Rosemary Wells is an American writer and illustrator of children's books. She often uses animal characters to address real human issues. Some of her most well-known characters are Max & Ruby and Timothy from Timothy Goes To School (both were later adapted into Canadian-animated preschool television series, the former’s airing on Nickelodeon (part of the Nick Jr. block) and the latter’s as part of PBS Kids on PBS).
Yes, my children are a bit old for this, but they grew up on Max and Ruby and they will sometimes indulge my nostalgia in reading this to them. Weird? Maybe. Do I care? Nope. I will always be a Max and Ruby fan. And I am so ready for the holiday season. Bonus: I get to add it to my Goodreads stats.
As in each Max and Ruby book either Ruby wants something and bosses Max around, or Max wants something and doesn't listen to Ruby to get what he wants. In this book they are with Grandma looking for Ruby's 'perfect' Christmas tree while Max just wants to visit with Santa Claus. He disappears several times when they aren't watching him and finally does get to visit with Santa
