Aquanaut Sylvia Earle did a wonderful job taking her readers along for with her as she, over the years, explored various locations in the undersea world. I particularly enjoyed how she described the challenges of her field vs. her fellow scientists studying anything on land. “I wondered, what would Jane Goodall know of chimpanzees if she had studied them only by flying over forests in a helicopter, snagging them in a net?” In the final chapter she reiterated the impact of people and their litter have on the ocean and our duty to do our part in conservation and proper disposal of trash.
