The second installment in The Medusa Files urban fantasy novella series.
Much to Morgan Jacobs’ relief, she isn’t crazy; the world is. Monsters of myth are real and she’s one of them. With only a tenuous hold on her new gorgon abilities and with some of those monsters—the Kin—trying to kill her, Morgan’s best bet is to move in with the mysterious Alexander Gage and his Kin team. Except she doesn’t know if she can trust him, or herself for that matter when he’s around. But when a young Kin woman is murdered with magic, Morgan must put aside her fear of her powers and face something more dangerous than just monsters: her emotions.
C.I. Black has always lived in a world of imagination. When she’s not daydreaming, she puts her flights of fancy down on paper writing urban fantasy and paranormal romance books.
I instantly liked tough determined U.S. Marshal Morgan Jacobs. She finds herself trying to learn how to cope with an alarm new lethal condition. Learning how to control this new ability and not destroy her hot sexy partners becomes very challenging. Oh yeah! she also has to stop the bad guys from killing innocents and generally reeking havoc. I can't get enough reading these case files and hope they keep coming. I give this exciting and hilarious story FIVE BIG STARS !!!!!
Am very frustrated and annoyed that Gage isnt telling her anything and that Morgan isnt demanding answers. Happy that Kate remembers the events of book 1.
This one picks up where Written in Stone left off. The story opens with a murder and while, the murder is solved, not much else happens. My frustration is Morgan still doesn't have a handle on her power, nor is she sure she can trust Gage and the gang, and she is largely still ignorant of many things Kin. Gage still has secrets. Did meet Lachlan's siblings in this one. They are interesting and open more potential plot-lines. I hope book 3 has more resolutions to existing questions as opposed to leaving things unanswered.
This second in the series carries heroine Morgan into more mysteries. As usual, my disbelief got suspended immediately. Further interactions with 'fae' Lachlan and the dark and handsome Gage whose mythic affinities Morgan still doesn't know kept me reading on. I also learned a lot about mythic characters and their abilities. I enjoyed the book immensely... I received a free copy of the book in return for an honest review.
The Medusa Files are like potato chips; I could not read just one. This urban fantasy is set in a different, believable world, and the reader learns about the world as Morgan discovers what she is and what she can do.
I absolutely love this Urban fantasy. I read all three novels in this series one right after the other. I am so hoping that C.I. Black continues this series.
Such a quick and engrossing read, for me. But, damn it, another series I’m getting hooked on. I love the characters and the personal rollercoaster Morgan’s life has her on. So looking forward to the next book.
