"I'm going to give you memories to last a lifetime, Genevieve Cain. I promise you that."

With a loser ex-boyfriend threatening her dream business, Sweet Seduction, Genevieve Cain is forced to go to a lawyer to finalise things once and for all. Gen knows she's only good for one dream in her lifetime, so when she meets senior partner, Dominic Anscombe, in the foyer of the law firm's building, she dismisses any delusional ideas her mind creates involving his very fine body. But Dominic is intrigued by Gen's run-away mouth and if there's one thing to say about Dominic Anscombe, he knows what he wants and when he finds it, he sets out to take it, claim it and possess it - completely.

Kidnappings, shootings, dream-shattering moments, hot investigators and just as hot lawyers, everything comes to a head when Genevieve sacrifices something so precious for something even more so. And it wasn't the sacrifice she thought she'd make. The sweetest of sacrifices, the most worthy offering. But can she believe Dominic has fallen as hard for her as she has for him in such a short time? And can she allow herself a second dream in her life, by letting him in?

Love at first sight has never been so dangerous and so very delicious at the same time.

Well, where to start? I wanted to like Gen. I really liked some of her attributes but most of the time she was driving me crazy. Her character was almost contradicting itself the entire book. I couldn't quite keep up with it. And the way her brain went to the absolute dumbest conclussions (ie: birth control) really grated my nerves. I felt like this book could have been better if the word DREAM wasn't mentioned 5,254 times. It was distracting. I know it's just one word but seriously, I get it! You're passionate about your business. That's good but please stop being so whimsical every time you discuss it. The instant attraction thing doesn't "do it" for me but I know authors are trying to speed the storyline along. So, I just went with it. Overall, it was an ok read. I'm guessing Kelly's the next installment of the series. She seems to have more of a backbone so I may be persuaded to continue with her story.

OK….

You all know that feeling when you finish a book and your like…

OH YEAHH….. GIMME GIMME GIMME MORE!!!
I NEED MORE OF THIS NOW……

This one was of those ones.

Like really bad! I practically devoured this, then quickly went on to devour the second one.

This was abso-fucking-lutely, posi-fucking-tively AWESOME!!!!

Genevieve has worked hard for her dream. 'Sweet Seduction on High'. The place to be, delicious coffee, chocolate treats and a kick ass music store.
Dealing with an Ex that just won't take no for an answer. Gen has to take things to the next level.
Gen is still being pursued by her ex whom she kicked out a year ago, he won't let go and now is threatening to take her for half of everything she owns.
Not prepared to lose Sweet Seduction, she needs a lawyer.

Genevive meets Dominic in the elevator on her way to meet her lawyer.
Dominic, who turns out to be senior partner of said law firm, is holy hot sexy, commanding, possessive, total alpha-male.

Yes this was a fall in love 1st sight and yes he is persistent.
I'm not usually a fan of Insta -love, but this was believable.

Nicloa Claire does a perfect job of slowly building up the tension between these two.

Dom is definitely going to the top of my HHA list (HOLY HOT ALPHA)

MY GOD I LOVED HIM!
He was not afraid to tell her exactly how he felt about her.

~"Sweetheart, give us a chance. Trust me. We'll get through this, we'll get Elliott sorted and we'll get your life back. I have every intention of being a part of it when we do. Know this, the more you push me away, the more intrigued I become. I haven't had this much fun in a long time, Genevieve. I'm not about to walk away from something so delightfully addictive any time soon, so stop running."~

Yes Ladies we have a runner…
Normally a woman like Gen would of annoyed the shit out of me, but I really did enjoy her.
Yes she cried.. A lot.
I would too if I went through what she did. And she did try to push Dom away but that just made it so much more fun. Dom was awesome, he loved it.
I loved how Gen just always rambled on. Hahaha the stuff she came out with.

As Gen's crazy Ex puts her in harms way, Dom and his close connections, i.e. The sexy team of lawyers and security guys, will do anything to protect her.
Things get crazy and intense, it's action packed and fast paced from the get go.

This totally had it all,
JAM packed full of hot guys, make that hot ALPHA guys, kidnappings, shoot outs, near death escapes and smoking hot sex. What more could you want?

OH some swoon worthy moments from our Dominic. Yes there were lots of them.

~"That, sweetheart," He whispered into my hair as he curved my body into his under the bed covers,"was the most exquisite love making I have ever experienced in my life. You are most definitely paradise, do you know that? My paradise."~

~"You fought like a hell-cat to get away. You didn't go quietly, once you knew Katie was safe, you gave it everything you had." I watched him swallow visibly. "You jumped out of a moving vehicle to escape a fate worse that death. No fear. Amazing."
"Aren't you mad at me?" I asked in surprise.
"Furious," He whispered. ~

And the Sex,
Nicola Claire definitely knows how to get to the sexy times. Every time Dom growled or muttered "Christ" I was gone for.

~"I'm going to make you come and I'll drink it all down. Then I'm going to fuck you slowly to begin with, teasing another orgasm out of that sweet, sweet pussy making you beg for more. Then when you're putty in my hands, so sated you can't lift a single limb off the bed, I'm going to flip you over and take you hard. That's for me, because I know watching you come, is going to be my downfall. I almost came watching you against my front door yesterday. Watching you come when I'm inside you, is simply too much, sweetheart."~

I loved everything from start to finish.
Loved all the secondary characters. I really want all of them to have their own book!

I picked this up after reading a few reviews that said if you enjoyed Kristen Ashley's Rock Chick series you would like this.
I don't like comparing authors or books in reviews, but if I am being honest I might not of picked it up if I hadn't of read that.
Being a huge K.A fan I will always read something that is said to be similar as I love that style.

Sweet Seduction Sacrifice definitely has the same feel, But Nicola Claire has her own style and flare.
If you enjoy K.A's style of writing of an alpha male then this one is for you.

I can not wait for the rest of the series.

Ok, I have been struggling between a 3 or 4 star for this. I liked it, certain parts I really liked, but other parts, to be quite honest, I just did not get!

It had a very KA Rock Chick vibe, but after about 20% I found myself no longer noticing, or looking for similarities, and was drawn into the story.

First things first, the h mentions the name of her shop, over 100 times! it is constant and too much by the end. My dream Sweet Seduction, my dream, Sweet Seduction, Sweet Seduction We even get it in the epilogue I nearly lost my dream, Sweet Seduction and I am just like, bloody hell woman, I know! I know it is your dream and it is called Sweet Seduction! Just say my shop, once! I think the name of the shop, is mentioned 4 times in the space of 1 paragraph at one point!

Also, why is she convinced she only gets one dream? You know, her dream, Sweet Seduction. She had a good childhood, loving parents, a protective older brother!

We are lead to believe, it is due to the ex! Who at the start is made out to be nothing more than a bit of a buffoon, that she does not much like, and thinks took her for a bit of a ride, but nothing too much to write home about. By the end of the book he is a kidnapping emotionally abusive git! It just never came across as enough, for the relationship, whilst it was a relationship and before the book started, to have beaten her down so much, she thinks she only gets one dream ever, and is undeserving of anything else.

For about half of the book, she constantly says she would do anything to save her shop ( and no I am no going to name it!!) even go back to the dickhead ex! Yet, part of the reason she loves her shop so much, was because it was a haven away from said dickhead ex! So ok! But, it is her dream, her only dream,, she will do anything to save it! Even make the rest of her life miserable!

But, I did like the h, Gen, thought she was a bit daft and rather tapped in the head at points, but I was willing to go with it, as despite it all, I still rather liked her.

Her wondering how a man, who has manicured nails is going to protect her, and when he does got all macho rambo she is;

"Didn't think you had it in you...What with the manicures and silk shirts and highly polished shoes"

And Dominic! I love a man who is not afraid to lay it out and lay himself bare! He was so loving and tactile and perfectly willing to help Gen through her issues, even while not letting on that he was doing so, so as to keep her at ease and not freak out.

But, there were certain things in the book that came across as very contrived and forced purely to force in a bit of tension.

For example:

But, given all that, I did really like the book (no really!), I liked the main characters and I liked the secondary characters. So, it is a 3.5 stars for me, as I did enjoy it. It just had a fair share of eye rolling moments for me.

Whew I really struggled to finish this book....the heroine Gen made this book horrible...she was just dumb as hell literally doing stupid shit. They tell her not to leave the house because its safe, what does she do she leaves the house and wonders why she was almost shot. I could wax on and on about this simple broad but I just don't have the time...Secondly, Sweet Seduction Sacrifice was like a Kristen Ashley knock off a cheap badly written knock off..but still a knock off...I felt like one of those girls who buy those knock off Coach purses where the C's look like crooked G's.

Note the similarities:
3 siblings 2 boys one girl
The second sibling owns a security agency
Kristen Ashley names the guys the hot bunch, Nicola Claire names her group the hot rush bunch
The coffee shop
The guys grew up with each other
The coffee shop is video surveillanced
The Hot Rush Bunch have their meetings at the coffee shop

The point I'm trying to make here is if you're going to steal someone's swag well damn do it right. Do it better but don't be lazy and just throw some shit together.

I didn't buy the insta love on Dominics' part it felt forced ,and the sex scenes were boring. All in all give this book a pass. If you're looking for a KA fix Keep strolling pass Sweet Seduction Sacrifice cause this was a BIG FAIL.

I really liked 80% of the story. It was funny, romantic, sexy and even action-packed. Gen was annoying at times, but I liked her. Dom was a hot Alpha male, even though he didn't sound like himself after the 80% mark. I think the book would have been just fine without the last 12%.

3.5 stars

3.5 stars. Going a little manic on this rather cute rambling story… All up on the guys, it’s a Holy Hotness Batman plethora of gorgeous maleness involving Dominic Anscombe (our hero) and his dreamy legal group, ADK, as well as his sexy brother Nick’s security/investigation team, ASI. The h/Genevieve on the other hand was just TSTL, so I have mixed emotions here.

New author for me, from New Zealand, and I love a foreign author AND I heard rumblings that this story had a Kristen Ashley (KA) quality to it. I was all in.

What worked and what didn’t:

Dominic/H and the sexy team of lawyers and security guys, a big thumbs up. Although I have to question Mr. Hotness’s mental wellbeing to lust after the heroine who’s an idiot. Warning…if you’re the type who has the strong desire to throw your e-reader after reading numerous stupid acts by a lead character – BEWARE!

A KA likeness…kinda. There’s a sort of Rock Chickesque quality. Yes, there’s a coffee shop but only a couple of scenes are played out there. A security/investigation group…a la Nightingale Investigations with plenty of big bossy alpha male hotties – a definite YES! It’s a New Zealand/Kiwi Hot Bunch so to speak. Was the heroine a bit dingy (putting it mildly) while resisting the truly wonderful, hunkalicious male in pursuit – Abso-freaking-lutely! Which to me is insane, I’d have dropped my drawers in a heartbeat for ole Dom, however, the males in these type stories dig this shit so, that’s the way this story rolls. Is there a mad cap zany chase involving bad guys and guns? You betcha. However, KA’s Rock Chick stories always have some light humor…no humor here. But those are the similarities.

The heroine/Gen/Genevieve. In a word– TSTL. Or words I should say – that’s right too freaking stupid to live. While deciding to take legal action against her worthless ex-boyfriend to stop him from taking half her coffee shop in a threatened common law legal maneuver, she encounters the most beautiful guy she’s ever seen/Dom. (LOL! Yea he could easily be a Dom, but never mind, this is not that kind of story). Dom is the wealthy senior partner in his law firm and evidently this guy could stop traffic with his good looks. Gen has no idea who he is and after an awkward exchange of silly banter in the lift he follows her into the legal office. We find out later that during this chance encounter Dom was beaten big time by the “love at first sight” stick. The guy is smitten, overwhelmed by our ditzo heroine (poor guy, no accounting for taste). Gen’s lawyer, Finn Drake is no slouch either. This Gen must have some kind of enchanted aura because Finn gets a case of the “I want her” vibe as well. That’s ok, I strongly suspect Finn gets the girl in another bk. In the meanwhile Brett, the ex, has a gambling problem and owes some mobster big bucks. He’s not about to let Gen, his meal ticket, out of their relationship and he wants/needs her back. Gen is caught in the middle and Brett stirs up all kinds of drama with a couple of kidnappings and some shoot em’ up stuff. While the legal/security alpha males rally behind our girl to keep her safe, Dom has taken charge as only a big bossy alpha male can. Dom’s intense feelings and actions towards Gen are swoon worthy. Gen, stupidly resists and keeps threatening to take Brett back so she can keep her coffee/music/chocolate shop because it’s her dream. The guys work day and night to keep Gen safe all the while she resists and does the ridiculous to get herself and others stuck in dangerous situations.

If you’re still reading, this is where the danger of kindle throwing comes in. Because despite repeated kidnappings and hospital visits the girl would still rather have Brett back than potentially lose her coffee shop in a legal battle she really doesn’t have much of a chance of losing. This girl goes over the top allowing her fears to paralyze her. During all this Gen also reflects or has page long head ramblings that I decided early on to skip. After you’ve read a few of these, you’re not missing any of the same recycled thoughts that continue. While still adding up the less than stellar Gen attributes, another big no-no for me was Gen puts Dom off his repeated attempts to have sex until well over 50% of the bk. Not that Dom doesn’t try his seductive best. Score another negative big one for dummy Gen.

To conclude, Gen finally pulls her head out of her ass, Dom finally gets the girl and his HEA, Brett’s in the past, and things are looking up for potential bk 2 candidates. Despite the negatives, the cast here is a keeper, save the stupid heroine. Plenty of hot guys for the next girl up, even Gen’s ex-military brother (no shortage of alpha’s to go around in this series). The next female lead? Don’t know…maybe Gen’s BFF Kelly that runs the coffee shop who would rather pursue than be pursued could give one of the guys an interesting chase as well as Dom’s sister Katie who I suspect has the I don’t want him/I do’s for Gen’s bro Jason.

Will I read bk 2? Surprisingly yes, throwing caution to the wind here…the author could surprise me and wrap these great group of guys around a more likeable heroine next time. I wasn’t a fan of the Rock Chick bks until bk 3 and that paid off. So…we’ll see.

The first book in Nicola Claire's Sweet Seduction series. Genevieve "Gen" Cain is trying to get rid of her ex-boyfriend, Brett. When he threatens to take her coffee shop she goes to a lawyer to see if she has a case. There she meets Dominic Anscombe. He's not her lawyer but he is the boss at the law firm. It is discovered that Brett is involved in some bad business and Gen could be in danger because of it. Dom takes over her protection whether she wants it or not.

I saw this series mentioned as being similar to Kristen Ashley so I checked it out and the first book was free on Amazon Kindle. So I snatched it up. I guess there is a very slight resemblance to KA in that its written in 1st person point of view and some of the language and, of course, the independent woman who is in trouble but fights getting any help. Oh, and the hotties! But it is set around the world from Colorado in gorgeous New Zealand. I must also say I have never ran across a KA heroine that irritated me as much as this one did. Seriously, she really got on my nerves! But I loved the story itself and the hero was awesome! I would recommend this to KA fans and fans of Romantic Suspense with a stronger romance element that enjoy a little more heat in their stories.

I will continue the series with hopes that there are no more TSTL heroines.

What happens when you have a greedy ex-boyfriend who is a little crazy and he is trying to wreak havoc on your life by messing with the dream business you have worked so hard to make a reality? You go to the most prominent law firm in town, of course and do everything you can to defend what is rightfully yours!

This is exactly the predicament Genevieve Cain finds herself in the middle of in this first installment of the SWEET SEDUCTION Series, SWEET SEDUCTION SACRIFICE.
I was immediately engrossed in the story of this totally loveable heroine’s life.

Author Nicola Claire makes quick work of introducing the main players while maintaining an air of mystery and building the delicious sexual tension I crave in romance novels.

Gen is one of those characters you root for – even when she is making stupid decisions. She is one smart cookie when it comes to everything BUT men! She is spunky and has the most delightful way with words, especially when she gets nervous – it is totally endearing!

Brett is a total piece of shit. Unfortunately for Gen, he is her ex-boyfriend and just like a piece of shit, the stink lingers long after Gen wises up and kicks him out for good.

Then, there is the good stuff! “Dominic god-like Anscombe” is all bad assed, dominant deliciousness wrapped in a thousand-dollar suit – just the way I like ‘em! Don’t forget his entourage of hotties – I have high hopes that author Nicola Claire has a few more stories up her sleeves that include the remaining bachelors getting their happily ever after! With they way the story was left, I smell the possibility of a ménage…

This is a first for me by this author and you can bet it won’t be my last! This is a great read for anyone who loves contemporary romance novels combined with a little action and suspense.

I fell in love with Nicola Claire's paranormal "Kindred" series awhile back, so when I had the chance to read and review this book in exchange for an honest opinion; I jumped at the chance! I was not disappointed, and I felt greatful that I was given the chance to read this entertaining Contemporary Romance.
"Sweet Seduction Sacrifice" is the first book in what promises to be a wonderful, exciting series. Nicola has set the stage for many more books in the future, with extremely likeable characters and hot, sexy alpha males. This book stars Genevieve Cain; who is a coffee shop owner, and Dominic Anscombe, a sexy lawyer who is alpha male to the extreme. When these two meet in the hallway of his office building, the sparks literally fly and there is no turning back for these two. Although they fall in love almost from the start, it is far from smooth sailing for the couple. There is never a dull moment, and they end up dealing with psycotic exes, kidnappings, and interuptions from well meaning siblings before they can even dream of any kind of HEA.
The bonus with this story is that there is not just one alpha male; but Dominic's partner in his law firm, plus a few smoking hot bodyguards, and let's not forget Gen's brother from the army. So many men to enjoy, and I am crossing my fingers that there will be future books with each one of these hotties. Gen's best friend Kelly, and Dominic's sister Katie are on the radar of some of these fine men, so I am pretty positive I will get to escape into this world again!
My only complaint, that caused me to rate this book four stars instead of five was that there were a few phrases that I found were over used. Genevieve was constantly biting the bottom of her lip, and Dominic always "coughed-which-could have been a laugh". These two phrases were in this book so much, it tended to get on my nerves; but other than that; this was an entertaining story that I will continue on with any future books that come.

After having a revolving door with her ex-boyfriend, Genevieve Cain has had enough. She tried, but really what more can she do when he stole from her and now is trying to claim her coveted shop. Genevieve decides to be proactive and hire a lawyer to solver all of her problems for her, because keeping her head in the sand just is not working.

When she meets senior partner, Dominic Anscombe she catches her breath, he is breathtaking. When Dominic inserts himself in not only her case, but her life Genevieve decides to take matters into her own hands so she doesn't get her heart broken by Dominic. Dominic however is playing for keeps and if he can get his sweet and delightfully funny woman to be on board everything will be perfect, but Genevieve has a way of keeping him on his toes.

If you like the Rock Chick series, this one is right up your alley. I thought this was hilarious and didn't want it to end. Dominic is determined in getting what he wants, while Genevieve spends a lot of time in her head running things through. Definitely picking up more in this series, has a group of hotties that I can't wait to read more about.

Just what I needed when I needed it...

I bat signaled my readers when I was going through some Kristen Ashley withdraws. DT's, the shakes...a few hallucinations. I needed a fix. Smoke it, snort it, inject it...this was my fix.

Action, sex, hot alpha-males around every turn. Kick ass best friends, more than lovable secondary characters, and...and...did I mention sex? I definitely got my fix and now I'm high.

High on Dominic, our loving, passionate, domineering alpha-male with a devotion to Gen that is such a turn on. However, this alpha-male travels in a pack and I fell in love with them all. They have a purpose, and that purpose is to keep their women safe.

I was hooked from beginning to end. The fine line between possessive and protection is often blurred, but Dominic can blur my lines any day!

A great read for Kristen Ashley fans!

READ ON!

Borrowed this book and I enjoyed the premise to some extent, the heroine was TSTL for me. While I have a high tolerance for dramatics, but even I just wanted to punch her.

If she said dream once, she said it a million times and I was happy that certain things happened to her in the story. . She would continually refer to her own stupidity, and I found myself agreeing with her every time. She was an idiot.

Perhaps if there had been some character development in the beginning of the book where I could learn to like her before she decided to run into danger multiple times, all to save her "dream," I might have cared more but I spent more time calling her an idiot and wondering why Dominic was interested in her, and why so many loved her.

I may read the next book but I'm sincerely hoping that the heroine in that one is much smarter and sympathetic and that it's shown to me, not told to me.

Sweet Seduction is my first Contemporary Romance/Romantic Suspense Series and one very close to my heart. Dedicated to those out there who, like me, have fallen in love at first sight. It does exist - I'm living proof of that.

I enjoyed this. Fun, fast paced and well written with a good story and a collection of yummy alpha men. As other have said, not unlike Kristen Ashley, but not so much of a rip off that you feel cheated out of the real thing. Am going to read the next one in the series.

Like Kristen Ashley, except with fewer run-on sentences and more Kiwi flair. If you're in Rock Chick withdrawal, then this is the series for you. There's even a Fortnum's -- excuse me, Sweet Seduction, only they sell CDs, not books. Too bad it also comes with a decorative TSTL doormat. I really wanted to like this one, as evidenced by the fact that this didn't end up in my DNF pile, but I just don't see myself returning to this series in the future.

Wow I've found a new author that will be on my auto read list, Nicola Claire has a way with words most authors can only dream about. Her world building is beautiful and her story telling is engrossing. I was instantly pulled into Sweet Seduction Sacrifice(Sweet Seduction #1) and loved every minute of it. The way Nicola describes things in this book is amazing and I have only found a handful of authors that can write like that.

Genevieve owns a coffee/chocolate/music shop and it's her dream she worked hard to get it and make it her own so when her ex boyfriend threatens her dream she finds a lawyer. On the way she meets Dominic not knowing he is one of the partners of the firm all she knows is that she has never met anyone like him. When she runs into him again at her shop she is stunned, when she hears her ex has people looking for him and that she may be targeted she knows her world has turned upside down.

So when Dominic suggests they get dinner she excepts. Soon Genevieve finds out that Dominic is just as attracted to her as she is to him and Dominic doesn't accept no's, he has his sights set on Genevieve and he won't accept anything else. When it becomes more and more obvious Genevieve is in greater danger than they thought she is placed in Dominic's house to keep her safe, and now she has nowhere to run from Dominic and even if she did he's made it known he will chase her till he has what he wants.

This was a great book, it was funny, and fast paced, and chucked full of hot guys everywhere you turned. I loved Dominic he was domineering, possessive, obsessive, commanding, strong, smart, loving, and kind. Genevieve was hilarious and a great herione. Not only do we get great main characters, we also get fantastic side characters that I grew to love just as much as Genevieve and Dominic. It's very obvious that Nicola Claire grew to love her characters by all the time and care she put into them, a lot of authors do this with the hero and heroine, but not as many spend the energy as she did with the side characters and it really paid off. I have found myself at times wanting to rush through bits in books that focus on side characters because I'm not as invested in them and I never felt that way in this book. I loved reading about everyone in this book, and she made me very excited about the books to come.

I've said this before that I am getting tired of the drawn out series focusing on one couple, don't get me wrong I still have several that I love but when it becomes almost every series it's frustraiting because I feel like the author is sacrificing quality for quantity, at some point the main characters just need to have their happily ever after. So I was very excited to see that each of the book in this series will have differrnt main characters. I can't wait for their story's to be told.

I'm giving this 4.5 stars.
I picked this one out to read because it was compared to Kristen Ashley.
What I can say is that yes, if you are looking for a KA feel to a story, this book is for you.
What I did NOT like about this book (but as you can see it didn't make it totally suck for me) is a couple things.
1) The hero kind of crossed the line from Alpha to D*ck pretty easy. To the point, where I was like....um exxxsqqqueeezzzeeee me Alpha love of my life? Did you just say that? To me, our Alpha's need to come across as extreme....but not to the point where he calls our heroine a bitch because of a misunderstanding....one that, honestly, wasn't bad.....
2) The author tended to make things that weren't a big deal into a ...well... big of deal (see # 1), leaving the reader wondering what just happened.
3) The heroine's issues. Yes, I get it, she has had man issues and is hard to trust, but DAMN GINA! she just acted dumb. She would go over and over in her head how she just met the hero less than 2 days ago, but then get upset when he takes a phone call and leaves without telling her who it was. I'm sorry, but if you're worried and convincing yourself that the relationship isn't important because it's been less than 2 days, than what the hell is to you when he leaves and says he'll contact you later. Really? It was things like this that refer back up to my #2.
4) The mini story that ran along side everything and ALL of a sudden 2 weird phone calls the hero took turned out he had some lady on the side that went psycho on him and he had her committed. I mean, maybe if it ran along in a similar way to Fifty's story and his crazy ex sub, I would get it, but the way this happened it was just sprung on us with no real leading up to it. Not bad, just confusing.
5) I'm giving the heroine's issues another number, because that's how much she bothered me. Seriously, she didn't even convince herself how much she loved the hero until she took the bullet for him. I mean, so much internal dialogue of back and forth, it's too soon, it's not too soon, he likes me but doesn't love me, he wants me, but takes phone calls, he breathes, he poops, blah blah blah, I mean I just wish she wasn't so wishy washy. It was done to that point where it was just nails on a chalk board after a while. You can do the wishy washy heroine, but even those women make up their mind soon enough to not affect the story...at least to me.
So would I recomment this, YES! No cheating, Alpha Male (no tats, but hey - in my head, he had a few) and similar to Kristen Ashley. It had its funny parts too.

Hot lawyers, hot security private investigators, one coffee shop owner, one loser ex bf.

Genevive meets Dominic in an elevator on her way to see a lawyer about fending off her ex bf from taking away her livelihood. Gen is still being pursued by her ex whom she kicked out a year ago but Dominic, who turns out to be senior partner of law firm, is in hotter pursuit. Yes, there is insta lust between them and that’s when the fun begins.

"It's too late now, sweetheart."
What? "Too late?" I asked dumbly.
"Yeah, too late," he whispered. "You've intrigued me, captured my attention. I won't let you go now. That is why you should be scared."

Gen has diarrhea of the mouth when nervous so she's pretty funny. And of course guileless and unassuming, bit naïve. She's skittish because 1) she feels Dom is way out of her league; 2) she's let her ex walk all over her and is embarrassed her brother, friends and now Dom knows her past. She always has a tendancy to sweep issues away. Avoidance is her middle name so a misunderstanding kind of festers for most of the story.

Dominic is all alpha male, won't take no for any answer, is in her personal space all the time, and protective. Dom isn’t a help with her neurosis because he's damn secretive about his life but is aggressively and quietly setting a claim on her. He wants to make her see her way out of her mess with ex and other bad men who are after her to get to ex.

Between kidnappings, shoot outs, near death escapes, Gen realizes she can have her second dream with Dom. SSS covers a two week period, with an epi 3 months later. It was a fun story. And if you're a fan of KA, you should enjoy SSS, too.

I gotta say, I adored this book. Ms. Claire already demonstrated to me how well she could write paranormal when I read, Kindred, (book one in her seriously fantastic vampire series)...and here we go again. This read was exciting, well written, fun as all get out and not unlike a Kristen Ashley read - whom I also adore.

Alpha-male, Dominic and "don't push me around", equally strong, Genevieve Cane are exquisite together. Just when you think things are gong to happen for them, something or someone seems to stop their momentum, but never for too long. The banter they share is intense, sexy-hot, witty and sometimes hilarious which is one of the many reasons I fell in love with them both. At times when things might become too much to handle Gen's emotions would take over, but not for long if Dominic had anything to say about it - which he usually did. Yep, another reason to make a girl swoon!

Oh, and did I mention there's lots action, too? Gen's ex boyfriend, Brett, is not only a loser, but also a manipulator, abuser and a thief and when Dominic sees just how badly Genevieve is treated in his presence, let's just say, all hell breaks loose and quickly. I mean, what girl wouldn't want a god-like alpha male defending her honor? Uh, huh...and does he ever.

If you're looking for a fantastically fun, well told romance/action/HOT/SEXY read, look no further. This, my friends is seriously your book! Thanks for the ride, Ms. Claire!

I stopped reading this book at 30%. The h was just TSTL. She made way too many bad decisions when it came to her ex. How could someone like that have a successful business? Especially one that involves understanding what people want. I did not find her to be a capable person. Her desperate need to save her shop bordered on pathetic when she contemplated going BACK to the ex. At that point I just didn't care if she lost it or not. I was also disappointed at the lack of chemistry btw the H and h. The H seems instantly smitten with the h but she had no problem keeping him at arms length. I kept thinking, why didn't she show her ex this type of backbone? It seemed like 2 different people. Even though I did not enjoy this book I will definitely continue this series. I have been told that the other books are better than this one.

Um...I'd heard that this was KA-like. Well, for me...not that much. But, I can see how it could be taken that way...due to some 1st person "heroine is stuck in her head" language, and there being a bit of a HOT Bunch going on. Anyway, the book was light and fun, with some action, and this author has some potential if this is a beginning of a series because of the characters, especially the hero's brother, Nick, and the heroine's brother, Jason, as well. The two made a bit of an impression and I want to read their stories.

I want to say that the heroine made some WTF decisions and almost acted TSTL, but actually in some parts I saw her as brave, even though she gave me a bit of an Indy Savage vibe (and there is where I guess the KA-like quality ends for me, LOL).

Oh. My. God. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Loved it! This I have decided is my favorite kind of book. If I could just read books like this all the time I would forever be happy. This book has everything I love to read. I loved all the characters, the story, the drama, the humor, everything. If you like Kristen Ashley's Rock Chick series you will absolutely love this book. This is not a copy but the same type of book. That is all. I have to start the next one!

Wow. It's a pretty straight rip-off of Kristen Ashley's books.

This is a fast-paced romance about Genevieve - a business owner who is running from an ex, and Dominic - a lawyer who falls in insta-love with her. The book reminded me of Kristen Ashley’s Rock Chick in the sense that the heroine needs help, the hero is a badass super alpha male, he protects her, they fall in love, and they have an amazing posse of badass friends, most with military backgrounds.
The writing was good but I had a hard time liking the MCs. Gen was sometimes TSTL and Dominic was too possessive and persistent for my taste. I also desperately needed Dominic’s POV in order to understand him better. I don’t think Gen was interesting enough to hold the entire storyline together. Although she was sometimes endearing, she was mostly exasperating, making one dumb decision after another.
On the bright side, the story takes place in New Zealand, which I loved reading about. The group of friends were also interesting, including Dom’s sister. Overall it was enjoyable but I won’t be continuing with the series at this time.

This book was, to simply put it, shit. Many people have noticed the similarities with the Rock Chick series, but I gotta say this is like a cheap rip-off.

A coffee related place owned by the first heroine, which becomes the meeting place of the badass alpha guys? Check.

A collective term to refer to said guys? Check.

A family of three siblings - one girl and two guys? Check.

One of these men owns a security company, which connects all other hot dudes? Check.

Love interest forces heroine to move in with him because she's in danger? Check.

Some of the other men show interest in her? Check.

Unfortunately, the only thing she couldn't copy was the excellence of the Rock Chick series.

Gen:
She was THE most annoying person I have ever met. She started out great at the beginning, only for it to go downhill. She jumped to conclusions faster than the speed of light. One moment she's happy, then Dom takes a call (while he's not within touching distance)and suddenly he's cheating on her and there's the "other woman". She doubted him every two seconds.

The "misunderstandings" could literally be solved if someone said one specific word but noooooooo, you have to drag it out for 3 ridiculous pages in the name of "conflict". To see what I mean, this chick shows up in Dom's kitchen and immediately after Gen comments on how much they look alike, then finding out that they have the same surname, she decides that she's his sister wife. Which leads to her running away so Dom can catch up with her and call her out on being rude, NOT ONCE MENTIONING THE WORD "WIFE" OR "SISTER" (instead going with the totally vague "she", "her" and "that girl in there") so they can drag it out for "effect".

There's also another one (at the hospital) where the hero tells Gen about his crazy ex and how hard it was to deal with her while she was off her meds. A nurse comes in and informs Gen that any medication taken would have lost its effect after two days in a coma. Dom then asks her about her meds and "what to expect", making her flip out (like the lunatic she is) and she gives a 4 page monologue about how he's a douchebag for "not agreeing with contraception" (again, neither of them actually says "the pill" or "contraception", so Dom assumes she's schizophrenic and Gen assumes he's disgustingly old fashioned).

There was also a part where she's in the hospital (again.) and Finn tells her that her shop is now all hers and her stupid ex can't take it away from her. Then she starts crying (She cries all the time! All the damn time!!!!) And then:

"I'm sorry," Finn said. "Had I known she'd take it this badly, I wouldn't have announced it that way."

Dominic spoke over my sobbing head.

"This isn't badly," he announced. "She's relieved."

How the hell he knew that, I couldn't begin to fathom. He'd known me only a week and already had my number. I was relieved. I was so fucking relieved all I could do was cry.

HOW THE HELL HE KNEW THAT??? YOU'VE ONLY MENTIONED THE SHOP'S IMPORTANCE 65092 TIMES. WHEN SOMEONE FUCKING SHOT AT IT, DID YOU FUCKING DUCK? NO! YOU STARTED YELLING AT THEM FOR DAMAGING IT!!! YOU'RE A MORON!!! IT DOESN'T TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO FIGURE THIS SHIT OUT.

Ahem... I mean... Gosh, Gen! Get a life! Duh...

"The dream":
Yes. We get it. You love that shop. But acting like a psychotic, obsessive bitch and calling it your dream in every paragraph is so over the top.

Cheese factor 1000:
Don't get me wrong, I love the occasional heartfelt speech but NOT. ONE. ON. EVERY. FUCKING. PAGE.

Good god I hate this bullshit...
