Summary
In this volume of the Queen’s Knight we learn about not only the history of Phantasma, but of Reino’s birth and the truth behind the curse of Phantasma! This is the story of Reino! We learn that Reino was born to a powerful witch named Hexe and to nobleman, Reinhart Reino, Lord if Dunkkar. While Reinhart really does fall in love with Hexe, he has no idea that she is a witch, nor that the only reason he has a child is because of a promise to the lord of darkness. Meanwhile, before Reino is born the Queen Freyja (Libera’s direct ancestor) is in love with Reinhart and refuses to let him marry Hexe, even after she becomes pregnant with Reino. While Freyja falls into despair, we learn the true reason that winter is called forth and it has nothing to do with the Queen and everything to do with Reino!!!

Review
I really enjoyed this volume! It was dark, gothic and mysterious. And we finally learn who Reino is! I loved all the scenes with Hexe. Even though she might have an affinity to darkness, I can’t totally believe that she is all evil, when all she ever wanted was a baby to love and to lover her back. Is that really so evil? In fact, even though she makes a pact with some dark force, we learn that she uses all of her magic and strength to protect Reino from falling into evil hands, which is why it is impossible to kill Reino or for him to fall prey to human influences.

While it was so exciting to learn the true cause of the curse of Phantasma and the history of Reini and who he really is, the flashbacks were rather confusing at times and so that’s my only complaint. Other than that, this is probably one of my favorite volumes of the series because it was such a big shock!!!
