Suffering is worst when you're doing it alone. But Emma's taking Hell like an angel-even though her languishing began with having her seraph wings torn from her back. Now her worst enemy lords his body and his evil desires over her while she tries desperately to remember the words to her favorite prayer. As Devil, Jack used to have Hell and its women humming like well-oiled machines. Too bad he's nowhere near the place now. Stuck on Earth as a human, he must work with a ragtag team of exiled minions and half-breeds to save the angel who's become all that matters. Rescuing a seraph is the plan, but breaking into Hell means letting evil things out. Once they collide, minions and angels converge in the battle of the ages: good versus evil. But which side is which? Will Jack destroy the world as he fights to save Emma, his true and timeless love, from a damnation he designed? An action-packed sequel to Crushed Seraphim, this tale reveals-time and again-what happens when the heart's deepest desires break free. With a story both sizzling and sensual, emotional and enigmatic, Debra Anastasia invites readers to join a battle with nothing less than love on the line.

A fallen angel and a Devil who’d obviously fallen in love.
This sequel to Crushed Seraphim was wonderful! Emma is just as fun and spunky as ever. I love how she is so sweet and loving, but snarky and brave at the same time! Jack... oh Satan Jack! I loved you more than ever in this book! We got to see a whole different side of Jack in this book. He is still sexy, charming and H-O-T! And funny! Emma and Jack were both so funny! I laughed so hard while reading this book- for an official list of some of the best name calling/insults open spoiler... Some more funny lines: “You might want to have Kate close her eyes if you ever want her to sleep with you, asshole. Because once I take off my pants, you’ll always come second.”
“Did you just pimp slap my ass with your angel hand?” “You better beware, hot stuff.”
“Wish I had a picture of you kissing that dude, though. Excellent blackmail material.” “What happens in the Hellhole stays there.” “Absolutely not. I’m telling everyone who holds still about how you and I made out with the same guy.” “Jack and I sucked face with Lucifer.” “I’m pretty sure now I can find my father without Mr. Oops-I-forgot-and-stuck-my-tongue-in-a-guy’s-mouth over there.”
I really enjoyed that there were several different stories. Bringing in Nero, Jenny, Kate, Violence and Rebecca was good. Plus we also got more of Jason and his half-breed siblings. They all came together perfectly. It made sense and wasn’t hard to follow. I could give a giant synopsis, but it would really take all day- plus give a huge part of the story away... so I’ll just say be prepared to laugh, smile, and have a minor freak out around 80% :D But don’t worry, it all works out okay!
I’ll leave you with some of my favorite Jack and Emma lines:
“I’m not leaving you. Right here, right now is the happiest I’ve ever been. I love you. That means I don’t leave. Sorry.”
“Hey, pretty child. You’re a sight for sore fucking eyes.”
“How can it be wrong? Love picks the right path, not the one of least resistance.”
She opened her eyes with a gasp. “I love you.” He had tears running a path down his face. He nodded. “Back at ya, pretty child. So, so much.”
“My love, I’d volunteer to live a thousand lives if I got to spend any part of them with you.”
“Okay, hows this? I’ve been to Heaven and Hell. I’ve seen the whole world, but the only thing that makes me want to live is this: being inside you. Say yes, pretty child. I love you so much. You’re all I see.”
If you read Crushed Seraphim, read this one!!!! So good!
Since reading Crushed Seraphim, I've been waiting and waiting for its sequel to find out what happened to Seraph Emma, Satan Jack, and half-breed Jason. Hardcore fans like me were left with a huge cliffhanger! From the creative mind of Debra Anastasia comes Bittersweet Seraphim, a satisfying, worthy sequel that not only ties up loose ends, but is also action-packed, highly emotional, and offers more of that special brand of humor we all loved in the first one.
If you're along for the ride the second time around, you're probably itching for more Satan Jack. Don't be alarmed when he doesn't appear in the story right away. Believe me, there is plenty of Jack and his wicked-sexy mind later on! What is in the beginning is the story of Nero and Jenny. At first I didn't know what to make of them, but as I read along, I grew to care so much for them. It turns out their story becomes integral to the plot.
Bittersweet Seraphim has a lot going on with various story lines swirling about. Jason, Dean, and Seriana, the half-breed siblings from the first book, all have major roles as Jack attempts to rescue Emma, who is stuck in Hell with her archenemy. There are challenges made that turn into fist-pumping brawls as a new ruler of Hell emerges. For Jason fans, you'll be drawn into how his HEA comes about. Jack is as brooding and swoon-worthy as ever, smart-aleck remarks and all. Its already been established in the last book why Jack and Emma belong together. Bittersweet Seraphim is all about these two fighting to be together against all odds in whatever plane of existence.
In my opinion, Ms. Anastasia did a superb job in giving her fans a sequel that is filled with more incredible and funny situations, fascinating sequences, and timeless romance that knows no bounds. For me, this is one of those stories that I fall more in love with the more I think about it long after I'm done reading it. Definitely worthy of 5 stars!
Ok...here's the truth, I was on about a 3 rating with this one until around 40% in. Don't get me wrong, I was enjoying the book, but I wanted more Jack. Can you blame me? Ultimately though, Bittersweet Seraphim was entertaining, unique, and sexy.
Now I like Emma, but Jack makes these books for me. He's funny, sexy, and he has the BEST lines. He could definitely melt my panties off in a flash. But what I love the most about him is how he loves. Despite the fact that he was the Devil, the love he has for Emma is pure. Jack is so dedicated to saving Emma and there is nothing that will stop him. Seriously, he's a gem.
As for the overall story, you definitely need to stay focused on what's happening. There are a lot of players involved in the story and they are all significant. It would be easy to get lost, if you aren't following along closely. Still, it truly is a fascinating action packed tale. And the ending....let's just say it was damn near perfect and I will say that I used quite a few tissues. The ending skyrocketed my rating for sure.
Debra Anastasia has such a unique style and her sense of humor matches my own. I became a fan of hers after reading Poughkeepsie. (You must read it if you haven't!) The Serphim Series sucked me in to Anastasia's world even more. She has a creative and brilliant mind for sharing stories that will take you on a wild ride!
I loved the introduction of Nero, Jenny and Kate at the start of the novel. While (being honest here) the reason I am sure everyone wanted to read this book was to get more of Jack and Emma, these new characters were a welcone and perfect introdution. I must say, of all the new introductions though,(slight spoiler) I really did develop a soft spot for Mine.
But of course, the true winners of your heart in this book are Jack and Emma. Their relationship is just as fiery and enthralling as the first book. We get to see a new side to both Emma and Jack, but this only works to make you love them more.
I loved this book from start to finish. Debra writes some of the most amazing and entertaining lines of any book I have read. I laughed so much throughout this book, and even cried.
I truely could not recommend this series of books more. I loved the first book, but this second was so much more. It was absolutley worth the wait.
I wasn't sure where she was taking me but I never doubted her! Debra Anastasia took me on a journey of laughter, tears, frustrations, steamy sex and I'm all the better for it!
Debra Anastasia is one of my favorite authors. There I said it. Her witty dialogue and imaginative stories never fail to reel me in. She isn’t afraid to write what she wants, even a fart joke here and there. Bittersweet Seraphim most definitely did not disappoint. It was all I expected and more.
Bittersweet is the follow up to Crushed Seraphim, in which we met Jack, Emma, and Jason, just to name a few. In this second book we join those three as well as a few new characters. Often times I’m leery of characters being added in on top of characters but not this time. I liked how our new friends’ stories were weaved in with those we already knew and loved.
Jack is back (hehehe) and he’s sexy and funny as ever. It's impossible not to love him, devil or not. He bleeds sarcasm and I adore that, which shouldn’t be a big surprise to most everyone that knows me. But my absolute favorite thing about him is his overwhelming love for Emma. Even while they are apart, he refuses to give up and his love for her holds strong. *sigh* If he were the mushy type, I’d have just climbed through the pages and hugged Jack. (Possibly I’d sneak in a grope.)
The bad thing is, Jack is back on earth as a human while his love is in Hell. Emma is caged up by the current devil, who likes to spend his days dishing out any form of abuse he can. Everett has never wanted anything but Emma and he thinks now that he has her trapped, he’ll get what he desires. Poor Emma tries to keep her mind focused on what she loves most, even though she no longer has her wings. Some days it’s hard to focus and remember why she’s there.
Though she doesn’t know it, Jack and the gang plan to break Emma out of Hell. *jazz hands*
Unfortunately they release minions on their way in, creating a bit of chaos on earth. A devilish twist I wasn’t expecting at all follows. I’m all about a book surprising me over and over-- Bittersweet does just that. Not only does the plot have a few twists but I enjoyed seeing the characters grow and evolve before my eyes. The characters I love (and even those I love to dislike) surprised me often and kept me on the edge of my seat.
I felt like the final chapter was the perfectly wrapped package with a beautiful bow on top. Fascinating and very enjoyable book. If you’re curious but uncertain about checking out Bittersweet, first I have to say, read Crushed first (obviously) so you can hurry on over to this one-- you won’t be disappointed. Who doesn’t want to read the story of the devil falling in love with an angel?? It’s a steal via amazon for kindle right now. You should go buy it.
BOOK REVIEW – Bittersweet Seraphim – Debra Anastasia.
Debra Anastasia really knows how to spin a tale! Whether it’s a kick-ass street brawling Brothers in the incredible ‘Poughkeepsie,’ or the hot devil himself in ‘Crushed’ and ‘Bittersweet Seraphim,’ there are no bounds to her talent as an author who jumps in and takes the literacy bull by the horns. She’s a ballsy, honest and very diverse writer who successfully manages to extend her irrefutable traits across separate genres.
Bittersweet Seraphim is the sequel to Crushed Seraphim, and if I’m honest, I wasn’t sure where the beginning was leading me. It didn’t start off with any of the characters from the first book; instead it introduced two completely new ones and the first 15% was consumed with a forbidden love between a Human and a Hell Minion – Jenny and Nero. But wow, when I fell in, I fell in deep! Their story also provided the perfect backdrop for later events, especially with the introduction of their half-breed Daughter, Kate. It mingled well within the overall workings of the story, which gave it substance and helped deliver a more complex plot than the first.
Satan-Jack did not disappoint in this sequel. He is hotter than hell, ladies! Seriously… he is one of my favourite characters and his 360° turnaround was still done in a way that didn’t detract from his original persona. He was the devil after all, and he didn’t go too pansy-assed on us even though he’s fallen hopelessly in-love with an Angel.
Jack will stop at nothing to break his love out of the confines of hell and away from Everett’s evil grasp. Everett – UGH! What a loser. I absolutely hated him. Emma, on the other hand is a beautiful character and her ability to bless you one minute and throw a dagger at the enemy the next made her a full-rounded and loveable heroine.
Jason, Seriana and Dean give this book the perfect and final message - that love comes in many forms. A half-minion family that will stop at nothing to protect each-other from the clutches of an abusive Grandfather who instils fear. His mission: to breed Seriana to produce stronger hellion offspring to strengthen his army and unleash evil on Earth.
As this unlikely group of savours intertwine, no one could ever have prepared them for the battle ahead. Especially when a triple rescue mission becomes so much more when Earth becomes compromised and it falls to an ex Devil, a full-blooded minion and a Half-Breed family to save it.
I cannot emphasise enough how great this series is and I can honestly say I enjoyed this 2nd book more than the first. Therefore I am awarding Bittersweet Seraphim a truly mind-blowing: 5 STARS
All in all, I really enjoyed the book. I loved how Jack’s character has evolved and of course I love the sizzling romance between Jack and Emma. I would have liked to jump right into their story instead of focusing on new characters and back story but overall it was a solid story.
I can’t WAIT to see how things end! I’m with Jack, let’s kidnap Debra Anastasia and take her to Hell unless she tells us how the story will end
Man, Debra Anastasia does not fuck around. I don't know what I expected from this book after reading Crushed Seraphim, but this book is definitely not it, and it is ABSOLUTELY LOVELY.
Will be rereading this. Maybe by then I'll be coherent enough to make a decent review.
Jack is back! He and his crew have to do something that no one has done before – break into Hell. Saving Emma is something that he should be able to do with a snap of his sexy and talented fingers but he is no longer the Devil and is now painfully human. He has gathered together a band of unlikely heroes to find her and defeat Everett, his successor down under.
Emma is dutifully doing her time in Hell and gladly surrendered her wings so that Jack could be safe and have his soul back. She is forced to endure Everett’s torments from inside a cage that Jack cleverly designed to keep the reigning Devil away from her. She never waivers from the path that God has set before her and finds strength in an unexpected place. God answers prayers and she knows that soon she will be delivered.
Jack and his gang of brave half breeds face what seems to be insurmountable hurdles to bust Emma out of Hell and it’s the supporting characters that add an amazing twist to Bittersweet Seraphim that will mark your heart and touch your soul.
I have waited (not so patiently, I might add) for Debra Anastasia’s next book. I knew it was going to be something special, but I couldn’t have imagined the incredible journey it would take me on. There is the epic love of Jack and Emma – a love between a devil and an angel. It should be doomed from the beginning but love has a funny way of surviving the impossible – even death. The new characters of Kate, Nero, Jenny, Seriana, Dean, Violent, Mine and our old friend Jason – add beautifully crafted layers of emotion and feeling to the story. Bittersweet Seraphim will make you cheer, make you cry and make you laugh out loud. Yes, it’s really that good…
Now this book deserves to be in my awesome list. The story just keeps getting better. And the adventure continues as Jack goes to Hell, literally to save his beloved angel, Emma.
First off, I really didn't get the first part of the book where there was no Jack or Emma or Jason or any of the characters from the previous book. But eventually after you've reached like somewhere in part two you'll get it. Part one, is another Hell and Earth romance, between Nero, the minion and Jenny, a human on Earth. Eventually, after their first time together, Jenny conceives a child, Kate, who has a role later on in part two.
In part two, we're back in present time where Crushed Seraphim left off. So, Jack is human but he still managed to get Jason and his siblings to help him get Emma back along with the help of, Violent. Now, this just creeped me out at first, Violent finds that Dean looks a lot like her late husband Giovanni and started hitting on him. Okay...
So it's adventure packed and there's quite a lot of unsuspected stuff that goes on and I'll cut it short to avoid spoilers. and the epic battle near the end of part two kinda made me lose hope for a happily ever after. But no worries, there's part 3.
In part 3 we go to their future. With all the couples and families going on with their lives. What I didn't expect is this. But first off, Thank you Debra for making me happy coz they still existed!! Who and what? That's a spoiler so I'll shut up and end the review to this awesome story now.
I want to just thank Debra Anastasia. This book was like a gift. I liked the first one, but I fell madly, deeply, and completely in love with Bittersweet Seraphim. We have more to the cast this time 'round. There's Jason and Emma and Jack, and Jack's siblings, and Everette, and God... oh, and Gabriel, and even Jack's ex makes an appearance. But now we get to meet Nero and Jenny, and their daughter Kate. And Everette has a new job, and God... You know what, I just can't get into it too much without spoiling it for you... and believe you, me, you don't want this piece of beauty spoiled. As is per the norm with Debra's work, I laughed, I cried, and my heart swelled and broke and mended. This book is touching with it's surprises and twists.
I read many, many books. Most of them I really enjoy, but few go on my re-read list (mostly because I have another 4000 in my TBR list), but this one, it's right up at the top. Just like with Poughkeepsie, I was so deeply touched by Bittersweet Seraphim.
Just finished this tonight. To be honest this book broke my heart countless times. I was so sad knowing Emma and Jack died but in the end they are both reincarnate. As a Christian I don't believed in reincarnation but but maybe in their case was way too different.
knowing in the end they got back together as for Emma in 23 yrs before her memory backs and for Jack it took him 26 yrs, i'm glad they find themselves again.
Debra I told you a gazzilion times that your books are mezmerising and different from the "Paranormal" with has a great story to tell. Thank you for allowing us to read it and capture our hearts.
OK so I just finished reading this and I'm still wanting more....Debra again has amazed me with her story telling....where have you been all my life. :-) At first I was a little sad because I was ready to dive back into Jack's world but instead there was the introduction of new characters in which you fall just as hard for ...ups and downs and tears and fears. It all makes sense further into the story. Be prepared to look at life differently and choices you have throughout your lifetime....what a wonderful thrill. I could go on forever but this series is a must read!!!! Thanks Debra ughhhh now I have to wait till December for Return to Poughkeepsie. I wonder if there will be a return to Seraphim as well :-)
when I finished Crushed Seraphim, I would've been totally crushed if there wasn't a sequel. This book is just as rockin as the first. I must admit I was a little confused at the first section, but then I remembered that this was Debra's style. I knew there was a reason behind it. I couldn't help but get engulfed in the adventure that Jack, Jason and his family were about to embark on. Love always finds a way, even if it means starting over. Everything happens for a reason and what's meant to be will be. Those have got to be the motto's for which explains Jack and Emma's relationship. I am bummed that I have finished these books. But I know that I will revisit them again. I am not going to give anything else away, just read this series...I look forward to more from Deb!
IF I SAID I LOVED THE PLOT AND JACK ABOUT THE PREVIOUS BOOK, I WAS WRONG. I LOVE THIS EVEN BETTER VERY VERY ELABORATE PLOT AND ENDING! SMOKES! VERY CLEVER! LUCIFER, I DINT KNOW U'D DO THIS, BUT THEN AGAIN GLAD U DID IT! FOR ONCE, THE THIRD WHEEL IN A LOVE TRIANGLE DINT REALLY GET HURT. SPOILER: LOVED THE FACT THAT GOD HELPED EMMA IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. LOVED HOW IT WAS JACK'S SOUL THAT GOD WANTED TO SAVE! LOVED HOW GOD SAID HE VISITED HELL OVER AND OVER AGAIN HOPING ITD BE LUCIFER RUNNING THE HELL LOVED THE WAY EVERETT GOT HIS ASS KICKED! LOVED THE PASSWORD, ONE THING THAT U CANNOT DO IN HELL : BELIEVE! SMART JACK.
IT WAS AMAZING HOW EMMA AND JACK GOT A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE ALL OVER AGAIN MINUS EVERETT
I read Crushed Seraphim over a year ago, so I was very happy to finally be reading the sequel, Bittersweet Seraphim. There are new characters to meet and get to know, and Debra does a really good job of interweaving the old with the new. There are sub-stories within the main story that are exciting and fresh. Action and romance combine with humor and drama to make a story that will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens and to whom. You can read my entire review here: http://bookishtemptations.com/2012/11...
I so didn't want this to end and if there was a third book in this series I'd have it on order in now. Reading this sequel to Crushed Seraphim you couldn't help but get caught up in the fight for life and love and cheer and cry in the aftermath. It's like these characters have more life altering journeys to travel and so much more to share and I'd love to see how the next generation lives and loves.
Debra Anastasia has done it again! Readers are in for a real treat. Bittersweet Seraphim is a book that will take you to heaven and hell, and everywhere in between. A word of warning-don't begin this book at bedtime. With a number of new characters and startling revelations, you won't be able to stop yourself from turning the pages. Before you know it, the sun will be creeping over the horizon. I'm not sure if there will be more Seraphim books, but I'm crossing my fingers for another.
Omg this book was amazing I love Emma and Jack their story is amazing and love that everyone else has a happy ending not sure how I feel about Kate and Jason I don't like Kate much ....... Hopefully there's a book 3????!!!!!! And I'll learn to love her. Seriana and Mine are funny but would love to know how they evolve I do want some one for Dean not Violent though I hoope she Nero and Rebecca find love again. This is a must read!!!!!!
This book was so much harder to review from the first without spoilers. SO MUCH HAPPENS that you can't give away, but you want to comment about....But I freaking loved it so much! I loved the new characters that were added and the new storylines. Beautiful! You can see my full review here
Loved this sequel to Crushed Seraphim. Debra Anastasia has done it again. She brings to life heaven and hell and makes you want to be part of it all. This story needs to continue as we need to know more about Emma, Jack and the others.. Loved the twist at the end.. Thanks again Deb for keeping us reading and wanting more.. xoxo
Wow Debra Anastaia did it again...What a great book. And Satan Jack just did not dissapoint. I so recommend this book it was a great read. Minions from hell, Satan Jack, Angels, Dragons and half breed Vampires everything you can imagine and so wonderfully written with one hell of a twist I didnt see coming....
This is better than the first book... Each side of the story was well presented and I like the fact that there's more love stories... This book had proven that Bad and Evil can be united! Jack is a character to die for! His good looks is nothing compared to his unselfish love for Emma... Every character had his/her story and happy ending... Anything is possible when you believe!
What an excellent conclusion to Crushed Seraphim!!
Debra Anastasia spins a terrific story, with fabulous story telling and once again a cast of characters to love!! For those that enjoy the first book, you will certainly not be disappointed in Bittersweet Seraphim.
I love all books about angels and this one didn't disappoint. It was the perfect blend of love and hate and a healthy dose turmoil. My emotions were all over the place, which is the a sign of the perfect book for me.
Satan Jack was.....heavenly. How could I explain that any clearer? :)
Hands down BADASS! OMG so many new characters. I loved how Debra incorporated everything into this book. Emmy finds her peace, Jack finds his peace, Jason and his family find their peace. This book had in me so emotional raw. Debra is such an amazing author.
