How hard is it to NOT have sex with him? Lust has melted Holly Connelly’s brain and it’s all Ryan Darcy’s fault. He’s been ruthlessly flirting with her for the past three years. Ryan’s a sex god complete with sinful body, endless wit, and an orgasm-inducing smile. One sultry look from him will make her panties jump off her body. His endless string of one-night stands has Holly thinking she’ll be just another conquest. Since she actually has feelings for the guy, it makes it that much harder to put off his advances. When they get trapped together by a snowstorm, it’s all she can do to resist him. If Holly says yes, she’ll probably regret it. If she says no, she’ll always wonder what if.

Christmas Kisses is book one in the Winter Kisses series by H.M. Ward.

It is Christmas break and Holly Connelly is home from college for Christmas. Instead of staying near home like a lot of her high school classmates did in New York, Holly needed a fresh start. She was accepted and moved to Texas. So this is her first time back home. When Holly and her friend go out for the evening, she hopes she won’t run in to her high school friend, Ryan Darcy. She and Ryan have been friends for three years and Holly has crushed on him every one of those days. But Ryan is a player and she has no interest in being a notch on his belt. But of course, when she is just relaxing and thinking he won’t be there, in he walks.

Ryan can’t believe Holly is here. She is the one he can never forget. They’ve been good friends but he always wanted more. But she doesn’t seem interested. So he keeps his feelings to himself and takes what he can get from her even if it is just friendship.

driving in a snow storm

On this fateful night, Holly agrees to take Ryan home but a terrible ice storm closes the highways and Ryan and Holly are stranded. So they decide to go to Ryan’s deserted dorm room. But neither of these two realize how the other feels. Both are determined to keep their hands off the other since they think their feelings aren’t returned.

affectionate touching

“There’s no way to refuse him when he’s like this, it’s like he’s the sun, and although I know I’ll never survive, I want to dive straight into him.”

affectionate kissing:

This was a short and sweet tale of two young people fighting to be independent but both finding that perhaps, this Christmas, Santa might bring them what they’ve both been wanting for three very long years.

I was lucky enough to be given an ARC of this one!! I loved the story and the romance was perfect. I think we all have had that one guy, the guy that we never thought we could have. This is how Holly feels about Ryan. They guy she has wanted for years but, he is not the type to have a girlfriend. He's more into bed buddies then actual girlfriends. It is by chance that Holly runs into Ryan at a concert. Things heat up from that point on. A snow storm has been raging outside and when Ryan offers to ride with Holly home the night takes a drastic change in events. Lets just say I have a whole new appreciation for dorm rooms. I did not know magic like that took place in dorm rooms! The romance between these two is intense. It is one that has been boiling for some time and lust like boils over in amazing ways, but for Holly more then just lust is involved. Her heart is aching for Ryan. There is also the complication of being in Texas for college while Ryan is in New York.

Ryan is your typical hot guy who wants to hit it and quit it. He comes off as a real playboy who doesn't want a relationship. He is very good at hiding his true feelings. I like how the story goes back and forth between Holly and Ryan. It lets you know how they are really feeling on the inside. The romance between them is sooo sweet too. It's the kind all women want!

I loved this story and it was during Christmas, which is my favorite time of the year so all around great! It is was one of my favorite ones from H.M. Ward. I think the romance just felt so real, like it could happen to anyone. That's what made it so good. It could have been a story about anyone. A real story! Once again I am blown away by H.M. Ward!!

Holy holy wowza. I swear H.M. Ward can not write a bad novel and Christmas Kisses is no exception. I honestly think this book is my second favorite book of the year done by H.M. Ward.

Christmas Kisses is told mostly from Holly's perspectives but does switch to Ryan's sometimes which just made this book even better!!

The story starts out with Holly Connelly is worrying about seeing her three year crush who she can barely keep her hands off and hasn't stopped thinking since she left five months ago. Now back in New York City she's faced with the dilemma she tried to leave behind, Ryan Darcy. Ryan Darcy is a heart throb who is known for his one-night stands and is a love em' and leave em kind of guy. The kind of guy that Holly is trying to steer clear from because she knows that if they take their relationship to the next level it would end badly. Hoping she doesn't see him at the party is a bust and after all the time apart they are still drawn to each other.

Overall, most of this book is filled with Holly and Ryan's confusion towards each other. Both of them assuming(which everyone knows what happens when people assume things) that the other knows just how affected they are by one another. Thing is? Neither of them do. Holly thinks Ryan only wants to flirt or have a one night stand with her and Ryan thinks she'd never be interested in a guy like him. The story goes on and on as they try to conceal their feelings for one another because they both fear what will happen afterwards. The sexual tension builds and build until finally BAM!!! Hot steamy sex leaving them both breathless. Does the story stop there though? Of coarse not. For Holly will be going back to Texas to start her college coarse again soon. Staying together through the holiday's and then it's time for Holly to head back to school. Will Holly and Ryan's feelings for one another survive the distance? Or will they just share Christmas Kisses?

Favorite Quote:
"She turns to walk away, saying over her shoulder, "I'll call you later. I want to know every detail."
Ryan's face flushes as he looks at me. "You guys don't really do that, do you?"
"Do what?"
"Tell each other everything. I mean, not everything, right?" Ryan squirms in his seat for a moment.
I lean forward on my elbows. "Why would it matter? I only have good things to say about you. Good big things.""

Sweet, loving, and tender is the best way to describe this Christmas book. I really enjoyed that these two people see each other again after not seeing each other for a long time, but when they see each other, the chemistry is really good.

The back story was incredibly well-done between Holly and Ryan. Really liked that these were two characters who have a history and do want to be together, but circumstances changed and things didn’t really go right the first time. Yet, that changes when they see one another again at a party.

The party scene where they see each other is very deep and rich. You see longing on both of these characters. Also love how the narrative changes from chapter to chapter. Every other chapter is told from Ryan, then Holly’s, then Ryan. I think it made it much more interesting to read and feel that each of them has long for the other one, but not knowing how the other feels. Also their conversations were good, rich and interesting.

They form that connection again. From that connection begins one of the sweetest, tender moments I think. I think the fact that both Ryan and Holly let themselves enjoy each other and the time they spend getting to know one another is interesting as both Ryan and Holly learn how to love one another. When Ryan and Holly make love to each other, something special happens between them during that moment. They realize that they complete each other (as corny as that sounds).

Ryan and Holly realize they only have so much time left together, but decide to make the most of the time that they have. Things get so intense between them that you feel that the ending will be heartbreaking. Yet what happens is so passionate and heart warming that the two characters find a way to be together. I really love happy endings.

The ending of this book was really nice and also was what I wanted from a Christmas story.

It is extremely rare for me to ever give lower than 4 stars to anything, but that's what this one earns, despite the very lovely cover.

I originally decided to read this because the synopsis sounded a lot like Frigid by J. Lynn, that I did a review on awhile back. It was nothing like it. Sure, it had the sexual tension and the alternating point-of-view that shows how each person is completely oblivious to how the other feels, but that's about the only similarities it has.

Ryan just isn't an interesting character to me. He seems too wrapped up in her and that doesn't usually happen. When a guy is wrapped up in a girl to the point that his friends are bugging him about it, then he is either already dating her and she has him whipped or he's in major friend zone and never coming out of it. So for Ryan to be this caught up in her was too much for me. And the ending was a little far-fetched too. It was a nice idea, but too "perfect" in tying everything in a big happy ending bow.

This book also mainly takes place over two days! She shows up from coming home from college swearing she won't run into him and if she does she wants her friend to keep him away. Instead the friend purposefully throws them together. Sexual tension surrounds everything. But things just seem to be answered to easily and happen to easily. Once they're finally together they can't get enough of each other. It literally says they spend a week together with him inside of her. Yes, a week of time is just passed off in a sentence, maybe a paragraph if you include some of the other descriptions. So all the focus is on the first two days. That and the fact that they go at it on her parents couch twice when her parents are sleeping, right after her internal monologue says she doesn't want to wake them up. It was overall too irritating of a read and I wish I wouldn't have even attempted it. It says it's part of a series, but I won't be reading the others.

I don't normally read Novellas - I really like to dig into a story and with novellas I find that they are usually too short to fully immerse myself. I'm often left wanting more. That being said, I'm glad that I decided to read this one. It was a quick light read, and was just what I needed. Having read books like the Sea of Tranquility and Reason to Breathe (both of which were fantastic books), I definitely needed something that wasn't emotionally draining. This book did the trick. If you're looking for a fun quick read, I'd recommend this.

Well, it's a nice, little story which will keep you entertained with the overly romantic fairytale-romance about 45 minutes, all well and good.
Even though I usually dislike a story told in different POVs here I surprisingly liked it and the characters were all in all nice too.

But what's up with the cover, the running gag/misunderstanding is that he doesn't like blondes at all..
And secondly I was so disappointed that almost one fifth of the already short novella turns out to be a sneak peak of an other book or series..

A holiday young adult romance with lots of steamy hot sex . Two college students, Ryan and Holly follow their paths which leads them into each others bed errr... I mean heart. Unfortunately I didn't feel the love between them when they were making out. Only lust. I would've liked to feel their attraction instead of read about it. I think they were made for each other though and it was worth the 0.99

My rating for this book is 0.5 stars.

I wanted to love this. I really did. I mean, look at that wonderful cover. It's so nice to see Ryan making out with one of the blondes he replaced Holly with all those years on the cover of a book about him and Holly. Guess whomever designed the cover didn't read the part where Holly told the readers that she has BROWN HAIR and brown eyes. Also, the author should have had this proofread before selling it, as it often leaves a word out that is needed for it to make sense, or uses incorrect words (like "It's" for "its'" or "to" for "too"). On top of that, this crept along for quite awhile (the entire time she had yet to go to the diner with Ryan!), so I just about gave up on ever finishing it. Don't let that make you DNF this book, though, since it does get better.
-------------
Once this story picks up, and both the main characters decide they want to be intimate together, it picks up quickly. But, it does remain almost completely about sex for the rest of the book...with little else plotwise going on. But, these two are young and crazy in love, and being driven mad by these hormones that surface when around one another, so that's pretty much all they need.
But, I love that it keeps telling you how much they love one another. And, the Ryan transferring and surprising her was a wonderful ending. I'd love to read more about this couple in future books, so I hope she has more planned.
This book is great as a quick read, and the intimate scenes will keep you entranced. You will not be able to put it down.
-------------
Just a couple things more..... 1. My name is Holly, and when I was 19, I had a boyfriend named Ryan. I cannot picture us having ever become this way, since he turned out to be a jerk. But, I do enjoy H&R's chemistry in this book. 2. I'm kind of curious if the H in the author's name means that her first name is Holly as well. If so, was this character named after (or based on) her?

Ryan & Holly have known each other since highschool. God I love these stories when both the characters have feelings for each other, but have no idea that they do. Holly skipped town & went to another college after a bad break up at the end of high school. Ryan like all their other friends went to a local College in New York, Long Island & had no idea what happened to her.

Ryan has always wanted Holly & vise versa, but as friends they both thought the other just wanted to stay that way. In the past when he built up the courage to say something the timing was always off. When one was single the other wasn't. But now Holly came home for christmas. She's only home for winter break & then heading back to Texas. Ryan doesn't want just a quick romance with her, so he holds back.

This makes Holly think she isn't his type still as he usually dates blondes & she's brunette. It turns out that he only does this because they are opposite to Holly, this way he can get her out of his head. Neither of them can do this, they actualy obsess about each other.

They end up stranded in the snow together & thank god they do, because finally the get together & it's hot & passionate. They are soul mates & have such a romantic time together, but she's going back to college. I don't want to spoil the end, but let me just say It brilliant & there is a HEA to make us warm & fuzzy.

Very enjoyable read.

CHRISTMAS KISSES!

What can I say? It's freaking awesome and great and awesome. Wait, did I already said it was awesome? Yea.

I am lucky that Ms. Ward gave me an ARC of this and for that, thank you Ms. Ward that you have given me the privilege to read in advance this awesome story.

Holly Connelly (wait Ms. Ward's first name is Holly too, right? Now I wonder if it was based on her. Haha) is visiting her hometown for the Holidays but apparently, she also doesn't want to visit her heart's issues when it comes to this man who she really loves.

Ryan Darcy, a guy who likes Holly but is too afraid to tell her. He's afraid that his love for her woud be rejected or wouldn't be reciprocated.

For the first few pages, I was instantly hooked and honestly, I was frustrated with these two characters but that frustration is what drives me to read until the end of this story. All the time, I was like " Oh, come on! Kiss and make up already you two" or most times I would rant and say "Hello! Guys! Are the both of you blind? Or just insensitive? Can't you feel the love? "
But in the end, I was so happy for the both of them.

Christmas Kisses takes me exactly to what Christmas season feels like especially if the atmosphere is filled with love too.

Congrats Ms. Ward! Looking forward to reading more of your stories. :)

Christmas Kisses by H.M. Ward is a cute winter story about coming home from college for Christmas and running into the guy of your dreams EXCEPT you aren't down with self-torture and see him as a love 'em and leave 'em type and you don't want to be left!

I enjoyed the story and the banter between Holly and Ryan but I wasn't able to get emotionally invested in these two. Well, not much anyways. So I'm going with a three on ratings as I liked it, but nowhere near as much as I have liked other books I've read from this author.

It's part of a series so I will definitely be reading book two as H.M. Ward is easily one of my favorite authors.

He’s the wrong guy for me. Ryan’s the love ‘em and leave ‘em type. He won’t spontaneously convert into boyfriend material. He’ll rip my heart out, Mandy.
-Holly

I wanted you yesterday, and the day before that. I’ll still want you tomorrow. Is that good enough?

Synopsis: "How hard is it to NOT have sex with him? If she says no, she’ll always wonder what if."

My Review: It feels like your classic friendship kicked up chic flick kind of story. It is fun and flirty with some definite heat, but it is what you expect it to be. I do like the friendly banter and teasing, it feels comfortable. If you are looking for a fun little romance for the holiday season, this could be your book.

Love this story! Holly & Ryan's story is so relatable and touching, it melts your heart. Friends first and that flame lit that neither realized or would react to. They always say you never know what you lost until it is gone.
So what happens when your best friends leaves without even saying goodbye? Then finally you see each other again. The moment is so intense and reading it from each person's perspective is what makes it that much better.
The scenes leading up to feelings coming out and the incredible sex scene make you die a little inside. Afraid to read further because you don't want it to end, and in true H.M. Ward fashion, you are waiting for the ball to drop. This is the perfect book for anyone to read this time of the year.
I read this book over a year ago and did a re-read due to the third book coming out this year.

They're just so f*ckin' adorable!!!

It's a short story about Holly who comes home for christmas brake and find herself alone with Ryan because of a snowstorm.

Holly thinks that Ryan is just a major player who just going to break her heart if she let him close to her. And Ryan thinks that Holly doesn't want him just as friends, so he decides it is enough for him if he just can be around her. So they both afraid to make a step forward.

Although the cover is really good, I hate that there is a blond girl on it when in the book Holly's hair is brown and the haircolour kind of has a part in the story.

Otherwise it's an easy enjoyable reading.

So, WTF?

No bromeo.

College girl Holly returns home for the holidays hoping she doesn't run into Ryan, the guy she secretly lusted after in high school. It's been five months since Holly left for college and Ryan still can't get her out of his head. Of course their paths are going to cross again, and of course they ended up stranded together in a snow storm. It all just sets the scene for them to finally reveal their feelings for each other and some hot sex.

However, as a parent of college-aged kids, all I could think was "Did she call her parents to let them know she was stranded? They are probably worried sick about her and thinking she crashed in a ditch." LOL

I was given an ARC of this and one word I will use is "WOW!" This was indeed one of the hottest books I've read this year. The story goes back and forth, being told from both Holly and Ryan's points of view. Each had hidden feelings for one another, both afraid of how the other felt. Having been friends previously, the flirting was natural between the two. Sparks fly when they are all but stranded at Ryan's dorm due to roads being closed because of a snow storm. The passion unfolds with each breath. This is a MUST READ! Cozy on up to the fire with your cocoa and be prepared.

This is a quick little read about Christmas break. Holly left New York for college in Texas. Now she is home hoping she doesn't run into Ryan, the guy she has loved for three years. They run into each other at a concert and are stuck together in his dorm after the roads to get home have been blocked off from the snow storm and ice. And things only heat up from there as they finally confess their feelings for each other. I did find how long they took to realize they liked each other annoying, but overall it was a cute, sexy holiday story.
