Encounters with Star People: Untold Stories of American Indians

Rate this book
A noted American Indian researcher offers a collection of intimate narratives of encounters between contemporary American Indians & 'Star People'. The 1st-person accounts, described as conscious experiences & recalled without hypnosis, reveal a worldview that unquestionably accepts the reality of Star People. The stories also reveal cultures that almost universally regard them as ancestors, which allows for interactions that take place without fear & helps explain the uniqueness of the experiences. The stories are told by people from all walks of life. Some had graduate degrees; others never attended school. Some were adept at technology; others had never used a cell phone, owned a computer or a tv. A few of the stories are about events that occurred before the 1947 Roswell incident, however, the majority of the events took place between 1990 & 2010. This book significantly contributes to the knowledge about UFOs from a group that until now have mostly remained silent. Readers will likely never look at the UFO phenomenon in the same way again.

I've read scores of books and articles about the UFO phenomena but none that I'd call charming. This book is charming enough to get around many of the defenses people like myself put up against claims that Earth is being visited by technologically sophisticated extraterrestrial species. If it were a book about ghosts, I'd be turning on all the lights and checking the locks--and I definitely don't believe in ghosts!

The American Indians who provide the thirty-plus accounts are from a variety of nations, but actual identities and locations are concealed, usually at the request of the tellers. That makes this poor phenomenological science as one must take it all on faith, but it works anyway. If you want good phenomenology writers like J.A. Hynek and Stanton Friedman abound.

The "Star People" reference in the title is a trifle misleading. While it is maintained that many Indian nations do believe that their ancestors live in, and occasionally descend from, the skies and while stories of this kind apparently preconditioned some of the experiencers to be less initially frightened than might otherwise have been the case, the experiences recounted here are almost entirely represented as encounters with alien craft and their passengers. This is, in other words, a book about UFOs and some of the closer encounters, not about Indian legends.

I'd recommend this book as a good read to anyone, no matter their opinions about UFOs.

One of my book groups read this and I will say that it sparked a lively discussion. Whether you believe in alien ( star people ) visitors or not, this book is full of intriguing stories told to the author by fellow American Indians. She states more than once that many American Indian cultures are generally more receptive to the idea of UFOs because they believe Star People are their ancestors. To me, some accounts were very convincing, but there were others that were really difficult for me to find credible.

Gran contenido presentado de forma sencilla, sin sensacionalismos. Una mente abierta ayuda a apreciarlo un poco mejor, aunque dada su narrativa y estructura, es recomendable para todo tipo de público :)

Excellent book, very underrated, I barely heard about it, the cases are very credible, and the book is very well written by an academician still it is not pretentious. Really worth reading, the cases fall completely inside the UFO lore. Good work.

I liked this book because it talks about American Indians and Alien encounters. The author talks about known alien interactions that have been in the current literature and applies them to American Indians with personal encounters with anonymity but really good stories about abductions, encounters and experiments and the long history of America Indians and alien encounters. This is a eye opening book about how American Indians have had a long tradition of alien encounters, good and bad. Some aliens are just observers, some are on earth as observers and some are not good, just like people. Very fascinating book.

This is a very interesting book recounting stories of Native Americans who have reportedly had encounters with UFOs and alien life forms. The Native Americans wholly believe they are descended from the "Star People" and have been intermingled with them since the beginning of their being.

Some of the stories are very believable, of course, some sound so off the wall, but if you're interested in this subject it's a very good book.

Fantastic! High-five to the Native Americans for their integrity and revered connection to the Star Family in this book.

It is so refreshing to read the interviews of Natives who do not gain anything from sharing their ET experiences.
I admire their courage in these encounters as some events are quite frightening, and yet these brave man and woman non-violently handled it very well.

The Natives should be our ET-Human Contact Ambassadors for humanity!

I gave this book a three based on the fact that it was kind of disgusting that every interviewee ate food during the interview and that 80% of the interviewees died somehow soon after being interviewed. I had a feeling that most of these stories are fake. If the people describing the events in the book actually existed then I would give it five stars. No way of knowing though so I take it with a grain of salt. Very interesting read

Excellent! It is a brave move for an academic to address forbidden topics such as this. Fascinating and engaging and totally believable. The truth behind it can't be known, of course, but here is an author willing to listen and take seriously what Indians have experienced in a very strange realm. One of the best books I have read on the subject of alien encounters. It smashes the modern mythology that people how see aliens are "fantasy prone" or even "new age believers" - relating the stories of common everyday people doing common everyday things when they find themselves faced with aliens. Wonderful!

Ardy Sixkiller is a consummate storyteller and has
a wonderful way of putting you right beside her on the reservations while she is getting these events recorded....these are wonderful, humble people telling their stories. I now have all 3 of her books and long to read more!

I loved this book. It was such a breath of fresh air, reading about UFO and alien encounters from a completely different point of view, that of the Native Americans. I think this book is an absolute must read for any serious UFO researcher, and for the average UFO buff like me. Great stories.

Well done

Interesting and we'll written. One of my son's in law is Indian and very honest. If these stories were to.d by whites I would be skeptical but Co I got from Indians I believe they are true.

Interesting and astounding on many levels but oh, so repetitive. Weird knowing what each interviewee ate during the interview.
