book jumped around a bit, but being that the topic was Carole Lombards life it was interesting enough to over look the writing style ;)

Read this in one day so it's an easy read but nothing terribly exciting. I think you need to be a 1930s film buff to truly appreciate it.

"Mr. Wes Gehring, a film comedy specialist, writes with ease and authority about Ms. Lombard's ascent to stardom...[in this] captivating biography."--critic Carl Rollyson, "New York Sun (October 29, 2003).

"Gehring is clearly in love with his subject and details Lombard's life, times and some delicious backstage gossip with a historian's eye and a biographer's appetite for discovery."--"Publisher's Weekly"

"The author has not only given us a fascinating look at the actress and her films, but--more importantly--has written an in-depth study of the private person."--"ForeWord"

SO GOOD. I love Carole Lombard, so I'm biased. Gehring's biography was an all-too-brief examination of an incredible, passionate, full-to-the-brim life. Lombard's intensity and tenacity are communicated clearly, and Gehring touches on almost all of her films, providing context and contemporary reviews. Lombard is a spitfire. I wish she had lived longer, but, for even 33 years, she left behind an enormous legacy that any actor would be proud to emulate.
