I am Selune. One of the last living Titan goddesses that rule the Faedoroth. Along with my capricious cousins, our pantheon reigns supreme above all others. I've seen the God of power entice the insipid and frail mortals before; never thinking that he would come for me. Lualdir has taken everything from me and threatened to spread my ashes on the stairs alongside our doomed parents. But turn about is fair play, and he will soon learn that taking things by force has repercussions. My power is greater than they all imagined; and so are my demons.
I'll be honest, I really wanted to love this story (the blurb had me *aching* to read it)! And clearly, other readers do love Tears of Silver Shadows.
*But* I personally had a few issues with it, which spoiled the mythology for me. Without going into spoilers, a certain human character didn't seem to give enough credit to Selune's power, but was never in trouble for it...
There were also some jumps between events which were jarring to me, & as much as I understand the reasons behind Selune's change? Her grapple for power comes at a high cost and I think the consequences are too minor. Selune does this in the face of people she loves most telling her, pleading with her, not to. And the fact that she does it, knowing that someone she values the most wouldn't agree with her actions? 😐
This book has been a miss for me (& very nearly a DNF). Some people might say I clearly don't like grimdark tales, but I actually do! That wasn't the problem. I just couldn't love the way that this story was written.
*** I will note, don't let my words sway you. Give this book a try for yourself and see what you think! ***
I really loved this Greek inspired fantasy book. It delves deep in the mythology of Selune the moon goddess. I love how the author talks so artistically about the sky and all the colors. I like how it shows the origins of some of the species in the world. I really like how the author writes with so much imagery because it just takes you to that world and I love it! It is worth the read!
Set in an ancient pantheon of gods, goddesses, and titans, Selune is the Goddess of the moon. This is her story of self discovery and transformation birthed from horror, loss, and love. From the first line, Magaidh Dunbroch delivers you to a world of moonlit nights and evening breezes. The building conflicts culminate in a point of no return that will leave you questioning your own morals.
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Tears of Silver Shadows is an incredibly unique tale involving Titans, Gods, and the birth of vampires and werewolves. I greatly enjoyed the story and the only reason that my review is 4 stars rather than 5 is that I just was not able to connect with Selune the way that I would have liked. I also wish that some of the story had a bit more elaboration, but the prose is very well done and the end is definitely not one that I saw coming. The added sneak peek of Firehides story was a nice touch at the end, although I do wish he had been incorporated a bit more into the story. I plan to purchase a physical copy and I can’t wait for the next book!

First, I am so glad to see the Titans get some attention in books. They’re usually overlooked in favor of the Olympians but the author uses them so well here. There is a sense of time and age to them that I really enjoyed seeing put in paper.
The prose could get a little wonky at times. Not bad, per se, but it could feel overstuffed and at some points, I felt like I was seeing names over and over instead of using other pronouns or descriptions. It could get a bit tedious. But, that did improve as the story went on and is worth powering through.
I really like the MC. She has a sense of vulnerability to her but when we start to see her strengths, that doesn’t come out of nowhere. It feels authentic. I truly enjoyed watching her interact with others and again, there was an overall sense of agelessness with these characters that feels so right.
It’s certainly worth the time for a read through and I look forward to seeing the author’s future projects!
⭐️Gods and Goddesses, non-consensual activities, scorned love, child rearing, demons, revenge, and more! Who wouldn’t want to read a book like this?!?⭐️
Following the moon goddess Selune in her journey of fighting the lord god Lualdir, who is trying to take her down a path she does not want, until she figures out a little secret that makes her encounters worth it. Selune also falls in love with a mortal man named Gabriel, who takes her by surprise when he knew who she was. In the end, when Lualdir finds out about Gabriel, all the nine hells break loose. Selune takes on Lualdir and his own game for her broken heart along with her daughter Mhoryra, who also loves Gabriel like a father.
Will Selune get her revenge for Lualdirs actions of jealousy or still she become this monster who no longer feels emotions toward the gods she’s lived along side since the time of the titans?!?
Just when we think that Selune can't fall any further into despair, another challenge, another blow knocks her down lower. We see love, and loss, and transformation as she learns more about herself and discovers her inner strength and power. Magaidh's work had me on the edge of my seat with my heart pounding, in some places, and tears streaming from my eyes in others. It's a rare storyteller that can elicit such a variety of emotion in one tale, and I look forward to seeing where her imagination takes us next.
I enjoyed getting a different take on Titans because in movies and other books they are never seen in the way they are here. I hate that Selune just cannot catch a break.. her overall growth through the story has been nice to read. I feel like I wanted a little bit more in the story and ending.. like something more was needed. It was a nice read overall. I do want to thank the author for reaching out to me about this ebook and note that all opinions/thoughts above are my own!
The way this book grabbed me by the lady balls and refused to let me go. I went in pretty blind and I think that just added to the story because I had no idea where it would go. Watching Selune come into her own power while seeking revenge was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. My heart bled for her and I absolutely love her. Magaidh has a way of making a story seem slow and fast at the same time (in a good way). The way she makes everything unfold in a story is absolutely beautiful.
This is a beautifully written tale that masterfully blends Greek mythology with an original, haunting fantasy world that feels both timeless and unique. The characters are richly developed, and the world-building is immersive, pulling readers into a realm where every shadow tells a story.
I adored Selune’s story. For those who are looking for a feel good read- this will not be for you.
As with all Greek mythology, the Gods and Goddesses were creatures of great power. With this power came entitlement, jealousy, boredom, and the need to invoke chaos for entertainment.
Selune is the Goddess of night. With her kind heart and soul, she spends her days avoiding the impending games of the remaining gods, especially Lualdir the Lord God.
That is until she caught his attention and he wouldn’t stop until he got what he wanted. After meeting and falling in love with the mortal, Gabrielle, Selune endures more heartbreak that places her on one path. The need for revenge.
This book contains on page sexual assault. Please read at your discretion.
Selune ❤️❤️ what a rollercoaster. Loved this book, it takes a good book for me to binge it in a few hours but that's what this book MADE me do. It demanded my attention from the very start. The twists, the turns, the love, the power struggles. Aaaaah.... Just beautifully written as usual from Magaidh and makes me insanely jealous and sad that I don't live in selunes world.
I really really loved this book. The world building was fast but I was able to keep up easily. I absolutely love that the FMC didn’t take the bullshit laying down and decided to make her own fate. I’m off to read book 2.
Selune is one of the last Titan Goddesses that rule the Faedoroth. One would think that living amongst other Gods and Goddesses would be full of laughter, happiness, and peace. Wrong, so very wrong. The God of Power is revolting and self-obsessed, taking anything and everyone he wants and doing with it/them as he pleases. Selune, the Titan Goddess of the moons is not like the God of Power. She is peace, joy, and kindness wrapped into one. The God of Power, Lualdir is a fool, but an evil one who took the one thing Selune can never get back, which changes her life's path. Gods are not supposed to interact with mortal people, especially in any type of relationship. Selune finds herself enchanted by a mortal named Gabriel, whom she shares her life stories and feelings with. When the God of Power finds out, terrible things are done that can't be undone and Selune takes things into her own hands. Will Selune be able to stop the evil that spreads within Faedoroth by Lualdir? What happens that changes her path and course of life direction?
My Review:
This is, in my opinion, a great fantasy love story filled with obstacles, enchantment, and a fight for power. The author made a great decision when adding a disclaimer to the beginning of the book as not all scenes are "friendly." Fantasy readers will be drawn in by Selune's strength and the depths she has to go to protect herself and those she loves. This was a book that when I got a few chapters in, had me so involved I did not want to put the book down. I am really hoping that in the future, there will be another book that continues Selune's story to see how all plays out in the Faedoroth.
I absolutely LOVED this book! Let’s discuss. This is not your typical retelling. But it is soo much more.
Selune, the Moon Goddess, is kind and quiet. She keeps to herself. She’s also lonely and tired. Looking for more. Considering she’s immortal, life becomes mundane. Until one day while she meets a mortal, Gabriel. He’s sweet and sees her. Truly sees her. She knows she should stay away, but the thought of never seeing him doesn’t work for her. So against her better judgement, she forms a friendship with him.
Their friendship grows. But they are “star crossed” for lack of wording. Something happens to Selune and she fears their meetings will end. The opposite, the grow stronger. They continue on. Until something happens to Gabriel and it changes Selune. She becomes darker and seeks vengence. I can’t give the story away, you HAVE to read it!
I could not put this book down. It was absolutely amazing. It is part of series and will end on a cliff hanger. I can however assure you, it is worth it!
Star rating: ⭐⭐⭐💫 3.5 (rounded up to 4) Spice rating: 🌶🌶🌶
I really liked the dedication and the chapter titles of this book. I love when the author goes to the trouble of naming chapters, because I always enjoy trying to tease out the meaning behind them. The worldbuilding within this book was good, I could imagine everything pretty clearly.
I enjoyed the premise of this book- a meek goddess finding her strength, albeit through trauma, and overcoming the obstacles in her way. However, I came to not really like who Selune, the FMC, became as the book went on. In fact, I didn't connect overly much with any of the characters, other than the mortal Gabriel, but by the end of the book I was still invested enough to wonder what would happen to them all in Book 2.
The epilogue contained an interesting development, and the book ended on a definate cliffhanger, which again, makes me intrigued to read the next book.
This book may be for you if you enjoy forbidden romance, gods/ godesses, Greek-style mythology, creation stories, and short fantasy books with good worldbuilding.
💢 TW: violence, gore, death, sexual assualt (fade to black), sexual scenes (somewhat descriptive)
“I am Selune. One of the last living Titan goddesses that rule the Faedoroth. Along with my capricious cousins, our pantheon reign supreme above all others. I enjoyed this take on the gods and titans mythology. It was a faster paced story that kept me entertained. The writing style is every eloquent however sometimes it felt a little passive in its prose. Aside from a few grammatical errors the storyline felt complete, well paced, and didn’t leave any plot holes. I loved the main character, Selene and her arc throughout the story. The other characters however, felt a little flat. That being said, it’s under 200 pages and only so much can be done within that length. Overall it was a solid fast read with beautiful imagery. This is an incomplete story so there will be a second book.
This story is about Selune, the lovely moon goddess whom is one of the last titans left. Kind, timid and often overlooked Selune is tired, and lonely.
Until one night she meets a mortal man named Gabriel. Unlike anyone she’s ever meet, Gabriel is sweet, gentle and truly sees her. A beautiful friendship grows between them.
Without giving too much away…
Selune deals with arrogant gods, love, betrayal and loss which changes her.
Timid and overlooked no more, Selune transforms into a goddess of fear and vengeance.
This was my first time reading this author's work. I was enthralled with the incredible world and story they’ve created. Magaidh Dunbroch is an incredible artist with her words, especially with creating her characters and their emotions.
The vulnerability in Selune and her new found strength feels so very honest and authentic which made me love the character and story so much more.
The book is apart of a series and does end on a cliffhanger but I assure you it’s worth it! Please check Trigger Warnings before reading!
Title: Tears Of Silver Shadows: Secrets Of The Thrundul
Author: Magaidh Dunbroch
Synopsis: I am Selune. One of the last living Titan goddesses that rule the Faedoroth. Along with my cousins, our pantheon reigns supreme above all others. I've seen the God of power entice the insipid and frail mortals before, never thinking that he would come for me. Lualdir has taken everything from me and threatened to spread my ashes on the stairs alongside our doomed parents. He took everything I held dear the night he sought to take my power from me, to cull my spirit and my freedom. But turn about is fair play, and he will soon learn that taking things by force has repercussions. My power is greater than they all imagined; and so are my demons.
Review: This book was such a whirlwind! I didn’t know what to expect from it! For such a short book! So much happens to the main character Selune! She goes through so much and changes because of it! This made me so much and the imaginary in it was on point! That ending left me shook and I need to know what will happen next!
We need more fantasy-based Greek mythology retellings in the world. You know the saying, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned?” I’d like to introduce you to Selune. She is a meek goddess among the Pantheon, until she is pushed too far. Tears of Silver Shadows is about Selune finding her claws and embracing her power, refusing to bow before men any longer. The diction in this book calls forth vivid imagery in the reader’s mind, and I enjoyed the journey of Selune realizing she does not have to live her life on fear despite the trauma she has endured. Andraste and Gaelyn from Magaidh’s first book also make an appearance, and the fiery couple always ensures to raise hell.
I wanted to love this book and give it 5 stars, and if I based my review solely on the storytelling it would have been close. However the editing in this book is sorely lacking and makes it extremely difficult to read. Selune’s tale has potential, but reads more like a first draft than a published story.
I listened to the audio book of this book and it was so good. I also own the physical book, and the cover is absolutely gorgeous. Audiobooks are not my first choice, but I loved this one. Usually, I'm not a fan of the narrator doing all voices, but this narrator did a great job. When she shifted to the male characters, it didn't sound awkward.
I loved Selune as a character. Her growth throughout the book was so fantastic. She makes herself small to stay under everyone's radar until that no longer works. She finds that she has to be strong for herself, and she is willing to be what they all fear. She has to fight from being invisible to battling against the powerful male who decides she is worthy of his unwanted attention.
There are strong mythological ties, and I love it. Gods, Titans, and the beginning of new paranormal creatures are an integral part of this story. I'm so glad that I have this beauty sitting on my shelf!
I received an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I didn't really know what to expect when I started this book. It was fairly short, but boy did I pack a lot in. Selune goes through so much in such a short amount of time. Love. Betrayal. Vulnerability. She's pushed past her breaking point and comes out with a newfound strength that might just get her into trouble.
Check it out when it becomes available if you like fantasy and mythology!
Wow! This was my first time reading this author's work and I was pleasantly surprised.
When I was offered an ARC copy, I didn't know I'd be thrust into the world of Titans and not want to leave. I was sad when I got to the last page and realized I had to leave these characters behind (for now). I look forward to reading more from Magaidh Dunbroch.
Ok, hear me out. I was not ready to love this as much as I did. I really liked this author’s previous work, but this was her best piece to date. Her story telling was fantastic. This author has a way of writing characters that I care about and I love it. There were times in this story where I was devastated, elated, and vindictive along with the characters.
Another great book from an up and coming author. Her first book was great and this one kept me very entertained. I absolutely love the origin of vampire and werewolf lore mixed with Titans and Gods. Can’t wait for her next book.

This book has a new twist on the titans. Selune is the goddess of Titans that has a power hungry man out to steal her power. But she won't go down without a fight. This book has action and twists that will keep you wanting more.
This is my first read by this author, I devoured it in less than 48 hours which is really saying something, this is book one and I’m looking forward to more books coming!
Titans, Gods, Vampires, Werewolves. Romance and action. The suspense throughout the next chapter!! Once again, Magaidh knocks it out of the park. A literary classic in the making with the series.

The emotions! The imagery! Absolutely stunning! If you are craving a mythological-esque story that will break your heart and repair it again. This is the one!
I liked the different out look on titans and seeing a different deity other than Zeus or Athena. The twists and turns good. I am looking forward to the next book.
