Dragon Knights #2.5

Master at Arms

Rate this book
"One dragon to play matchmaker two knights to serve a lady s every pleasure. "

"Dragon Knights, Book 2.5"

When the call to arms goes out, the dragon Golgorath is the first to take to the skies. Until he finds a knight to equal his heart and fighting skill, Rath flies alone while his mate must wait for her knight, Thorn, to climb on her back. The battleground is a familiar one, an old keep, a noble house without a patriarch, under attack from the evil, snake-like skiths.

Lady Cara can fight, but knows better than to try to lead men. With her brother wounded, she relies on her new Master at Arms, Tristan. He is a mysterious, recklessly brave foreigner who can never be hers, as she is to be married off to the highest bidder.

Amidst the battle, Rath spies the warrior doing the impossible slaying a skith single-handed. Rath realizes fate may have just stepped in to help both dragons and men. In Tristan, Rath sees a man worthy of being his knight and, together with Thorn, win Lady Cara's heart into a triad of love. If Tristan's loyalties can first be won by dragonkind.

When two dragons really want something, it's best not to stand in their way. And when their knights are focused on a single woman, nothing and no one will stop them from getting what they want. Beware! This trio gets up to all kinds of naughtiness in the pursuit of true love.

This was a lot of fantasy and world building to dive into without having read any other books in this series. That’s my own fault, but despite jumping in headfirst the author did a great job explaining the dragons, their knights, and how mating between the five parties involved works. The writing transported me back in time to classic literature and fantasy styles, which was refreshing. Although it was scarce on the smut, when it was present it was spicy. This novella made me smile and I enjoyed reading it.

It was alright. Its been a while since I was last in this world. I forgot how much the author tells and not shows. The last quarter or even 3rd of the book was very much showing and not telling, and a very passive voice. So it felt like she was just trying to wrap it up because the characters had sex and were going to become partners and didn't really care about the story at that point. Literally the remaining drama was just told.
Hope the next one is better.

My favorite of the novellas so far.

This fits into the series either after book one or between book two since it covers the skirmishes with Skithdron but doesn’t touch on any big huge battle.

This can definitely be read as a standalone or out of order since the author summarizes the world throughout the story. The heat is still up there but not as often as the other stories. Probably my favorite pairing because there was more back story into each character.

A knight and his keep’s lady, fated mates, dragon riders and hidden identities revealed. Plus battle scenes and a lady who fights with her men at arms.

Fantastic Fantasy Novel

I started reading this series band was drawn into the chapters and imagination of an exceptional writer. The characters come to life with her very careful development of her characters each with unique personality. I adore the interactions between human and dragon. So personal they come to life for me at least. I even have titled when something humorous happened. Very unique series.

I picked the book up on a whim and it definitely didn't disappoint. The way dragons and humans and their bond is depicted is top notch and I adored the lore. Even if it's a shorter book, it's packed to the brim with good storytelling and intriguing character. My only concern was that the two main male characters were named similarly but in the end, I was able to keep track of both of them separately.

3.5 stars. My favorite of the series so far (having read 1-4 and 1.5), and would have been a 4 except the problematic writing made the resolution with Envard just weird and painful. Again, thus author has great ideas and mediocre writing.

Another good read

The only thing I felt was wrong with this book that it wasn't long enough, otherwise it was a nice book to read, I expected more. It just fell short of a brilliant read

This short novel in the 'Dragon Knights' fantasy series begins with battle and injuries, as the poison-spitting beasts called skiths are driven to attack by the invading Skithdron army. In Draconia the mighty dragon Rath has come to the Border Lair to teach young fighting dragons. A new MASTER AT ARMS kills a skith single-handedly, to Rath's astonishment. This man, Tristan, has left another country because some people wanted to set him up in competition for the throne.

Lady Cara, a fine swordswoman, helps in defence of her keep and then attends to healing injuries, of people and dragons. She did think she had a potential mate in Tristan once, but because she was the daughter of the house, he walked away. He's just a common soldier after all. A knight, Sir Thorn, also desires Lady Cara, and he's partnered with a crafty dragoness....

If you have been following this adult series you can guess where this will go, but otherwise you'll learn about dragon and human partnerships and the requirements of mated sets, of which telepathy is just one. Draconia's politics are not aired, just its difficulties, which helps beginners get into the story. Lady Cara is a good strong character much like Eowyn in The Lord of The Rings. Fans of Bianca D'Arc will be keen to meet Tristan and see where his eventful life leads in this strong romance.

Heather's Notes
This was a cute short story. I liked Thorn, Cara, and Tristan. I liked that Tristan put Cara before what he may want. I even liked what they found out about the brother. It was all good, and I will definitely continue the series.

I enjoyed "Master at Arms." It's a quick read in the Dragon Knights series. Nice little side story. I enjoyed the characters and dragons in this short story as well as seeing more of Draconia, it's people and dragons.

This short story was just that a cute short read. It had the elements I enjoyed from the Dragonlord series; finding the end results rather satisfactory to my liking. I enjoy the writer's writing style and imagination.

I really liked this one compared the one before it. This one showed how the relationship developed between the 3 of them instead of instant love. I highly recommend this one.
