This review is for billionaire boy. Billionaire boy is a book about Joe Spud who is looking for friends in a rich world. His dad is so caught up in riches that he cant even say i love you to his son. It is a sorrowed story and is very heartfelt. Along with being rich Joe is also overweight which makes making friends very hard for him. I believe the meaning which David Walliams is trying to meet was very well met and it was easy to follow the story. This book was missing it’s final star as the ending was a little messy and i believe it could have been better explained. This book would be very good to read for ages 6-12 because of the story line and like mentioned before it was very easy to follow. the humour (purple bottoms, etc) would easily be enjoyed for that age category.

The book ‘billionaire boy’ was written by a British author called David Walliams. This book is hilarious yet heartwarming. This book is about a boy whose name was Joe Spud. His dad, Len Spud, was poor but invented a type of toilet paper, which made him an extremely wealthy man. Joe instantly became a billionaire and went to a posh school, lived in a large mansion and had everything he ever needed. Joe has his own formula one race car, a thousand pairs of trainers and anything you can ever think off. The only thing he needed was a friend. His classmates in his school were either princes or dukes and earls. They thought that Joe did not deserve to be a billionaire as his dad made toilet rolls. Joe was really desperate for a friend, so he requested to go to a local school with ordinary kids. He tried to hide his identity at first, but then was exposed very quickly. He managed to make a friend who was bullied by the other kids before his identity was exposed. Joe tried to pay the bullies to stop bullying his new friend, Bob, but it wasn’t what Bob wanted. Bob wanted to stand up on the bullies by himself, so the two had an argument about this and they decided to not be friends anymore. The next day, Joe went to school and realised that there was a new girl in the school, whose name was Laura. She was so pretty that everyone started talking about her. She then became a friend of Joe and told him that she liked him. Joe even ignored Bob because of Laura. After a while, A hint after another, Joe finally found out that Laura was actually an actress that was paid by Joe’s dad to be Joe’s friend. Joe was very disappointed with his dad and finally decided to run away from home. The next morning, Joe decided to turn back after the local newsagent, Raj, convinced him. Before he went home, he went to find Bob. They finally became friends again after Joe promised that he would never use money to deal with everything. Joe then saw on the television that his dad went bankrupt as the company was sued for making peoples bottoms turn purple. At last, Joe and his dad lost everything and Joe’s dad married Bob’s mum, as Joe finally found the true meaning of happiness. This story teaches me that money isn’t everything, you can’t buy happiness with money. Sometimes, you can be happy when you are poor but you won’t always be happy even if you are rich. I would rate this book a 9.9 out of 10.
I enjoyed reading these series of books because they were entertaining and very funny. My favourite book out of the set was Gangsta Granny because i enjoyed seeing what challenges she got up to. I think these books were too easy for Year 9 and so therefore will try a more challenging book next time.
