Awesome. I really enjoyed this book as I did the first in the series. Dietz is a skilled author and makes the story easy and fun to follow and visualize. Light hearted and fast paced, excellent read in the military SciFi genre.
Book 2 in the series. Previous history is not necessary to read this one, the author covers previous events to bring the reader up to speed.
The human empire is vast and there is no galactic police force. Instead bounty hunters are relied upon to pursue criminals that escape to other worlds. Sam McCade is retired but is forced out by the navy. It seems the Emperor has died and named his missing son as his heir. The problem is that his daughter is already working on seizing the throne. McCade and his allies have less than 3 months to find the heir. Unfortunately they also have to avoid the assassins guild and the rest of the navy that is being controlled by the usurper.
Parts of the book seemed rushed. Wrapping up some of the 'chase' scenes to go to the next segment were a little forced.
Great "guy-fi" novel about a bounty hunter with a heart trying to save the galaxy. Really enjoyed this 2nd entry in the series and look forward to the next one.
The series seems to basically be a Star Wars knockoff with a few other tropes thrown in to confuse the issue a bit. But it's decent for all that. I'll continue it at some point.
