In this easy reader, kids will have fun seeing photographs and reading about the fish that live in the ocean, sand castles on the beach, and birds in the sky.
This is a great early reader. It has the repetitive sentence structure that builds confidence, but it changes three times so the reader does have to pay attention to the high frequency words as well.
One of the best ways to get through a Level 1 reader is to distract the reader from all the effort. To do this, turn up the fun-fun-fun. If you're a beach lover, you'll find a ton of fun "At the Beach."
Even longtime readers, with beach nostalgia, may enjoy this book. I sure did.
* As a longtime fan of Jones Beach, when I grew up in New York... * As a happy wife who bathed in Hawaiian surf during her honeymoon, how I miss the beach! * The Washington, D.C. area has just about everything a person could want, but not a great beach for bodysurfing, jellyfish free.
This book might console you with the simple reminders, and the welcoming illustrations (which focus the eye on what key words are about.)
A highlight for me is Page 26, with gorgeous beach umbrellas. How can one see that picture and not open up a great big smile?
FIVE STARS for clever words by Alexa Andrews and lovely illustrations by Candice Keimig.
Have fun at the beach! In this easy reader, kids will have fun seeing photographs and reading about the fish that live in the ocean, sand castles on the beach, and birds in the sky. This book is great to help build background knowledge and vocabulary.
Note: Used in children's yoga program for the beach theme.
This level 1 easy reader is an interesting read. There is no story and there are no characters. Its divided into 3 categories of things you find at the beach. Things in the water, things on items on the sand, and items at the beach.
Its a nice little book to read before making a trip to the beach. Its a nice book to read, then compare with what you actually see at the beach. The illustrations are a cross of photographs and what looks like watercolor background. I like the realism of the images, because its easier for young children to understand what they see and make those connections with the photo and the word on the page. There are about 5 words to the page, up at the very top with the image underneath.
This is a great book for a beginning reader, as most of the words are monosyllabic. I think younger children (toddlers and preschoolers) will enjoy having this book read to them. There is plenty of repetition with the sentences, with only the new word changing.
