is a good place to start.

This book offered a good introduction to what an empath is and the techniques involved with managing the gift. However, if you don't have much (or any!) experience with chakras, much of it won't make sense without additional investigation. Be prepared for that. Had the book been longer with more expansion into and explanation of the techniques mentioned and how to use them, I would have rated it higher.
