Die Geschichte vom Löwen, der nicht schreiben konnte,

Der Löwe kann nicht schreiben, aber das stört ihn nicht, denn er kann brüllen und Zähne zeigen und mehr braucht er nicht. Eines Tages aber trifft er eine Löwin und die ist sehr schön. Und sie liest in einem Buch. Die kann man nicht einfach gleich küssen. Eine solche Dame erwartet zuerst einen Liebesbrief. Also bittet der Löwe den Affen, für ihn zu schreiben. Der nimmt Bleistift und Papier und bietet der Löwin an, mit ihm auf Bäume zu klettern und Bananen zu essen. Völliger Unsinn! Irritiert wendet sich der Löwe ans Nilpferd. Dieses fragt die Löwin, ob sie mit ihm im Fluss schwimmen und nach Algen tauchen will… Was der Mistkäfer, der Geier, die Giraffe und das Krokodil der Löwin schreiben, lässt den Löwen vor Wut fast platzen. Da naht Rettung. Die schöne Löwin nämlich sein Gebrüll.

Der Löwe findet die Löwin schön, mehr muss sie ja wohl nicht sein. Und er muss ja auch nur Brüllen damit sie ihn toll findet. Ich rolle mit den Augen.
Weiß nicht was andere an dieser Geschichte toll finden, sie ist definitiv nicht meins.

As a parent reading this to my child for the first time, this was hilarious. I snorted at the aside that he'd learned some romantic etiquette from a missionary, that he subsequently devoured. He's an anti-hero that I enjoyed following.

The colours of the stylised art change depending on the lion's mood. I love his expressive face.

The youngest person of the household liked that they could do something that the lion couldn't (write).

I don't currently own a copy of this one but I'll likely snap one up if I find it.

Tema: cuento sobre animales y saber escribir.

Cuenta como un león quiere conquistar a una leona que sabe leer, escribiéndole una carta, pero no sabe escribir y se lo pide a todo tipo de animales, no gustándole lo que escriben y descubriéndolo la leona, que es quién le enseña a escribir.
El león durante el cuento es arrogante y al final ni siquiera se esfuerza por intentar aprender a escribir él solo, para intentar ganarse el amor de la leona, es ella la que tiene que hacer todo el esfuerzo por el león enamorado.

Storia buffa che diverte i bambini che grazie al meccanismo del tormentone si attendono il guaio, e li fa ridere di gusto. Fino al momento della svolta, dell'ammissione di impotenza del grande e forte leone, che nel momento in cui smette di pretendere finalmente incontra la soluzione.

Le cose dovute, l'ammissione dei propri limiti, l'esistenza di punti di vista molto differenti, la difficolta' e la bellezza di affrontare le cose in prima persona, l'aiuto e l'apprendimento.
Un sacco di cose!

I stumbled through this with my 30-year-old college French and google translate. It's fantastic! The art and the expressions on the lion's face are brilliant. I was expecting Cyrano, and instead I got "The Menu." Why hasn't this been translated into English? It would do great here!
