If I had to describe this authors writing style in one word that word would be smooth . I drank this book in as if it was a cool tall glass of water on a scorching hot day. Yes, it was very refreshing and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

God, who was this man? To work her over in six different ways and then stop because he wanted to look into her eyes? How was it possible that he was out there, undiscovered by some other woman? Dylan pulled him into her and held his face between her hands, kissing him slowly, sweetly, to let him know how much it meant that even in the middle of his pleasure, he remembered to see her.’

By day Dylan is a legal assistant at a law firm and by night she is currently studying for her LSAT’s so that she can get in to NYU Law School. A phone call from her best friend has her put studying on the back burner. Dylan never thought that attending a party with her best friend Ava would change the course of her life as she knows it.. But it does. Because the night she put studying aside for a party is the night she meets Mark Acosta. And according to the New York Daily News “The Rookie” referring to Mark, was set to be signing a contract with the Mets very soon.

Mark makes sure he get’s Dylan’s number and an easy friendship takes root. He is very upfront with her about the fact that his time is limited. With that said Dylan does not have high expectations in fact she continued to live her life as usual all the while being friends with an up and coming baseball star.

WAIT. Did I mention that he is HOT AS HELL! He’s described to be 6’2 with a deep dark caramel complexion, well built but not to beefy with eyes black as coal framed by long lashes and smooth velvety eyebrows. OH plus he is Dominican and speaks Spanish during sex. *GRINS* Can you say HELL YES!!

“Have you been thinking about me?” he asked, lowering his voice. His willingness to put himself out there and say things as frank as that got her, every single time. Dylan was pretty damn sure she had never met anyone like Mark Acosta before, and may never again.

She can sense that Mark may want more and yes they are dating but she continues to live as if she was single. After all they are not in a relationship even if it seems that way at times; it is not until he speaks of them being exclusive that she accepts their relationship as such.
Things progress pretty quickly after that, they move in together and soon after they are engaged to be married.

Now married to a newly signed Mets baseball player Dylan finds herself in an exclusive club as a baseball wife. Having no idea what that means really she is now in a world of affluence, where money can buy anything; clothes, jewelry, cars and homes all around the world.
Sometimes money can change people; it can be a quick or a slow process. With Dylan it happens gradually over time. That girl studying hard to obtain entry to law school starts to lose herself in the world of materialism.

Dylan’s husband Mark is not a flashy guy; in fact his life style does not change even though his bank account has grown tremendously. He notices the changes his wife is displaying and he questions them however Dylan is good on…distraction. He is aware that money can change people but that’s only if you let it.

When things go from BAD to very VERY BAD, Mark questions her as a person, as a wife and her loyalty. Is it to him? You’ll have to read to find out ;)

This is The Seduction Of Dylan Acosta.

My Thoughts
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK! I said it before and I’ll say it again, Nia Forrester has become one of my FAVORITE authors! She has a very unique writing style, I call it exploration. In this book she takes her characters on a journey that is very true to life, temptation, ones we can all relate to. Money and how people act to getting it and those around them with money when they are not use to it. She explores their relationship as husband-wife. She is BIG on characterization, which I like, A LOT.

Forrester also explores the choices made by her characters and the resulting consequences whether it is good or bad. So for instance what motivated them to act/behave that way? Is the person easily influenced by others? What were his/her feelings behind the action? Yeah *grins* I really dig her style. She never asks these questions out right, instead it is addressed within the story, in the monologue.

My Rating and Why
I gave this book 4.5 STARS because I loved the story, the characters and the writing style.

My Ratings
Characters- Lovable and Sexy
Writing Style- Excellent
Plot/Storyline- Explores temptation, materialism and how money can change people, if you let it
Steam Factor- HIGH/Very Steamy on a scale of 1-10 I say 8.5
Overall- I LOVED IT!
My Recommendation: I highly recommend this to romance lovers especially if you enjoy an interracial romance YUM!

WARNING -- This review may contain spoilers.

Okay, to understand the whole gist of this story, just read the blurb. I wondered about this story the entire time I was reading it. It was truly an interesting puzzle for me trying to figure out just what was really going on. Dummy me ... just read the damn blurb!

Have you ever read a book that gave you a knot in your chest at about 15% and it stayed there until about 75%? This is that book. It isn't a suspense, but the emotions it pulls from you are uncomfortable as you watch Dylan stumble time and again. Another something you may wonder about if you watch sports [and I do], -- what happens when you take a normal Joe and give him TONS of money for employing a God given talent? What happens to that person? What about the spouse of this person? How do they cope in the bubble? This is that story too.

A few things I really liked:
1 -- Mark. I just loved this guy. He had years to prepare for fame and still it hit him between the eyes. He had committed to himself that it wasn't going to impact him or his family. They were going to reap all the benefits but without having to give in or give up to the fans. We find out he was naive in his thoughts. We get an inside view of the destruction and rebuilding of Mark, the magnificent shortstop for the NY Mets [major league baseball team].

2 -- Dylan has all the characteristics of person you would love to hate - but you don't -- you really can't. She is the one I was in knots for. I kept watching her stumble her way through living with Marks fame after she was thrust into it. She got no real help from him because he was focused on his game. She didn't have anyone really to help her with her transition and she was lost most of the time. If a wrong decision could have been made -- this girl was making it. Eventually she figured it out. The most important lesson was to trust in love. The love Mark had for her.

3 -- The blurb for this book was spot on. Unfortunately, I didn't pay as much attention to it as I should have before reading the darned thing. If I had, I wouldn't have been as puzzled as I was, reading the book. I kept wondering about the point of the story. An example of my strangeness -- at one point, I actually thought the point was a play on the title of the book - NOT. So, my advise, read the blurb. You'll have a pretty good idea of what you're in for with this one before reading it.

There were a few things I think could have been better for me:
1 -- The depth given to the characters was a bit lacking. I knew Mark loved Dylan to distraction, but never understood why. I get that it was immediate for him with her, but I didn't feel that. I get that early on they spent time connecting, but this didn't really stand out. Later in the book Mark reminds Dylan when she asks the question I was thinking about.

1a -- For me, the story development suffered a bit when the characters lack depth. Duh! But just wanted to state the obvious.

2 -- I liked getting a birds-eye view of the life of a sports celebrity and their significant other. I can truly appreciate that fame isn't something I think I'd ever enjoy, but in this book, there wasn't a single secondary sports character we read about that we really like. They can't all be "Shit's". I would have like to have had someone a bit more positive.

3 -- The cover does nothing for this book. I get that pearls and silk can look romantic and seductive, but it really isn't anything like the book.

If I hadn't have read other books by this author, I wouldn't know just how good she is by reading this one. I'm thinking this is/was an earlier work before she got it all figured out. I really did like the story. I absolutely liked the characters. I don't think I felt all that Nia intended me to feel.

If you aren't sure about reading this author, I encourage you to start reading Nia Forrester by trying Commitment first. This will get you started and by the time you work your way to this one, you will really understand what she is trying to do with this story. Hopefully, you will like and appreciate her effort here as much as I did.

Happy Reading!

I don’t know how Nia Forrester does it, but each book sucks me in and causes me to neglect the world around me until I can get to THE END. Such was the case with the Seduction of Dylan Acosta. From the moment Dylan and Mark met at the party, I was in their world. I watched their relationship progress quickly to marriage, and then I watched as Dylan slowly got sucked into the glitz, glamour, and gossipy world of the baseball wives.

There were times I was angry at Dylan. For instance, she didn’t use good judgment when dealing with Ray Hernandez. But much as I loved Mark, he made me upset, too, because he sort of left Dylan to fend for herself in the beginning of their marriage, and I think he should have been more involved to give her support. She needed it.

I liked reading about Mark’s Dominican family, and his jealousy and possessiveness where Dylan was concerned was oh, so sexy. I sympathized with Dylan near the end as she suffered the public humiliation of being accused of infidelity and being blamed for Mark’s poor performance on the field.

There were enough typos in this particular title that a few times I was pulled out of the book. Nonetheless, the story itself was engrossing, and I enjoyed it immensely.

I Enjoyed This

At first, I wasn’t sure how I was going to rate this book. I wanted to give it three stars for the anxiety I felt as I watched Dylan stumble time again once she was thrust into the spotlight and riches that came with being a sports wife. But the scenes were all written so well that, even as I found myself growing frustrated, I continued reading anyway.
I loved the support and love Dylan found in (most) of Mark’s family and, even when she was spiraling that her best friend, Ava, stayed by her side. I also enjoyed many aspects of her and Mark’s relationship though I didn’t like how he thrust her into this new life with out a lifeline and then seemingly blamed her, or didn’t communicate properly when Dylan was struggling most.
Dylan definitely made mistakes, but I appreciated that they weren’t because of stupid misunderstandings but more so following the advice of those she thought she could trust. And while I felt the build up of Dylan and Mark’s relationship was well-written, I wish we’d been given more. Sometimes I didn’t feel like they had anything beyond good sex. So when they were able to weather the storm of their first months of marriage, new riches, Mark’s career keeping him away for long stretches, and misconstrued tabloid photos, I was happy. But I also, sometimes, found myself wondering what exactly they were fighting for. Or rather, what exactly was holding them together.
I thought that, despite a few typos, this book was well-written and a very interesting exploration into sudden and unexpected proximity to fame as well as dealing with the rules of engagement for dealing with a different family and culture.

3.5 stars. This is a well-written book and I'm a bit surprised I haven't heard about this writer before. It's a few years old, I suppose, but it's not dated at all.

Dylan is an intern studying and preparing herself for law school. She's a fairly 'ordinary', 'normal' young woman. Dylan meets Mark Acosta at a party. He's the Mets' newest rookie baseball player. He used to play in the Dominican Republic, where he is from, but now he and his whole family live in New York. They do go back to DR for holidays and to catch up with extended family.

Mark and Dylan are attracted to each other right from the start, but it's not one of those stupid 'instalove' tropes. Their relationship develops pretty quickly, but it's realistic in the way it grows, and they fall deeply in love.

Within a few months, Dylan and Mark are married. Mark is doing well with the Mets, but Dylan, young, unsure of herself, gets caught up in the hype and bitchiness of the WAGs (wives and girlfriends) of the superrich baseball players. Dylan doesn't become bitchy herself, but she can't seem to keep her head, and gets a bit lost in the crazy world she now inhabits. Mark keeps her grounded when they're together, but he is often away, training or playing.

Then Ray Hernandez, another player on Mark's team, and the darling of the media with his Hollywood good looks and baseball skills, sets out to make trouble for Mark. He does this by flirting publicly with Dylan and making sure the paparazzi get some pics. Dylan is perfectly innocent, but the photos look really bad and the story gets splashed all over the media. There are also some other complications which make it all look a lot worse. Dylan gets caught up in the perfect storm, through no fault of her own except her naivety and inexperience.

Luckily their relationship is eventually able to weather the storm. Mark is a rock solid guy, and when it comes down to it, Dylan didn't actually do anything wrong, and they both still love each other very much. So there is a HEA.

I enjoyed this read. I liked both Dylan and Mark, but I have to admit, watching the stupid and naive mistakes Dylan made was like watching a train crash in slo-mo. This part of the book was pretty angsty for me, although you knew they would sort it out in the end. I normally read books with less angst, but I was OK with this one as it's well-written and the secondary characters are also interesting (e.g. the Acosta extended family).

Now I'm going to go ahead and read book 2, about Mark's young sister Miri, The Education of Miri Acosta.

Review:

"The Seduction of Dylan Acosta: The Novel" by Nia Forrester was a well written read that was enjoyable. This author did a wonderful job with a very story telling, with very well developed supporting characters and lots and lots of drama. Be ready for a relationship between Dylan and Mark that had some problems. With Dylan (heroine) somewhat naive...their was her insecurites, however their was Mark was definitely a hero who somewhat demanding coming from a strong Dominican Republic Family. "Marrying only a couple months after they meet, Dylan and Mark are faced with reality as he is required to be away from home of long periods of time. This transition causes a strain in various areas of their lives as they both are tested by the woes of stardom." So, get ready for a interesting story about a athlete with a "group of messy baseball players wives' with too much time on their hands." The novel was one that once you got into the read it was hard to put it down.

If you are in for a entertaining enjoyable read then I would recommend "The Seduction of Dylan Acosta: The Novel" would be a interesting good read for you.

For me....one of the things that makes a good book is whether or not you can remember the characters and what took place days after completing the book. Let me tell you I can not get the Acosta's out of my mind. All of the characters were just so darn lovable.

Mrs. Forrester did a great job of telling the story of an insecure young lady trying to find her place in the world. This young lady suddenly finds herself in the life of the rich and famous. While attending a party Dylan meets Mark a baseball player who is about to sign to the majors with a pretty big contract. The two quickly marries and Dylan finds herself being caught between her insecurities, the lifestyle and proving her love for her man Mr. Mark Acosta. The story chronicles the ups and downs of the life (marriage included) of professional sports players and their significant others; the good, the bad and the god awful ugly.

One of the things that frustrated me about the book is that I felt like I was often left hanging from chapter to chapter. However Mrs. Forrester craftily always addressed the topic at which I felt she was leaving by the wayside in proceeding chapters. What seemed to be my frustrations ended up being a brilliant way to keep you wondering and glued to the pages.

This is a must read!

The Seduction of Dylan Acosta is an enjoyable albeit extremely predictable story. Dylan,a young woman, who works at a law office and passionately plans to go to law school, meets a baseball star at a party. The two characters connect and the relationship quickly blossoms and leads to marriage. Upon entering the world of wealth Dylan almost immediately looses her sense of self and sight of her plans and passions. She spends her days shopping and spending her husband's money on anything from underpants for $ 150.- each to 30K bracelets. After an enormous public fall out over an alleged affair that nearly ends her husband's career, she finally comes to her senses and rethinks what really matters. The ending of the book is no surprise and the writing is on the wall long before the book draws to a close. This book can serve as a reminder to how important it is to be grounded in one's own purpose in life.

I enjoyed this read. I love how this author tells the complete love story from the moment a couple meets, through all their ups and downs, and around to the finish. Dylan and Mark were an unlikely pair simply because of the different stages they were at in their lives. Their relationship was really a sweet one, but it was extremely sensual as well. I loved all the interactions with Mark's family. They were a close knit bunch and really added a positive and warm energy to the story. This story had a great flow, and there was never really a lull. It is though not as steamy as this authors previous two books, but really stands alone on its own. So I you like a more sweet romantic read this one is for you.

Dylan was a young lady who fell in love with a wonderful sexy man Mark Acosta. He marries her she is in a world of professional baseball. She meet the wives of other player that is when her problems begin. This is a story about peer pressure Dylan becomes what some one else wants her be and not the wonderful woman her husband fell in love with. With the love of her husband and true friend she finds her ay back to herself. There is a lot passion in this story between Mark and Dylan and I really enjoyed reading their love story.

Naivety gets old quick!

I knew this was an earlier book of Nia’s and I quickly realized that one of things I didn’t like about this book was the exact thing I love about her later works. There’s always TWO adults in these relationships making stupid decisions and doing dumb ish. Here it was ALL Dylan, which after awhile made me dislike her because it felt like she never learned her lesson. She literally kept making the SAME dumbass decision over and over no matter how many times it bit her in the behind. Also felt like the decision to both not tell him about Corey’s plan AND the baby required gravity defying twists to avoid the common sense logic of just telling him and on the first point, lobbying him to go along with the plan (I’m sure her sharing how uncomfortable the bad press made her would’ve been enough to get his buy-in). Particularly when the trust was tenuous due to prior decisions. I also felt Mark’s reaction to her withholding the baby news was too generous to be realistic in light of the prior issues - I recognized the truth wasn’t the issue, it was her continued secret keeping. This is the only NF book that I just wanted to be done and finished out of obligation rather than enjoyment.

After reading all of Nia Forrester's books, I can safely say that she is one of my favorite authors. I like that she takes her time, and develops both the story and the characters. Love that she doesn't seem to be constrained by the 200-225 page limit that a lot of authors seem to be limited to; her stories aren't rushed, so things can unfold in a more realistic manner (hope that makes sense!).

So many times I wanted to shake Dylan (love that name!) and tell her to get it together, but in the end I could understand how overwhelming this whole situation was for her. Those other wives were some vile creatures! And that Ray Hernandez - Lawd! Loved, loved, loved Mark and his family, especially Miri! I was kinda hoping that something would happen between Ava and Matt, but I guess not. I was kinda intrigued by Ava, I guess, cause she kinda reminded me of Tracy (Committment, Unsuitable Men); would love to have known more about her. Maybe she'll get her own story.

Anyway, yet another good one. Great job, Ms. Forrester! Waiting patiently (!!!) on the next book.

This was a good love story. Mark was truly an incredible hero, even though he was a bit demanding. He had good intentions, however being a man of few words, he usually told Dylan what to do without explanation. Yeah that can be hard on a person who needs to understand why the request is being made. His heart was always in the right place.
This book featured a great strong family, with interesting supporting characters. Dylan was a bit naive, however it is expected, when you are thrown into an entirely new and unfamiliar environment. Of course, what good love story about an athlete would be complete without a group of messy players wives, with too much time on their hands.
The chemistry was great between the characters and you couldn't help, but fall in love with Dylan and Mark. I truly enjoyed the book and would recommend reading it. This author is growing on me more and more. Good job!!

I got this book for free off of Bookbub ages ago and finally got around to reading it. The story is about Dylan, an aspiring law student. She is attending a party one night that she really isn’t enjoying and hides out on the fire escape. Mark, the New York Mets newest rookie, is out on the fire escape dodging the party as well. They hit it off and begin a tumultuous relationship. This story definitely wasn’t a literary masterpiece but I found it entertaining. There were grammatical errors but I expect that when I read independently published books. I recommend this book if you’re in the hunt for a nice, fluff story.

Nia Forrester has the ability to draw inside a story and make you care what happens to the characters. Dylan while at a party standing on a balcony meets the man that will change her world for the better. Dylan's relationship with Mark is her first seduction and as a result of their relationship, she becomes seduced by several more things that have the ability to affect her marriage and her life. This book is a real eye opener to what can happen when we lose ourselves in other people.. Loved it, get it for yourself, you'll be so satisfied that you did!!

Ms. Forrester does it again. What an enjoyable story!! Please read this book. You will not regret it. I agree with the other reviewers, I really liked how she told the story of their union from beginning to end. I really love how her main characters don't always have it together. Weaved into this story about the union between two people is Dylan's relationship with herself. It is a really good story. I also liked learning about the Dominican culture.

Mark & Dylan

Looking for a book about the true nature of a relationship (conception to birth) this is definitely the novel.

Mark - knew himself, what he wanted, what was needed to fulfill longing, determination, loyalty, hard worker and a devoted family man

Dylan - searching to find herself, timid, afraid to venture outside of comfort, determined to have a better life than childhood, loyal, honest and resilient

Mark is drafted into MLB
Dylan is infatuated and disbelieving that Mark would stay true
Mark wants to get married
Dylan hesitates due to trust issues and insecurity

Can Mark and Dylan enter a drama filled life together and still learn that honesty is all they have at the end of the day or will nay-sayers intrude and cause permanent damage to an already fragile union?

Another one

Although I really wanted to rate this a 4, I still ended up rating it a 5 because, I strongly believe that what MS. Forrester was trying to accomplished happened in ten-fold.... This book was so out of the ordinary that us as the readers were forced to get out of our comfort zone. It had a little bit of everything that one goes thru in real life; such as: Romance, Comitment, cheating, drug use, selfishness, self esteem, sports, financial gains and struggles, family life, family acceptance, family unconditional love (even after terrible things were done) and of course the super Alpha Male meter was up to the roof...
I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to see the every day struggles, same as in real lufe, but through the eyes of someone else...

Dylan had to have been working Mark’s nerves because I know she was irking mine. I can’t how many times I just wanted to shake her. She was so immature, insecure and stubborn ugh I know I literally screamed a few times. It has been a while since a female MC worked my nerves like this. Yes there have been characters at moments drove me bonkers but the male MC would have his moments too.

But in this story Dylan pissed me off more times than not. So much so she made Mark seemed like A saint. I’m surprised she didn’t drive him to leave her. I respected him more for hanging in their despite his wife being a fuck up

I love how close knit the Acostas are and that they stuck by Dylan no matter how suspect she seemed.

Don't be fooled...

Even though the relationship was rushed, you could feel the love between Dylan and Mark. However, Dylan got on my nerves with her insecurities and childish ways. I couldn't blame Mark for how he handled things, especially after he asked her to leave. Dylan had to learn the hard way of not getting caught up in the world you're being thrust into. It is important to have an inner circle that have your back. Her new found friends didn't. I'm glad they worked things out, and it is a lesson for each of us to learn. Don't be fooled by all the shiny glitz and glamour. It is only a facade and not truly real.

The writing...

As usual was captivating, immersive and had me invested in Mark and Dylan's journey from their first meeting. That being said, my emotional response was the total opposite toward one character more so than the other. Nia definitely knows how to pen male lead that exhibits all the glowing characteristics of a good man. She's just as talented at writing complex characters that display behaviors reflective of layered backgrounds and flawed family dynamics. The combination is an oil and water mixture that always results in a cohesiveness that lends to a well balanced, thought provoking story. And this one was no exception!

While reading this story, I was on pins and needles watching Dylan make unwise decisions. It annoyed me to no end, and I found myself saying out “Girl..WTF?!”. It was painfully obvious that Dylan had a hard time accepting real love from her husband and his family. Dylan was basically raised in a loveless household by a mother still grieving from her own loses. This lack in her childhood spilled over into her adult life, and showed its self in her marriage. I only wish it was explored more through conversation with the Acosta family.
Overall this was a very realistic view into the lives of the elite and how not knowing yourself can cause unnecessary trails.

Wonderful

What a great love story between Dylan and Mark, the new shortstop for the NY Mets. This story is a great example!e of how hard it is for relationships to thrive and survive when the person is in the limelight and how destructive tabloids and gossip can be. It also does a great job of how we can unwittingly be our own worst enemy when we enter relationships where we feel.insecure about who we are and suffer from poor self esteem. Loved their relationship in spite of the obstacles, just wish the book had gone a little further with the ending!

I never thought Sports Romances were my thing so I waited awhile to finally get into this book and I'm so glad that I did. The writing in this novel is superb the characters are oh so lovable even Mark's "macho-ness" which is usually off putting is just charming as charming as the character himself. Dylan, I wanted to shake and hug her all at once so many things were new to her and as a reader you feel all of her inner turmoil and then self acceptance she was wonderful, the book is wonderful, its a 5/5 definitely.

I’ll start by said Nia Forrester is one of my favourite authors to the point of reading complete series back to back in days.

Sadly this book was not on par with that.

I feel like annoying is the best term I can think of. Dylan’s low self esteem, lack of self worth and inconsistent confidence to make decisions was just annoying. She seemed determined to make the wrong decision at every point and her inability to be honest about things only made it worse.

It was a better read toward the end but it took other people to explain Dylan’s situation for a resolution to be found.
