Reread. Healthy relationships? Boring. This is much more fun.

Sato continues to torment Yoshida.
Yamanaka and Torachin?
And 60+ pages of unrelated story: Shiro Kazama of the school discipline committee x lone wolf Masami Kaito.

All humor, no sex.

Your classic "Must go after the popular handsome guy" yaoi story, this volume is about Yoshida (the normal bratty guy) and Sado (the popular handsome guy). Yoshida doesn't want to admit how he feels about Sado, but the words often slip out. Sado, however, wants everyone to know he loves Yoshida...but, mostly to get the girls to stop chasing him.
There's also a couple stories about a Discipline Committee member falling in love with a delinquent.
--------------
This book is a pretty quick read. The plot is not deep, but it is extremely enjoyable to read. We all need to read some fluff every once in awhile.

This volume was provided to me by SuBLime, a division of VIZ Media, via Edelweiss, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Not as many chapters involving Sato and Yoshida in this one, but I loved the inclusion of the side-story with Torachin and Yamanaka. Yoshida is a Good Boy.

I forgot how silly manga can be and I miss it. I need to read more cute, slice of life, romance manga. Life is too harsh not to enjoy the nice, sweet things in life.

I love this series, it's a cute bully romance. Some of the language is a little dated. This volume in particular has a trans character, and I can't speak for the representation, but it wasn't horrible. This series is sweet and I'm enjoying my re-read of it.

I don't understand how this manga has an average of 4 stars??? These volumes are just progressively getting more and more awful. Maybe I'm taking the "plot" too seriously but...borderline rape and emotional abuse just aren't that funny to me??

This has to be one of the funniest manga series ever! A pure delight from cover to cover, creator Suzuki Tanaka has perfect comedic and visual timing. What's more, words and imagery are interdependent; the humor arises out of their mutual and equal interaction, rather than the drawings merely illustrating the words or the words simply narrating the art.

Yoshida protected Sato from bullies years ago, but while Sato grew up to be a high school hottie, Yoshida grew into a socially awkward, skinny geek. That hasn't stopped Sato from falling in love with Yoshida, and Sato is protective of his man. Since their relationship is new and fragile, no one yet knows about it, especially not the gaggle of girls who've transformed into a like-minded pack of lionesses where Sato is concerned. Many of the laughs come from the reactions of these girls; I've worried a bit about whether there isn't some misogyny and gender stereotyping at work above and beyond the comedy. But for me, as an older guy who started looking at yaoi as part of teaching a new university course, the girls’ reactions remind me of my friends reactions once upon a time when we were all young guys who were totally boy crazy. Our behaviorism might not have been the same as girls, but we were no less enthralled by a handsome face or cute butt. I see the same kind of thing in some of the young LGBTIQA+ students I work with. We all have to explore the world and in so doing explore who we are. My take, then, on the “girl zombies” following Sato around is more that it is an absurdist exaggeration of a common trait more than a specifically misogynistic portrayal.

That said, this is becoming one of my favorite series. We'll see where it goes and how long the author can keep Sato and Yoshida’s story going. BTW, this volume features two short, unconnected stories about high school BL that are fairly entertaining.

Series review
Awkward Yoshida is hated by all the girls in school for his perceived closeness with hot guy Sato, who uses hanging out with Yoshida as an excuse to turn them all down. If Yoshida is merely an excuse, why does Sato taunt him in private about “his favorite”? Is it possible Sato’s feelings run deeper than friendship? And what could he possibly see in the funny-looking Yoshida? Watch Yoshida’s life turn upside down with hilarious results!

According to wiktionary, this is on-point for yaoi: from Japanese やおい (yaoi), an acronym of Yama nashi, ochi nashi, imi nashi (ヤマなし、オチなし、意味なし), "no climax, no point, no meaning".

I got sucked in and spent way too much time and money on this series of boys-love scenarios. Because that’s all it really is, a series of tropes strung together with a mean pretty boy and an “ugly” tough guy who is really short.

This series contains: badly proportioned hands and bodies (though I've seen much worse), mean girls, asshole love interest, non-consensual or dubiously-consensual sexual interactions, and a total disregard to boundaries or desires.

While it has its moments, there's already enough explosive boys-love stories out there. We didn't really need another. Me saying “it's not as bad as others" isn't saying much. I know it's good that things are getting better but they're still not good enough, and I can’t really believe I read nine volumes of this before I gave up.

I felt this was a better volume. People weren’t so pushy and let things happen. Yoshida has realized that he does like Sato in this volume. This is a Japanese high school romance. This got better.

At the end, they started a whole new story with new characters for some reason. I don’t know why they do that. I know it’s to get people interested in a new story, but it’s so annoying. I just don’t care about the new story.

There are several new pairing in this story happening. The story is growing nicely. It’s funny too. The girls in this story are going crazy over Sato. It’s so bad that other girls schools are into him and waiting at the gate for him. The girls are practicing martial arts to have this huge rumble over Sato. He hates it.

The class votes to put Yoshida and some other awkward boys in cheerleading uniforms for a game. That a bit of funny. There were some funny moments here.

My library doesn’t have vol. 3 any longer, so I will have to pick the story up in Vol. 4.

Volume 2 wasn't as good as the first one. Of the three acts involving Sato and Yoshida, Act 6 was my favorite. Sato really shows his jealous side in that one and I'm glad that Yoshida stood his ground and did what he wanted to do....despite how scary Sato was being.

I was a little confused about the events that took place in Act 7. Is Yamanaka bi? I didn't get that impression in the first book... but I guess so? Either way, I'm glad that he and Torachin are getting along. He may have been a narcissistic player (does anyone say player anymore, lol) but he definitely didn't deserve to be ostracized the way he was.

I wasn't a fan of the two extra stories at the end. The main characters were very attractive though. And they looked really cute together. I just thought the stories themselves were a little boring. I didn't even finish the second one because it got too ridiculous for me. I'm glad the book ended in a oneshot involving Sato and Yoshida. Those two are adorable together.

TORACHIN AND YAMANAKA ARE SOOOO CUTE !!
You know it's bad when two side characters come into view and immediately, completely pull my focus away from the main characters XD

I thought the side stories at the end were a little silly, but I gotta say, this mangaka's art style is a huge allure for me. I thought that the main couple in the side story were very cutely designed, but I thought that the character in all black with the pet snake, Honjo, was SUPER cute! I wouldn't mind reading a whole manga about the disciplinary committee from this side story.

I LOVE THIS SERIES!
I love that it's all about the relationship between the two!
There aren't many good yaoi books that I know of that is about the actual relationship between the two of them!
I can't stop reading this series.
I waited a whole year to read the latest series and I cannot wait for the next one!

I really like the additional characters introduced in this volume -- and I love the reaction when one of them catches the MCs in a classroom together!

I'm not going to read beyond this book. It just...wasn't anything special, and not worth the big bucks to keep buying the series.

A very cute entry in the series, I'm really enjoying their dynamic and the side characters as well. It's a bit of a slower book but the dialogue is well written so it's not too much of an issue.

Torachin is so cute!! I love characters with scary faces that are actually soft. I want more of his and Yamanaka's relationship!!!

The bonus story at the end was a bit weird, but I liked it.
