DING-LING-LING! Through the hole. Hurry, slip-slide down the pole!
Who are the rescue heroes of Fire Station Number Eight? The Firebears!
Sound the siren, grab the hoses, stretch those ladders. Rescue! With Firebears on the job, no blaze is too big to brave-it's all in a day's work. So put on your fire hat and come for a ride with the fearless rescue crew of Fire Station Number Eight.
Firebears work and wait at Fire Station Number Eight...but not for long! A long-time family favorite, this sweet (but action-packed!) story of first responder bears helps explain a "can be truly scary" job in a way that won't overwhelm the littlest readers, while whole-heartedly celebrating their bravery and the wide variety of things they respond to. The rhyme is fabulous, as well. A delightful read-aloud that kids really respond to and love.
Firefighter bears go on call all day. They slide down the poll to go on a call and receive various calls throughout the day. They get a call to save a cat, then they listen to the radio for more calls and later they go to a fire call. The bears use hoses to put out fires and raise a ladder to help get people out of buildings. They use teamwork to help save people. It is a fun story to read and I find it quite engaging for young readers.
My son picked this one out, it’s probably best for kids 2-4 but he likes fire trucks and it is his library card so who am I to deny his choice? Anyway, it’s a cute read but just very average. Overall, rating 2/5 stars ⭐️ for enjoyability and illustrations.
A story told in rhyme about how the Firebears, the Rescue Team, spend their busy day, saving cats stuck in trees, and fighting fires to keep the town safe.
Most little ones love watching firefighters, and this board book will be right up their alley. In rhyming text, the story follows several bears as they grab their equipment and head downtown to put out fires at a store and at a house in the neighborhood. While they're tired at the end of the day, they are also proud that they have saved the day for a lot of different folks. Bright colors and engaging text plus a topic perfect for youngsters insure that this book won't stay on the shelf for very long. I'd be surprised if it even lands on a book shelf before being scooped up by eager readers.
Maybe I am biaised on the fire truck book, as my son is fire truck crazy! He so wants to be a fire man. In his eyes he is one already! Firebears The Rescue Team is a very cute little rhyming picture book for the younger end of the picture book audience. It shows the fire bears coming down the fireman's pole, zooming down the street to a fire and all sorts of realistic fire man stuff. The illustrations are ever so cute too.
This book is about bears who work at fire station number 8. While at work they rescue cats from trees and put out fires. This book is a good read for preschoolers. The story line in this text rhymes, which I believe would be an awesome way to assess phonemic awareness within young children. During a read aloud I would simply just ask children which words sound like they rhyme periodically throughout the story.
Read this during fire prevention week in October and had the fire department visit with their truck & gear. I made up a mix CD of different sound effects to play as I read the story (i.e. sirens, a cat meowing, the sound of water splashing.)
There isn't much of note to say about this book. It uses cute pictures of bears to teach kids about fire fighters. What I did find funny was that in looking for this book a bunch of romance novels about bear shapeshifters popped up.
Children who like firefighters will enjoy this title. Kids who are faint of heart will not enjoy one page which shows a mother with baby in the upstairs window of a burning house.
Cute rhyming story of the daily routine for a firebear. The pages are bright and wording is big and bold, very easy to read. My 2 and 5 year olds enjoy this book.
A cute book about firefighters. It has easy, lyrical rhymes that would be easy for a child to follow. It might be a little long for a toddler storytime, but there are parts that could be skipped.
