I am glad this is the major I chose between all other flashy computer science sub-majors, didn’t have as much buzz as cybersecurity or AI, for example, but as soon as I knew about it, I knew it was the one :)

Quite challenging but still fun and rewarding, and very fitting for my personality in ways probably uninteresting to you for me to describe in details here. I am just happy I could feel this passionate about such stressful path. Hope I can make it to be a great data scientist!

This book is exactly what the title says… an introduction. After reading You will know that something like Data Science is on the market and it's not something new and You need to start looking around to get to know it. If You know something about Data Science You should look for other book maybe more complex one or for some course that will give You more knowledge.

The thing that for sure you can get from this is few informations (e.g. about Cassandra DB) that some technologies exists but main problem isn't with technology but with people thinking and using that technology for benefit.

Excellent introduction. Concise, engaging, intelligent and not overhyped on technology questions. A short book that cuts through the big Data BS, to give provide a useful overview in a couple of hours.

As my first audio book on data science, I loved it's concise and to the point. I loved that the authors didn't get lost in the vast sea od data-related knowledge. I did however, sometimes had to rewind to understand something. Nevertheless, as a beginner book it did what it was meant to: mention and explain the tools and concepts and left to the listener to explore further.

Where Big Data has been and where it needs to go.

This book’s author effectively crunches the world of Big Data into manageable and creative chucks of information to create an easy to follow story. I found the quotes from experts precise in that they capture the essence of where Big Data has been and where it needs to go.

This is a great book when you want to learn about the principals of data science. It gives a good overview on the difference between structured data, such as SQL, and unstructured data. I liked how it also gives the philosophical questions that must be answered in data science.
