This is like every page you've googled on the topic combined into one place/ digital file, but briefly. Instead of being thorough on one aspect, it gives an overview of a few aspects.
I guess if you suck at the internet, or hate using the internet, this book is for you.
I am still trying to find the gift mentioned... hah.

For the Beginner

This book is a decent, quick overview on meditation techniques. If you already have a meditation practice, you won’t get much out of it.

This is actually the first book on meditation that I have acquired; I downloaded it onto my Kindle this week. I've read up through the section titled Deepening Your Experience of Meditation. I've found the material to be just detailed enough to help me to discover what type of meditation I am most comfortable with, but not so detailed as to be overwhelming.

Although I've only been exploring meditation the past few weeks, I had already discovered that I prefer a combination of mantra (so & hum, meaning "I am that") and breath. After reading the section on deepening the experience, I realized that I want to begin to also include hand mudras (in Sanskrit, gesture) finger positions that activate certain consciousness in the brain. I've discovered that my preferred mudra is called prana mudra, which is said to be rejuvenating and improves the immune system.

Thus far, I feel I have received exactly what I needed from this book to keep me interested in practicing meditation and help me to begin to make it a regular part of my life.
