En faktarik text som går igenom medeltidskyrkan ur ett väldigt brittiskt perspektiv. Fokus ligger på den tidigare halvan av medeltiden - före år 1000 - vilket nog är välbehövligt, för det är faktiskt där många brister. Det väldigt brittiska som jag nämnde är att fokus ligger på det som påverkat norra Europa, undantaget några nedstick i Katarerrörelsen, Hussiterna och Innocentius III reformer; det valet gör att man inte inkluderar spansk spiritualitet, eller italiensk, eller tysk, och det i sin tur gör att verket får en mer organisatoriskt (i motsats till doktrinfokuserad) vinkling.

Jag kan inte säga att boken ger speciellt mycket om man inte är intresserad av medeltida organisationsteori och hur tron förvaltades under den perioden.

This is another of those softcovers I exchanged when, running out of bookshelf space, I decided to divest them to a paperback exchange in Sawyer, Michigan. It was a mistake in this case as there are not many good, easily accessible books about the church in the early middle ages.

This is a great classic which enables one to know about the history of the church... recommended for all.
