When Arianna wakes on a strange planet, she is the only human able to communicate psychically with the big, sexy Thorsani warrior who rides in with his men to rescue the Earth women from their crashed space transport. The Thorsani, humanoid but descended from sentient cats eons ago, are also marooned on this planet they have named 'Ishira'.
Hunter and his brother Jace are Commander and lead physician of Ishira colony. When the captured women tumble into their lives, the small Earthlings turn the men's world upside down. The girls bring drama and heartache, laughter and light...not to mention the first opportunity for sex in more than ten years. And though she's the oldest of her group, Hunter and Jace find themselves drawn to the lovely, curvy Arianna.
For Ri and her ladies, their tumultuous new life takes a very interesting turn when they discover that the Thorsani way is to marry in teams of men...
MOTHER-EFFING CLIFFHANGER!!! Sooooooo many unanswered questions!!!
This author is a PLOT TEASE!
(Tantrum)
So wrong.
I'll get the irritation under control and try to deliver a succinct review later.
For now, I need to list all the interesting plot points within this book that just got left hanging out there with no love:
#1 - The human women were kidnapped and kept in stasis gel for (spoiler) a LONG time....for a purpose??? You never find out! #2 - Is Ri the light in the prophecy? #3 - Sean?? #4 - Babies? #5 - Bad guys still in space close by? #6 - The original alien kidnappers herded to Ishira??? #7 - The two missing brothers??? #8 - Next book in the series to be published in Fall of 2014.....
I was provided a copy of this from Lovers of Paranormal Group for an exchange of honest review.
This book has a good rating but I don't enjoy most part of it. I think the the chapters that rendered me entertainment were the last three ones. I couldn't quiet decipher the thought of creating a 600+ page only to revolve around saving Ariana.
All I could remember was Hunter and Jace constantly getting anxious and looking for Ariana, because Ashe was frail and always in danger. Next is the lack of description for their dwellings. I was having a hard time imagining Ishira and its environment. There were no substantial information provided as to how Ariana and the women woke in a strange planet.
I wish there were more details provided about Ishira, its people, their culture, more action-packed scenes with Amy in it. I think I could've liked this more given those. I was skipping some chapters until the last 7 chapters, so I picked up my interest again hehe
Ariana is flawless for a woman, she's tough and brave and I like her willingness to embrace what's in front of her and the way she welcomes her new life in Ishira. From the beginning to the end, Hunter and Jace were consistent about their intentions with women and Ariana. I like how they're so protective of her and their overflowing love and desire for her. And Amy, this psycho was very vital to the story. Then there's Sean. I almost cried asking why he only came out in the latter part. His character was playful and full of humor; and even though the story bored me most of the time, at least the latter part gave me a little dose of excitement when Sean's character was introduced and what his role will be to Ariana, Hunter and Jace's life. I think the story really started when Sean came, he was intriguing.
I wanted to love this since Sci-Fi is my thing but ultimately couldn't finish it. I'm not a fast reader so I have to decide what's worth the time and what isn't. Here's why I bailed somewhere between a third and half way through:
It's a fun premis. Bunch of girls trapped on a planet with sexy alien men. Bethany killed me with passive voice but the story was good enough to soldier on (for awhile). She's loose with POV at times, and like passive voice, it's a pet peeve. You, potential reader, may not even notice it. Story moves slow at times but I enjoyed her perspective and humor. Somewhere near the middle I couldn't believe Ri was still basically bed ridden and all they'd done was fantasize about each other. Ri's passiveness at this point was very annoying, there had been no sex, so with the passive voice and POV hopping I called it quits.
The book has a lot of great reviews so don't not read it because of this one. It just wasn't my cup of tea. One, I like a much stronger protagonist and two I like more sex. The last is a personal preference. I've stopped reading books because that's ALL they were doing. If I ever go back and finish it, I'll update post.
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
I freaking loved this book! As a fan of Evangeline Anderson's Brides of the Kindred series and Tracy St. John's Clans of Kalquor series, I have found another sci-fi erotica author to love.
Hearts of Ishira starts with a bang and just keeps on getting better. Initially I was concerned that the 600+ page book would be unable to maintain my interest as I have found few authors who can successfully write an epic novel. However, Ms. Aan has crafted a well-written storyline the develops continuously and maintained my interest fully throughout the entire book as the two species integrated, relationships flourished, and challenges were encountered (and bested).
While the primary focus of this novel is the relationship between Arianna, Hunter, and Jace, we also get to experience the adventure that is Ishira as the women acclimate to their new home and new societal norms. I thoroughly enjoyed how the women learned to let go of their Southern Bible Belt upbringings to embrace the Thorsani culture, especially the "team" relationships of 1 female to 2 or more brothers.
This is the first book in the Hearts of Ishira series. So while there is an ending and not the anxiety producing cliffhangers so popular in books of late, it is an end that hints at events in the next book of the series. I look forward to reading the next book and spending more time on Ishira.
Please note: This book is erotica, so there is sex, M/F and M/F/M. Do not buy this book if you are uncomfortable reading these scenes.
I received a free copy from the author for my honest review, so here it is. Where to start: first I loved this book and am so ready for more. I love space travel in books or shows. If you would like to take a ride to another galaxy, then this book is for you. You will find yourself pulled into the story from the beginning when Arianna wakes with her body in so much pain and she can't remember why. When she opens her mind to try and touch someone to help them, she does not know who answers her but she can't wait to meet him. When Hunter and his warriors show up to help the ladies in desperate need to get away from the animals trying to kill them. Somehow the ladies are all naked and crash landed on another planet far away from earth. When she realizes there is no way to return to earth, she helps her ladies to adjust to there new planet and the very sexy warriors who has saved them. To make this worse for Ri, one of her ladies is out to kill her, Amy does not care for anyone but herself and only looking for the way that she can be the top female for commander Hunter and his brother Jace. I finished this book late last night but had to wait to post this review, I was feeling so overwhelmed with happiness and love for this book. I hope there is book 2 to continue Ri, Hunter, Jace and the rest of these two stranded species. They will all work to make life better for everyone. Please read this one if you love any type of space travel with mystery, romance and an all around great story. This is a first by Bethany Aan I have read and am looking forward to reading more from her.
I'll be honest. I'm really kind of pissed off I was not able to find this book and ended up wasting 3+ dollars on it. Not worth it!
The trouble with this book is that the premise is just waaaaay too interesting!!! It could have been soooooo good!! And the first few chapters that I was able to read as a preview were decent and had plenty of foreplay, so I really couldn't resist buying it.
My main problems are:
It's too damn repetitive. Issues that appear to be resolved in one chapter pop up over and over again, as though they were never discussed. It's like the chapters were written independently of each other sometimes.
It's too preachy! The author takes herself and her opinions way too seriously. In a book like this, with a heroine trying to explain the culture of earth to an alien, it's easy to fall into the trap of either handpicking random highlights, or trying to discuss the entire culture of earth, even different practices etc. This book managed to fall into both traps on different occasions, if you can believe it. I don't want to hear about what the author thinks about waste of resources, or world hunger, for goodness sake! If this was a book about that, sure, but there was not enough space to do these issues justice and honestly this was not the place for them.
As another reviewer mentioned, the passive voice. Didn't annoy me too much until I got to a sex scene and the entire scene was described in a most disturbing manner. I don't know how to explain it, but it almost felt as if the heroine was a kid! Her reactions were identical to some 3 year olds I know. Especially since she didn't talk!
Body issues.... UGH. Enough said? And then there's the whole preachy thing again, that skinny girls are like children, about the human diet, etc. Gosh. Enough already. I get that the author is fat and that chubby people also deserve equal love etc, but not at the expense of skinny people like me, thank you very much.
Lastly, how sheltered is our author? These men are supposedly virile, but managed to not be sexually frustrated out of their damn minds while the woman they supposedly want and lust after recovers? After 10 years of nothing? Nope, I'm not convinced. My own husband basically pounces on me if we've had a dry spell of a few days, and I wouldn't necessarily describe him as "virile". Also, at some point the heroine mentions Hunter was extra happy with her and made love with her ... *gasp*... two times the night before! I'm sorry, but honestly....
edited to add some slight other problems: the utopian vibe of everything. Literally everything just continues to work out, all the girls transported were supposed geniuses yet still acted like bimbos at every opportunity, everyone just happily adjusted to having multiple partners, there's only one "villain" who due to the main characters' naïveté continues to wreak havoc, all the deaths are previous traumas easily overcome by talking about them, technological advances that almost ruin the book with their deus ex machina status (nanos anyone?)... I could continue forever.
And then there's the fact that almost all the girls have been assaulted or raped? Uhm, the statistic of 1 in 4 is for all kinds of abuse including emotional etc, not necessarily rape..... This one totally falls under the "author takes herself and her opinions way too seriously" header. I. don't. want. to. read. about. this. bullshit. in. a. romance. novel!!
Well, this is one really long book, 600 + pages. It seems to me the authour had restarted writing it several times as there were inconsistencies and plot holes. A lot of stuff could have been deleted as to not to water down the book. So we start with women waking up in a strange place with no knowledge how they got there. Our main heroine immediately shows us she is psychic and reaches out to ask for help meanwhile she is protecting the women she had no knowledge of with one severely broken leg. They kept referring to her as an old woman when she was, in fact, only 35, that is hardly an old woman. Also, I believe the author was in her early twenties as she manufactured a woman that wanted to be old but was young and kind of immature. Anyway, the book keeps exploring those new male aliens that have descended from cats and have furry backs (end of differences), they kept getting to know each other sharing their cultures where unsurprisingly the men can easily share a woman. And then BAM in the end of the book we have a new development The main drama comes from one of the women being a broken woman who has become extremely self-centred and vindictive. Instead of dealing with her on several occasions she was under Protocol? This is supposedly a BDSM theme running in the background. Her males made her walk naked and do chores. They didn't like her yet she ends up pregnant by the end. Bo-hoo on them on overcoming their aversion to sticking it in her. This book has been published in 2012 and is supposed to have a sequel at 2014, something that hasn't happen even 3 years later. I hope that if it does come out the authour would be a much better one, more experienced and easier to read.
"Two other medics were following behind Hunter, making sure her scratches and wounds were clean before slathering them with salves and bandaging them. Four incredibly handsome, well-built men around her naked body. If she hadn't been so weak, she might have indulged in a bit of naughty fantasy."
Okay, I'm already fanning my face with the physical imagery, but let's take it one step further: Imagine you can call to another being within the boundaries of your mind, but instead of the human beings you are used to, a gentle alien being responds to your pleas for help? One who can restore your energy with his own brand of mental powers and delicate touch, even as you wish you had the power to refuse but to whom you feel no threat? What if this is because you crashlanded on a planet far away from the Earth's Solar System, only to be rescued by sexy, cat-like alien males wishing only to see to you and your companions healing and comfort?
Welcome to the planet, Ishira, where Bethany Aan's erotic/science fiction tale takes place.
Hearts of Ishira is unlike any book I've ever read before and wow, am I glad I ventured into this previous unknown arena with Hearts. Bethany Aan combines the bold, the sassy, and the erotic with a science fiction twist most impressively and I applaud the workings of her oh-so-talented creative abilities. As a reader of many different genres, this is one I'm glad I decided to try. Further, I'm glad my maiden voyage into this genre was reading Hearts of Ishira.
Not to be redundant, but I intentionally titled my review, "Bold, sassy, and imaginative prose with saucy spice", because this is exactly what I found the heart of Hearts of Ishira to be. My only peeve was the tale ended, (as all good stories certainly should), with a cliffhanger intended to prompt the reader to impatiently wait for Book 2. It was almost like having a ton of foreplay, only to be left in the lurch without the climax, so to speak. ;)
So, my reader friends, since I never read and tell because I don't believe in plot/story spoilers, read the blurb, look at the results of Bethany Aan's previous reviews, and go with your gut--or your 'heart', if you will. I, for one, cannot wait for Book 2 in this series!
2.5 stars DNF at 50% and I love long books if I'm enjoying them I think yay more to enjoy but this book dragged and annoyed me immensely. Ok I need to get the negatives out first because certain things about this book annoyed me almost to the point of being infuriated.
My first big problem was reading through pages and pages of how the heroine was treated like crap in society on earth but is nothing short of wonderful and perfect on her new planet. I am all for heroines having big personalities and having relationships where the man/men respect her but this wasn't just bordering on worship this was so far past worship for her I don't even have a name for it. Added to this it was made out that if you didn't like or do something the heroine enjoyed it made you stupid, less caring or something along those lines. I also didn't like the way the writer treated some sensitive issues, for example the heroine thinks she's of no value on this new planet because on earth she was of no value due to the fact she couldn't have children, I don't know if it was supposed to come across that way or if she was just trying to make the reader understand how the heroine felt due to her experiences. There were more issues with earth that the writer vocalised through the heroine that I felt the writer could have been handled more delicately and less like throw away comments.
Saying all this maybe there were things I liked about this book. I enjoyed the character development of the the brothers and the fun relationship between them. The writer's description was literally out of this world (sorry for the bad joke) as I really felt like I was an onlooker to these characters and what was going on. Putting all that aside my favourite thing about this book has to be the furry creatures that some people kept as pets, I can't even tell you how much I want one or how much I wish they were real!
I loved this book. I didn't know if I would be able to get through it when I saw how many pages it was. The author done an amazing job writing this book and doing such a tremendous with all the characters and the high tech stuff that was in this book. I know that there are still some things that didn't get answered but man it was great.
It took me thirteen hours to get this book read and I didn't want to put it down not even for a second. Arianna was such a strong woman even at times that she thought she wasn't. Bev helped her some and with those two in charge of the human women then you knew they would be in good hands. Hunter is the kind of man that I would love to have. Someone that can read my mind and know exactly what I want. Jace is a great man too, I won't leave him out.
In this book there were one female to two, three, or four males. I think that is what made the book more interesting. It was great to see two different species come together and try to live in peace and harmony. Made me wish I was there instead of on Earth. Everyone had great jobs and no one felt that they weren't needed. Even when some of the women weren't comfortable.
There is just so many things that happened in this book and I know the author did a lot of research and you can tell. Everything was explained very well and I never thought it was over my head and I was never lost. This book was exciting. It was full of adventure, suspense, and hot scenes. I just don't know what else to say. I knew that I better write this review as soon as I got it done. I have found another awesome author and I can't wait to read more from her.
Thank you for giving this book to me to review and giving me the pleasure of reading it and learning about a whole new world. I can't explain everything that I am feeling right now. Just thank you so much.
I enjoyed this one. The author really came up with some new and unique ways to create familiar things (clothing, sugar, etc) from alien flora and fauna. I had fun exploring and creating these things with the characters. I feel like a lot of scifi authors pass up the chance to have a lot of fun and be truly creative when writing about an entirely new planet with new lifeforms and plantlife. I also like exploring the endless possibilities when it comes to alien cultures and their ideas about morality and beauty.
I didn't so much enjoy the multitude of unanswered questions I'm left with. I'd be perfectly content to move on to the next book seeking answers.... but there doesn't seem to be one. I also didn't love love that the mc had psychic abilities, I usually like my heroines straight up human.
I loved this book, it's rare to find a book that's so well written that whilst you're reading it you are transported to the world and are living the story along with the characters but Ms Aan has managed that here. It's a sweeping tale with lots of characters to enjoy and get to know, and a brand new world to discover. Unlike some books in this genre this book didn't feel rushed or all about the sex, although it was steamy enough in places, but felt more well rounded as a story and as much about the adventure of it all as the love story, I also loved the reference to "Menolly" a favorite of mine too, Ms Aan you have a new avid fan. If you liked M. K. Eidem's Grim you will love this, my only complaint is that book 2 isn't out yet!
Received this book to review from Goodreads LoP book group. This book was about 200 pages too long. I liked the concept and the way they had to reinvent everything but it took too long to get to heart of the book and I got sick of them weaving things and fibers and spinning yarn. It was not bad but some things were repetitious and a little to unbelievable, even from a sci-fi point of view. Not bad but I won't be picking up the next in this series.
Hearts of Ishira has all I look for in a good read, and then some. A great plot, griping characters, and a good dose of naughtiness to round it out! I love the imagery of the other-worldly planet, how she makes you feel like you are there. And the imagery of the hunkalicious men on this world, that make a woman feel not just wanted, but needed and loved. Can't wait for the rest of the series!
**** 2015 (July) Re-read There doesn't seem to be a second book, so this one leaves you hanging. It's a good book, but unless book 2 is ever written, I wouldn't recommend buying a cliffhanger.
2013: I didn't like the abrupt ending, but still loved the book. I hope there is a follow-up.
An absolutely fantastic book. Quite epic in length. Telling the story of a group of women who wake up on a strange planet fighting off alien wolf like animals. The focus is on arianna ( ri ) she is a psychic or ‘reader’ and with a broken leg and her group of 30 odd sorority girls it’s obvious the odds are not in their favour. Ri calls out mentally for help and hunter answers....
Having crash landed some ten years earlier whilst fleeing a brutal race commander hunter and his battilion of soldiers had settled their fate to be one of isolation and loneliness... until a cry for help opens up a whole new world of possibilities.
Action packed and really funny at times this book was so enjoyable. I really enjoyed seeing how the girls and the guys grew into each other and learnt to accept and cherish their differences.
I really really hope book 2 is somewhere on the horizon. Because the world building in this book is so colourful and descriptive. I thoroughly enjoyed the development of a loving relationship between Ri/jace and hunter and I must know how it turns out with Sean.
I just finished reading Hearts of Ishira, a sci-fi romance of epic proportions. First of all, I have to give kudos to Bethany Aan for the sweetest dedication EVER to her husband. Made me wish she was my wife.
I'll admit, science fiction's not really my thing. I prefer the classics, Arthur C. Clarke, 2001 Space Odyssey type stuff. But there were enough other elements in Hearts of Ishira to make it a compelling read for me.
1. Sexy cat-men. Once I got used to the furry aspect of the men on this planet, it was pretty cool. Stroking their backs to emit a growly purr…Yummy.
2. Empaths. The female MC and one of the male MCs were empaths, able to read minds and feelings. Admit it, it's every girls' dream to have a mate who can read her mind.
3. Boy to girl ratio. With 3-4 men for every woman in this book, it made for some pretty steamy ménage scenes. Hip Hip Hooray!
4. Busted out social norms. This is the beauty of sci-fi, fantasy, and paranormal: you get to make the rules. Ms. Aan made some beautiful rules in this book. The species of men colonizing the planet that Ri's spaceship crash-landed on preferred the older, wiser, curvier women to the twenty-something sticks that accompanied her. The valued women and family above all else in their society, and they all worked together as a team. No politicking.
5. A great antagonist… a click this
6. While reading this book, I did some serious reminiscing to back when I first discovered Jane M. Aul's Clan of the Cave Bear series. Back at home, Ri had been a weirdo for knitting, crotcheing, and spinning her own yarn. On the new planet, her textile crafts were an asset, and she and the men created tools for her to use in her creations.
7. The female lead was intrepid, spunky, and idealistic, without being naïve, which I liked a lot.
8. Lots and lots of great sex
9. Witty dialogue.
See? There was so much about this book to like.
There was only one aspect of the book that I didn't like, and would be remiss if I didn't share it in the review. The POV shifts were jarring at times, sometimes switching within a paragraph. It seemed to get better as the novel went on or maybe my brain just got used to it. I can see the challenges in writing multiple POVs from empaths, "She could tell he sensed…" but it was distracting to me.
Overall though, this was an intense read. It was action packed, and had great pacing. If I didn't have kids and a husband constantly demanding food and attention, I would have definitely read it faster. I will keep these characters in my thoughts for a while.
Hearts of Ishira by Bethany Aan Arianna awoke to excruciating pain and screams somewhere nearby. When she opened her eyes, she saw a forest unlike any she’d ever seen. Strange insects and flying creatures roamed the land. Then, from the shadows, other living things emerged – animals unlike anything Ri could have dreamed in her wildest fantasy. She had no idea where she was. She looked around and saw a corpse with a broken neck nearby. The creatures were almost in feeding frenzy over the woman’s dead body. Ri noticed other women scattered around in the foreign landscape. All were naked, as was Ri. Ri was fighting pain; she had a severely broken leg and broken ribs. She sent a mental cry for help and received a mental reply from a life form nearby. At last, Thorsani warriors arrived to help the band of women. While the men looked humanoid, they were very tall, with markings on the edges of their faces spreading into their hairlines. Ri caught just a glimpse of the bright green eyes of her savior before she passed out at his feet from her injuries. The men busied themselves getting communicators on the women. There had been no females for their group for more than ten years. They examined the injured group of female creatures with interest as medics went to work attempting to heal the broken and injured. Bethany Aan created aliens that were kind, sexy, and appealing. I was impressed with the level of culture-building she was able to sprinkle into the novel. She introduced the world of Ishira only a small bit at this juncture, but did so beautifully and with great detail and wonderful explanation as to every area explored. Her interpretation and knitting of the Thorsani culture into the fabric of the world of Ishira was extraordinary. I have never before envied a non-existent culture. The Thorsani had beautiful beliefs and a wondrously structured and respectful treatment of women and children. Aan clearly put a great deal of thought into the creation of this world. Additionally, the respectful addressing of various world marital customs was astounding. This was a very erotic novel, so for those not interested in reading about m/m/f ménages, this may not be for you. The sex scenes were passionate and exquisite, written with the reader’s pleasure in mind. I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in this series. An ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review (through LoP on Goodreads). The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I was given a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
The first scene is definitely not for the squeamish – might be better to read during the day so you don’t get nightmares. It’s where we first meet Arianna Hunter and she seems to be in pain. There are also other women there with her. Don’t let this first scene turn you off because you’ll miss a great book if you do. This book shows how resilient people can be in situations that they have no control over.
My favorite quote is when Ri says “Oh, for the love of little pink bunnies”. You can’t do anything but laugh. And it comes at a time when you shouldn’t be. I also learned that should you ever get into trouble, you want someone like Ri on your side.
I loved how Bethany plays up how some of the young women belong to a sorority. Women in sororities, when I went to college, were seen as being very snobby, very ditzy, or both. Bethany also makes one of them, Amy, a royal pain. Amy sees herself as more than she is. She could have been a character that overtakes the story but Bethany does a great job of putting her in scenes at just the right time.
I did feel that this is not a book to take to the beach with you. You will get yourself so immersed in the world of Ishira that everything else around you will disappear. I had a hard time at work when I would try to read this on my lunch hour – I kept trying to talk myself into reading just one more page. This is better for when you are doing a staycation.
Hunter, Jace, and the other men on Ishira all seem larger than life but not too different from us. Bethany makes everything seem believable. She must have done a lot of research to get her world created – from the food they eat to the plants that can or cannot be used. She also makes Arianna very smart with a lot of knowledge that can be used for survival.
If Bethany had made this a story all lovey-dovey right from the minute that Ri comes in contact with Jace and Hunter, I think she would have lost her readers. But by creating Amy the reader has no choice but to keep reading because you will want to see if she gets what she deserves. But don’t fret because she also gives you plenty of sex. Our author also gives us the perfect ending that leads into book two. I look forward to when it comes out.
3.75 This book is a straightforward uncomplicated erotic romance that pulls the reader into to the lives of the character and their struggle to survive, make connections and create meaningful loving relationships and strong emotional bonds. This story started with a bang from page one and I was quickly immersed in the relationship drama of the couples. The plot is centred mainly around relationship dramas but it is offset by family tragedy, humorous moments and well timed cute domestic moments and passionate scenes.
The relationships and emotional connections between the couples (ménage relationships) were convincing because the story begins with a sensual undercurrent that builds overtime into blossoming friendship/romantic relationships established through psychic/normal interactions/courting rituals leading to strong emotional bonds.
Issues
Several things got in the way of my full enjoyment of this story such as the all round perfection of many of the characters except the bad guys. The main main ménage couple, Arianna, Hunter, Jace were practically perfect in every way and what small perfection there was (physical/emotional issues) made them heroic and even saintly! The humanoid men/aliens had genius levels of intelligence with superior bodies as well as amazing numbers of extraordinary skills. They were also practically immortal and therefore perfect both inside and out. many of the women were just as perfect, especially Arianna! The perfection bordered on the ridiculous. It was all a bit much!
Plot wise, there were lots of questions left unanswered and this extraordinary long story came to an abrupt end that was surprising and vaguely unsatisfying. I really hope that the author is planing a follow on book that ties all the loose ends otherwise it just doesn't make any sense.
This book is perfect for lazy days to just snuggle up and go with the flow.
This is the third time I've read this book and I love it as much as I did the first time. I don't know what keeps me returning to it but I just leave the characters, I love world building and I love the romance!
I'm really looking forward to when Bethany Aan finally releases book 2!!
Reread:
I've always been a fan of this book. I have loved Ri, Hunter & Jace from the beginning and rereading it this time around was just as exciting as the first time!! This year is the year of rereads for me and I'm enjoying every minute :)
**************************************************************** **I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.**
Wow. That was amazing.
This book felt so long, but Bethany Aan made EVERY moment worth the wait.
My first love for this book came from the message about body image if felt the author was trying to portray, having the men LOVE bigger girls and think they were beautiful and how they helped Ri and Bev get over their self-doubt was refreshing. I also just loved how honest the men were, it was a picturesque world in terms of the men.
I was a little confused in the beginning, but it slowly everything fell into place and I started to LOVE Ishira and the Thorsani warriors. I LOVED Arianna's character and Bev's character, but I kind of fell in love with Hunter and Jace with Arianna, I mean they were perfect.
I can't really say much more about it except that it's rare that an author can take me into their world and ensare me within in it so completely, I haven't done much else except read this book since I started. I loved Ishira, I loved the warriors, I loved Arianna and her girls...it was just exceptional with lots of great passion and emotion, it was a perfect combination.
This will go at the top of my summer reads this year.
I have found a new reading enjoyment recently from Fantasy/Sci-Fi Romance. With Hearts Of Ishira, I found myself enjoying the world and experience Bethany has created. It was a very intriguing concept and entertaining to follow. I liked the characters, and the entire basis of the story. It was creative and easy to believe. Each character had background which made them interesting and they were normal everyday people. Bethany did well bringing in young, old, pretty and average females, it gives multiple readers a way to bond with the characters. I gave this only 3 stars for two reasons. First is was long, longer than it needed, so be forewarned. Secondly, some parts were dragging, I found myself wanting to skip over because it wasn't holding my attention. I just found myself not really interested in wanting to know that Bethany was sewing.
All in all, I would continue reading the following books because it does have that hook where you want to know what is going to happen next. I was sad at the end because I wanted to know what was going to happen next, but Bethany ended it appropriately with a hook to make you want to read more.
So I finished this book and it was awersome.it has so much good things in it: Hansome aliens Beautiful planet Beautiful curvy women Special abilites Jokes Awersome writing
There was only thing I was little uncomfortable with but in the end I became to accept that and Im looking forward to next volume very much.
For autor: next time would be awersome they would have tail( when I realized they are cat-like it was first thing which came to my mind, maybe in another story? *hopefull* )
*I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads*
I really wanted to like this book, and I did like the first half....unfortunately, for me, the second half wasn't as exciting. The premise was great: a spaceship (carrying only females) crashes onto a planet of ONLY male warrior-cats. Thus the two species learn to cohabitate and start working on colonization. I truly felt like this story was to long and to "wordy". I became frustrated with the dialog, sometimes feeling like the it didn't match the characters. BUT, I did like the world building and the characters. Overall, based on the first half of this book I WOULD read more in this series.
Miss Aan gives you the opportunity to leave this planet we call Earth behind, to find our selves on a world called Ishira. As humans we have our culture, certain behaviors are hammered into our beings and what we call moral here could cause problems on Ishira. Men, refugees of a war, which robbed them of their home planet and females of our world try to find a way to live happily with each other, unknown if their DNA is compatible or not, they still have to enter the journey to making this world their own. Conflicts arise, being solved in one way or the other. Miss Aan writes detailed, in depth and patiently explanatory how problems could be solved, if one really wishes to. We all could use Hunter, Ri and Jace, just as most of the camp, as an example.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP)
EEEEP! I had NO idea what I was getting into when I read this book. I don't even think I read the synopsis. But I have zero regrets!! Definitely Sci-fi & romance. A group of women find themselves on an alien planet with super hot warrior cat-men, and some of them have psychic powers. Can they survive the dangers and unknown? There was definitely more romantical stuff, and some of it even erotica, but it didn't detract from the story at all, only enhanced it. I need to find out what happens next, I really hope book 2 is out... going to go look now.
Best. Book ever!!!! This. Jumped into my lap and proceeded to win me over from page one. The chacters rock the story rolls and theres something in there for everyone . It will take you to the most beautiful places in space and beyond. So what are you waitinv for grab the next big thing today!!!!
I enjoyed this tale from beginning to end but it does need some major continuity editing. Even with that I liked the story line and characters. This book would have easily gotten 4 stars from me if the editing had been better. Because of the editing problems, I just could not give it more than 3 stars.
Very much enjoyed this novel up until the heroine gets injured for the third time. As a plot device, it gets a wee bit tedious. But I like the strong, imperfect heroine and the men-cats that find her beautiful. All-in-all, a good read.
